1 Unless Yahweh builds the house, they who build it labor in vain. Unless Yahweh watches over the city, the watchman guards it in vain.Except Jehovah build the house, They labor in vain that build it: Except Jehovah keep the city, The watchman waketh but in vain.성전에 올라가며 부르는 노래. 솔로몬의 시. 여호와께서 집을 세우지 않으시면 집을 짓는 사람들의 수고가 헛되고, 여호와께서 성을 지켜 주지 않으시면 파수꾼이 깨어 지켜도 헛되다.
2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil, for he gives sleep to his loved ones.It is vain for you to rise up early, To take rest late, To eat the bread of toil; For so he giveth unto his beloved sleep.너희가 일찍 일어나고 늦게까지 앉아 수고의 빵을 먹는 것이 헛되니, 여호와께서는 사랑하시는 자에게 잠을 주신다.
3 Behold, children are a heritage of Yahweh. The fruit of the womb is his reward.Lo, children are a heritage of Jehovah; And the fruit of the womb is his reward.보라, 자식은 여호와께서 주시는 유업이요, 태의 열매는 그분의 상급이다.
4 As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of youth.As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, So are the children of youth.용사의 손에 들린 화살처럼, 젊은 시절에 낳은 자식들도 그러하다.
5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them. They won’t be disappointed when they speak with their enemies in the gate.Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: They shall not be put to shame, When they speak with their enemies in the gate.화살통을 그것들로 가득 채운 사람은 복이 있다. 그들은 성문에서 원수들과 담판할 때에 부끄러움을 당하지 않을 것이다.
