1 Oh that you would tear the heavens, that you would come down, that the mountains might quake at your presence —Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might quake at thy presence,아, 주께서 하늘을 가르고 내려오셔서 주 앞에 산들이 진동하게 하시기를 원합니다.
2 as when fire kindles the brushwood, and the fire causes the water to boil. Make your name known to your adversaries, that the nations may tremble at your presence!as when fire kindleth the brushwood, and the fire causeth the waters to boil; to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at thy presence!불이 마른 나뭇가지를 사르고 불이 물을 끓게 하는 것같이, 주의 이름을 주의 원수들에게 알리시고 뭇 나라가 주 앞에서 떨게 하소서.
3 When you did awesome things which we didn’t look for, you came down, and the mountains quaked at your presence.When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains quaked at thy presence.주께서 우리가 기대하지 못했던 두려운 일들을 행하시던 그때에, 주께서 내려오시니 산들이 주 앞에서 진동하였습니다.
4 For from of old men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, nor has the eye seen a God besides you, who works for him who waits for him.For from of old men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen a God besides thee, who worketh for him that waiteth for him.예로부터 사람들은 주 외에 다른 하나님을 들은 적도 없고, 귀로 깨달은 적도 없으며, 눈으로 본 적도 없습니다. 오직 주만이 주를 기다리는 자를 위하여 일하십니다.
5 You meet him who rejoices and does righteousness, those who remember you in your ways. Behold, you were angry, and we sinned. We have been in sin for a long time. Shall we be saved?Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou wast wroth, and we sinned: in them have we been of long time; and shall we be saved?주께서는 기뻐하며 의를 행하는 자, 주의 길을 따라 주를 기억하는 자를 만나 주십니다. 보소서, 주께서 진노하셨으니, 우리가 죄를 지었기 때문입니다. 우리가 오랫동안 죄 가운데 있었으니, 우리가 구원을 받을 수 있겠습니까?
6 For we have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteousness is like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.For we are all become as one that is unclean, and all our righteousnesses are as a polluted garment: and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.우리는 모두 부정한 자같이 되었고, 우리의 모든 의는 더러운 옷과 같습니다. 우리는 다 나뭇잎처럼 시들고, 우리의 죄악은 바람처럼 우리를 휩쓸어 갑니다.
7 There is no one who calls on your name, who stirs himself up to take hold of you; for you have hidden your face from us, and have consumed us by means of our iniquities.And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee; for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us by means of our iniquities.주의 이름을 부르는 자도 없고, 스스로 분발하여 주를 붙잡는 자도 없습니다. 주께서 우리에게서 주의 얼굴을 숨기시고, 우리의 죄악으로 인하여 우리를 소멸시키셨기 때문입니다.
8 But now, Yahweh, you are our Father. We are the clay and you our potter. We all are the work of your hand.But now, O Jehovah, thou art our Father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.그러나 이제, 여호와여, 주는 우리의 아버지이십니다. 우리는 진흙이고 주는 우리를 빚으시는 토기장이이시니, 우리는 모두 주의 손으로 지으신 작품입니다.
9 Don’t be furious, Yahweh. Don’t remember iniquity forever. Look and see, we beg you, we are all your people.Be not wroth very sore, O Jehovah, neither remember iniquity for ever: behold, look, we beseech thee, we are all thy people.여호와여, 너무 진노하지 마시고, 죄악을 영원히 기억하지 마소서. 보소서, 살펴보소서, 우리가 간구하오니, 우리는 모두 주의 백성입니다.
10 Your holy cities have become a wilderness. Zion has become a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.Thy holy cities are become a wilderness, Zion is become a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.주의 거룩한 성읍들이 광야가 되었고, 시온이 광야가 되었으며, 예루살렘이 황폐하게 되었습니다.
11 Our holy and our beautiful house where our fathers praised you is burned with fire. All our pleasant places are laid waste.Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised thee, is burned with fire; and all our pleasant places are laid waste.우리 조상들이 주를 찬양하던 우리의 거룩하고 아름다운 성전이 불에 타 버렸고, 우리의 모든 보배로운 곳이 폐허가 되었습니다.
12 Will you hold yourself back for these things, Yahweh? Will you keep silent and punish us very severely?Wilt thou refrain thyself for these things, O Jehovah? wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us very sore?여호와여, 이런 일들을 보고도 참으시겠습니까? 잠잠히 계시면서 우리를 이토록 심하게 괴롭게 하시겠습니까?
