1 “ Sing, barren, you who didn’t give birth! Break out into singing, and cry aloud, you who didn’t travail with child! For more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife,” says Yahweh.Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith Jehovah.여호와께서 말씀하신다. "아이를 낳지 못한 여인아, 노래하여라. 해산의 고통을 겪어 본 적 없는 너는 소리 높여 노래하며 기쁨으로 외쳐라. 버림받은 여인의 자녀가 남편 있는 여인의 자녀보다 더 많을 것이다."
2 “ Enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch out the curtains of your habitations; don’t spare; lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes.Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thy habitations; spare not: lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes."네 장막의 터를 넓히고 네가 사는 곳의 휘장을 활짝 펼쳐라. 아끼지 말고 줄을 길게 늘이며 말뚝을 단단히 박아라.
3 For you will spread out on the right hand and on the left; and your offspring will possess the nations and settle in desolate cities.For thou shalt spread abroad on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall possess the nations, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.너는 오른쪽으로도 왼쪽으로도 뻗어 나갈 것이며, 네 자손은 여러 민족을 차지하고 황폐한 성읍들을 사람 사는 곳으로 만들 것이다.
4 “Don’t be afraid, for you will not be ashamed. Don’t be confounded, for you will not be disappointed. For you will forget the shame of your youth. You will remember the reproach of your widowhood no more.Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth; and the reproach of thy widowhood shalt thou remember no more.두려워하지 마라. 네가 수치를 당하지 않을 것이다. 부끄러워하지 마라. 네가 욕을 보지 않을 것이다. 너는 젊은 시절의 수치를 잊을 것이고, 과부 시절의 치욕을 다시는 기억하지 않을 것이다.
5 For your Maker is your husband; Yahweh of Armies is his name. The Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer. He will be called the God of the whole earth.For thy Maker is thy husband; Jehovah of hosts is his name: and the Holy One of Israel is thy Redeemer; the God of the whole earth shall he be called.너를 지으신 분이 네 남편이시니, 그분의 이름은 만군의 여호와이시다. 네 구원자는 이스라엘의 거룩하신 분이시니, 그분은 온 땅의 하나님이라 불리실 것이다.
6 For Yahweh has called you as a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit, even a wife of youth, when she is cast off,” says your God.For Jehovah hath called thee as a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit, even a wife of youth, when she is cast off, saith thy God.여호와께서 너를 부르셨으니, 버림받아 마음이 상한 아내, 곧 젊어서 맞이했다가 내쫓긴 아내를 부르듯 하셨다." 네 하나님께서 말씀하신다.
7 “ For a small moment I have forsaken you, but I will gather you with great mercies.For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee."잠깐 동안 내가 너를 버렸으나, 큰 긍휼로 너를 다시 모을 것이다.
8 In overflowing wrath I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting loving kindness I will have mercy on you,” says Yahweh your Redeemer.In overflowing wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting lovingkindness will I have mercy on thee, saith Jehovah thy Redeemer.넘치는 진노로 잠시 내 얼굴을 네게서 숨겼으나, 영원한 인자하심으로 너를 긍휼히 여기겠다." 너를 구속하시는 여호와께서 말씀하신다.
9 “ For this is like the waters of Noah to me; for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah will no more go over the earth, so I have sworn that I will not be angry with you, nor rebuke you.For this is as the waters of Noah unto me; for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah shall no more go over the earth, so have I sworn that I will not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee."이 일은 내게 노아의 홍수 때와 같다. 노아 때의 물이 다시는 땅을 덮지 못하게 하겠다고 내가 맹세한 것처럼, 다시는 네게 진노하거나 너를 꾸짖지 않겠다고 내가 맹세하였다.
10 For the mountains may depart, and the hills be removed, but my loving kindness will not depart from you, and my covenant of peace will not be removed,” says Yahweh who has mercy on you.For the mountains may depart, and the hills be removed; but my lovingkindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall my covenant of peace be removed, saith Jehovah that hath mercy on thee.산들이 옮겨지고 언덕들이 흔들릴지라도, 너를 향한 내 인자하심은 떠나지 않고 내 평화의 언약은 흔들리지 않을 것이다." 너를 긍휼히 여기시는 여호와께서 말씀하신다.
11 “ You afflicted, tossed with storms, and not comforted, behold, I will set your stones in beautiful colors, and lay your foundations with sapphires.O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will set thy stones in fair colors, and lay thy foundations with sapphires."고난을 당하고 폭풍에 시달리며 위로받지 못한 여인아, 보아라. 내가 네 돌들을 아름다운 빛깔로 박아 두고, 네 기초를 사파이어로 놓겠다.
12 I will make your pinnacles of rubies, your gates of sparkling jewels, and all your walls of precious stones.And I will make thy pinnacles of rubies, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy border of precious stones.네 성가퀴를 루비로 만들고, 네 성문을 빛나는 보석으로, 네 모든 성벽을 값진 돌로 만들겠다.
13 All your children will be taught by Yahweh, and your children’s peace will be great.And all thy children shall be taught of Jehovah; and great shall be the peace of thy children.네 모든 자녀가 여호와의 가르침을 받을 것이며, 네 자녀의 평화가 크게 넘칠 것이다.
14 You will be established in righteousness. You will be far from oppression, for you will not be afraid, and far from terror, for it shall not come near you.In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression, for thou shalt not fear; and from terror, for it shall not come near thee.너는 의로 세워질 것이다. 너는 압제에서 멀어질 것이니 두려워하지 않을 것이며, 공포에서 멀어질 것이니 그것이 네게 가까이 오지 못할 것이다.
15 Behold, they may gather together, but not by me. Whoever gathers together against you will fall because of you.Behold, they may gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall because of thee.보아라, 그들이 함께 모일지라도 내가 시킨 것이 아니다. 너를 치려고 함께 모이는 자는 누구든지 너 때문에 쓰러질 것이다.
16 “ Behold, I have created the blacksmith who fans the coals into flame, and forges a weapon for his work; and I have created the destroyer to destroy.Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the fire of coals, and bringeth forth a weapon for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.보아라, 숯불을 피워 자기 일에 쓸 무기를 만들어 내는 대장장이를 내가 창조하였고, 멸하는 파괴자도 내가 창조하였다.
17 No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of Yahweh’s servants, and their righteousness is of me,” says Yahweh.No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of Jehovah, and their righteousness which is of me, saith Jehovah.너를 치려고 만들어진 어떤 무기도 성공하지 못할 것이며, 재판에서 너를 대적하여 일어서는 모든 혀를 네가 정죄할 것이다. 이것이 여호와의 종들이 받을 유업이며, 그들의 의는 내게서 난 것이다." 여호와께서 말씀하신다.
