1 Oh that my head were waters, and my eyes a spring of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!아, 내 머리가 물이 되고 내 눈이 눈물의 샘이 된다면, 내 백성, 곧 딸처럼 사랑하는 내 백성 가운데 죽임당한 자들을 위해 밤낮으로 울 수 있으련만!
2 Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men, that I might leave my people and go from them! For they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging-place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.아, 광야에 나그네가 묵어가는 숙소라도 있다면, 내 백성을 떠나 그들에게서 멀리 갈 수 있으련만! 그들은 모두 간음하는 자들이요, 배신하는 자들의 무리이기 때문이다.
3 “ They bend their tongue, as their bow, for falsehood. They have grown strong in the land, but not for truth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they don’t know me,” says Yahweh.And they bend their tongue, as it were their bow, for falsehood; and they are grown strong in the land, but not for truth: for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith Jehovah.그들은 활을 당기듯 자기 혀로 거짓을 쏘아 댄다. 그들은 이 땅에서 강해졌으나 진실을 위해서가 아니다. 그들은 악에서 악으로 나아가며 나를 알지 못한다고 여호와께서 말씀하신다.
4 “Everyone beware of his neighbor, and don’t trust in any brother; for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbor will go around like a slanderer.Take ye heed every one of his neighbor, and trust ye not in any brother; for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbor will go about with slanders.너희는 저마다 이웃을 조심하고 어떤 형제도 믿지 말라. 형제마다 속이며 발을 걸어 넘어뜨리려 하고, 이웃마다 돌아다니며 헐뜯을 것이기 때문이다.
5 Friends deceive each other, and will not speak the truth. They have taught their tongue to speak lies. They weary themselves committing iniquity.And they will deceive every one his neighbor, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies; they weary themselves to commit iniquity.그들은 저마다 자기 이웃을 속이고 진실을 말하지 않는다. 그들은 거짓말하도록 자기 혀를 길들였고, 죄악을 저지르느라 스스로를 지치게 한다.
6 Your habitation is in the middle of deceit. Through deceit, they refuse to know me,” says Yahweh.Thy habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith Jehovah.네가 사는 곳은 속임수가 가득한 한가운데이며, 그들은 속임수를 통해 나를 알기를 거부한다고 여호와께서 말씀하신다.
7 Therefore Yahweh of Armies says, “Behold, I will melt them and test them; for how should I deal with the daughter of my people?Therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how else should I do, because of the daughter of my people?그러므로 만군의 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 보라, 내가 그들을 풀무에 녹이듯 단련하고 시험하겠다. 딸처럼 사랑하는 내 백성을 두고 내가 달리 어찌하겠느냐?
8 Their tongue is a deadly arrow. It speaks deceit. One speaks peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, but in his heart, he waits to ambush him.Their tongue is a deadly arrow; it speaketh deceit: one speaketh peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, but in his heart he layeth wait for him.그들의 혀는 죽음을 부르는 화살이라 속임수를 말한다. 입으로는 이웃에게 평화롭게 말하면서도 마음속으로는 그를 해치려고 숨어 기다린다.
9 Shouldn’t I punish them for these things?” says Yahweh. “Shouldn’t my soul be avenged on a nation such as this?Shall I not visit them for these things? saith Jehovah; shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?이런 일들로 내가 그들을 벌하지 않겠느냐고 여호와께서 말씀하신다. 이런 민족에게 내 영혼이 어찌 보복하지 않겠느냐?
10 I will weep and wail for the mountains, and lament for the pastures of the wilderness, because they are burned up, so that no one passes through; Men can’t hear the voice of the livestock. Both the birds of the sky and the animals have fled. They are gone.For the mountains will I take up a weeping and wailing, and for the pastures of the wilderness a lamentation, because they are burned up, so that none passeth through; neither can men hear the voice of the cattle; both the birds of the heavens and the beasts are fled, they are gone.산들을 두고 나는 울며 통곡하겠고, 광야의 목초지를 두고 슬피 노래하겠다. 그것들이 다 타 버려 아무도 지나다니지 못하고, 가축의 소리도 들리지 않으며, 하늘의 새들과 짐승들도 다 도망쳐 사라졌기 때문이다.
11 “ I will make Jerusalem heaps, a dwelling place of jackals. I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant.”And I will make Jerusalem heaps, a dwelling-place of jackals; and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant.내가 예루살렘을 돌무더기로, 승냥이가 사는 곳으로 만들고, 유다의 성읍들을 사람이 살지 않는 황무지로 만들겠다.
12 Who is wise enough to understand this? Who is he to whom the mouth of Yahweh has spoken, that he may declare it? Why has the land perished and burned up like a wilderness, so that no one passes through?Who is the wise man, that may understand this? and who is he to whom the mouth of Jehovah hath spoken, that he may declare it? wherefore is the land perished and burned up like a wilderness, so that none passeth through?누가 지혜로운 사람이어서 이것을 깨닫겠느냐? 누구에게 여호와의 입이 말씀하셨기에 그것을 전하겠느냐? 어찌하여 이 땅이 망하고 광야처럼 타 버려 아무도 지나다니지 못하게 되었느냐?
13 Yahweh says, “Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice or walked in my ways,And Jehovah saith, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein,여호와께서 말씀하신다. 이는 그들이 내가 그들 앞에 둔 내 율법을 버리고, 내 목소리에 순종하지 않으며, 그 안에서 행하지 않았기 때문이다.
14 but have walked after the stubbornness of their own heart and after the Baals, which their fathers taught them.”but have walked after the stubbornness of their own heart, and after the Baalim, which their fathers taught them;도리어 자기 마음의 완고함을 따르고, 자기 조상들이 가르쳐 준 바알들을 따라 행하였기 때문이다.
15 Therefore Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says, “ Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood and give them poisoned water to drink.therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.그러므로 만군의 여호와, 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 보라, 내가 이 백성에게 쓴 쑥을 먹이고 독이 든 물을 마시게 하겠다.
16 I will scatter them also among the nations, whom neither they nor their fathers have known. I will send the sword after them, until I have consumed them.”I will scatter them also among the nations, whom neither they nor their fathers have known; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them.또 내가 그들과 그 조상들이 알지 못하던 민족들 가운데로 그들을 흩어 버리고, 그들을 다 멸할 때까지 칼을 그들 뒤로 보내겠다.
17 Yahweh of Armies says, “ Consider, and call for the mourning women, that they may come. Send for the skillful women, that they may come.Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, Consider ye, and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for the skilful women, that they may come:만군의 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 잘 생각해 보고 곡하는 여인들을 불러오게 하라. 능숙한 여인들을 청하여 오게 하라.
18 Let them make haste and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears and our eyelids gush out with waters.and let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters.그들이 서둘러 우리를 위해 곡하게 하여, 우리 눈에서 눈물이 흘러내리고 우리 눈꺼풀에서 물이 쏟아지게 하라.
19 For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, ‘ How we are ruined! We are greatly confounded because we have forsaken the land, because they have cast down our dwellings.’”For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we ruined! we are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because they have cast down our dwellings.시온에서 곡하는 소리가 들린다. 우리가 어찌 이리 망하였는가! 우리가 크게 부끄러움을 당하였구나. 우리가 땅을 버리게 되었고, 그들이 우리 사는 곳을 헐어 버렸기 때문이다.
20 Yet hear Yahweh’s word, you women. Let your ear receive the word of his mouth. Teach your daughters wailing. Everyone teach her neighbor a lamentation.Yet hear the word of Jehovah, O ye women, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth; and teach your daughters wailing, and every one her neighbor lamentation.그러나 너희 여인들아, 여호와의 말씀을 들으라. 너희 귀로 그분의 입에서 나오는 말씀을 받으라. 너희 딸들에게 곡하기를 가르치고, 저마다 이웃에게 슬피 노래하기를 가르치라.
21 For death has come up into our windows. It has entered into our palaces to cut off the children from outside, and the young men from the streets.For death is come up into our windows, it is entered into our palaces; to cut off the children from without, and the young men from the streets.죽음이 우리 창문으로 올라오고 우리 궁궐 안으로 들어와, 바깥의 아이들과 거리의 젊은이들을 끊어 버렸기 때문이다.
22 Speak, “ Yahweh says, “‘ The dead bodies of men will fall as dung on the open field, and as the handful after the harvester. No one will gather them.’”Speak, Thus saith Jehovah, The dead bodies of men shall fall as dung upon the open field, and as the handful after the harvestman; and none shall gather them.여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다고 전하라. 사람들의 시체가 들판 위의 거름처럼, 추수하는 자 뒤에 떨어진 한 줌 곡식처럼 쓰러질 것이며, 아무도 거두지 않을 것이다.
23 Yahweh says, “Don’t let the wise man glory in his wisdom. Don’t let the mighty man glory in his might. Don’t let the rich man glory in his riches.Thus saith Jehovah, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches;여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 지혜로운 자는 자기 지혜를 자랑하지 말고, 강한 자는 자기 힘을 자랑하지 말며, 부유한 자는 자기 재물을 자랑하지 말라.
24 But let him who glories glory in this, that he has understanding, and knows me, that I am Yahweh who exercises loving kindness, justice, and righteousness in the earth, for I delight in these things,” says Yahweh.but let him that glorieth glory in this, that he hath understanding, and knoweth me, that I am Jehovah who exerciseth lovingkindness, justice, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith Jehovah.자랑하는 자는 오직 이것을 자랑하라. 곧 명철을 얻어 나를 아는 것, 내가 이 땅에서 인자와 공의와 의를 행하는 여호와임을 아는 것이다. 나는 이런 것들을 기뻐한다고 여호와께서 말씀하신다.
25 “Behold, the days come,” says Yahweh, “ that I will punish all those who are circumcised only in their flesh:Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that I will punish all them that are circumcised in their uncircumcision:보라, 날이 이르리니 내가 몸에는 할례를 받았으나 마음에는 할례 받지 못한 모든 자를 벌하겠다고 여호와께서 말씀하신다.
26 Egypt, Judah, Edom, the children of Ammon, Moab, and all who have the corners of their hair cut off, who dwell in the wilderness, for all the nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in heart.”Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all that have the corners of their hair cut off, that dwell in the wilderness; for all the nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in heart.곧 이집트와 유다와 에돔과 암몬 자손과 모압, 그리고 광야에 살며 머리 가장자리를 자른 모든 자들이다. 모든 민족이 할례 받지 못하였고, 이스라엘 온 집도 마음에 할례 받지 못하였기 때문이다.
