1 In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came from Yahweh:In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, came this word from Jehovah, saying,유다 왕 요시야의 아들 여호야김이 다스리기 시작할 무렵에, 여호와께로부터 이 말씀이 임하여 이르셨다.
2 “ Yahweh says: ‘ Stand in the court of Yahweh’s house, and speak to all the cities of Judah which come to worship in Yahweh’s house, all the words that I command you to speak to them. Don’t omit a word.Thus saith Jehovah: Stand in the court of Jehovah’s house, and speak unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in Jehovah’s house, all the words that I command thee to speak unto them; diminish not a word.여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "너는 여호와의 성전 뜰에 서서, 여호와의 성전에 예배하러 오는 유다의 모든 성읍 사람들에게, 내가 너에게 명하여 전하게 한 모든 말을 한 마디도 줄이지 말고 그들에게 전하여라.
3 It may be they will listen, and every man turn from his evil way, that I may relent from the evil which I intend to do to them because of the evil of their doings.’”It may be they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way; that I may repent me of the evil which I purpose to do unto them because of the evil of their doings.어쩌면 그들이 듣고 저마다 자기의 악한 길에서 돌이킬지도 모른다. 그러면 나도 그들의 악한 행실 때문에 그들에게 내리려고 했던 재앙을 거두어들이겠다.
4 You shall tell them, “ Yahweh says: ‘If you will not listen to me, to walk in my law which I have set before you,And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith Jehovah: If ye will not hearken to me, to walk in my law, which I have set before you,너는 그들에게 이렇게 전하여라. 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. '만일 너희가 내 말을 듣지 않고, 내가 너희 앞에 둔 내 율법을 따라 행하지 않으며,
5 to listen to the words of my servants the prophets whom I send to you, even rising up early and sending them — but you have not listened —to hearken to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I send unto you, even rising up early and sending them, but ye have not hearkened;내가 너희에게 보낸 내 종 선지자들의 말을 듣지 않는다면 — 내가 그들을 거듭거듭 부지런히 보냈으나 너희가 듣지 않았다 —
6 then I will make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.’”then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.그러면 내가 이 성전을 실로처럼 만들고, 이 성읍을 땅의 모든 민족 앞에서 저주거리가 되게 하겠다.'"
7 The priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in Yahweh’s house.And the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of Jehovah.제사장들과 선지자들과 온 백성이 예레미야가 여호와의 성전에서 이 말씀을 전하는 것을 들었다.
8 When Jeremiah had finished speaking all that Yahweh had commanded him to speak to all the people, the priests and the prophets and all the people seized him, saying, “ You shall surely die!And it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that Jehovah had commanded him to speak unto all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people laid hold on him, saying, Thou shalt surely die.예레미야가 여호와께서 모든 백성에게 전하라고 명하신 말씀을 다 마치자, 제사장들과 선지자들과 온 백성이 그를 붙잡고 말했다. "너는 반드시 죽어야 한다.
9 Why have you prophesied in Yahweh’s name, saying, ‘ This house will be like Shiloh, and this city will be desolate, without inhabitant’?” All the people were crowded around Jeremiah in Yahweh’s house.Why hast thou prophesied in the name of Jehovah, saying, This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate, without inhabitant? And all the people were gathered unto Jeremiah in the house of Jehovah.어찌하여 네가 여호와의 이름으로 예언하여, 이 성전이 실로처럼 되고 이 성읍이 황폐하여 사는 사람이 없으리라고 말하느냐?" 온 백성이 여호와의 성전에서 예레미야에게 몰려들었다.
10 When the princes of Judah heard these things, they came up from the king’s house to Yahweh’s house; and they sat in the entry of the new gate of Yahweh’s house.And when the princes of Judah heard these things, they came up from the king’s house unto the house of Jehovah; and they sat in the entry of the new gate of Jehovah’s house.유다의 고관들이 이 일을 듣고 왕궁에서 여호와의 성전으로 올라와, 여호와의 성전 새 문 어귀에 앉았다.
11 Then the priests and the prophets spoke to the princes and to all the people, saying, “ This man is worthy of death, for he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your ears.”Then spake the priests and the prophets unto the princes and to all the people, saying, This man is worthy of death; for he hath prophesied against this city, as ye have heard with your ears.그러자 제사장들과 선지자들이 고관들과 온 백성에게 말했다. "이 사람은 죽어 마땅합니다. 여러분이 직접 귀로 들으신 대로, 그가 이 성읍을 거슬러 예언했기 때문입니다."
12 Then Jeremiah spoke to all the princes and to all the people, saying, “ Yahweh sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that you have heard.Then spake Jeremiah unto all the princes and to all the people, saying, Jehovah sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that ye have heard.그러자 예레미야가 모든 고관과 온 백성에게 말했다. "여호와께서 나를 보내시어, 여러분이 들은 이 모든 말씀으로 이 성전과 이 성읍을 거슬러 예언하게 하셨습니다.
13 Now therefore amend your ways and your doings, and obey Yahweh your God’s voice; then Yahweh will relent from the evil that he has pronounced against you.Now therefore amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of Jehovah your God; and Jehovah will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you.그러므로 이제 여러분의 길과 행실을 고치고, 여러분의 하나님 여호와의 목소리에 순종하십시오. 그러면 여호와께서 여러분에게 선언하신 재앙을 거두실 것입니다.
14 But as for me, behold, I am in your hand. Do with me what is good and right in your eyes.But as for me, behold, I am in your hand: do with me as is good and right in your eyes.그러나 나로 말하면, 보십시오, 나는 여러분의 손 안에 있습니다. 여러분 보기에 좋고 옳은 대로 나에게 하십시오.
15 Only know for certain that if you put me to death, you will bring innocent blood on yourselves, on this city, and on its inhabitants; for in truth Yahweh has sent me to you to speak all these words in your ears.”Only know ye for certain that, if ye put me to death, ye will bring innocent blood upon yourselves, and upon this city, and upon the inhabitants thereof; for of a truth Jehovah hath sent me unto you to speak all these words in your ears.다만 분명히 아십시오. 만일 여러분이 나를 죽인다면, 여러분은 무죄한 피를 여러분 자신과 이 성읍과 그 주민들에게 돌리는 것입니다. 참으로 여호와께서 나를 여러분에게 보내시어, 이 모든 말씀을 여러분의 귀에 전하게 하셨기 때문입니다."
16 Then the princes and all the people said to the priests and to the prophets: “ This man is not worthy of death; for he has spoken to us in the name of Yahweh our God.”Then said the princes and all the people unto the priests and to the prophets: This man is not worthy of death; for he hath spoken to us in the name of Jehovah our God.그러자 고관들과 온 백성이 제사장들과 선지자들에게 말했다. "이 사람은 죽어 마땅하지 않습니다. 그가 우리 하나님 여호와의 이름으로 우리에게 말했기 때문입니다."
17 Then certain of the elders of the land rose up, and spoke to all the assembly of the people, saying,Then rose up certain of the elders of the land, and spake to all the assembly of the people, saying,그때에 그 땅의 장로들 가운데 몇 사람이 일어나, 백성의 온 회중에게 말했다.
18 “ Micah the Morashtite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah; and he spoke to all the people of Judah, saying, ‘ Yahweh of Armies says: “‘ Zion will be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem will become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.’Micah the Morashtite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah; and he spake to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Zion shall be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest."모레셋 사람 미가가 유다 왕 히스기야 시대에 예언하여, 유다의 온 백성에게 이렇게 말했습니다. '만군의 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 시온은 밭처럼 갈아엎어지고, 예루살렘은 돌무더기가 되며, 성전이 있는 산은 숲의 산당처럼 되리라.'
19 Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him to death? Didn’t he fear Yahweh, and entreat the favor of Yahweh, and Yahweh relented of the disaster which he had pronounced against them? We would commit great evil against our own souls that way!”Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him to death? did he not fear Jehovah, and entreat the favor of Jehovah, and Jehovah repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus should we commit great evil against our own souls.유다 왕 히스기야와 온 유다가 그를 죽였습니까? 히스기야가 여호와를 경외하고 여호와의 은혜를 구하지 않았습니까? 그래서 여호와께서 그들에게 선언하신 재앙을 거두지 않으셨습니까? 그런데 우리가 우리 자신의 영혼에 큰 악을 행하려 합니다."
20 There was also a man who prophesied in Yahweh’s name, Uriah the son of Shemaiah of Kiriath Jearim; and he prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah.And there was also a man that prophesied in the name of Jehovah, Uriah the son of Shemaiah of Kiriath-jearim; and he prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah.또한 여호와의 이름으로 예언한 사람이 있었으니, 그는 기럇여아림 출신 스마야의 아들 우리야였다. 그도 예레미야의 모든 말과 똑같이 이 성읍과 이 땅을 거슬러 예언했다.
21 When Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty men and all the princes heard his words, the king sought to put him to death; but when Uriah heard it, he was afraid, and fled, and went into Egypt.And when Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty men, and all the princes, heard his words, the king sought to put him to death; but when Uriah heard it, he was afraid, and fled, and went into Egypt.여호야김 왕과 그의 모든 용사와 모든 고관이 그의 말을 듣자, 왕이 그를 죽이려 했다. 그러나 우리야가 그 소식을 듣고 두려워하여 이집트로 도망쳐 갔다.
22 Then Jehoiakim the king sent Elnathan the son of Achbor and certain men with him into Egypt.And Jehoiakim the king sent men into Egypt, namely, Elnathan the son of Achbor, and certain men with him, into Egypt;그러자 여호야김 왕이 사람들을 이집트로 보냈으니, 곧 악볼의 아들 엘라단과 그와 함께한 몇 사람을 이집트로 보냈다.
23 They fetched Uriah out of Egypt and brought him to Jehoiakim the king, who killed him with the sword and cast his dead body into the graves of the common people.and they fetched forth Uriah out of Egypt, and brought him unto Jehoiakim the king, who slew him with the sword, and cast his dead body into the graves of the common people.그들이 우리야를 이집트에서 끌어내어 여호야김 왕에게 데려오니, 왕이 그를 칼로 죽이고, 그 시체를 평민의 묘지에 던졌다.
24 But the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, so that they didn’t give him into the hand of the people to put him to death.But the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to death.그러나 사반의 아들 아히감이 예레미야를 도와, 그들이 그를 백성의 손에 넘겨 죽이지 못하게 하였다.
