1 Shephatiah the son of Mattan, Gedaliah the son of Pashhur, Jucal the son of Shelemiah, and Pashhur the son of Malchijah heard the words that Jeremiah spoke to all the people, saying,And Shephatiah the son of Mattan, and Gedaliah the son of Pashhur, and Jucal the son of Shelemiah, and Pashhur the son of Malchijah, heard the words that Jeremiah spake unto all the people, saying,맛단의 아들 스바댜와 바스훌의 아들 그달랴와 셀레먀의 아들 유갈과 말기야의 아들 바스훌이, 예레미야가 모든 백성에게 한 말을 들었습니다. 그가 이렇게 말하였습니다.
2 “ Yahweh says, ‘ He who remains in this city will die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, but he who goes out to the Chaldeans will live. He will escape with his life and he will live.’Thus saith Jehovah, He that abideth in this city shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence; but he that goeth forth to the Chaldeans shall live, and his life shall be unto him for a prey, and he shall live."여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 이 성에 머무는 사람은 칼과 기근과 전염병으로 죽을 것이다. 그러나 갈대아 사람들에게 나아가는 사람은 살 것이니, 그의 목숨은 노략물처럼 건져져서 그가 살아남을 것이다.
3 Yahweh says, ‘ This city will surely be given into the hand of the army of the king of Babylon, and he will take it.’”Thus saith Jehovah, This city shall surely be given into the hand of the army of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it.여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 이 성은 반드시 바벨론 왕의 군대 손에 넘겨질 것이며, 그가 이 성을 점령할 것이다."
4 Then the princes said to the king, “ Please let this man be put to death, because he weakens the hands of the men of war who remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words to them; for this man doesn’t seek the welfare of this people, but harm.”Then the princes said unto the king, Let this man, we pray thee, be put to death; forasmuch as he weakeneth the hands of the men of war that remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words unto them: for this man seeketh not the welfare of this people, but the hurt.그러자 고관들이 왕에게 말하였습니다. "부디 이 사람을 죽게 하소서. 그가 이런 말로 이 성에 남아 있는 군인들의 손과 모든 백성의 손을 약하게 만들고 있습니다. 이 사람은 이 백성의 안녕을 구하지 않고 오히려 해를 구하고 있습니다."
5 Zedekiah the king said, “ Behold, he is in your hand; for the king can’t do anything to oppose you.”And Zedekiah the king said, Behold, he is in your hand; for the king is not he that can do anything against you.시드기야 왕이 말하였습니다. "보아라, 그가 너희 손안에 있다. 왕도 너희를 거슬러 아무것도 할 수 없다."
6 Then they took Jeremiah and threw him into the dungeon of Malchijah the king’s son, that was in the court of the guard. They let down Jeremiah with cords. In the dungeon there was no water, but mire; and Jeremiah sank in the mire.Then took they Jeremiah, and cast him into the dungeon of Malchijah the king’s son, that was in the court of the guard: and they let down Jeremiah with cords. And in the dungeon there was no water, but mire; and Jeremiah sank in the mire.그러자 그들이 예레미야를 붙잡아, 경호대 뜰 안에 있던 왕자 말기야의 웅덩이에 던져 넣었습니다. 그들은 줄로 예레미야를 내려보냈습니다. 그 웅덩이에는 물은 없고 진흙뿐이었으므로, 예레미야가 진흙 속에 빠졌습니다.
7 Now when Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, a eunuch, who was in the king’s house, heard that they had put Jeremiah in the dungeon ( the king was then sitting in Benjamin’s gate ),Now when Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, a eunuch, who was in the king’s house, heard that they had put Jeremiah in the dungeon ( the king then sitting in the gate of Benjamin ),이제 왕궁에 있던 에티오피아 사람 환관 에벳멜렉이, 그들이 예레미야를 웅덩이에 가둔 것을 들었습니다. 그때 왕은 베냐민 문에 앉아 있었습니다.
8 Ebedmelech went out of the king’s house, and spoke to the king, saying,Ebed-melech went forth out of the king’s house, and spake to the king, saying,에벳멜렉이 왕궁에서 나가 왕에게 아뢰어 말하였습니다.
9 “ My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have cast into the dungeon. He is likely to die in the place where he is, because of the famine; for there is no more bread in the city.”My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have cast into the dungeon; and he is like to die in the place where he is, because of the famine; for there is no more bread in the city."내 주 왕이여, 이 사람들이 선지자 예레미야에게 한 모든 일이 악합니다. 그들이 그를 웅덩이에 던져 넣었으니, 그가 있는 곳에서 굶주려 죽게 될 것입니다. 이는 성안에 더 이상 빵이 없기 때문입니다."
10 Then the king commanded Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, “ Take from here thirty men with you, and take up Jeremiah the prophet out of the dungeon, before he dies.”Then the king commanded Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, saying, Take from hence thirty men with thee, and take up Jeremiah the prophet out of the dungeon, before he die.그러자 왕이 에티오피아 사람 에벳멜렉에게 명하여 말하였습니다. "여기서 사람 서른 명을 데리고 가서, 선지자 예레미야가 죽기 전에 그를 웅덩이에서 끌어올려라."

12 Ebedmelech the Ethiopian said to Jeremiah, “ Now put these rags and worn-out garments under your armpits under the cords.” Jeremiah did so.And Ebed-melech the Ethiopian said unto Jeremiah, Put now these rags and worn-out garments under thine armholes under the cords. And Jeremiah did so.에티오피아 사람 에벳멜렉이 예레미야에게 말하였습니다. "이제 이 해진 천과 낡은 옷가지를 줄 밑 겨드랑이에 대십시오." 예레미야가 그대로 하였습니다.
13 So they lifted Jeremiah up with the cords, and took him up out of the dungeon; and Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.So they drew up Jeremiah with the cords, and took him up out of the dungeon: and Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.그래서 그들이 줄로 예레미야를 끌어올려 웅덩이에서 건져냈습니다. 예레미야는 경호대 뜰에 머물렀습니다.
14 Then Zedekiah the king sent and took Jeremiah the prophet to himself into the third entry that is in Yahweh’s house. Then the king said to Jeremiah, “ I will ask you something. Hide nothing from me.”Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took Jeremiah the prophet unto him into the third entry that is in the house of Jehovah: and the king said unto Jeremiah, I will ask thee a thing; hide nothing from me.그 후에 시드기야 왕이 사람을 보내어, 선지자 예레미야를 여호와의 성전 셋째 문 안 자기에게로 데려오게 하였습니다. 왕이 예레미야에게 말하였습니다. "내가 그대에게 한 가지를 묻겠으니, 내게 아무것도 숨기지 마시오."
15 Then Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, “ If I declare it to you, will you not surely put me to death? If I give you counsel, you will not listen to me.”Then Jeremiah said unto Zedekiah, If I declare it unto thee, wilt thou not surely put me to death? and if I give thee counsel, thou wilt not hearken unto me.예레미야가 시드기야에게 말하였습니다. "제가 그것을 왕께 말씀드리면, 왕께서 반드시 저를 죽이지 않으시겠습니까? 또 제가 왕께 조언을 드려도 왕께서는 제 말을 듣지 않으실 것입니다."
16 So Zedekiah the king swore secretly to Jeremiah, saying, “ As Yahweh lives, who made our souls, I will not put you to death, neither will I give you into the hand of these men who seek your life.”So Zedekiah the king sware secretly unto Jeremiah, saying, As Jehovah liveth, that made us this soul, I will not put thee to death, neither will I give thee into the hand of these men that seek thy life.그러자 시드기야 왕이 예레미야에게 은밀히 맹세하여 말하였습니다. "우리에게 이 생명을 지으신 여호와께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하노니, 내가 그대를 죽이지 않을 것이며, 그대의 목숨을 노리는 이 사람들의 손에 그대를 넘기지도 않겠소."
17 Then Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, “ Yahweh, the God of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘If you will go out to the king of Babylon’s princes, then your soul will live, and this city will not be burned with fire. You will live, along with your house.Then said Jeremiah unto Zedekiah, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of hosts, the God of Israel: If thou wilt go forth unto the king of Babylon’s princes, then thy soul shall live, and this city shall not be burned with fire; and thou shalt live, and thy house.그러자 예레미야가 시드기야에게 말하였습니다. "만군의 하나님, 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다. 만일 왕께서 바벨론 왕의 고관들에게 나아가시면, 왕의 목숨이 살고 이 성도 불에 타지 않을 것이며, 왕과 왕의 집안이 살 것입니다.
18 But if you will not go out to the king of Babylon’s princes, then this city will be given into the hand of the Chaldeans, and they will burn it with fire, and you won’t escape out of their hand.’”But if thou wilt not go forth to the king of Babylon’s princes, then shall this city be given into the hand of the Chaldeans, and they shall burn it with fire, and thou shalt not escape out of their hand.그러나 만일 왕께서 바벨론 왕의 고관들에게 나아가지 않으시면, 이 성은 갈대아 사람들의 손에 넘겨져 그들이 불로 태울 것이며, 왕도 그들의 손에서 벗어나지 못할 것입니다."
19 Zedekiah the king said to Jeremiah, “ I am afraid of the Jews who have defected to the Chaldeans, lest they deliver me into their hand, and they mock me.”And Zedekiah the king said unto Jeremiah, I am afraid of the Jews that are fallen away to the Chaldeans, lest they deliver me into their hand, and they mock me.시드기야 왕이 예레미야에게 말하였습니다. "나는 갈대아 사람들에게 넘어간 유다 사람들이 두렵소. 그들이 나를 그들의 손에 넘겨 나를 조롱할까 두렵소."
20 But Jeremiah said, “ They won’t deliver you. Obey, I beg you, Yahweh’s voice, in that which I speak to you; so it will be well with you, and your soul will live.But Jeremiah said, They shall not deliver thee. Obey, I beseech thee, the voice of Jehovah, in that which I speak unto thee: so it shall be well with thee, and thy soul shall live.그러나 예레미야가 말하였습니다. "그들은 왕을 넘기지 않을 것입니다. 제가 왕께 드리는 말씀, 곧 여호와의 음성에 부디 순종하십시오. 그러면 왕께 잘될 것이며 왕의 목숨이 살 것입니다.
21 But if you refuse to go out, this is the word that Yahweh has shown me:But if thou refuse to go forth, this is the word that Jehovah hath showed me:그러나 만일 왕께서 나아가기를 거부하신다면, 이것이 여호와께서 제게 보여 주신 말씀입니다.
22 ‘ Behold, all the women who are left in the king of Judah’s house will be brought out to the king of Babylon’s princes, and those women will say, “ Your familiar friends have turned on you, and have prevailed over you. Your feet are sunk in the mire, they have turned away from you.”Behold, all the women that are left in the king of Judah’s house shall be brought forth to the king of Babylon’s princes, and those women shall say, Thy familiar friends have set thee on, and have prevailed over thee: now that thy feet are sunk in the mire, they are turned away back.보소서, 유다 왕의 집에 남아 있는 모든 여인이 바벨론 왕의 고관들에게로 끌려 나갈 것이며, 그 여인들이 이렇게 말할 것입니다. '왕의 가까운 벗들이 왕을 부추겨 왕을 이겼고, 왕의 발이 진흙에 빠지자 그들이 등을 돌려 떠나갔구나.'
23 They will bring out all your wives and your children to the Chaldeans. You won’t escape out of their hand, but will be taken by the hand of the king of Babylon. You will cause this city to be burned with fire.’”And they shall bring out all thy wives and thy children to the Chaldeans; and thou shalt not escape out of their hand, but shalt be taken by the hand of the king of Babylon: and thou shalt cause this city to be burned with fire.그들이 왕의 모든 아내와 자녀를 갈대아 사람들에게 끌어낼 것이며, 왕도 그들의 손에서 벗어나지 못하고 바벨론 왕의 손에 사로잡힐 것이며, 왕이 이 성을 불에 타게 할 것입니다."
24 Then Zedekiah said to Jeremiah, “ Let no man know of these words, and you won’t die.Then said Zedekiah unto Jeremiah, Let no man know of these words, and thou shalt not die.그러자 시드기야가 예레미야에게 말하였습니다. "이 말들을 아무도 알지 못하게 하시오. 그러면 그대가 죽지 않을 것이오.
25 But if the princes hear that I have talked with you, and they come to you, and tell you, ‘ Declare to us now what you have said to the king; don’t hide it from us, and we will not put you to death; also tell us what the king said to you;’But if the princes hear that I have talked with thee, and they come unto thee, and say unto thee, Declare unto us now what thou hast said unto the king; hide it not from us, and we will not put thee to death; also what the king said unto thee:그러나 만일 고관들이 내가 그대와 이야기한 것을 듣고 그대에게 와서 '그대가 왕에게 무엇을 말하였는지 우리에게 알려라. 우리에게 숨기지 말라. 그러면 우리가 그대를 죽이지 않겠다. 또 왕이 그대에게 무엇을 말하였는지도 알려라' 하고 말하거든,
26 then you shall tell them, ‘ I presented my supplication before the king, that he would not cause me to return to Jonathan’s house, to die there.’”then thou shalt say unto them, I presented my supplication before the king, that he would not cause me to return to Jonathan’s house, to die there.그대는 그들에게 '내가 요나단의 집으로 다시 돌아가 거기서 죽지 않게 해 달라고 왕 앞에 간청을 드렸을 뿐이오'라고 말하시오."
27 Then all the princes came to Jeremiah, and asked him; and he told them according to all these words that the king had commanded. So they stopped speaking with him, for the matter was not perceived.Then came all the princes unto Jeremiah, and asked him; and he told them according to all these words that the king had commanded. So they left off speaking with him; for the matter was not perceived.그 후에 모든 고관이 예레미야에게 와서 그에게 물었습니다. 예레미야가 왕이 명령한 그 모든 말대로 그들에게 말하였습니다. 그래서 그들이 그와 더 말하기를 그쳤으니, 이는 그 일이 새어 나가지 않았기 때문입니다.
28 So Jeremiah stayed in the court of the guard until the day that Jerusalem was taken.So Jeremiah abode in the court of the guard until the day that Jerusalem was taken. And it came to pass when Jerusalem was taken그리하여 예레미야는 예루살렘이 점령되는 날까지 경호대 뜰에 머물렀습니다.
