1 The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, with all his army, all the kingdoms of the earth that were under his dominion, and all the peoples, were fighting against Jerusalem and against all its cities, saying:The word which came unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and all his army, and all the kingdoms of the earth that were under his dominion, and all the peoples, were fighting against Jerusalem, and against all the cities thereof, saying:바벨론 왕 느부갓네살과 그의 온 군대, 그의 통치 아래 있던 땅의 모든 나라와 모든 민족이 예루살렘과 그 모든 성읍을 향해 싸우고 있을 때에, 여호와께서 예레미야에게 주신 말씀은 이러하다.
2 “ Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, ‘ Go, and speak to Zedekiah king of Judah, and tell him, Yahweh says, “ Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon and he will burn it with fire.Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, Go, and speak to Zedekiah king of Judah, and tell him, Thus saith Jehovah, Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire:이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "너는 가서 유다 왕 시드기야에게 전하여라. 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 보라, 내가 이 성을 바벨론 왕의 손에 넘겨주리니, 그가 이 성을 불로 사를 것이다.
3 You won’t escape out of his hand, but will surely be taken and delivered into his hand. Your eyes will see the eyes of the king of Babylon, and he will speak with you mouth to mouth. You will go to Babylon.”’and thou shalt not escape out of his hand, but shalt surely be taken, and delivered into his hand; and thine eyes shall behold the eyes of the king of Babylon, and he shall speak with thee mouth to mouth, and thou shalt go to Babylon.너는 그의 손에서 빠져나가지 못하고 반드시 사로잡혀 그의 손에 넘겨질 것이다. 네 눈이 바벨론 왕의 눈을 마주 볼 것이며, 그가 너와 얼굴을 맞대고 말할 것이요, 너는 바벨론으로 끌려가게 될 것이다.
4 “ Yet hear Yahweh’s word, O Zedekiah king of Judah. Yahweh says concerning you, ‘ You won’t die by the sword.Yet hear the word of Jehovah, O Zedekiah king of Judah: thus saith Jehovah concerning thee, Thou shalt not die by the sword;그러나 유다 왕 시드기야야, 여호와의 말씀을 들어라. 여호와께서 너에 대하여 이렇게 말씀하신다. 너는 칼에 맞아 죽지는 않을 것이다.
5 You will die in peace; and with the burnings of your fathers, the former kings who were before you, so they will make a burning for you. They will lament you, saying, “ Ah Lord!” for I have spoken the word,’ says Yahweh.”thou shalt die in peace; and with the burnings of thy fathers, the former kings that were before thee, so shall they make a burning for thee; and they shall lament thee, saying, Ah Lord! for I have spoken the word, saith Jehovah.너는 평안히 죽을 것이다. 네 조상들, 곧 너보다 앞서 다스린 옛 왕들을 위해 향을 사르던 것처럼, 사람들이 너를 위해서도 향을 사를 것이며, '아, 주여!' 하고 너를 위해 애곡할 것이다. 내가 이 말을 하였다고 여호와께서 말씀하신다."
6 Then Jeremiah the prophet spoke all these words to Zedekiah king of Judah in Jerusalem,Then Jeremiah the prophet spake all these words unto Zedekiah king of Judah in Jerusalem,그리하여 선지자 예레미야가 예루살렘에서 유다 왕 시드기야에게 이 모든 말씀을 전하였다.
7 when the king of Babylon’s army was fighting against Jerusalem and against all the cities of Judah that were left, against Lachish and against Azekah; for these alone remained of the cities of Judah as fortified cities.when the king of Babylon’s army was fighting against Jerusalem, and against all the cities of Judah that were left, against Lachish and against Azekah; for these alone remained of the cities of Judah as fortified cities.그때는 바벨론 왕의 군대가 예루살렘과 유다에 남아 있던 모든 성읍, 곧 라기스와 아세가를 향해 싸우고 있던 때였다. 유다의 견고한 성읍 가운데 오직 이 둘만이 남아 있었기 때문이다.
8 The word came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, after King Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people who were at Jerusalem, to proclaim liberty to them,The word that came unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, after that the king Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people that were at Jerusalem, to proclaim liberty unto them;시드기야 왕이 예루살렘에 있는 모든 백성과 언약을 맺어, 종들에게 자유를 선포하게 한 후에 여호와께서 예레미야에게 주신 말씀은 이러하다.
9 that every man should let his male servant, and every man his female servant, who is a Hebrew or a Hebrewess, go free, that no one should make bondservants of them, of a Jew his brother.that every man should let his man-servant, and every man his maid-servant, that is a Hebrew or a Hebrewess, go free; that none should make bondmen of them, to wit, of a Jew his brother.그 언약은, 누구든지 히브리 남종이나 히브리 여종을 자유롭게 놓아 주고, 동족인 유다 사람을 더 이상 종으로 부리지 못하게 한 것이었다.
10 All the princes and all the people obeyed who had entered into the covenant, that everyone should let his male servant and everyone his female servant go free, that no one should make bondservants of them any more. They obeyed and let them go,And all the princes and all the people obeyed, that had entered into the covenant, that every one should let his man-servant, and every one his maid-servant, go free, that none should make bondmen of them any more; they obeyed, and let them go:언약에 참여한 모든 고관과 모든 백성이 순종하여, 각자 자기 남종과 여종을 자유롭게 놓아 주고 더 이상 종으로 부리지 않기로 하였다. 그들은 순종하여 종들을 놓아 주었다.

12 Therefore Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,Therefore the word of Jehovah came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying,그러므로 여호와의 말씀이 예레미야에게 임하여 이르셨다.
13 “ Yahweh, the God of Israel, says: ‘ I made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage, saying:Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: I made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage, saying,"이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 내가 너희 조상들을 이집트 땅, 곧 종살이하던 집에서 이끌어 내던 날에 그들과 언약을 맺어 이렇게 말하였다.
14 At the end of seven years, every man of you shall release his brother who is a Hebrew, who has been sold to you, and has served you six years. You shall let him go free from you. But your fathers didn’t listen to me, and didn’t incline their ear.At the end of seven years ye shall let go every man his brother that is a Hebrew, that hath been sold unto thee, and hath served thee six years, thou shalt let him go free from thee: but your fathers hearkened not unto me, neither inclined their ear.'일곱째 해의 끝에는 너희에게 팔려 와 여섯 해 동안 너희를 섬긴 히브리 동족을 각자 자유롭게 놓아 주어라.' 그러나 너희 조상들은 내 말을 듣지 않았고, 귀를 기울이지도 않았다.
15 You had now turned, and had done that which is right in my eyes, in every man proclaiming liberty to his neighbor. You had made a covenant before me in the house which is called by my name;And ye were now turned, and had done that which is right in mine eyes, in proclaiming liberty every man to his neighbor; and ye had made a covenant before me in the house which is called by my name:너희는 이제 마음을 돌이켜 내 보기에 옳은 일을 행하여, 각자 이웃에게 자유를 선포하였고, 내 이름으로 일컫는 집에서 내 앞에 언약을 맺었다.
16 but you turned and profaned my name, and every man caused his servant and every man his handmaid, whom you had let go free at their pleasure, to return. You brought them into subjection, to be to you for servants and for handmaids.’”but ye turned and profaned my name, and caused every man his servant, and every man his handmaid, whom ye had let go free at their pleasure, to return; and ye brought them into subjection, to be unto you for servants and for handmaids.그런데도 너희는 다시 돌이켜 내 이름을 더럽혔다. 너희가 마음대로 자유롭게 놓아 주었던 종과 여종들을 너희가 각자 다시 데려와, 너희의 남종과 여종으로 삼으려고 굴복시켰다.
17 Therefore Yahweh says: “ You have not listened to me, to proclaim liberty, every man to his brother, and every man to his neighbor. Behold, I proclaim to you a liberty,” says Yahweh, “ to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine. I will make you be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth.Therefore thus saith Jehovah: Ye have not hearkened unto me, to proclaim liberty, every man to his brother, and every man to his neighbor: behold, I proclaim unto you a liberty, saith Jehovah, to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you to be tossed to and fro among all the kingdoms of the earth.그러므로 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 너희가 내 말을 듣지 않고 각자 자기 형제와 이웃에게 자유를 선포하지 않았으니, 보라, 내가 너희에게 자유를 선포하겠다고 여호와께서 말씀하신다. 곧 칼과 전염병과 기근에 대한 자유다. 내가 너희를 땅의 모든 나라 가운데서 이리저리 내던져지게 하겠다.
18 I will give the men who have transgressed my covenant, who have not performed the words of the covenant which they made before me when they cut the calf in two and passed between its parts:And I will give the men that have transgressed my covenant, that have not performed the words of the covenant which they made before me, when they cut the calf in twain and passed between the parts thereof;내 언약을 어기고, 그들이 내 앞에서 맺은 언약의 말씀을 지키지 않은 사람들, 곧 송아지를 둘로 쪼개고 그 쪼갠 사이로 지나간 자들을,
19 the princes of Judah, the princes of Jerusalem, the eunuchs, the priests, and all the people of the land, who passed between the parts of the calf.the princes of Judah, and the princes of Jerusalem, the eunuchs, and the priests, and all the people of the land, that passed between the parts of the calf;곧 유다의 고관들과 예루살렘의 고관들, 내시들과 제사장들, 그리고 송아지 쪼갠 사이로 지나간 그 땅의 모든 백성을,
20 I will even give them into the hand of their enemies and into the hand of those who seek their life. Their dead bodies will be food for the birds of the sky and for the animals of the earth.I will even give them into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life; and their dead bodies shall be for food unto the birds of the heavens, and to the beasts of the earth.내가 그들의 원수의 손과 그들의 목숨을 노리는 자들의 손에 넘겨주겠다. 그들의 시체는 공중의 새와 땅의 짐승의 먹이가 될 것이다.
21 “ I will give Zedekiah king of Judah and his princes into the hands of their enemies, into the hands of those who seek their life and into the hands of the king of Babylon’s army, who has gone away from you.And Zedekiah king of Judah and his princes will I give into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life, and into the hand of the king of Babylon’s army, that are gone away from you.또 유다 왕 시드기야와 그의 고관들도 내가 그들의 원수의 손과 그들의 목숨을 노리는 자들의 손, 곧 너희에게서 물러간 바벨론 왕의 군대의 손에 넘겨주겠다.
22 Behold, I will command,” says Yahweh, “ and cause them to return to this city. They will fight against it, take it, and burn it with fire. I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant.”Behold, I will command, saith Jehovah, and cause them to return to this city; and they shall fight against it, and take it, and burn it with fire: and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant.보라, 내가 명령하겠다고 여호와께서 말씀하신다. 내가 그들을 이 성으로 다시 돌아오게 하리니, 그들이 이 성을 향해 싸워 빼앗고 불로 사를 것이다. 내가 유다의 성읍들을 황폐하게 하여 주민이 없게 하겠다."
