1 Thus said Yahweh, “ Go, and buy a potter’s earthen container, and take some of the elders of the people and of the elders of the priests;Thus said Jehovah, Go, and buy a potter’s earthen bottle, and take of the elders of the people, and of the elders of the priests;여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "가서 토기장이가 만든 질그릇 병을 하나 사고, 백성의 장로 몇 사람과 제사장의 장로 몇 사람을 데리고
2 and go out to the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the gate Harsith, and proclaim there the words that I will tell you.and go forth unto the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the gate Harsith, and proclaim there the words that I shall tell thee;한놈의 아들 골짜기, 곧 하르싯 문 어귀에 있는 곳으로 나아가, 내가 네게 일러 줄 말씀을 거기서 외쳐라.
3 Say, ‘ Hear Yahweh’s word, kings of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel says, “ Behold, I will bring evil on this place, which whoever hears, his ears will tingle.and say, Hear ye the word of Jehovah, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem: Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, which whosoever heareth, his ears shall tingle.그리고 이렇게 말하여라. '유다 왕들과 예루살렘 주민들아, 여호와의 말씀을 들어라. 만군의 여호와, 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 보라, 내가 이곳에 재앙을 내릴 터인데, 그 소식을 듣는 자마다 귀가 멍멍할 것이다.
4 Because they have forsaken me, and have defiled this place, and have burned incense in it to other gods that they didn’t know — they, their fathers, and the kings of Judah — and have filled this place with the blood of innocents,Because they have forsaken me, and have estranged this place, and have burned incense in it unto other gods, that they knew not, they and their fathers and the kings of Judah, and have filled this place with the blood of innocents,이는 그들이 나를 버리고 이곳을 낯설게 만들었으며, 그들과 그들의 조상과 유다 왕들이 알지 못하던 다른 신들에게 이곳에서 분향하고, 이곳을 죄 없는 자들의 피로 가득 채웠기 때문이다.
5 and have built the high places of Baal to burn their children in the fire for burnt offerings to Baal, which I didn’t command, nor speak, which didn’t even enter into my mind.and have built the high places of Baal, to burn their sons in the fire for burnt-offerings unto Baal; which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind:또 그들은 바알의 산당을 세우고, 자기 아들들을 불에 태워 바알에게 번제로 바쳤으니, 이는 내가 명령한 적도 없고, 말한 적도 없으며, 내 마음에 떠오른 적도 없는 일이다.
6 Therefore, behold, the days come,” says Yahweh, “ that this place will no more be called ‘ Topheth’, nor ‘ The Valley of the son of Hinnom’, but ‘ The valley of Slaughter’.therefore, behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that this place shall no more be called Topheth, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The valley of Slaughter.그러므로 보라, 날이 이르면, 이곳이 더 이상 도벳이나 한놈의 아들 골짜기라 불리지 않고, 도살의 골짜기라 불릴 것이다. 여호와의 말씀이다.
7 “‘“ I will make the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem void in this place. I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hand of those who seek their life. I will give their dead bodies to be food for the birds of the sky and for the animals of the earth.And I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place; and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hand of them that seek their life: and their dead bodies will I give to be food for the birds of the heavens, and for the beasts of the earth.내가 이곳에서 유다와 예루살렘의 계획을 무너뜨리고, 그들을 원수 앞에서, 또 그들의 목숨을 노리는 자들의 손에 칼로 쓰러지게 할 것이다. 또 그들의 시체를 공중의 새와 땅의 짐승에게 먹이로 줄 것이다.
8 I will make this city an astonishment and a hissing. Everyone who passes by it will be astonished and hiss because of all its plagues.And I will make this city an astonishment, and a hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished and hiss because of all the plagues thereof.내가 이 성읍을 폐허로 만들어 사람들이 비웃는 대상이 되게 하리니, 지나가는 자마다 그 모든 재앙을 보고 놀라며 비웃을 것이다.
9 I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters. They will each eat the flesh of his friend in the siege and in the distress with which their enemies, and those who seek their life, will distress them.”’And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters; and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend, in the siege and in the distress, wherewith their enemies, and they that seek their life, shall distress them.또 내가 그들로 하여금 자기 아들의 살과 딸의 살을 먹게 하리니, 원수들과 목숨을 노리는 자들이 그들을 에워싸 괴롭히는 그 포위와 곤경 속에서, 그들이 저마다 자기 이웃의 살을 먹을 것이다.'
10 “ Then you shall break the container in the sight of the men who go with you,Then shalt thou break the bottle in the sight of the men that go with thee,그런 다음 너는 함께 간 사람들이 보는 앞에서 그 병을 깨뜨리고,
11 and shall tell them, ‘ Yahweh of Armies says: “ Even so I will break this people and this city as one breaks a potter’s vessel, that can’t be made whole again. They will bury in Topheth until there is no place to bury.and shalt say unto them, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Even so will I break this people and this city, as one breaketh a potter’s vessel, that cannot be made whole again; and they shall bury in Topheth, till there be no place to bury.그들에게 이렇게 말하여라. '만군의 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 토기장이의 그릇을 한번 깨뜨리면 다시 온전하게 할 수 없듯이, 내가 이 백성과 이 성읍을 그렇게 깨뜨릴 것이다. 또 묻을 자리가 없을 만큼 도벳에 묻을 것이다.
12 This is what I will do to this place,” says Yahweh, “ and to its inhabitants, even making this city as Topheth.Thus will I do unto this place, saith Jehovah, and to the inhabitants thereof, even making this city as Topheth:내가 이곳과 이곳 주민들에게 이렇게 행하여, 이 성읍을 도벳처럼 만들 것이다. 여호와의 말씀이다.
13 The houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah, which are defiled, will be as the place of Topheth, even all the houses on whose roofs they have burned incense to all the army of the sky and have poured out drink offerings to other gods.”’”and the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, which are defiled, shall be as the place of Topheth, even all the houses upon whose roofs they have burned incense unto all the host of heaven, and have poured out drink-offerings unto other gods.또 예루살렘의 집들과 유다 왕들의 집들, 곧 더럽혀진 모든 집이 도벳 같은 곳이 되리니, 그 집들은 지붕 위에서 하늘의 모든 군대에게 분향하고 다른 신들에게 전제를 부어 바친 집들이다.'"
14 Then Jeremiah came from Topheth, where Yahweh had sent him to prophesy, and he stood in the court of Yahweh’s house, and said to all the people:Then came Jeremiah from Topheth, whither Jehovah had sent him to prophesy; and he stood in the court of Jehovah’s house, and said to all the people:그때 예레미야가 여호와께서 예언하라고 보내신 도벳에서 돌아와, 여호와의 성전 뜰에 서서 모든 백성에게 말하였다.
15 “ Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel says, ‘ Behold, I will bring on this city and on all its towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it, because they have made their neck stiff, that they may not hear my words.’”Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I will bring upon this city and upon all its towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it; because they have made their neck stiff, that they may not hear my words."만군의 여호와, 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 보라, 내가 이 성읍과 그 모든 마을에 내가 선언한 모든 재앙을 내리겠다. 이는 그들이 목을 곧게 하여 내 말씀을 듣지 않으려 했기 때문이다."
