1 Yahweh showed me, and behold, two baskets of figs were set before Yahweh’s temple, after Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, with the craftsmen and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon.Jehovah showed me, and, behold, two baskets of figs set before the temple of Jehovah, after that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, with the craftsmen and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon.여호와께서 내게 보여 주셨다. 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살이 여호야김의 아들 유다 왕 여고냐와 유다의 고관들과 기술자들과 대장장이들을 예루살렘에서 사로잡아 바벨론으로 끌고 간 뒤였는데, 여호와의 성전 앞에 무화과 두 광주리가 놓여 있었다.
2 One basket had very good figs, like the figs that are first-ripe; and the other basket had very bad figs, which could not be eaten, they were so bad.One basket had very good figs, like the figs that are first-ripe; and the other basket had very bad figs, which could not be eaten, they were so bad.한 광주리에는 처음 익은 무화과처럼 아주 좋은 무화과가 담겼고, 다른 광주리에는 너무 나빠서 먹을 수 없는 아주 나쁜 무화과가 담겨 있었다.
3 Then Yahweh asked me, “ What do you see, Jeremiah?” I said, “ Figs. The good figs are very good, and the bad are very bad, so bad that they can’t be eaten.”Then said Jehovah unto me, What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the bad, very bad, that cannot be eaten, they are so bad.그때 여호와께서 내게 말씀하셨다. "예레미야야, 무엇이 보이느냐?" 내가 대답했다. "무화과입니다. 좋은 무화과는 아주 좋고, 나쁜 무화과는 너무 나빠서 먹을 수 없을 만큼 아주 나쁩니다."
4 Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,여호와의 말씀이 내게 임하여 이르셨다.
5 “ Yahweh, the God of Israel says: ‘ Like these good figs, so I will regard the captives of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans, as good.Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: Like these good figs, so will I regard the captives of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans, for good."이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 이 좋은 무화과처럼, 내가 이곳에서 갈대아 사람의 땅으로 보낸 유다의 포로들을 내가 좋게 여기겠다.
6 For I will set my eyes on them for good, and I will bring them again to this land. I will build them, and not pull them down. I will plant them, and not pluck them up.For I will set mine eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up.내가 그들을 좋게 보아 다시 이 땅으로 데려오겠다. 내가 그들을 세우고 헐지 않겠으며, 내가 그들을 심고 뽑지 않겠다.
7 I will give them a heart to know me, that I am Yahweh. They will be my people, and I will be their God; for they will return to me with their whole heart.And I will give them a heart to know me, that I am Jehovah: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God; for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.내가 그들에게 나를 아는 마음을 주어 내가 여호와인 줄 알게 하겠다. 그들은 내 백성이 되고 나는 그들의 하나님이 되겠다. 이는 그들이 온 마음으로 내게 돌아올 것이기 때문이다.
8 “‘ As the bad figs, which can’t be eaten, they are so bad,’ surely Yahweh says, ‘ So I will give up Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the remnant of Jerusalem who remain in this land, and those who dwell in the land of Egypt.And as the bad figs, which cannot be eaten, they are so bad, surely thus saith Jehovah, So will I give up Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the residue of Jerusalem, that remain in this land, and them that dwell in the land of Egypt,나쁜 무화과, 곧 너무 나빠서 먹을 수 없는 그 무화과처럼, 여호와께서 분명히 이렇게 말씀하신다. 내가 유다 왕 시드기야와 그의 고관들과 이 땅에 남아 있는 예루살렘의 남은 자들과 이집트 땅에 사는 자들을 그렇게 버리겠다.
9 I will even give them up to be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth for evil, to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places where I will drive them.I will even give them up to be tossed to and fro among all the kingdoms of the earth for evil; to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places whither I shall drive them.내가 그들을 땅의 모든 나라에 던져져 이리저리 휘둘리게 하여 재앙을 당하게 하겠고, 내가 그들을 쫓아 보내는 모든 곳에서 그들이 수치와 속담거리와 조롱거리와 저줏거리가 되게 하겠다.
10 I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence among them, until they are consumed from off the land that I gave to them and to their fathers.’”And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, till they be consumed from off the land that I gave unto them and to their fathers.내가 그들 가운데 칼과 기근과 전염병을 보내어, 내가 그들과 그들의 조상에게 준 땅에서 그들이 다 멸절될 때까지 그리하겠다."
