1 The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, when King Zedekiah sent to him Pashhur the son of Malchijah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, saying,The word which came unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, when king Zedekiah sent unto him Pashhur the son of Malchijah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, saying,시드기야 왕이 말기야의 아들 바스훌과 제사장 마아세야의 아들 스바냐를 예레미야에게 보냈을 때에, 여호와께로부터 예레미야에게 임한 말씀입니다.
2 “ Please inquire of Yahweh for us; for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon makes war against us. Perhaps Yahweh will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may withdraw from us.”Inquire, I pray thee, of Jehovah for us; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon maketh war against us: peradventure Jehovah will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us.그들이 이렇게 말했습니다. "바벨론 왕 느부갓네살이 우리를 치려고 전쟁을 일으켰으니, 우리를 위하여 여호와께 여쭈어 주십시오. 혹시 여호와께서 그 모든 놀라운 일들을 따라 우리에게 행하셔서 그가 우리에게서 물러가게 하실지도 모릅니다."
3 Then Jeremiah said to them, “Tell Zedekiah:Then said Jeremiah unto them, Thus shall ye say to Zedekiah:그러자 예레미야가 그들에게 말했습니다. "여러분은 시드기야에게 이렇게 전하십시오.
4 ‘ Yahweh, the God of Israel says, “ Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, with which you fight against the king of Babylon, and against the Chaldeans who besiege you outside the walls; and I will gather them into the middle of this city.Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, wherewith ye fight against the king of Babylon, and against the Chaldeans that besiege you, without the walls; and I will gather them into the midst of this city.이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다. 보아라, 너희가 성벽 밖에서 바벨론 왕과 너희를 에워싼 갈대아 사람들과 싸우려고 손에 들고 있는 무기들을, 내가 도로 돌이켜 이 성 한가운데로 모으겠다.
5 I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, in wrath, and in great indignation.And I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation.그리고 내가 친히 손을 펴고 강한 팔로, 곧 분노와 진노와 큰 격분으로 너희를 치며 싸우겠다.
6 I will strike the inhabitants of this city, both man and animal. They will die of a great pestilence.And I will smite the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast: they shall die of a great pestilence.내가 이 성에 사는 사람과 짐승을 다 치리니, 그들은 큰 전염병으로 죽을 것이다.
7 Afterward,” says Yahweh, “ I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, his servants, and the people, even those who are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those who seek their life. He will strike them with the edge of the sword. He will not spare them, have pity, or have mercy.”’And afterward, saith Jehovah, I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, and his servants, and the people, even such as are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those that seek their life: and he shall smite them with the edge of the sword; he shall not spare them, neither have pity, nor have mercy.그 후에, 여호와의 말씀이다, 내가 유다 왕 시드기야와 그의 신하들과 백성, 곧 이 성에서 전염병과 칼과 굶주림에서 살아남은 자들을 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살의 손과 그들의 원수들의 손, 그리고 그들의 목숨을 노리는 자들의 손에 넘겨주겠다. 그가 칼날로 그들을 치되, 아끼지 않고 불쌍히 여기지 않으며 긍휼히 여기지 않을 것이다.
8 “ You shall say to this people, ‘ Yahweh says: “ Behold, I set before you the way of life and the way of death.And unto this people thou shalt say, Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I set before you the way of life and the way of death.너는 이 백성에게 이렇게 말하여라. 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다. 보아라, 내가 너희 앞에 생명의 길과 죽음의 길을 두었다.
9 He who remains in this city will die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, but he who goes out and passes over to the Chaldeans who besiege you, he will live, and he will escape with his life.He that abideth in this city shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence; but he that goeth out, and passeth over to the Chaldeans that besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be unto him for a prey.이 성에 머무는 사람은 칼과 굶주림과 전염병으로 죽을 것이나, 밖으로 나가서 너희를 에워싼 갈대아 사람들에게 항복하는 사람은 살 것이니, 그 목숨이 그에게는 노략물처럼 건진 바가 될 것이다.
10 For I have set my face on this city for evil, and not for good,” says Yahweh. “ It will be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will burn it with fire.”’For I have set my face upon this city for evil, and not for good, saith Jehovah: it shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire.여호와의 말씀이다. 내가 이 성을 향하여 화를 내리려고 얼굴을 향하였고 복을 주려 하지 않았으니, 이 성은 바벨론 왕의 손에 넘겨져 그가 불로 태울 것이다.
11 “ Concerning the house of the king of Judah, hear Yahweh’s word:And touching the house of the king of Judah, hear ye the word of Jehovah:유다 왕의 집에 대하여는, 여호와의 말씀을 들으라.
12 House of David, Yahweh says, ‘ Execute justice in the morning, and deliver him who is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my wrath go out like fire, and burn so that no one can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.O house of David, thus saith Jehovah, Execute justice in the morning, and deliver him that is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my wrath go forth like fire, and burn so that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.다윗의 집이여, 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다. 너희는 아침마다 공의로 재판하고, 강탈당한 사람을 압제자의 손에서 건져 내어라. 그렇지 않으면 너희의 악한 행실 때문에 나의 진노가 불처럼 터져 나와, 아무도 끌 수 없게 타오를 것이다.
13 Behold, I am against you, O inhabitant of the valley, and of the rock of the plain,’ says Yahweh. ‘ You that say, “ Who would come down against us?” or, “ Who would enter into our homes?”Behold, I am against thee, O inhabitant of the valley, and of the rock of the plain, saith Jehovah; you that say, Who shall come down against us? or who shall enter into our habitations?골짜기에 사는 자여, 평지의 바위에 사는 자여, 보아라, 내가 너를 대적한다. 여호와의 말씀이다. 너희는 '누가 우리를 치러 내려오겠느냐? 누가 우리 거처에 들어오겠느냐?' 하고 말하는구나.
14 I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings,’ says Yahweh; ‘ and I will kindle a fire in her forest, and it will devour all that is around her.’”And I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, saith Jehovah; and I will kindle a fire in her forest, and it shall devour all that is round about her.여호와의 말씀이다. 내가 너희 행실의 열매를 따라 너희를 벌하겠고, 그 숲에 불을 놓아 그 주위를 둘러싼 모든 것을 태워 버리겠다."
