1 Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the residue of the elders of the captivity, and to the priests, to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon,Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the residue of the elders of the captivity, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people, whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon,이것은 예언자 예레미야가 예루살렘에서 보낸 편지의 내용입니다. 그는 느부갓네살이 예루살렘에서 바벨론으로 사로잡아 간 포로 가운데 남은 장로들과 제사장들과 예언자들과 모든 백성에게 이 편지를 보냈습니다.
2 ( after Jeconiah the king, the queen mother, the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, the craftsmen, and the smiths had departed from Jerusalem ),( after that Jeconiah the king, and the queen-mother, and the eunuchs, and the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the craftsmen, and the smiths, were departed from Jerusalem ),(이것은 여고냐 왕과 태후와 내시들과 유다와 예루살렘의 고관들과 목수들과 대장장이들이 예루살렘에서 떠나간 뒤의 일입니다.)
3 by the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent to Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon). It said:by the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent unto Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon), saying,그는 유다 왕 시드기야가 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살에게 보낸 사반의 아들 엘라사와 힐기야의 아들 그마랴 편에 이 편지를 보내며 이렇게 말했습니다.
4 Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says to all the captives whom I have caused to be carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon:Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all the captivity, whom I have caused to be carried away captive from Jerusalem unto Babylon:만군의 여호와, 이스라엘의 하나님께서 내가 예루살렘에서 바벨론으로 사로잡혀 가게 한 모든 포로에게 이렇게 말씀하십니다.
5 “ Build houses and dwell in them. Plant gardens and eat their fruit.Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them.너희는 집을 짓고 거기에서 살아라. 그리고 밭을 일구어 그 열매를 먹어라.
6 Take wives and father sons and daughters. Take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters. Multiply there, and don’t be diminished.Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters: and multiply ye there, and be not diminished.아내를 맞아 아들딸을 낳고, 너희 아들들에게도 아내를 얻어 주고 너희 딸들도 남편에게 시집보내어 그들이 아들딸을 낳게 하여라. 그곳에서 번성하고 줄어들지 않게 하여라.
7 Seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to Yahweh for it; for in its peace you will have peace.”And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray unto Jehovah for it; for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.내가 너희를 사로잡혀 가게 한 그 성읍의 평안을 구하고 그 성읍을 위해 여호와께 기도하여라. 그 성읍이 평안해야 너희도 평안할 것이기 때문이다.
8 For Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel says: “Don’t let your prophets who are among you and your diviners deceive you. Don’t listen to your dreams which you cause to be dreamed.For thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Let not your prophets that are in the midst of you, and your diviners, deceive you; neither hearken ye to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.만군의 여호와, 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다. 너희 가운데 있는 예언자들과 점쟁이들에게 속지 말고, 너희가 꾸게 한 그 꿈에도 귀 기울이지 말아라.
9 For they prophesy falsely to you in my name. I have not sent them,” says Yahweh.For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith Jehovah.그들은 내 이름으로 너희에게 거짓을 예언하고 있다. 나는 그들을 보내지 않았다. 여호와의 말씀이다.
10 For Yahweh says, “ After seventy years are accomplished for Babylon, I will visit you and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.For thus saith Jehovah, After seventy years are accomplished for Babylon, I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다. 바벨론을 위한 칠십 년이 차면 내가 너희를 돌보아 너희에게 한 나의 선한 약속을 이루어 너희를 이곳으로 돌아오게 하겠다.
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says Yahweh, “ thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith Jehovah, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope in your latter end.내가 너희를 향해 품은 생각을 내가 알고 있다. 그것은 평안의 생각이지 재앙의 생각이 아니며, 너희에게 소망과 미래를 주려는 것이다. 여호와의 말씀이다.
12 You shall call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you.And ye shall call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.그때 너희가 나를 부르고 나아와 내게 기도하면 내가 너희 말을 들어 주겠다.
13 You shall seek me and find me, when you search for me with all your heart.And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.너희가 온 마음을 다해 나를 찾으면 나를 찾을 것이고, 나를 만날 것이다.
14 I will be found by you,” says Yahweh, “ and I will turn again your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places where I have driven you,” says Yahweh. “ I will bring you again to the place from where I caused you to be carried away captive.”And I will be found of you, saith Jehovah, and I will turn again your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith Jehovah; and I will bring you again unto the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.내가 너희에게 나를 만나게 해 주겠다. 여호와의 말씀이다. 내가 너희를 사로잡힌 데서 돌이키고, 내가 너희를 쫓아 보낸 모든 민족과 모든 곳에서 너희를 모아, 내가 사로잡혀 가게 한 그곳으로 너희를 다시 데려오겠다. 여호와의 말씀이다.
15 Because you have said, “ Yahweh has raised us up prophets in Babylon,”Because ye have said, Jehovah hath raised us up prophets in Babylon;너희가 "여호와께서 바벨론에서 우리를 위해 예언자들을 일으키셨다"라고 말하지만,
16 Yahweh says concerning the king who sits on David’s throne, and concerning all the people who dwell in this city, your brothers who haven’t gone with you into captivity,thus saith Jehovah concerning the king that sitteth upon the throne of David, and concerning all the people that dwell in this city, your brethren that are not gone forth with you into captivity;다윗의 보좌에 앉은 왕과 이 성에 사는 모든 백성, 곧 너희와 함께 포로로 끌려가지 않은 너희 형제들에 대해 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다.
17 Yahweh of Armies says: “ Behold, I will send on them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like rotten figs that can’t be eaten, they are so bad.thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that cannot be eaten, they are so bad.만군의 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다. 보아라, 내가 그들에게 칼과 기근과 전염병을 보내어, 그들을 너무 상해서 먹을 수 없는 몹쓸 무화과처럼 만들겠다.
18 I will pursue after them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will deliver them to be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth, to be an object of horror, an astonishment, a hissing, and a reproach among all the nations where I have driven them,And I will pursue after them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will deliver them to be tossed to and fro among all the kingdoms of the earth, to be an execration, and an astonishment, and a hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations whither I have driven them;내가 칼과 기근과 전염병으로 그들을 쫓아가, 그들을 세상 모든 나라 가운데로 내던져, 내가 그들을 쫓아 보낸 모든 민족 가운데서 두려움의 대상이 되고 놀람과 조롱과 치욕거리가 되게 하겠다.
19 because they have not listened to my words,” says Yahweh, “ with which I sent to them my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but you would not hear,” says Yahweh.because they have not hearkened to my words, saith Jehovah, wherewith I sent unto them my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but ye would not hear, saith Jehovah.이는 그들이 내 말을 듣지 않았기 때문이다. 여호와의 말씀이다. 내가 내 종 예언자들을 그들에게 부지런히 거듭 보냈으나 너희가 듣지 않았다. 여호와의 말씀이다.
20 Hear therefore Yahweh’s word, all you captives whom I have sent away from Jerusalem to Babylon.Hear ye therefore the word of Jehovah, all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent away from Jerusalem to Babylon.그러므로 내가 예루살렘에서 바벨론으로 보낸 모든 포로들아, 너희는 여호와의 말씀을 들어라.
21 Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and concerning Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who prophesy a lie to you in my name: “ Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and he will kill them before your eyes.Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and concerning Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who prophesy a lie unto you in my name: Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall slay them before your eyes;내 이름으로 너희에게 거짓을 예언하는 골라야의 아들 아합과 마아세야의 아들 시드기야에 대해 만군의 여호와, 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다. 보아라, 내가 그들을 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살의 손에 넘겨주겠다. 그가 너희 눈앞에서 그들을 죽일 것이다.
22 A curse will be taken up about them by all the captives of Judah who are in Babylon, saying, ‘ Yahweh make you like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;’and of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captives of Judah that are in Babylon, saying, Jehovah make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;바벨론에 있는 유다의 모든 포로가 그들로 인해 저주의 말을 들 것이니, "여호와께서 너를 바벨론 왕이 불에 태워 죽인 시드기야와 아합처럼 되게 하시기를 바란다"라고 할 것이다.
23 because they have done foolish things in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives, and have spoken words in my name falsely, which I didn’t command them. I am he who knows, and am witness,” says Yahweh.because they have wrought folly in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives, and have spoken words in my name falsely, which I commanded them not; and I am he that knoweth, and am witness, saith Jehovah.이는 그들이 이스라엘 가운데서 어리석은 일을 행하여 이웃의 아내들과 간음하고, 내가 명령하지 않은 거짓말을 내 이름으로 말했기 때문이다. 나는 그것을 아는 자요 증인이다. 여호와의 말씀이다.
24 Concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite you shall speak, saying,And concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite thou shalt speak, saying,너는 느헬람 사람 스마야에 대해 이렇게 말하여라.
25 “ Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says, ‘ Because you have sent letters in your own name to all the people who are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, and to all the priests, saying,Thus speaketh Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, Because thou hast sent letters in thine own name unto all the people that are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, and to all the priests, saying,만군의 여호와, 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다. 네가 네 이름으로 예루살렘에 있는 모든 백성과 마아세야의 아들 스바냐 제사장과 모든 제사장에게 편지를 보내어 이렇게 말했다.
26 “ Yahweh has made you priest in the place of Jehoiada the priest, that there may be officers in Yahweh’s house, for every man who is crazy and makes himself a prophet, that you should put him in the stocks and in shackles.Jehovah hath made thee priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that there may be officers in the house of Jehovah, for every man that is mad, and maketh himself a prophet, that thou shouldest put him in the stocks and in shackles."여호와께서 여호야다 제사장을 대신하여 너를 제사장으로 세우셨으니, 여호와의 집에 관리들을 두어, 미쳐서 스스로 예언자 행세를 하는 자가 있으면 차꼬와 쇠고랑을 채우게 하셨다.
27 Now therefore, why have you not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth, who makes himself a prophet to you,Now therefore, why hast thou not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth, who maketh himself a prophet to you,그런데 너희에게 스스로 예언자 행세를 하는 아나돗 사람 예레미야를 어찌하여 책망하지 않았느냐?
28 because he has sent to us in Babylon, saying, The captivity is long. Build houses, and dwell in them. Plant gardens, and eat their fruit?”’”forasmuch as he hath sent unto us in Babylon, saying, The captivity is long: build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them?그가 바벨론에 있는 우리에게 사람을 보내어 '포로 생활이 오래 갈 것이니, 너희는 집을 짓고 거기 살며 밭을 일구어 그 열매를 먹어라'라고 말했다."
29 Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the hearing of Jeremiah the prophet.And Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet.스바냐 제사장이 이 편지를 예언자 예레미야에게 읽어 주었습니다.
30 Then Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah, saying,Then came the word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah, saying,그때 여호와의 말씀이 예레미야에게 임하여 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다.
31 “ Send to all of the captives, saying, ‘ Yahweh says concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite: “ Because Shemaiah has prophesied to you, and I didn’t send him, and he has caused you to trust in a lie,”Send to all them of the captivity, saying, Thus saith Jehovah concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite: Because that Shemaiah hath prophesied unto you, and I sent him not, and he hath caused you to trust in a lie;모든 포로에게 사람을 보내어 이렇게 말하여라. 느헬람 사람 스마야에 대해 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 스마야가 너희에게 예언했으나 나는 그를 보내지 않았고, 그가 너희로 하여금 거짓을 믿게 했다.
32 therefore Yahweh says, “ Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite and his offspring. He will not have a man to dwell among this people. He won’t see the good that I will do to my people,” says Yahweh, “ because he has spoken rebellion against Yahweh.”’”therefore thus saith Jehovah, Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed; he shall not have a man to dwell among this people, neither shall he behold the good that I will do unto my people, saith Jehovah, because he hath spoken rebellion against Jehovah.그러므로 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 보아라, 내가 느헬람 사람 스마야와 그의 자손을 벌하겠다. 그에게는 이 백성 가운데 살아남을 자가 없을 것이며, 내가 내 백성에게 베풀 복도 보지 못할 것이다. 이는 그가 여호와를 거역하는 말을 했기 때문이다. 여호와의 말씀이다.
