1 The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,The word that came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying,여호와께로부터 예레미야에게 말씀이 임하여 이르셨다.
2 “ Hear the words of this covenant, and speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak unto the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;이 언약의 말씀을 듣고, 유다 사람들과 예루살렘 주민들에게 전하여라.
3 and say to them, Yahweh, the God of Israel says: ‘Cursed is the man who doesn’t hear the words of this covenant,and say thou unto them, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: Cursed be the man that heareth not the words of this covenant,그들에게 이렇게 말하여라. 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 이 언약의 말씀을 듣지 않는 사람은 저주를 받을 것이다.
4 which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the iron furnace,’ saying, ‘ Obey my voice and do them, according to all which I command you; so you shall be my people, and I will be your God;which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God;이 언약은 내가 너희 조상들을 이집트 땅, 곧 쇠 풀무에서 이끌어 내던 날에 그들에게 명령한 것이다. 내가 이르기를, 내 목소리에 순종하고 내가 너희에게 명령하는 모든 것을 그대로 행하여라. 그리하면 너희는 내 백성이 되고 나는 너희 하나님이 될 것이라고 하였다.
5 that I may establish the oath which I swore to your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey,’ as it is today.” Then I answered, and said, “Amen, Yahweh.”that I may establish the oath which I sware unto your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as at this day. Then answered I, and said, Amen, O Jehovah.또 내가 너희 조상들에게 맹세한 그 맹세, 곧 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅을 그들에게 주겠다고 한 맹세를 오늘날처럼 이루려는 것이었다. 그때 내가 대답하여 말하기를, 아멘, 여호와여, 하였다.
6 Yahweh said to me, “ Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, ‘ Hear the words of this covenant, and do them.And Jehovah said unto me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them.여호와께서 내게 말씀하셨다. 너는 이 모든 말씀을 유다의 성읍들과 예루살렘의 거리에서 선포하여, 이 언약의 말씀을 듣고 행하라고 하여라.
7 For I earnestly protested to your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even to this day, rising early and protesting, saying, “ Obey my voice.”For I earnestly protested unto your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even unto this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice.내가 너희 조상들을 이집트 땅에서 이끌어 올리던 날부터 오늘까지, 부지런히 일찍이 거듭거듭 엄히 경고하며, 내 목소리에 순종하라고 하였다.
8 Yet they didn’t obey, nor turn their ear, but everyone walked in the stubbornness of their evil heart. Therefore I brought on them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do, but they didn’t do them.’”Yet they obeyed not, nor inclined their ear, but walked every one in the stubbornness of their evil heart: therefore I brought upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do, but they did them not.그러나 그들은 순종하지 않았고 귀를 기울이지도 않았으며, 저마다 자기의 악한 마음의 완고함을 따라 행하였다. 그러므로 내가 행하라고 명령한 이 언약의 모든 말씀을 내가 그들에게 임하게 하였으니, 그들이 그것을 행하지 않았기 때문이다.
9 Yahweh said to me, “ A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.And Jehovah said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.여호와께서 내게 말씀하셨다. 유다 사람들과 예루살렘 주민들 가운데 음모가 발견되었다.
10 They have turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, who refused to hear my words. They have gone after other gods to serve them. The house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, who refused to hear my words; and they are gone after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.그들은 내 말을 듣기를 거절한 그들의 조상들의 죄악으로 되돌아갔고, 다른 신들을 따라가 섬겼다. 이스라엘 집과 유다 집이 내가 그들의 조상들과 맺은 내 언약을 깨뜨렸다.
11 Therefore Yahweh says, ‘ Behold, I will bring evil on them which they will not be able to escape; and they will cry to me, but I will not listen to them.Therefore thus saith Jehovah, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and they shall cry unto me, but I will not hearken unto them.그러므로 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 보아라, 내가 그들이 피할 수 없는 재앙을 그들에게 내릴 것이다. 그들이 내게 부르짖어도 나는 그들의 소리를 듣지 않을 것이다.
12 Then the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem will go and cry to the gods to which they offer incense, but they will not save them at all in the time of their trouble.Then shall the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem go and cry unto the gods unto which they offer incense: but they will not save them at all in the time of their trouble.그때 유다의 성읍들과 예루살렘의 주민들이 가서, 자기들이 분향하던 신들에게 부르짖을 것이다. 그러나 그 신들은 그들의 재난의 때에 결코 그들을 구원하지 못할 것이다.
13 For according to the number of your cities are your gods, Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem you have set up altars to the shameful thing, even altars to burn incense to Baal.’For according to the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to the shameful thing, even altars to burn incense unto Baal.유다야, 네 성읍의 수만큼 네 신들이 많고, 예루살렘의 거리 수만큼 너희가 그 수치스러운 것에게 제단을 세웠으니, 곧 바알에게 분향하는 제단들이다.
14 “ Therefore don’t pray for this people. Don’t lift up cry or prayer for them; for I will not hear them in the time that they cry to me because of their trouble.Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them; for I will not hear them in the time that they cry unto me because of their trouble.그러므로 너는 이 백성을 위하여 기도하지 말고, 그들을 위하여 부르짖거나 간구하지도 말아라. 그들이 재난 때문에 내게 부르짖을 때에 나는 그들의 소리를 듣지 않을 것이기 때문이다.
15 What has my beloved to do in my house, since she has behaved lewdly with many, and the holy flesh has passed from you? When you do evil, then you rejoice.”What hath my beloved to do in my house, seeing she hath wrought lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from thee? when thou doest evil, then thou rejoicest.내가 사랑하는 자가 많은 자와 음란을 행하였는데, 내 집에서 무엇을 하겠느냐? 거룩한 제물의 고기가 네게서 떠나갔다. 네가 악을 행할 때에 오히려 즐거워하는구나.
16 Yahweh called your name, “ A green olive tree, beautiful with goodly fruit.” With the noise of a great roar he has kindled fire on it, and its branches are broken.Jehovah called thy name, A green olive-tree, fair with goodly fruit: with the noise of a great tumult he hath kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken.여호와께서 너를 일컬어, 아름다운 열매가 달린 푸른 올리브나무라 하셨다. 그러나 큰 소동의 소리와 함께 그분께서 그 나무에 불을 지르셨고, 그 가지들이 꺾였다.
17 For Yahweh of Armies, who planted you, has pronounced evil against you, because of the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done to themselves in provoking me to anger by offering incense to Baal.For Jehovah of hosts, who planted thee, hath pronounced evil against thee, because of the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have wrought for themselves in provoking me to anger by offering incense unto Baal.너를 심으신 만군의 여호와께서 네게 재앙을 선언하셨으니, 이는 이스라엘 집과 유다 집이 스스로 행한 악, 곧 바알에게 분향하여 나를 분노하게 한 그 악 때문이다.
18 Yahweh gave me knowledge of it, and I knew it. Then you showed me their doings.And Jehovah gave me knowledge of it, and I knew it: then thou showedst me their doings.여호와께서 내게 그것을 알게 하셨으므로 내가 알았다. 그때 주께서 그들의 소행을 내게 보여 주셨다.
19 But I was like a gentle lamb that is led to the slaughter. I didn’t know that they had devised plans against me, saying, “ Let’s destroy the tree with its fruit, and let’s cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.”But I was like a gentle lamb that is led to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.그러나 나는 도살장으로 끌려가는 순한 어린 양 같아서, 그들이 나를 해치려고 음모를 꾸민 것을 알지 못하였다. 그들이 말하기를, 그 나무를 열매째 멸하고, 그를 산 자의 땅에서 끊어 버려 그의 이름이 다시는 기억되지 못하게 하자고 하였다.
20 But, Yahweh of Armies, who judges righteously, who tests the heart and the mind, I will see your vengeance on them; for to you I have revealed my cause.But, O Jehovah of hosts, who judgest righteously, who triest the heart and the mind, I shall see thy vengeance on them; for unto thee have I revealed my cause.그러나 의롭게 심판하시며 마음과 생각을 살피시는 만군의 여호와여, 나는 주께서 그들에게 보복하시는 것을 보겠습니다. 내가 내 사정을 주께 아뢰었기 때문입니다.
21 “ Therefore Yahweh says concerning the men of Anathoth, who seek your life, saying, ‘ You shall not prophesy in Yahweh’s name, that you not die by our hand’—Therefore thus saith Jehovah concerning the men of Anathoth, that seek thy life, saying, Thou shalt not prophesy in the name of Jehovah, that thou die not by our hand;그러므로 여호와께서 아나돗 사람들에 관하여 이렇게 말씀하신다. 그들이 네 생명을 노리며 말하기를, 네가 여호와의 이름으로 예언하지 말아라. 그러지 않으면 네가 우리 손에 죽을 것이라고 한다.
22 therefore Yahweh of Armies says, ‘ Behold, I will punish them. The young men will die by the sword. Their sons and their daughters will die by famine.therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts, Behold, I will punish them: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine;그러므로 만군의 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 보아라, 내가 그들을 벌할 것이다. 젊은이들은 칼에 죽고, 그들의 아들딸들은 굶주림으로 죽을 것이다.
23 There will be no remnant to them, for I will bring evil on the men of Anathoth, even the year of their visitation.’”and there shall be no remnant unto them: for I will bring evil upon the men of Anathoth, even the year of their visitation.그들에게는 남은 자가 없을 것이니, 이는 내가 아나돗 사람들에게 재앙을 내릴 것이기 때문이다. 곧 그들이 형벌받을 해이다.
