1 Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned as king instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah.And Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned as king, instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah.요시야의 아들 시드기야가 여호야김의 아들 고니야를 대신하여 왕이 되었으니, 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살이 그를 유다 땅의 왕으로 세웠다.
2 But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, listened to Yahweh’s words, which he spoke by the prophet Jeremiah.But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, did hearken unto the words of Jehovah, which he spake by the prophet Jeremiah.그러나 그도, 그의 신하들도, 그 땅의 백성도, 여호와께서 선지자 예레미야를 통해 하신 말씀에 귀 기울이지 않았다.
3 Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, “ Pray now to Yahweh our God for us.”And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Pray now unto Jehovah our God for us.시드기야 왕이 셀레먀의 아들 여후갈과 마아세야의 아들 제사장 스바냐를 선지자 예레미야에게 보내어 이렇게 말하게 했다. "우리를 위하여 우리 하나님 여호와께 기도해 주시오."
4 Now Jeremiah came in and went out among the people, for they had not put him into prison.Now Jeremiah came in and went out among the people; for they had not put him into prison.그때 예레미야는 백성 가운데를 드나들고 있었으니, 아직 사람들이 그를 감옥에 가두지 않았기 때문이다.
5 Pharaoh’s army had come out of Egypt; and when the Chaldeans who were besieging Jerusalem heard news of them, they withdrew from Jerusalem.And Pharaoh’s army was come forth out of Egypt; and when the Chaldeans that were besieging Jerusalem heard tidings of them, they brake up from Jerusalem.바로의 군대가 이집트에서 나왔는데, 예루살렘을 에워싸고 있던 바벨론 사람들이 그 소식을 듣고 예루살렘에서 물러갔다.
6 Then Yahweh’s word came to the prophet Jeremiah, saying,Then came the word of Jehovah unto the prophet Jeremiah, saying,그때 여호와의 말씀이 선지자 예레미야에게 임하여 이르셨다.
7 “ Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, ‘ You shall tell the king of Judah, who sent you to me to inquire of me: “ Behold, Pharaoh’s army, which has come out to help you, will return to Egypt into their own land.Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, Thus shall ye say to the king of Judah, that sent you unto me to inquire of me: Behold, Pharaoh’s army, which is come forth to help you, shall return to Egypt into their own land."이스라엘의 하나님 여호와가 이렇게 말한다. 나에게 물으려고 너희를 보낸 유다 왕에게 이렇게 전하여라. 보아라, 너희를 도우려고 나온 바로의 군대는 자기 땅 이집트로 돌아갈 것이다.
8 The Chaldeans will come again, and fight against this city. They will take it and burn it with fire.”’And the Chaldeans shall come again, and fight against this city; and they shall take it, and burn it with fire.그리고 바벨론 사람들이 다시 와서 이 성을 칠 것이니, 그들이 이 성을 점령하고 불로 태울 것이다.
9 “ Yahweh says, ‘Don’t deceive yourselves, saying, “ The Chaldeans will surely depart from us;” for they will not depart.Thus saith Jehovah, Deceive not yourselves, saying, The Chaldeans shall surely depart from us; for they shall not depart.여호와가 이렇게 말한다. '바벨론 사람들이 우리에게서 반드시 떠날 것이다'라고 말하며 너희 자신을 속이지 말아라. 그들은 떠나지 않을 것이다.
10 For though you had struck the whole army of the Chaldeans who fight against you, and only wounded men remained among them, they would each rise up in his tent and burn this city with fire.’”For though ye had smitten the whole army of the Chaldeans that fight against you, and there remained but wounded men among them, yet would they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with fire.너희가 비록 너희와 싸우는 바벨론 군대 전체를 쳐서 그들 가운데 부상당한 사람들만 남는다 할지라도, 그들이 저마다 자기 장막에서 일어나 이 성을 불로 태울 것이다."
11 When the army of the Chaldeans had withdrawn from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh’s army,And it came to pass that, when the army of the Chaldeans was broken up from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh’s army,바로의 군대가 두려워 바벨론 군대가 예루살렘에서 물러갔을 때에,
12 then Jeremiah went out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to receive his portion there, in the middle of the people.then Jeremiah went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to receive his portion there, in the midst of the people.예레미야가 예루살렘을 떠나 베냐민 땅으로 가서, 백성 가운데 자기 몫의 땅을 받으려 하였다.
13 When he was in Benjamin’s gate, a captain of the guard was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “ You are defecting to the Chaldeans!”And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he laid hold on Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Thou art falling away to the Chaldeans.그가 베냐민 문에 이르렀을 때, 거기에 하나냐의 손자요 셀레먀의 아들인 이리야라는 경비대장이 있었는데, 그가 선지자 예레미야를 붙잡으며 말했다. "당신은 바벨론 사람들에게 넘어가려는 것이오."
14 Then Jeremiah said, “ That is false! I am not defecting to the Chaldeans.” But he didn’t listen to him; so Irijah seized Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.Then said Jeremiah, It is false; I am not falling away to the Chaldeans. But he hearkened not to him; so Irijah laid hold on Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.예레미야가 말했다. "그것은 거짓이오. 나는 바벨론 사람들에게 넘어가려는 것이 아니오." 그러나 이리야는 그의 말을 듣지 않고 예레미야를 붙잡아 고관들에게 끌고 갔다.
15 The princes were angry with Jeremiah, and struck him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe; for they had made that the prison.And the princes were wroth with Jeremiah, and smote him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe; for they had made that the prison.고관들이 예레미야에게 노하여 그를 때리고, 서기관 요나단의 집에 가두었으니, 그들이 그 집을 감옥으로 삼았기 때문이다.
16 When Jeremiah had come into the dungeon house and into the cells, and Jeremiah had remained there many days,When Jeremiah was come into the dungeon-house, and into the cells, and Jeremiah had remained there many days;예레미야가 그 토굴 감옥의 골방에 들어가 거기서 여러 날을 지냈다.
17 then Zedekiah the king sent and had him brought out. The king asked him secretly in his house, “ Is there any word from Yahweh?” Jeremiah said, “ There is.” He also said, “ You will be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.”then Zedekiah the king sent, and fetched him: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from Jehovah? And Jeremiah said, There is. He said also, Thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.그때 시드기야 왕이 사람을 보내어 그를 데려왔다. 왕은 자기 집에서 은밀히 그에게 물었다. "여호와께로부터 온 말씀이 있소?" 예레미야가 대답했다. "있습니다. 왕은 바벨론 왕의 손에 넘겨질 것입니다."
18 Moreover Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, “ How have I sinned against you, against your servants, or against this people, that you have put me in prison?Moreover Jeremiah said unto king Zedekiah, Wherein have I sinned against thee, or against thy servants, or against this people, that ye have put me in prison?예레미야가 또 시드기야 왕에게 말했다. "내가 왕이나 왕의 신하들이나 이 백성에게 무슨 죄를 지었기에 나를 감옥에 가두셨습니까?
19 Now where are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, ‘ The king of Babylon will not come against you, nor against this land’?Where now are your prophets that prophesied unto you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land?'바벨론 왕이 왕과 이 땅을 치러 오지 않을 것입니다'라고 예언하던 왕의 선지자들이 지금 어디 있습니까?
20 Now please hear, my lord the king: please let my supplication be presented before you, that you not cause me to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.”And now hear, I pray thee, O my lord the king: let my supplication, I pray thee, be presented before thee, that thou cause me not to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.이제 내 주 왕이여, 청하건대 들어 주십시오. 내 간청을 왕 앞에 드리오니, 나를 서기관 요나단의 집으로 다시 돌려보내지 말아 주십시오. 거기서 죽을까 두렵습니다."
21 Then Zedekiah the king commanded, and they committed Jeremiah into the court of the guard. They gave him daily a loaf of bread out of the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city was gone. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.그러자 시드기야 왕이 명령하여 예레미야를 경비대 뜰에 두게 하고, 성안의 빵이 다 떨어질 때까지 빵 만드는 자들의 거리에서 날마다 빵 한 덩이씩 그에게 주게 했다. 이렇게 예레미야가 경비대 뜰에 머물렀다.
