1 After these things Yahweh’s word came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Don’t be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”After these things the word of Jehovah came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.이 일들이 있은 뒤에 여호와의 말씀이 환상 가운데 아브람에게 임하여 이르셨다. "아브람아, 두려워하지 마라. 나는 너의 방패요, 너의 지극히 큰 상급이다."
2 Abram said, “ Lord Yahweh, what will you give me, since I go childless, and he who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?”And Abram said, O Lord Jehovah, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and he that shall be possessor of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?아브람이 말했다. "주 여호와여, 제게 무엇을 주시려 합니까? 저는 자식 없이 살아가고 있고, 제 재산을 물려받을 자는 다마스쿠스 사람 엘리에셀입니다."
3 Abram said, “ Behold, you have given no children to me: and, behold, one born in my house is my heir.”And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.아브람이 또 말했다. "보십시오, 주께서 제게 자식을 주지 않으셨으니, 제 집에서 태어난 종이 제 상속자가 될 것입니다."
4 Behold, Yahweh’s word came to him, saying, “ This man will not be your heir, but he who will come out of your own body will be your heir.”And, behold, the word of Jehovah came unto him, saying, This man shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.그때 여호와의 말씀이 그에게 임하여 이르셨다. "이 사람은 네 상속자가 되지 못할 것이다. 네 몸에서 나올 자가 네 상속자가 될 것이다."
5 Yahweh brought him outside, and said, “ Look now toward the sky, and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” He said to Abram, “ So your offspring will be.”And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and number the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.여호와께서 그를 밖으로 데리고 나가 말씀하셨다. "이제 하늘을 우러러보아라. 별들을 셀 수 있거든 세어 보아라." 그리고 그에게 말씀하셨다. "네 자손이 이와 같이 될 것이다."
6 He believed in Yahweh, who credited it to him for righteousness.And he believed in Jehovah; and he reckoned it to him for righteousness.아브람이 여호와를 믿으니, 여호와께서 이것을 그에게 의로 여기셨다.
7 He said to Abram, “ I am Yahweh who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give you this land to inherit it.”And he said unto him, I am Jehovah that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it.또 그에게 말씀하셨다. "나는 이 땅을 네게 주어 차지하게 하려고 너를 갈대아 우르에서 이끌어 낸 여호와다."
8 He said, “ Lord Yahweh, how will I know that I will inherit it?”And he said, O Lord Jehovah, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?아브람이 말했다. "주 여호와여, 제가 이 땅을 차지하게 될 것을 무엇으로 알 수 있겠습니까?"
9 He said to him, “ Bring me a heifer three years old, a female goat three years old, a ram three years old, a turtledove, and a young pigeon.”And he said unto him, Take me a heifer three years old, and a she-goat three years old, and a ram three years old, and a turtle-dove, and a young pigeon.여호와께서 그에게 말씀하셨다. "삼 년 된 암송아지와 삼 년 된 암염소와 삼 년 된 숫양과 산비둘기와 어린 집비둘기를 내게 가져오너라."
10 He brought him all these, and divided them in the middle, and laid each half opposite the other; but he didn’t divide the birds.And he took him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each half over against the other: but the birds divided he not.아브람이 이 모든 것을 가져다가 가운데를 쪼개어 그 쪼갠 것을 서로 마주 보게 놓았으나, 새들은 쪼개지 않았다.
11 The birds of prey came down on the carcasses, and Abram drove them away.And the birds of prey came down upon the carcasses, and Abram drove them away.솔개들이 그 사체 위로 내려오니, 아브람이 그것들을 쫓아냈다.
12 When the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell on Abram. Now terror and great darkness fell on him.And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, a horror of great darkness fell upon him.해가 질 무렵 깊은 잠이 아브람에게 임하더니, 무서운 공포와 큰 어둠이 그를 덮쳤다.
13 He said to Abram, “ Know for sure that your offspring will live as foreigners in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them. They will afflict them four hundred years.And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be sojourners in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;여호와께서 아브람에게 말씀하셨다. "너는 분명히 알아 두어라. 네 자손이 자기 것이 아닌 땅에서 나그네로 살며 그들을 섬길 것이고, 그들이 네 자손을 사백 년 동안 괴롭힐 것이다.
14 I will also judge that nation, whom they will serve. Afterward they will come out with great wealth;and also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.그러나 네 자손이 섬길 그 민족을 내가 심판할 것이며, 그 후에 네 자손이 많은 재물을 가지고 나올 것이다.
15 but you will go to your fathers in peace. You will be buried at a good old age.But thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.너는 평안히 네 조상들에게로 돌아가 좋은 나이에 이르러 장사될 것이다.
16 In the fourth generation they will come here again, for the iniquity of the Amorite is not yet full.”And in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorite is not yet full.네 자손이 사 대째에 이리로 다시 돌아올 것이니, 이는 아모리 사람의 죄악이 아직 가득 차지 않았기 때문이다."

18 In that day Yahweh made a covenant with Abram, saying, “ I have given this land to your offspring, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates:In that day Jehovah made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:그날에 여호와께서 아브람과 언약을 세워 말씀하셨다. "내가 이집트 강에서부터 큰 강 곧 유프라테스 강까지 이 땅을 네 자손에게 주었다.
19 the land of the Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites,the Kenite, and the Kenizzite, and the Kadmonite,곧 겐 사람과 그니스 사람과 갓몬 사람과
20 the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim,and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Rephaim,헷 사람과 브리스 사람과 르바 사람과
21 the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.”and the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Girgashite, and the Jebusite.아모리 사람과 가나안 사람과 기르가스 사람과 여부스 사람의 땅이다."
