1 Yahweh appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre, as he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day.And Jehovah appeared unto him by the oaks of Mamre, as he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;여호와께서 마므레의 상수리나무 곁에서 아브라함에게 나타나셨다. 그때 아브라함은 한낮의 더위 속에서 장막 문 앞에 앉아 있었다.
2 He lifted up his eyes and looked, and saw that three men stood near him. When he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself to the earth,and he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood over against him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself to the earth,그가 눈을 들어 바라보니 세 사람이 자기 맞은편에 서 있었다. 아브라함은 그들을 보자 장막 문에서 달려 나가 맞이하며 땅에 엎드려 절하였다.
3 and said, “ My lord, if now I have found favor in your sight, please don’t go away from your servant.and said, My lord, if now I have found favor in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:그리고 이렇게 말하였다. "내 주여, 제가 주께 은혜를 입었다면, 부디 이 종을 그냥 지나치지 마십시오.
4 Now let a little water be fetched, wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree.let now a little water be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree:물을 조금 가져오게 할 터이니 발을 씻으시고 나무 아래에서 쉬십시오.
5 I will get a piece of bread so you can refresh your heart. After that you may go your way, now that you have come to your servant.” They said, “ Very well, do as you have said.”and I will fetch a morsel of bread, and strengthen ye your heart; after that ye shall pass on: forasmuch as ye are come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said.제가 빵을 좀 가져올 터이니 잡수시고 기운을 차리신 뒤에 길을 가십시오. 모처럼 이 종에게 들르셨으니 말입니다." 그러자 그들이 말하였다. "좋다, 네가 말한 대로 하여라."
6 Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah, and said, “ Quickly prepare three seahs of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes.”And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes.아브라함이 서둘러 장막 안 사라에게로 가서 말하였다. "어서 고운 밀가루 세 스아를 가져다가 반죽하여 빵을 구우시오."
7 Abraham ran to the herd, and fetched a tender and good calf, and gave it to the servant. He hurried to dress it.And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetched a calf tender and good, and gave it unto the servant; and he hasted to dress it.그리고 아브라함은 가축 떼에게로 달려가 부드럽고 좋은 송아지 한 마리를 끌어다가 종에게 주었다. 종은 서둘러 그것을 요리하였다.
8 He took butter, milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them. He stood by them under the tree, and they ate.And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat.아브라함은 버터와 우유와 요리한 송아지 고기를 가져다가 그들 앞에 차려 놓았다. 그리고 그들이 먹는 동안 나무 아래에서 그들 곁에 서 있었다.
9 They asked him, “ Where is Sarah, your wife?” He said, “ There, in the tent.”And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent.그들이 아브라함에게 물었다. "네 아내 사라는 어디에 있느냐?" 그가 대답하였다. "보십시오, 장막 안에 있습니다."
10 He said, “ I will certainly return to you at about this time next year; and behold, Sarah your wife will have a son.” Sarah heard in the tent door, which was behind him.And he said, I will certainly return unto thee when the season cometh round; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard in the tent door, which was behind him.그분이 말씀하셨다. "내년 이맘때 내가 반드시 너에게 다시 돌아오겠다. 그때 네 아내 사라에게 아들이 있을 것이다." 사라는 그분 뒤편에 있는 장막 문 안에서 이 말을 듣고 있었다.
11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age. Sarah had passed the age of childbearing.Now Abraham and Sarah were old, and well stricken in age; it had ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.아브라함과 사라는 이미 나이가 많아 늙었고, 사라는 아이를 낳을 시기가 이미 지나 있었다.
12 Sarah laughed within herself, saying, “ After I have grown old will I have pleasure, my lord being old also?”And Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?사라가 속으로 웃으며 말하였다. "내가 이렇게 늙었고 내 주인도 늙었는데, 이제 와서 내게 그런 즐거움이 있겠는가?"
13 Yahweh said to Abraham, “ Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘ Will I really bear a child when I am old?’And Jehovah said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, who am old?여호와께서 아브라함에게 말씀하셨다. "어찌하여 사라가 웃으며 '내가 정말 늙었는데 아이를 낳겠는가?' 하느냐?
14 Is anything too hard for Yahweh? At the set time I will return to you, when the season comes around, and Sarah will have a son.”Is anything too hard for Jehovah? At the set time I will return unto thee, when the season cometh round, and Sarah shall have a son.여호와에게 어려워서 못할 일이 있겠느냐? 정한 때에, 곧 내년 이맘때 내가 너에게 다시 돌아오겠다. 그때 사라에게 아들이 있을 것이다."
15 Then Sarah denied it, saying, “ I didn’t laugh,” for she was afraid. He said, “ No, but you did laugh.”Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but thou didst laugh.그러자 사라가 두려워하며 "저는 웃지 않았습니다" 하고 부인하였다. 그분이 말씀하셨다. "아니다, 너는 분명히 웃었다."
16 The men rose up from there, and looked toward Sodom. Abraham went with them to see them on their way.And the men rose up from thence, and looked toward Sodom: and Abraham went with them to bring them on the way.그 사람들이 그곳에서 일어나 소돔 쪽을 바라보았고, 아브라함도 그들을 배웅하려고 함께 걸어갔다.
17 Yahweh said, “ Will I hide from Abraham what I do,And Jehovah said, Shall I hide from Abraham that which I do;여호와께서 말씀하셨다. "내가 하려는 일을 아브라함에게 숨기겠느냐?
18 since Abraham will surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed in him?seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?아브라함은 반드시 크고 강한 민족이 될 것이고, 땅의 모든 민족이 그로 말미암아 복을 받을 것이다.
19 For I have known him, to the end that he may command his children and his household after him, that they may keep the way of Yahweh, to do righteousness and justice; to the end that Yahweh may bring on Abraham that which he has spoken of him.”For I have known him, to the end that he may command his children and his household after him, that they may keep the way of Jehovah, to do righteousness and justice; to the end that Jehovah may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.내가 그를 택하여 알았으니, 이는 그가 자기 자녀들과 후손에게 명하여 여호와의 길을 지키게 하고 의와 공의를 행하게 하기 위함이다. 그리하여 여호와가 아브라함에게 약속한 것을 그에게 이루려는 것이다."
20 Yahweh said, “ Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous,And Jehovah said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;여호와께서 말씀하셨다. "소돔과 고모라의 부르짖음이 크고, 그들의 죄가 너무도 무겁구나.
21 I will go down now, and see whether their deeds are as bad as the reports which have come to me. If not, I will know.”I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.내가 이제 내려가서, 나에게 들려온 그 부르짖음대로 그들이 정말 그렇게 행하였는지 보겠다. 그렇지 않다면 내가 알아보겠다."
22 The men turned from there, and went toward Sodom, but Abraham stood yet before Yahweh.And the men turned from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before Jehovah.그 사람들은 그곳에서 발길을 돌려 소돔 쪽으로 갔으나, 아브라함은 여전히 여호와 앞에 서 있었다.
23 Abraham came near, and said, “ Will you consume the righteous with the wicked?And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou consume the righteous with the wicked?아브라함이 가까이 나아가 말하였다. "주께서 의로운 사람을 악한 사람과 함께 멸하시려 합니까?
24 What if there are fifty righteous within the city? Will you consume and not spare the place for the fifty righteous who are in it?Peradventure there are fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou consume and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein?만일 그 성 안에 의로운 사람이 쉰 명 있다면 어찌하시겠습니까? 그 안에 있는 쉰 명의 의로운 사람을 보아서라도 그곳을 멸하지 않고 용서하지 않으시겠습니까?
25 May it be far from you to do things like that, to kill the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be like the wicked. May that be far from you. Shouldn’t the Judge of all the earth do right?”That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked, that so the righteous should be as the wicked; that be far from thee: shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?의로운 사람을 악한 사람과 함께 죽이셔서 의인이 악인과 같은 처지가 되게 하시는 일은, 결코 주께서 하실 일이 아닙니다. 그런 일은 결코 있을 수 없습니다. 온 땅을 심판하시는 분께서 어찌 공의롭게 행하지 않으시겠습니까?"
26 Yahweh said, “If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare the whole place for their sake.”And Jehovah said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sake.여호와께서 말씀하셨다. "내가 소돔 성 안에서 의로운 사람 쉰 명을 찾으면, 그들을 보아서 그곳 전체를 용서하겠다."
27 Abraham answered, “ See now, I have taken it on myself to speak to the Lord, although I am dust and ashes.And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, who am but dust and ashes:아브라함이 대답하였다. "보십시오, 저는 티끌과 재에 불과한데도 감히 주께 아룁니다.
28 What if there will lack five of the fifty righteous? Will you destroy all the city for lack of five?” He said, “ I will not destroy it if I find forty-five there.”peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, I will not destroy it, if I find there forty and five.만일 의로운 쉰 명에서 다섯 명이 모자란다면 어찌하시겠습니까? 다섯 명이 모자란다고 성 전체를 멸하시겠습니까?" 그분이 말씀하셨다. "거기서 마흔다섯 명을 찾으면 멸하지 않겠다."
29 He spoke to him yet again, and said, “ What if there are forty found there?” He said, “ I will not do it for the forty’s sake.”And he spake unto him yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for the forty’s sake.아브라함이 다시 그분께 아뢰었다. "거기서 마흔 명만 찾으면 어찌하시겠습니까?" 그분이 말씀하셨다. "그 마흔 명을 보아서 그렇게 하지 않겠다."
30 He said, “ Oh don’t let the Lord be angry, and I will speak. What if there are thirty found there?” He said, “ I will not do it if I find thirty there.”And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak: peradventure there shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will not do it, if I find thirty there.아브라함이 말하였다. "주여, 노하지 마시고 제가 아뢰게 해 주십시오. 거기서 서른 명만 찾으면 어찌하시겠습니까?" 그분이 말씀하셨다. "거기서 서른 명을 찾으면 그렇게 하지 않겠다."
31 He said, “ See now, I have taken it on myself to speak to the Lord. What if there are twenty found there?” He said, “ I will not destroy it for the twenty’s sake.”And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord: peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for the twenty’s sake.아브라함이 말하였다. "보십시오, 제가 감히 주께 아룁니다. 거기서 스무 명만 찾으면 어찌하시겠습니까?" 그분이 말씀하셨다. "그 스무 명을 보아서 멸하지 않겠다."
32 He said, “ Oh don’t let the Lord be angry, and I will speak just once more. What if ten are found there?” He said, “ I will not destroy it for the ten’s sake.”And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for the ten’s sake.아브라함이 말하였다. "주여, 노하지 마십시오. 이번 한 번만 더 아뢰겠습니다. 거기서 열 명만 찾으면 어찌하시겠습니까?" 그분이 말씀하셨다. "그 열 명을 보아서 멸하지 않겠다."
33 Yahweh went his way as soon as he had finished communing with Abraham, and Abraham returned to his place.And Jehovah went his way, as soon as he had left off communing with Abraham: and Abraham returned unto his place.여호와께서는 아브라함과 말씀을 마치시고 곧 길을 떠나가셨고, 아브라함도 자기 처소로 돌아갔다.
