1 Jacob called to his sons, and said: “Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which will happen to you in the days to come.And Jacob called unto his sons, and said: Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the latter days.야곱이 자기 아들들을 불러 말하였다. "다들 모여라. 앞으로 너희에게 일어날 일을 내가 일러 주겠다.
2 Assemble yourselves, and hear, you sons of Jacob. Listen to Israel, your father.Assemble yourselves, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; And hearken unto Israel your father.야곱의 아들들아, 함께 모여 들어라. 너희 아버지 이스라엘의 말에 귀를 기울여라.
3 “ Reuben, you are my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, excelling in dignity, and excelling in power.Reuben, thou art my first-born, my might, and the beginning of my strength; The pre-eminence of dignity, and the pre-eminence of power.르우벤아, 너는 내 맏아들이요, 나의 힘이며, 내 기력의 첫 열매다. 위엄이 뛰어나고 능력도 뛰어나구나.
4 Boiling over like water, you shall not excel, because you went up to your father’s bed, then defiled it. He went up to my couch.Boiling over as water, thou shalt not have the pre-eminence; Because thou wentest up to thy father’s bed; Then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.그러나 물처럼 끓어 넘쳤으니 너는 으뜸이 되지 못할 것이다. 네가 네 아버지의 잠자리에 올라가 그것을 더럽혔기 때문이다. 그가 내 침상에 올라갔구나.
5 “ Simeon and Levi are brothers. Their swords are weapons of violence.Simeon and Levi are brethren; Weapons of violence are their swords.시므온과 레위는 형제로구나. 그들의 칼은 폭력의 무기다.
6 My soul, don’t come into their council. My glory, don’t be united to their assembly; for in their anger they killed men. In their self-will they hamstrung cattle.O my soul, come not thou into their council; Unto their assembly, my glory, be not thou united; For in their anger they slew a man, And in their self-will they hocked an ox.내 영혼아, 그들의 모의에 끼어들지 마라. 내 영광아, 그들의 모임과 하나가 되지 마라. 그들이 화가 나서 사람들을 죽였고, 제멋대로 소의 발 힘줄을 끊었기 때문이다.
7 Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel. I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; And their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, And scatter them in Israel.그들의 분노는 저주를 받으리니 그것이 사나웠기 때문이요, 그들의 진노도 저주를 받으리니 그것이 잔인하였기 때문이다. 내가 그들을 야곱 가운데 나누고 이스라엘 가운데 흩어 버리겠다.
8 “ Judah, your brothers will praise you. Your hand will be on the neck of your enemies. Your father’s sons will bow down before you.Judah, thee shall thy brethren praise: Thy hand shall be on the neck of thine enemies; Thy father’s sons shall bow down before thee.유다야, 네 형제들이 너를 찬양할 것이다. 네 손이 네 원수들의 목을 누르고, 네 아버지의 아들들이 네 앞에 엎드려 절할 것이다.
9 Judah is a lion’s cub. From the prey, my son, you have gone up. He stooped down, he crouched as a lion, as a lioness. Who will rouse him up?Judah is a lion’s whelp; From the prey, my son, thou art gone up: He stooped down, he couched as a lion, And as a lioness; who shall rouse him up?유다는 사자의 새끼다. 내 아들아, 너는 사냥한 먹이를 차지하고 올라갔다. 그가 웅크리고 엎드렸으니 수사자 같고 암사자 같구나. 누가 감히 그를 일으켜 깨우겠느냐?
10 The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs. The obedience of the peoples will be to him.The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, Nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, Until Shiloh come; And unto him shall the obedience of the peoples be.규가 유다를 떠나지 않을 것이요, 통치자의 지팡이가 그 발 사이에서 떠나지 않을 것이니, 마침내 그것이 속한 그분이 오시기까지다. 뭇 백성이 그분께 순종하게 될 것이다.
11 Binding his foal to the vine, his donkey’s colt to the choice vine, he has washed his garments in wine, his robes in the blood of grapes.Binding his foal unto the vine, And his ass’s colt unto the choice vine; He hath washed his garments in wine, And his vesture in the blood of grapes:그는 자기 나귀를 포도나무에 매고, 자기 나귀 새끼를 좋은 포도나무에 매며, 자기 옷을 포도주에 빨고, 자기 겉옷을 포도즙에 빤다.
12 His eyes will be red with wine, his teeth white with milk.His eyes shall be red with wine, And his teeth white with milk.그의 눈은 포도주로 붉을 것이요, 그의 이는 우유로 희게 될 것이다.
13 “ Zebulun will dwell at the haven of the sea. He will be for a haven of ships. His border will be on Sidon.Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea; And he shall be for a haven of ships; And his border shall be upon Sidon.스불론은 바닷가에 거하며, 배들이 정박하는 항구가 될 것이다. 그 경계는 시돈에 이를 것이다.
14 “ Issachar is a strong donkey, lying down between the saddlebags.Issachar is a strong ass, Couching down between the sheepfolds:잇사갈은 힘센 나귀라, 양 우리 사이에 엎드려 있구나.
15 He saw a resting place, that it was good, the land, that it was pleasant. He bows his shoulder to the burden, and becomes a servant doing forced labor.And he saw a resting-place that it was good, And the land that it was pleasant; And he bowed his shoulder to bear, And became a servant under taskwork.그가 쉴 곳이 좋은 것을 보고 그 땅이 아름다운 것을 보더니, 어깨를 숙여 짐을 지고 종이 되어 강제 노역을 하는구나.
16 “ Dan will judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.Dan shall judge his people, As one of the tribes of Israel.단은 이스라엘의 한 지파로서 자기 백성을 다스릴 것이다.
17 Dan will be a serpent on the trail, an adder in the path, that bites the horse’s heels, so that his rider falls backward.Dan shall be a serpent in the way, An adder in the path, That biteth the horse’s heels, So that his rider falleth backward.단은 길가의 뱀이요, 오솔길의 독사가 되어, 말의 뒷발꿈치를 물어 그 탄 자가 뒤로 떨어지게 할 것이다.
18 I have waited for your salvation, Yahweh.I have waited for thy salvation, O Jehovah.여호와여, 나는 주의 구원을 기다렸습니다.
19 “ A troop will press on Gad, but he will press on their heel.Gad, a troop shall press upon him; But he shall press upon their heel.갓은 군대의 습격을 받겠으나, 그가 도리어 그들의 뒤꿈치를 칠 것이다.
20 “Asher’s food will be rich. He will produce royal dainties.Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, And he shall yield royal dainties.아셀의 양식은 기름질 것이니, 그가 임금에게나 어울릴 진미를 내놓을 것이다.
21 “ Naphtali is a doe set free, who bears beautiful fawns.Naphtali is a hind let loose: He giveth goodly words.납달리는 놓여난 암사슴이라, 아름다운 새끼들을 낳는구나.
22 “ Joseph is a fruitful vine, a fruitful vine by a spring. His branches run over the wall.Joseph is a fruitful bough, A fruitful bough by a fountain; His branches run over the wall.요셉은 열매 맺는 가지요, 샘 곁에 열매 맺는 가지다. 그 가지들이 담을 넘는구나.
23 The archers have severely grieved him, shot at him, and persecuted him:The archers have sorely grieved him, And shot at him, and persecuted him:활 쏘는 자들이 그를 모질게 괴롭히고, 그에게 활을 쏘며 핍박하였으나,
24 But his bow remained strong. The arms of his hands were made strong, by the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, ( from there is the shepherd, the stone of Israel ),But his bow abode in strength, And the arms of his hands were made strong, By the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob ( From thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel ),그의 활은 도리어 굳세게 머물렀고, 그의 두 팔은 강하게 되었으니, 이는 야곱의 전능자의 손이 하신 일이다. (거기서부터 목자, 곧 이스라엘의 반석이 나온다.)
25 even by the God of your father, who will help you, by the Almighty, who will bless you, with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lies below, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb.Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee, And by the Almighty, who shall bless thee, With blessings of heaven above, Blessings of the deep that coucheth beneath, Blessings of the breasts, and of the womb.곧 너를 도우실 네 아버지의 하나님으로 말미암고, 너에게 복을 주실 전능자로 말미암으리니, 위로 하늘의 복과 아래로 깊은 곳에 깃든 복과 젖가슴과 태의 복이 함께하리라.
26 The blessings of your father have prevailed above the blessings of my ancestors, above the boundaries of the ancient hills. They will be on the head of Joseph, on the crown of the head of him who is separated from his brothers.The blessings of thy father Have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors Unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: They shall be on the head of Joseph, And on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.네 아버지의 복은 옛 조상들의 복보다 뛰어나고, 영원한 산들의 경계까지 미치는구나. 이 복이 요셉의 머리 위에, 곧 자기 형제들 가운데서 구별된 자의 정수리 위에 임할 것이다.
27 “ Benjamin is a ravenous wolf. In the morning he will devour the prey. At evening he will divide the plunder.”Benjamin is a wolf that raveneth: In the morning he shall devour the prey, And at even he shall divide the spoil.베냐민은 게걸스러운 이리라, 아침에는 먹이를 삼키고 저녁에는 노략한 것을 나누는구나."
28 All these are the twelve tribes of Israel, and this is what their father spoke to them, and blessed them. He blessed everyone according to his own blessing.All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto them and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.이들이 모두 이스라엘의 열두 지파다. 이것이 그들의 아버지가 그들에게 말하며 복을 빌어 준 것이니, 그가 각 사람에게 그에게 합당한 복으로 복을 빌어 주었다.
29 He instructed them, and said to them, “ I am to be gathered to my people. Bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,And he charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,야곱이 그들에게 명하여 말하였다. "나는 이제 내 조상들에게로 돌아가게 되었다. 너희는 헷 사람 에브론의 밭에 있는 굴에 나를 내 조상들과 함께 장사하여라.
30 in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field from Ephron the Hittite as a burial place.in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field from Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a burying-place.그것은 가나안 땅 마므레 앞 막벨라 밭에 있는 굴인데, 아브라함이 헷 사람 에브론에게서 그 밭과 함께 매장지로 사들인 곳이다.
31 There they buried Abraham and Sarah, his wife. There they buried Isaac and Rebekah, his wife, and there I buried Leah:There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah —거기에 아브라함과 그의 아내 사라를 장사하였고, 거기에 이삭과 그의 아내 리브가를 장사하였으며, 나도 거기에 레아를 장사하였다.
32 the field and the cave that is therein, which was purchased from the children of Heth.”the field and the cave that is therein, which was purchased from the children of Heth.그 밭과 그 안에 있는 굴은 헷 사람들에게서 사들인 것이다."
33 When Jacob finished charging his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, breathed his last breath, and was gathered to his people.And when Jacob made an end of charging his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people.야곱이 자기 아들들에게 명하기를 마치고 두 발을 침상 위로 거두어들이더니, 숨을 거두고 자기 조상들에게로 돌아갔다.
