1 Sarah lived one hundred twenty-seven years. This was the length of Sarah’s life.And the life of Sarah was a hundred and seven and twenty years: these were the years of the life of Sarah.사라는 백이십칠 년을 살았으니, 이것이 사라가 누린 생애의 햇수였다.
2 Sarah died in Kiriath Arba ( also called Hebron ), in the land of Canaan. Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.And Sarah died in Kiriath-arba ( the same is Hebron ), in the land of Canaan: and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.사라가 가나안 땅 기럇아르바 곧 헤브론에서 죽으니, 아브라함이 들어가 사라를 위하여 애통하며 슬피 울었다.
3 Abraham rose up from before his dead and spoke to the children of Heth, saying,And Abraham rose up from before his dead, and spake unto the children of Heth, saying,그 후 아브라함은 자기 죽은 아내 곁에서 일어나 헷 사람들에게 말하였다.
4 “ I am a stranger and a foreigner living with you. Give me a possession of a burying-place with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.”I am a stranger and a sojourner with you: give me a possession of a burying-place with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight."나는 여러분 가운데 머무는 나그네요 이방 사람입니다. 여러분 가운데서 내가 묘지로 쓸 땅을 얻게 해 주십시오. 그래서 내 죽은 아내를 내 눈앞에서 옮겨 장사하게 해 주십시오."
5 The children of Heth answered Abraham, saying to him,And the children of Heth answered Abraham, saying unto him,헷 사람들이 아브라함에게 대답하여 말하였다.
6 “ Hear us, my lord. You are a prince of God among us. Bury your dead in the best of our tombs. None of us will withhold from you his tomb. Bury your dead.”Hear us, my lord; thou art a prince of God among us: in the choice of our sepulchres bury thy dead; none of us shall withhold from thee his sepulchre, but that thou mayest bury thy dead."내 주여, 우리 말을 들으십시오. 당신은 우리 가운데 계신 하나님의 지도자이십니다. 우리의 가장 좋은 무덤에 당신의 죽은 아내를 장사하십시오. 우리 가운데 누구도 당신이 죽은 아내를 장사하는 일에 자기 무덤을 아끼지 않을 것입니다."
7 Abraham rose up, and bowed himself to the people of the land, to the children of Heth.And Abraham rose up, and bowed himself to the people of the land, even to the children of Heth.아브라함이 일어나 그 땅 백성 곧 헷 사람들에게 몸을 굽혀 절하고
8 He talked with them, saying, “ If you agree that I should bury my dead out of my sight, hear me, and entreat for me to Ephron the son of Zohar,And he communed with them, saying, If it be your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight, hear me, and entreat for me to Ephron the son of Zohar,그들과 이야기하며 말하였다. "여러분이 내가 죽은 아내를 내 눈앞에서 옮겨 장사하는 것을 허락하신다면, 내 말을 들으시고 나를 위하여 소할의 아들 에브론에게 간청해 주십시오.
9 that he may sell me the cave of Machpelah, which he has, which is in the end of his field. For the full price let him sell it to me among you as a possession for a burial place.”that he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he hath, which is in the end of his field; for the full price let him give it to me in the midst of you for a possession of a burying-place.그가 가진 막벨라 굴 곧 그의 밭 끝에 있는 굴을 내게 주게 해 주십시오. 그가 여러분 가운데서 제값을 다 받고 그것을 내게 묘지로 넘겨주게 해 주십시오."
10 Now Ephron was sitting in the middle of the children of Heth. Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the hearing of the children of Heth, even of all who went in at the gate of his city, saying,Now Ephron was sitting in the midst of the children of Heth: and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of the children of Heth, even of all that went in at the gate of his city, saying,그때 에브론은 헷 사람들 가운데 앉아 있었다. 헷 사람 에브론이 그 성문으로 들어온 모든 사람과 헷 사람들이 듣는 데서 아브라함에게 대답하여 말하였다.
11 “ No, my lord, hear me. I give you the field, and I give you the cave that is in it. In the presence of the children of my people I give it to you. Bury your dead.”Nay, my lord, hear me: the field give I thee, and the cave that is therein, I give it thee; in the presence of the children of my people give I it thee: bury thy dead."아닙니다, 내 주여, 내 말을 들으십시오. 내가 그 밭을 당신에게 드리고, 그 안에 있는 굴도 당신에게 드립니다. 내 백성의 자손들이 보는 앞에서 그것을 당신에게 드리니, 당신의 죽은 아내를 장사하십시오."
12 Abraham bowed himself down before the people of the land.And Abraham bowed himself down before the people of the land.아브라함이 그 땅 백성 앞에서 몸을 굽혀 절하고
13 He spoke to Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying, “ But if you will, please hear me. I will give the price of the field. Take it from me, and I will bury my dead there.”And he spake unto Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying, But if thou wilt, I pray thee, hear me: I will give the price of the field; take it of me, and I will bury my dead there.그 땅 백성이 듣는 데서 에브론에게 말하였다. "그래도 들어주신다면, 부디 내 말을 들어 주십시오. 내가 그 밭값을 드리겠으니, 나에게서 받으십시오. 그러면 내가 거기에 내 죽은 아내를 장사하겠습니다."
14 Ephron answered Abraham, saying to him,And Ephron answered Abraham, saying unto him,에브론이 아브라함에게 대답하여 말하였다.
15 “ My lord, listen to me. What is a piece of land worth four hundred shekels of silver between me and you? Therefore bury your dead.”My lord, hearken unto me: a piece of land worth four hundred shekels of silver, what is that betwixt me and thee? bury therefore thy dead."내 주여, 내 말을 들으십시오. 은 사백 세겔 값의 땅이 나와 당신 사이에 무슨 문제가 되겠습니까? 그러니 당신의 죽은 아내를 장사하십시오."
16 Abraham listened to Ephron. Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver which he had named in the hearing of the children of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, according to the current merchants’ standard.And Abraham hearkened unto Ephron; and Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver which he had named in the audience of the children of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current money with the merchant.아브라함이 에브론의 말을 듣고, 그가 헷 사람들이 듣는 데서 말한 대로 은을 달아 주었으니, 곧 상인들이 통용하는 표준에 따라 은 사백 세겔이었다.
17 So the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, the cave which was in it, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all of its borders, were deededSo the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, and the cave which was therein, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all the border thereof round about, were made sure그리하여 마므레 앞 막벨라에 있는 에브론의 밭, 곧 그 밭과 그 안에 있는 굴과 그 밭 경계 안에 있는 모든 나무가
18 to Abraham for a possession in the presence of the children of Heth, before all who went in at the gate of his city.unto Abraham for a possession in the presence of the children of Heth, before all that went in at the gate of his city.헷 사람들과 그 성문으로 들어온 모든 사람이 보는 앞에서 아브라함의 소유로 확정되었다.
19 After this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre ( that is, Hebron ), in the land of Canaan.And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre ( the same is Hebron ), in the land of Canaan.그 후에 아브라함은 자기 아내 사라를 가나안 땅 마므레 앞 막벨라 밭의 굴에 장사하였으니, 그곳은 곧 헤브론이다.
20 The field, and the cave that is in it, were deeded to Abraham by the children of Heth as a possession for a burial place.And the field, and the cave that is therein, were made sure unto Abraham for a possession of a burying-place by the children of Heth.이와 같이 그 밭과 그 안에 있는 굴이 헷 사람들에 의하여 아브라함의 묘지로 확정되었다.
