1 Dinah, the daughter of Leah, whom she bore to Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land.And Dinah the daughter of Leah, whom she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land.레아가 야곱에게 낳은 딸 디나가 그 땅의 여자들을 보려고 나갔다.
2 Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, the prince of the land, saw her. He took her, lay with her, and humbled her.And Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, the prince of the land, saw her; and he took her, and lay with her, and humbled her.그 땅의 추장인 히위 사람 하몰의 아들 세겜이 그녀를 보고, 그녀를 데려다가 함께 누워 욕보였다.
3 His soul joined to Dinah, the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the young lady, and spoke kindly to the young lady.And his soul clave unto Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the damsel, and spake kindly unto the damsel.그러나 그의 마음이 야곱의 딸 디나에게 깊이 끌렸고, 그는 그 처녀를 사랑하여 그녀에게 다정하게 말하였다.
4 Shechem spoke to his father, Hamor, saying, “ Get me this young lady as a wife.”And Shechem spake unto his father Hamor, saying, Get me this damsel to wife.세겜이 자기 아버지 하몰에게 말하였다. "저 처녀를 제 아내로 얻어 주십시오."
5 Now Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah, his daughter; and his sons were with his livestock in the field. Jacob held his peace until they came.Now Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter; and his sons were with his cattle in the field: and Jacob held his peace until they came.야곱은 세겜이 자기 딸 디나를 더럽혔다는 소식을 들었으나, 그의 아들들이 들에서 가축과 함께 있었으므로 그들이 돌아올 때까지 잠잠히 있었다.
6 Hamor the father of Shechem went out to Jacob to talk with him.And Hamor the father of Shechem went out unto Jacob to commune with him.세겜의 아버지 하몰이 야곱과 의논하려고 그에게 나아왔다.
7 The sons of Jacob came in from the field when they heard it. The men were grieved, and they were very angry, because he had done folly in Israel in lying with Jacob’s daughter, a thing that ought not to be done.And the sons of Jacob came in from the field when they heard it: and the men were grieved, and they were very wroth, because he had wrought folly in Israel in lying with Jacob’s daughter; which thing ought not to be done.야곱의 아들들이 그 일을 듣고 들에서 돌아왔는데, 세겜이 야곱의 딸과 동침하여 이스라엘 가운데서 어리석은 짓, 곧 해서는 안 될 일을 저질렀으므로 그 사람들은 마음이 상하고 몹시 분노하였다.
8 Hamor talked with them, saying, “ The soul of my son, Shechem, longs for your daughter. Please give her to him as a wife.And Hamor communed with them, saying, The soul of my son Shechem longeth for your daughter: I pray you, give her unto him to wife.하몰이 그들에게 말하였다. "내 아들 세겜의 마음이 당신들의 딸을 간절히 사모하니, 부디 그녀를 그의 아내로 주십시오.
9 Make marriages with us. Give your daughters to us, and take our daughters for yourselves.And make ye marriages with us; give your daughters unto us, and take our daughters unto you.우리와 더불어 서로 혼인하여, 당신들의 딸들을 우리에게 주고 우리의 딸들을 당신들이 데려가십시오.
10 You shall dwell with us, and the land will be before you. Live and trade in it, and get possessions in it.”And ye shall dwell with us: and the land shall be before you; dwell and trade ye therein, and get you possessions therein.당신들이 우리와 함께 살면, 이 땅이 당신들 앞에 있을 것이니 여기서 살며 장사하고 재산을 얻으십시오."
11 Shechem said to her father and to her brothers, “ Let me find favor in your eyes, and whatever you will tell me I will give.And Shechem said unto her father and unto her brethren, Let me find favor in your eyes, and what ye shall say unto me I will give.세겜도 디나의 아버지와 그 오라버니들에게 말하였다. "내가 당신들의 눈에 들게 해 주십시오. 무엇이든 당신들이 말하는 것을 내가 드리겠습니다.
12 Ask me a great amount for a dowry, and I will give whatever you ask of me, but give me the young lady as a wife.”Ask me never so much dowry and gift, and I will give according as ye shall say unto me: but give me the damsel to wife.아무리 많은 결혼 지참금과 예물을 내게 청하셔도 당신들이 말하는 대로 다 드릴 터이니, 그 처녀만은 내게 아내로 주십시오."
13 The sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father with deceit when they spoke, because he had defiled Dinah their sister,And the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father with guile, and spake, because he had defiled Dinah their sister,야곱의 아들들은 세겜이 자기 누이 디나를 더럽혔으므로, 세겜과 그 아버지 하몰에게 속임수로 대답하여 말하였다.
14 and said to them, “ We can’t do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised; for that is a reproach to us.and said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that were a reproach unto us.그들이 그들에게 말하였다. "할례받지 않은 사람에게 우리 누이를 주는 이 일은 우리가 할 수 없으니, 그것은 우리에게 수치가 되는 일입니다.
15 Only on this condition will we consent to you. If you will be as we are, that every male of you be circumcised,Only on this condition will we consent unto you: if ye will be as we are, that every male of you be circumcised;다만 이 조건이면 우리가 당신들의 청을 들어 주겠습니다. 만일 당신들이 우리처럼 되어 당신들 가운데 모든 남자가 할례를 받는다면,
16 then will we give our daughters to you; and we will take your daughters to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people.then will we give our daughters unto you, and we will take your daughters to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people.그러면 우리가 우리 딸들을 당신들에게 주고 당신들의 딸들을 우리가 데려오며, 당신들과 함께 살아 한 백성이 되겠습니다.
17 But if you will not listen to us and be circumcised, then we will take our sister, and we will be gone.”But if ye will not hearken unto us, to be circumcised; then will we take our daughter, and we will be gone.그러나 만일 당신들이 우리 말을 듣지 않고 할례를 받지 않는다면, 우리는 우리 누이를 데리고 떠나겠습니다."
18 Their words pleased Hamor and Shechem, Hamor’s son.And their words pleased Hamor, and Shechem Hamor’s son.그들의 말이 하몰과 하몰의 아들 세겜의 마음에 들었다.
19 The young man didn’t wait to do this thing, because he had delight in Jacob’s daughter, and he was honored above all the house of his father.And the young man deferred not to do the thing, because he had delight in Jacob’s daughter: and he was honored above all the house of his father.그 젊은이는 야곱의 딸을 기뻐하였으므로 이 일을 행하기를 지체하지 않았으니, 그는 자기 아버지 집에서 가장 존귀한 사람이었다.
20 Hamor and Shechem, his son, came to the gate of their city, and talked with the men of their city, saying,And Hamor and Shechem his son came unto the gate of their city, and communed with the men of their city, saying,하몰과 그의 아들 세겜이 성문에 이르러 그 성읍 사람들에게 말하였다.
21 “ These men are peaceful with us. Therefore let them live in the land and trade in it. For behold, the land is large enough for them. Let’s take their daughters to us for wives, and let’s give them our daughters.These men are peaceable with us; therefore let them dwell in the land, and trade therein; for, behold, the land is large enough for them; let us take their daughters to us for wives, and let us give them our daughters."이 사람들은 우리와 화목하니, 그들이 이 땅에서 살며 장사하게 합시다. 보십시오, 이 땅은 그들이 살기에 넉넉합니다. 우리가 그들의 딸들을 데려다 아내로 삼고 우리 딸들을 그들에게 줍시다.
22 Only on this condition will the men consent to us to live with us, to become one people, if every male among us is circumcised, as they are circumcised.Only on this condition will the men consent unto us to dwell with us, to become one people, if every male among us be circumcised, as they are circumcised.다만 이 조건, 곧 그들이 할례받은 것처럼 우리 가운데 모든 남자가 할례를 받아야만 그 사람들이 우리와 함께 살아 한 백성이 되는 것을 받아들이겠다 합니다.
23 Won’t their livestock and their possessions and all their animals be ours? Only let’s give our consent to them, and they will dwell with us.”Shall not their cattle and their substance and all their beasts be ours? only let us consent unto them, and they will dwell with us.그들의 가축과 재산과 모든 짐승이 우리 것이 되지 않겠습니까? 다만 우리가 그들의 청을 들어 주기만 하면 그들이 우리와 함께 살 것입니다."
24 All who went out of the gate of his city listened to Hamor, and to Shechem his son; and every male was circumcised, all who went out of the gate of his city.And unto Hamor and unto Shechem his son hearkened all that went out of the gate of his city; and every male was circumcised, all that went out of the gate of his city.성문으로 드나드는 모든 사람이 하몰과 그의 아들 세겜의 말을 들었고, 성문으로 드나드는 모든 남자가 할례를 받았다.
25 On the third day, when they were sore, two of Jacob’s sons, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers, each took his sword, came upon the unsuspecting city, and killed all the males.And it came to pass on the third day, when they were sore, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brethren, took each man his sword, and came upon the city unawares, and slew all the males.사흘째 되는 날, 그들이 아직 아파하고 있을 때에 야곱의 두 아들, 곧 디나의 오라버니인 시므온과 레위가 각기 칼을 들고 방심하고 있던 성읍을 기습하여 모든 남자를 죽였다.
26 They killed Hamor and Shechem, his son, with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem’s house, and went away.And they slew Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem’s house, and went forth.그들이 하몰과 그의 아들 세겜을 칼날로 죽이고, 디나를 세겜의 집에서 데리고 나왔다.
27 Jacob’s sons came on the dead, and plundered the city, because they had defiled their sister.The sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and plundered the city, because they had defiled their sister.야곱의 아들들이 시체들이 있는 곳에 이르러, 그들이 자기 누이를 더럽혔으므로 그 성읍을 약탈하였다.
28 They took their flocks, their herds, their donkeys, that which was in the city, that which was in the field,They took their flocks and their herds and their asses, and that which was in the city, and that which was in the field;그들이 양 떼와 소 떼와 나귀들과 성읍 안에 있는 것과 들에 있는 것을 빼앗고,
29 and all their wealth. They took captive all their little ones and their wives, and took as plunder everything that was in the house.and all their wealth, and all their little ones and their wives, took they captive and made a prey, even all that was in the house.그들의 모든 재물을 빼앗았으며, 그들의 모든 어린아이와 아내들을 사로잡고 집 안에 있는 모든 것을 노략하였다.
30 Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, “ You have troubled me, to make me odious to the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites. I am few in number. They will gather themselves together against me and strike me, and I will be destroyed, I and my house.”And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, Ye have troubled me, to make me odious to the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites: and, I being few in number, they will gather themselves together against me and smite me; and I shall be destroyed, I and my house.야곱이 시므온과 레위에게 말하였다. "너희가 나를 괴롭게 하여, 이 땅의 주민 곧 가나안 사람과 브리스 사람에게 나를 가증한 자가 되게 하였구나. 나는 수가 적은데, 그들이 함께 모여 나를 치면 나와 내 집이 멸망할 것이다."
31 They said, “ Should he deal with our sister as with a prostitute?”And they said, Should he deal with our sister as with a harlot?그들이 말하였다. "그가 우리 누이를 창녀처럼 대해도 된다는 말입니까?"
