1 Joseph fell on his father’s face, wept on him, and kissed him.And Joseph fell upon his father’s face, and wept upon him, and kissed him.요셉은 자기 아버지의 얼굴에 엎드려 그 위에서 울며 입을 맞추었다.
2 Joseph commanded his servants, the physicians, to embalm his father; and the physicians embalmed Israel.And Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father: and the physicians embalmed Israel.요셉은 자기 종인 의원들에게 명하여 아버지의 몸을 방부 처리하게 하니, 의원들이 이스라엘의 몸을 방부 처리하였다.
3 Forty days were used for him, for that is how many days it takes to embalm. The Egyptians wept for Israel for seventy days.And forty days were fulfilled for him; for so are fulfilled the days of embalming: and the Egyptians wept for him threescore and ten days.그렇게 하는 데 사십 일이 걸렸으니, 방부 처리에는 그만큼의 날이 드는 것이었다. 이집트 사람들은 그를 위하여 칠십 일 동안 슬피 울었다.
4 When the days of weeping for him were past, Joseph spoke to Pharaoh’s staff, saying, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, please speak in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,And when the days of weeping for him were past, Joseph spake unto the house of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have found favor in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,그를 위하여 우는 날들이 지나자, 요셉이 바로의 집안 사람들에게 말하였다. "이제 내가 여러분의 눈에 은혜를 입었거든, 바로께 이렇게 아뢰어 주십시오.
5 ‘ My father made me swear, saying, “ Behold, I am dying. Bury me in my grave which I have dug for myself in the land of Canaan.” Now therefore, please let me go up and bury my father, and I will come again.’”My father made me swear, saying, Lo, I die: in my grave which I have digged for me in the land of Canaan, there shalt thou bury me. Now therefore let me go up, I pray thee, and bury my father, and I will come again.'제 아버지께서 저에게 맹세하게 하시며 이르시기를, 보라 내가 죽거든 내가 가나안 땅에 나를 위하여 파 둔 무덤에 나를 묻으라 하셨습니다. 그러니 이제 제가 올라가 제 아버지를 장사하고 다시 돌아오게 허락해 주십시오.'"
6 Pharaoh said, “ Go up, and bury your father, just like he made you swear.”And Pharaoh said, Go up, and bury thy father, according as he made thee swear.바로가 말하였다. "올라가서, 네 아버지가 네게 맹세하게 한 대로 그를 장사하여라."
7 Joseph went up to bury his father; and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, all the elders of the land of Egypt,And Joseph went up to bury his father; and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt,그리하여 요셉이 자기 아버지를 장사하러 올라가니, 바로의 모든 신하와 그 집안의 장로들과 이집트 땅의 모든 장로가 그와 함께 올라갔다.
8 all the house of Joseph, his brothers, and his father’s house. Only their little ones, their flocks, and their herds, they left in the land of Goshen.and all the house of Joseph, and his brethren, and his father’s house: only their little ones, and their flocks, and their herds, they left in the land of Goshen.요셉의 온 집안과 그의 형제들과 그의 아버지의 집안이 다 올라갔으나, 다만 그들의 어린 자녀와 양 떼와 소 떼만은 고센 땅에 남겨 두었다.
9 Both chariots and horsemen went up with him. It was a very great company.And there went up with him both chariots and horsemen: and it was a very great company.그와 함께 병거와 기마병도 올라가니, 그 행렬이 심히 컸다.
10 They came to the threshing floor of Atad, which is beyond the Jordan, and there they lamented with a very great and severe lamentation. He mourned for his father seven days.And they came to the threshing-floor of Atad, which is beyond the Jordan, and there they lamented with a very great and sore lamentation: and he made a mourning for his father seven days.그들이 요단강 건너편에 있는 아닷 타작마당에 이르러, 거기서 크고 비통한 통곡으로 애곡하니, 요셉이 자기 아버지를 위하여 이레 동안 애도하였다.
11 When the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, “ This is a grievous mourning by the Egyptians.” Therefore its name was called Abel Mizraim, which is beyond the Jordan.And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians: wherefore the name of it was called Abel-mizraim, which is beyond the Jordan.그 땅의 주민인 가나안 사람들이 아닷 타작마당의 애도를 보고 말하기를, "이는 이집트 사람들의 비통한 애도로다" 하였다. 그러므로 그곳 이름을 아벨미스라임이라 불렀으니, 그곳은 요단강 건너편에 있다.
12 His sons did to him just as he commanded them,And his sons did unto him according as he commanded them:야곱의 아들들이 아버지가 명한 그대로 행하여,
13 for his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field, as a possession for a burial site, from Ephron the Hittite, near Mamre.for his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field, for a possession of a burying-place, of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre.그를 가나안 땅으로 옮겨 막벨라 밭의 굴에 장사하였으니, 그 굴은 아브라함이 헷 사람 에브론에게서 밭과 함께 매장지로 삼으려고 사들인 것으로 마므레 앞에 있었다.
14 Joseph returned into Egypt — he, and his brothers, and all that went up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father.And Joseph returned into Egypt, he, and his brethren, and all that went up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father.요셉은 자기 아버지를 장사한 뒤에, 그와 그의 형제들과 그의 아버지를 장사하러 함께 올라갔던 모든 사람과 더불어 이집트로 돌아왔다.
15 When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “ It may be that Joseph will hate us, and will fully pay us back for all the evil which we did to him.”And when Joseph’s brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, It may be that Joseph will hate us, and will fully requite us all the evil which we did unto him.요셉의 형제들은 자기들의 아버지가 죽은 것을 보고 말하였다. "요셉이 혹시 우리를 미워하여, 우리가 그에게 행한 모든 악을 다 갚으려 할지도 모른다."
16 They sent a message to Joseph, saying, “ Your father commanded before he died, saying,And they sent a message unto Joseph, saying, Thy father did command before he died, saying,그래서 그들이 요셉에게 사람을 보내어 전하기를, "당신의 아버지께서 돌아가시기 전에 이렇게 명하셨습니다.
17 ‘ You shall tell Joseph, “ Now please forgive the disobedience of your brothers, and their sin, because they did evil to you.”’ Now, please forgive the disobedience of the servants of the God of your father.” Joseph wept when they spoke to him.So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the transgression of thy brethren, and their sin, for that they did unto thee evil. And now, we pray thee, forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him.'너희는 요셉에게 이렇게 말하여라. 이제 청하노니 네 형들의 잘못과 그들의 죄를 용서하여라. 그들이 네게 악을 행하였느니라.' 그러니 이제 청하건대, 당신 아버지의 하나님의 종들의 잘못을 용서하여 주십시오." 요셉은 그들이 자기에게 이렇게 말할 때에 울었다.
18 His brothers also went and fell down before his face; and they said, “ Behold, we are your servants.”And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we are thy servants.그의 형제들도 직접 가서 그 앞에 엎드려 말하기를, "보소서, 우리는 당신의 종입니다" 하였다.
19 Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for am I in the place of God?And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?요셉이 그들에게 말하였다. "두려워하지 마십시오. 내가 하나님을 대신할 수 있겠습니까?
20 As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to save many people alive, as is happening today.And as for you, ye meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.여러분은 나를 해치려고 악을 꾀하였으나, 하나님께서는 그것을 선으로 바꾸셔서, 오늘과 같이 많은 사람의 생명을 구원하시려고 이루셨습니다.
21 Now therefore don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your little ones.” He comforted them, and spoke kindly to them.Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.그러니 이제 두려워하지 마십시오. 내가 여러분과 여러분의 어린 자녀들을 먹여 살리겠습니다." 이렇게 요셉은 그들을 위로하며 따뜻한 말로 그들의 마음을 어루만졌다.
22 Joseph lived in Egypt, he, and his father’s house. Joseph lived one hundred ten years.And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his father’s house: and Joseph lived a hundred and ten years.요셉은 자기 아버지의 집안과 함께 이집트에 살았으며, 백십 년을 살았다.
23 Joseph saw Ephraim’s children to the third generation. The children also of Machir, the son of Manasseh, were born on Joseph’s knees.And Joseph saw Ephraim’s children of the third generation: the children also of Machir the son of Manasseh were born upon Joseph’s knees.요셉은 에브라임의 자손을 삼 대까지 보았고, 므낫세의 아들 마길의 자녀들도 요셉의 무릎에서 태어났다.
24 Joseph said to his brothers, “ I am dying, but God will surely visit you, and bring you up out of this land to the land which he swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.”And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die; but God will surely visit you, and bring you up out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.요셉이 자기 형제들에게 말하였다. "나는 죽지만, 하나님께서 반드시 여러분을 돌보시고, 이 땅에서 여러분을 인도하여 내시어 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 맹세하신 그 땅으로 데려가실 것입니다."
25 Joseph took an oath from the children of Israel, saying, “God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from here.”And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence.요셉이 이스라엘 자손에게 맹세하게 하며 말하였다. "하나님께서 반드시 여러분을 돌보실 것이니, 그때에 여러분은 내 뼈를 여기서 메고 올라가십시오."
26 So Joseph died, being one hundred ten years old, and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.So Joseph died, being a hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.이렇게 요셉이 백십 세에 죽으니, 그들이 그를 방부 처리하여 이집트에서 관에 넣어 두었다.
