1 The heavens, the earth, and all their vast array were finished.And the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.이렇게 하늘과 땅과 그 안의 모든 것이 다 이루어졌다.

3 God blessed the seventh day, and made it holy, because he rested in it from all his work of creation which he had done.And God blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it; because that in it he rested from all his work which God had created and made.하나님께서 일곱째 날을 복 주시고 거룩하게 하셨으니, 이는 그날에 하나님께서 창조하시며 만드신 모든 일에서 떠나 쉬셨기 때문이다.
4 This is the history of the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that Yahweh God made the earth and the heavens.These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that Jehovah God made earth and heaven.이것은 하늘과 땅이 창조될 때의 내력이니, 곧 여호와 하나님께서 땅과 하늘을 만드시던 날의 일이다.
5 No plant of the field was yet in the earth, and no herb of the field had yet sprung up; for Yahweh God had not caused it to rain on the earth. There was not a man to till the ground,And no plant of the field was yet in the earth, and no herb of the field had yet sprung up; for Jehovah God had not caused it to rain upon the earth: and there was not a man to till the ground;그때까지 들에는 아직 어떤 초목도 나지 않았고 들의 어떤 풀도 돋아나지 않았으니, 이는 여호와 하나님께서 아직 땅에 비를 내리지 않으셨고 땅을 갈 사람도 없었기 때문이다.
6 but a mist went up from the earth, and watered the whole surface of the ground.but there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.다만 안개가 땅에서 올라와 온 땅 표면을 적셨다.
7 Yahweh God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.And Jehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.여호와 하나님께서 땅의 흙으로 사람을 빚으시고 그 코에 생명의 숨을 불어넣으시니, 사람이 생명 있는 존재가 되었다.
8 Yahweh God planted a garden eastward, in Eden, and there he put the man whom he had formed.And Jehovah God planted a garden eastward, in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.여호와 하나님께서 동쪽 에덴에 동산을 만드시고, 자신이 빚으신 사람을 거기에 두셨다.
9 Out of the ground Yahweh God made every tree to grow that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food, including the tree of life in the middle of the garden and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.And out of the ground made Jehovah God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.여호와 하나님께서 땅에서 보기에 아름답고 먹기에 좋은 온갖 나무가 자라게 하셨으며, 동산 한가운데에는 생명나무와 선악을 알게 하는 나무도 있게 하셨다.
10 A river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from there it was parted, and became the source of four rivers.And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became four heads.강 하나가 에덴에서 흘러나와 동산을 적셨고, 거기서 갈라져 네 줄기가 되었다.
11 The name of the first is Pishon: it flows through the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;The name of the first is Pishon: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;첫째 강의 이름은 비손이니, 금이 나는 하윌라 온 땅을 두루 흐르는 강이다.
12 and the gold of that land is good. Bdellium and onyx stone are also there.and the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.그 땅의 금은 질이 좋았고, 그곳에는 향기로운 진과 호마노도 있었다.
13 The name of the second river is Gihon. It is the same river that flows through the whole land of Cush.And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Cush.둘째 강의 이름은 기혼이니, 구스 온 땅을 두루 흐르는 강이다.
14 The name of the third river is Hiddekel. This is the one which flows in front of Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrates.And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth in front of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.셋째 강의 이름은 힛데겔이니, 앗시리아 동편으로 흐르는 강이며, 넷째 강은 유프라테스다.
15 Yahweh God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate and keep it.And Jehovah God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.여호와 하나님께서 그 사람을 데려다가 에덴동산에 두시고, 그곳을 가꾸며 지키게 하셨다.
16 Yahweh God commanded the man, saying, “ You may freely eat of every tree of the garden;And Jehovah God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:여호와 하나님께서 그 사람에게 명하여 말씀하셨다. "동산에 있는 모든 나무의 열매는 네가 마음대로 먹어도 된다.
17 but you shall not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; for in the day that you eat of it, you will surely die.”but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.그러나 선악을 알게 하는 나무의 열매는 먹지 말아라. 그것을 먹는 날에는 너는 반드시 죽을 것이다."
18 Yahweh God said, “ It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make him a helper comparable to him.”And Jehovah God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a help meet for him.여호와 하나님께서 말씀하셨다. "사람이 혼자 있는 것이 좋지 않으니, 내가 그를 위하여 그에게 알맞은 돕는 이를 만들어 주겠다."
19 Out of the ground Yahweh God formed every animal of the field, and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. Whatever the man called every living creature became its name.And out of the ground Jehovah God formed every beast of the field, and every bird of the heavens; and brought them unto the man to see what he would call them: and whatsoever the man called every living creature, that was the name thereof.여호와 하나님께서 땅에서 들의 모든 짐승과 하늘의 모든 새를 빚으시고, 그 사람이 무엇이라 부르는지 보시려고 그것들을 사람에게로 데려오셨다. 사람이 살아 있는 생물을 부르는 그것이 곧 그 이름이 되었다.
20 The man gave names to all livestock, and to the birds of the sky, and to every animal of the field; but for man there was not found a helper comparable to him.And the man gave names to all cattle, and to the birds of the heavens, and to every beast of the field; but for man there was not found a help meet for him.그 사람이 모든 가축과 하늘의 새와 들의 모든 짐승에게 이름을 지어 주었으나, 사람을 위해서는 그에게 알맞은 돕는 이를 찾지 못하였다.
21 Yahweh God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. As the man slept, he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place.And Jehovah God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof:여호와 하나님께서 그 사람에게 깊은 잠이 들게 하시니 그가 잠들었고, 하나님께서 그의 갈비뼈 하나를 취하시고 그 자리를 살로 메우셨다.
22 Yahweh God made a woman from the rib which he had taken from the man, and brought her to the man.and the rib, which Jehovah God had taken from the man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.여호와 하나님께서 사람에게서 취하신 그 갈비뼈로 여자를 만드시고, 그 여자를 사람에게로 데려오셨다.
23 The man said, “ This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh. She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken out of Man.”And the man said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.그 사람이 말하였다. "이제야 내 뼈 중의 뼈요 내 살 중의 살이로다. 이는 남자에게서 취하였으니 여자라 부르리라."
24 Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh.Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.그러므로 남자가 자기 부모를 떠나 자기 아내와 연합하여 둘이 한 몸을 이룰 것이다.
25 The man and his wife were both naked, and they were not ashamed.And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.그때 사람과 그의 아내가 둘 다 벌거벗었으나 부끄러워하지 않았다.
