1 After these things, someone said to Joseph, “ Behold, your father is sick.” He took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.And it came to pass after these things, that one said to Joseph, Behold, thy father is sick: and he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.이 일들이 있은 뒤에 누군가 요셉에게 "보십시오, 당신의 아버지가 병이 들었습니다" 하고 알렸다. 그래서 요셉은 두 아들 므낫세와 에브라임을 데리고 갔다.
2 Someone told Jacob, and said, “ Behold, your son Joseph comes to you,” and Israel strengthened himself, and sat on the bed.And one told Jacob, and said, Behold, thy son Joseph cometh unto thee: and Israel strengthened himself, and sat upon the bed.누군가 야곱에게 "보십시오, 당신의 아들 요셉이 당신에게 옵니다" 하고 전하자, 이스라엘은 힘을 내어 침상 위에 일어나 앉았다.
3 Jacob said to Joseph, “God Almighty appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me,And Jacob said unto Joseph, God Almighty appeared unto me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me,야곱이 요셉에게 말했다. "전능하신 하나님께서 가나안 땅 루스에서 내게 나타나 복을 주시며
4 and said to me, ‘ Behold, I will make you fruitful, and multiply you, and I will make of you a company of peoples, and will give this land to your offspring after you for an everlasting possession.’and said unto me, Behold, I will make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, and I will make of thee a company of peoples, and will give this land to thy seed after thee for an everlasting possession.내게 말씀하셨다. '보아라, 내가 너를 번성하게 하고 너를 불어나게 하여 너를 많은 백성의 무리가 되게 하겠다. 그리고 이 땅을 네 뒤에 올 네 자손에게 영원한 소유로 주겠다.'
5 Now your two sons, who were born to you in the land of Egypt before I came to you into Egypt, are mine; Ephraim and Manasseh, even as Reuben and Simeon, will be mine.And now thy two sons, who were born unto thee in the land of Egypt before I came unto thee into Egypt, are mine; Ephraim and Manasseh, even as Reuben and Simeon, shall be mine.이제 내가 이집트로 너에게 오기 전에 이집트 땅에서 네게 태어난 너의 두 아들은 내 것이다. 에브라임과 므낫세는 르우벤과 시므온처럼 내 아들이 될 것이다.
6 Your offspring, whom you become the father of after them, will be yours. They will be called after the name of their brothers in their inheritance.And thy issue, that thou begettest after them, shall be thine; they shall be called after the name of their brethren in their inheritance.그러나 그들 뒤에 네가 낳은 자녀들은 네 것이 될 것이다. 그들은 자기 형들의 이름으로 불리며 그 유산을 받을 것이다.
7 As for me, when I came from Paddan, Rachel died beside me in the land of Canaan on the way, when there was still some distance to come to Ephrath, and I buried her there on the way to Ephrath ( also called Bethlehem ).”And as for me, when I came from Paddan, Rachel died by me in the land of Canaan in the way, when there was still some distance to come unto Ephrath: and I buried her there in the way to Ephrath ( the same is Beth-lehem ).내가 밧단에서 올 때에, 가나안 땅에서 에브랏에 이르기까지 아직 얼마쯤 길이 남았을 때에 라헬이 내 곁에서 죽었다. 그래서 내가 에브랏으로 가는 길에 그녀를 묻었는데, 그곳이 바로 베들레헴이다."
8 Israel saw Joseph’s sons, and said, “ Who are these?”And Israel beheld Joseph’s sons, and said, Who are these?이스라엘이 요셉의 아들들을 보고 말했다. "이 아이들은 누구냐?"
9 Joseph said to his father, “ They are my sons, whom God has given me here.” He said, “ Please bring them to me, and I will bless them.”And Joseph said unto his father, They are my sons, whom God hath given me here. And he said, Bring them, I pray thee, unto me, and I will bless them.요셉이 자기 아버지에게 말했다. "하나님께서 이곳에서 제게 주신 제 아들들입니다." 그러자 야곱이 말했다. "그들을 내게로 데려오너라. 내가 그들에게 복을 빌어 주겠다."
10 Now the eyes of Israel were dim for age, so that he couldn’t see well. Joseph brought them near to him; and he kissed them, and embraced them.Now the eyes of Israel were dim for age, so that he could not see. And he brought them near unto him; and he kissed them, and embraced them.이스라엘의 눈은 나이가 들어 어두워져 잘 볼 수 없었다. 요셉이 아이들을 그에게 가까이 데려가자, 그가 그들에게 입을 맞추고 끌어안았다.
11 Israel said to Joseph, “ I didn’t think I would see your face, and behold, God has let me see your offspring also.”And Israel said unto Joseph, I had not thought to see thy face: and, lo, God hath let me see thy seed also.이스라엘이 요셉에게 말했다. "나는 네 얼굴을 다시 보리라고 생각하지 못했는데, 보아라, 하나님께서 네 자손까지 보게 하셨구나."
12 Joseph brought them out from between his knees, and he bowed himself with his face to the earth.And Joseph brought them out from between his knees; and he bowed himself with his face to the earth.요셉이 그의 무릎 사이에서 아이들을 데리고 나와 얼굴을 땅에 대고 절을 하였다.
13 Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel’s left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel’s right hand, and brought them near to him.And Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel’s left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel’s right hand, and brought them near unto him.요셉이 두 아이를 데려가는데, 에브라임은 자기 오른손으로 잡아 이스라엘의 왼손 쪽으로, 므낫세는 자기 왼손으로 잡아 이스라엘의 오른손 쪽으로 하여 그에게 가까이 데려갔다.
14 Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it on Ephraim’s head, who was the younger, and his left hand on Manasseh’s head, guiding his hands knowingly, for Manasseh was the firstborn.And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim’s head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh’s head, guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh was the first-born.그러나 이스라엘은 오른손을 뻗어 동생인 에브라임의 머리에 얹고, 왼손은 므낫세의 머리에 얹었다. 므낫세가 맏아들이었으나 그는 손을 일부러 엇갈리게 놓은 것이다.
15 He blessed Joseph, and said, “ The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God who has fed me all my life long to this day,And he blessed Joseph, and said, The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God who hath fed me all my life long unto this day,이스라엘이 요셉에게 복을 빌며 말했다. "내 조상 아브라함과 이삭이 그 앞에서 살아온 하나님, 내가 태어난 날부터 오늘까지 나를 먹여 주신 하나님,
16 the angel who has redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads, and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac. Let them grow into a multitude upon the earth.”the angel who hath redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.모든 악에서 나를 건져 주신 천사께서 이 아이들에게 복을 주시기를 빕니다. 내 이름과 내 조상 아브라함과 이삭의 이름이 이 아이들에게 이어지고, 이들이 이 땅 한가운데서 큰 무리로 번성하기를 빕니다."
17 When Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand on the head of Ephraim, it displeased him. He held up his father’s hand, to remove it from Ephraim’s head to Manasseh’s head.And when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand upon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him: and he held up his father’s hand, to remove it from Ephraim’s head unto Manasseh’s head.요셉은 아버지가 오른손을 에브라임의 머리에 얹은 것을 보고 마음에 들지 않았다. 그래서 아버지의 손을 잡아 에브라임의 머리에서 므낫세의 머리로 옮기려 하였다.
18 Joseph said to his father, “ Not so, my father, for this is the firstborn. Put your right hand on his head.”And Joseph said unto his father, Not so, my father; for this is the first-born; put thy right hand upon his head.요셉이 아버지에게 말했다. "아버지, 그렇게 하지 마십시오. 이 아이가 맏아들이니 오른손을 이 아이의 머리에 얹으십시오."
19 His father refused, and said, “ I know, my son, I know. He also will become a people, and he also will be great. However, his younger brother will be greater than he, and his offspring will become a multitude of nations.”And his father refused, and said, I know it, my son, I know it; he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: howbeit his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.그러나 그의 아버지는 거절하며 말했다. "내 아들아, 나도 안다, 나도 안다. 이 아이도 한 백성이 되어 크게 될 것이다. 그러나 그 동생이 그보다 더 크게 될 것이며, 그의 자손은 여러 민족의 무리를 이룰 것이다."
20 He blessed them that day, saying, “ Israel will bless in your name, saying, ‘God make you as Ephraim and as Manasseh’” He set Ephraim before Manasseh.And he blessed them that day, saying, In thee will Israel bless, saying, God make thee as Ephraim and as Manasseh: and he set Ephraim before Manasseh.그날 이스라엘이 그들에게 복을 빌며 말했다. "이스라엘이 너로 복을 빌어 '하나님께서 너를 에브라임과 므낫세처럼 되게 하시기를 빈다'고 할 것이다." 이렇게 그는 에브라임을 므낫세보다 앞세웠다.
21 Israel said to Joseph, “ Behold, I am dying, but God will be with you, and bring you again to the land of your fathers.And Israel said unto Joseph, Behold, I die: but God will be with you, and bring you again unto the land of your fathers.이스라엘이 요셉에게 말했다. "보아라, 나는 죽는다. 그러나 하나님께서 너희와 함께하셔서 너희를 네 조상들의 땅으로 다시 데려가실 것이다.
22 Moreover I have given to you one portion above your brothers, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow.”Moreover I have given to thee one portion above thy brethren, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow.또한 내가 네 형제들보다 너에게 한 몫을 더 주었으니, 그것은 내가 내 칼과 활로 아모리 사람의 손에서 빼앗은 것이다."
