1 Abram went up out of Egypt — he, his wife, all that he had, and Lot with him — into the South.And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the South.아브람은 이집트에서 올라왔다. 그와 그의 아내와 그가 가진 모든 것, 그리고 롯도 그와 함께 네게브 남쪽 지방으로 올라왔다.
2 Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold.And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.아브람은 가축과 은과 금이 매우 많은 큰 부자였다.
3 He went on his journeys from the South as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai,And he went on his journeys from the South even to Beth-el, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Beth-el and Ai,그는 남쪽 지방을 떠나 벧엘까지, 곧 처음에 그가 장막을 쳤던 벧엘과 아이 사이의 그곳으로 차츰 이동해 갔다.
4 to the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first. There Abram called on Yahweh’s name.unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of Jehovah.그곳은 그가 처음에 제단을 쌓았던 곳이었다. 거기서 아브람은 여호와의 이름을 불렀다.
5 Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks, herds, and tents.And Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents.아브람과 함께 다니던 롯에게도 양 떼와 소 떼와 장막이 있었다.
6 The land was not able to bear them, that they might live together; for their possessions were so great that they couldn’t live together.And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together.그들의 재산이 너무 많아서 그 땅이 그들을 함께 감당할 수 없었고, 그래서 그들은 함께 머물 수가 없었다.
7 There was strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock. The Canaanites and the Perizzites lived in the land at that time.And there was a strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s cattle and the herdsmen of Lot’s cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelt then in the land.아브람의 가축을 치는 목자들과 롯의 가축을 치는 목자들 사이에 다툼이 일어났다. 그때 그 땅에는 가나안 사람과 브리스 사람이 살고 있었다.
8 Abram said to Lot, “ Please, let there be no strife between you and me, and between your herdsmen and my herdsmen; for we are relatives.And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdsmen and thy herdsmen; for we are brethren.아브람이 롯에게 말했다. "제발 나와 너 사이에, 또 내 목자들과 네 목자들 사이에 다툼이 없게 하자. 우리는 한 친척이 아니냐.
9 Isn’t the whole land before you? Please separate yourself from me. If you go to the left hand, then I will go to the right. Or if you go to the right hand, then I will go to the left.”Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou take the right hand, then I will go to the left.온 땅이 네 앞에 있지 않으냐? 제발 나에게서 떨어져 가거라. 네가 왼쪽으로 가면 나는 오른쪽으로 가겠고, 네가 오른쪽으로 가면 나는 왼쪽으로 가겠다."
10 Lot lifted up his eyes, and saw all the plain of the Jordan, that it was well-watered everywhere, before Yahweh destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, like the garden of Yahweh, like the land of Egypt, as you go to Zoar.And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the Plain of the Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before Jehovah destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, like the garden of Jehovah, like the land of Egypt, as thou goest unto Zoar.롯이 눈을 들어 요단 강 온 들판을 바라보니, 그 땅은 어디나 물이 넉넉했다. 그것은 여호와께서 소돔과 고모라를 멸하시기 전이었는데, 소알로 가는 길까지 마치 여호와의 동산 같고 이집트 땅 같았다.
11 So Lot chose the Plain of the Jordan for himself. Lot traveled east, and they separated themselves from one another.So Lot chose him all the Plain of the Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.그래서 롯은 요단 강 온 들판을 자기 몫으로 골랐다. 롯이 동쪽으로 옮겨 가니, 그들은 서로 갈라서게 되었다.
12 Abram lived in the land of Canaan, and Lot lived in the cities of the plain, and moved his tent as far as Sodom.Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the Plain, and moved his tent as far as Sodom.아브람은 가나안 땅에 살았고, 롯은 그 들판의 성읍들에 살면서 장막을 소돔까지 옮겨 갔다.
13 Now the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinners against Yahweh.Now the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners against Jehovah exceedingly.그런데 소돔 사람들은 매우 악했고 여호와 앞에 죄를 짓는 자들이었다.
14 Yahweh said to Abram, after Lot was separated from him, “ Now, lift up your eyes, and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward,And Jehovah said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art, northward and southward and eastward and westward:롯이 그에게서 갈라선 뒤에 여호와께서 아브람에게 말씀하셨다. "이제 너는 눈을 들어 네가 있는 그곳에서 북쪽과 남쪽과 동쪽과 서쪽을 바라보아라.
15 for I will give all the land which you see to you and to your offspring forever.for all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.네가 보는 온 땅을 내가 너와 네 자손에게 영원히 주겠다.
16 I will make your offspring as the dust of the earth, so that if a man can count the dust of the earth, then your offspring may also be counted.And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then may thy seed also be numbered.내가 네 자손을 땅의 티끌처럼 많게 하겠다. 사람이 땅의 티끌을 셀 수 있다면, 네 자손도 셀 수 있을 것이다.
17 Arise, walk through the land in its length and in its width; for I will give it to you.”Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for unto thee will I give it.일어나서 그 땅을 길이와 너비로 두루 걸어 다녀라. 내가 그것을 너에게 주겠다."
18 Abram moved his tent, and came and lived by the oaks of Mamre, which are in Hebron, and built an altar there to Yahweh.And Abram moved his tent, and came and dwelt by the oaks of Mamre, which are in Hebron, and built there an altar unto Jehovah.아브람은 장막을 옮겨, 헤브론에 있는 마므레의 상수리나무들 곁으로 가서 거기 살았고, 거기에 여호와께 제단을 쌓았다.
