Though a wanderer from God, the truly pious ever desires to be drawn back to Him; and, though for a time negligent of duty, he never forgets the commandments by which it is taught. lost —therefore utterly helpless as to recovering itself ( Jeremiah 50:6 ; Luke 15:4 ). Not only the sinner before conversion, but the believer after conversion, is unable to recover himself; but the latter, after temporary wandering, knows to whom to look for restoration. Psalms 119:175 ; Psalms 119:176 seem to sum up the petitions, confessions, and professions of the Psalm. The writer desires God's favor, that he may praise Him for His truth, confesses that he has erred, but, in the midst of all his wanderings and adversities, professes an abiding attachment to the revealed Word of God, the theme of such repeated eulogies, and the recognized source of such great and unnumbered blessings. 176. 하나님에게서 헤매더라도 진정 경건한 자는 항상 그분께로 이끌려 돌아오기를 원한다. 그리고 일시적으로 의무에 소홀할지라도, 그것이 가르치는 계명들을 결코 잊지 않는다. 길 잃은 — 그러므로 스스로 돌아오는 것이 완전히 불가능하다(렘 50:6, 눅 15:4). 회심 전의 죄인뿐만 아니라 회심 후의 신자도 스스로 돌아올 수 없다. 그러나 후자는 일시적으로 헤맨 후에 회복을 위해 누구에게 바라보아야 하는지 안다. 시 119:175-176은 이 시편의 탄원, 고백, 서원을 요약하는 것처럼 보인다. 시인은 하나님의 은총을 소망하여 그분의 진리로 인해 그분을 찬양하게 되기를 원하고, 자신이 잘못을 범했음을 고백하지만, 온갖 헤맴과 역경 속에서도 하나님의 계시된 말씀, 곧 그토록 반복적인 찬사의 주제이자 그토록 많고 헤아릴 수 없는 복들의 인정된 원천에 대한 변함없는 애착을 고백한다. 이처럼 이 시편은 평소보다 더 교훈적이지만, 기도와 찬양이라는 헌신의 두 부분 모두의 매개체가 된다.
