1 Again, on the day when God’s sons came to present themselves before Yahweh, Satan came also among them to present himself before Yahweh.Again it came to pass on the day when the sons of God came to present themselves before Jehovah, that Satan came also among them to present himself before Jehovah.또 어느 날 하나님의 아들들이 여호와 앞에 나아와 섰는데, 사탄도 그들 가운데 끼어 여호와 앞에 서려고 왔다.
2 Yahweh said to Satan, “ Where have you come from?” Satan answered Yahweh, and said, “ From going back and forth in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.”And Jehovah said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered Jehovah, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.여호와께서 사탄에게 물으셨다. "너는 어디서 왔느냐?" 사탄이 여호와께 대답하여 말했다. "땅을 두루 돌아다니고, 그 위를 이리저리 거닐다가 왔습니다."
3 Yahweh said to Satan, “ Have you considered my servant Job? For there is no one like him in the earth, a blameless and an upright man, one who fears God, and turns away from evil. He still maintains his integrity, although you incited me against him, to ruin him without cause.”And Jehovah said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job? for there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and turneth away from evil: and he still holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.여호와께서 사탄에게 말씀하셨다. "네가 내 종 욥을 눈여겨보았느냐? 땅에는 그와 같은 사람이 없으니, 흠 없고 정직하며 하나님을 경외하고 악을 멀리하는 사람이다. 네가 까닭 없이 그를 망하게 하라고 나를 충동했으나, 그는 여전히 자기의 온전함을 굳게 지키고 있다."
4 Satan answered Yahweh, and said, “ Skin for skin. Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life.And Satan answered Jehovah, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.사탄이 여호와께 대답하여 말했다. "가죽으로 가죽을 바꾸는 법입니다. 사람은 자기 목숨을 위해서라면 가진 모든 것을 내어 줄 것입니다.
5 But stretch out your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will renounce you to your face.”But put forth thy hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will renounce thee to thy face.그러나 이제 주의 손을 펴서 그의 뼈와 살을 쳐 보십시오. 그러면 그가 주의 얼굴에 대고 주를 저주할 것입니다."
6 Yahweh said to Satan, “ Behold, he is in your hand. Only spare his life.”And Jehovah said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thy hand; only spare his life.여호와께서 사탄에게 말씀하셨다. "보아라, 그가 네 손안에 있다. 다만 그의 목숨만은 살려 두어라."
7 So Satan went out from the presence of Yahweh, and struck Job with painful sores from the sole of his foot to his head.So Satan went forth from the presence of Jehovah, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.그래서 사탄이 여호와 앞에서 물러가, 욥을 쳐서 발바닥부터 정수리까지 고통스러운 종기로 뒤덮었다.
8 He took for himself a potsherd to scrape himself with, and he sat among the ashes.And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself therewith; and he sat among the ashes.욥은 깨진 질그릇 조각을 가져다 몸을 긁으며, 잿더미 가운데 앉아 있었다.
9 Then his wife said to him, “Do you still maintain your integrity? Renounce God, and die.”Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still hold fast thine integrity? renounce God, and die.그때 그의 아내가 그에게 말했다. "당신은 아직도 자기의 온전함을 굳게 지키려 하나요? 하나님을 저주하고 죽으세요."
10 But he said to her, “ You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. What? Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?” In all this Job didn’t sin with his lips.But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.그러나 욥이 그녀에게 말했다. "당신은 어리석은 여인들이나 할 법한 말을 하는구려. 우리가 하나님의 손에서 좋은 것은 받으면서, 나쁜 것은 받지 못하겠소?" 이 모든 일에도 욥은 입술로 죄를 짓지 않았다.
11 Now when Job’s three friends heard of all this evil that had come on him, they each came from his own place: Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite; and they made an appointment together to come to sympathize with him and to comfort him.Now when Job’s three friends heard of all this evil that was come upon him, they came every one from his own place: Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite; and they made an appointment together to come to bemoan him and to comfort him.이제 욥의 세 친구가 그에게 닥친 이 모든 재앙의 소식을 듣고, 각자 자기가 사는 곳에서 왔으니, 데만 사람 엘리바스와 수아 사람 빌닷과 나아마 사람 소발이었다. 그들은 욥을 위로하고 그의 슬픔을 함께 나누려고 서로 약속하여 함께 왔다.
12 When they lifted up their eyes from a distance, and didn’t recognize him, they raised their voices, and wept; and they each tore his robe, and sprinkled dust on their heads toward the sky.And when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and knew him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his robe, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven.그들이 멀리서 눈을 들어 보았으나 욥을 알아보지 못하고, 소리를 높여 울며 각자 자기 겉옷을 찢고 하늘을 향해 티끌을 자기 머리 위에 뿌렸다.
13 So they sat down with him on the ground seven days and seven nights, and no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that his grief was very great.So they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spake a word unto him: for they saw that his grief was very great.그러고는 이레 동안 밤낮으로 그와 함께 땅바닥에 앉아 있었는데, 아무도 그에게 한마디 말도 하지 못했으니, 그의 고통이 너무도 큰 것을 보았기 때문이다.
