1 Moreover Elihu answered,Moreover Elihu answered and said,엘리후가 말을 이어 이렇게 대답했다.
2 “Do you think this to be your right, or do you say, ‘ My righteousness is more than God’s,’Thinkest thou this to be thy right, Or sayest thou, My righteousness is more than God’s,“당신은 이것이 옳다고 생각합니까? 당신은 ‘내 의가 하나님의 의보다 낫다’고 말하고 있습니다.
3 that you ask, ‘ What advantage will it be to you? What profit will I have, more than if I had sinned?’That thou sayest, What advantage will it be unto thee? And, What profit shall I have, more than if I had sinned?또한 ‘그것이 내게 무슨 유익이 됩니까? 내가 죄를 짓는 것보다 무슨 이득이 더 있습니까?’ 하고 묻고 있습니다.
4 I will answer you, and your companions with you.I will answer thee, And thy companions with thee.내가 당신과 당신 곁에 있는 친구들에게 대답하겠습니다.
5 Look to the skies, and see. See the skies, which are higher than you.Look unto the heavens, and see; And behold the skies, which are higher than thou.하늘을 우러러보십시오. 당신보다 높이 있는 저 구름을 바라보십시오.
6 If you have sinned, what effect do you have against him? If your transgressions are multiplied, what do you do to him?If thou hast sinned, what effectest thou against him? And if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?당신이 죄를 짓는다 한들 그분께 무슨 영향을 끼치겠습니까? 당신의 허물이 아무리 많아진다 한들 그분께 무슨 일을 할 수 있겠습니까?
7 If you are righteous, what do you give him? Or what does he receive from your hand?If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? Or what receiveth he of thy hand?당신이 의롭다 한들 그분께 무엇을 드리는 것입니까? 그분이 당신의 손에서 무엇을 받으시겠습니까?
8 Your wickedness may hurt a man as you are, and your righteousness may profit a son of man.Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; And thy righteousness may profit a son of man.당신의 악함은 당신 같은 사람에게나 해를 끼칠 뿐이고, 당신의 의로움도 사람의 아들에게나 유익을 줄 뿐입니다.
9 “ By reason of the multitude of oppressions they cry out. They cry for help by reason of the arm of the mighty.By reason of the multitude of oppressions they cry out; They cry for help by reason of the arm of the mighty.사람들은 수많은 억압 때문에 부르짖습니다. 강한 자의 팔에 눌려 도와 달라고 울부짖습니다.
10 But no one says, ‘ Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night,But none saith, Where is God my Maker, Who giveth songs in the night,그러나 아무도 ‘나를 지으신 하나님, 밤중에 노래를 주시는 분,
11 who teaches us more than the animals of the earth, and makes us wiser than the birds of the sky?’Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, And maketh us wiser than the birds of the heavens?우리를 땅의 짐승보다 더 가르치시고 하늘의 새보다 더 지혜롭게 하시는 분은 어디 계신가?’ 하고 묻지 않습니다.
12 There they cry, but no one answers, because of the pride of evil men.There they cry, but none giveth answer, Because of the pride of evil men.그곳에서 그들이 부르짖어도 아무도 응답하지 않으니, 이는 악한 자들의 교만 때문입니다.
13 Surely God will not hear an empty cry, neither will the Almighty regard it.Surely God will not hear an empty cry, Neither will the Almighty regard it.참으로 하나님은 헛된 부르짖음은 들으시지 않고, 전능하신 분은 그것을 돌아보시지 않습니다.
14 How much less when you say you don’t see him. The cause is before him, and you wait for him!How much less when thou sayest thou beholdest him not, The cause is before him, and thou waitest for him!하물며 당신이 그분을 뵐 수 없다고 말할 때야 더 그러하지 않겠습니까? 당신의 사정은 이미 그분 앞에 있으니, 그분을 기다리십시오!
15 But now, because he has not visited in his anger, neither does he greatly regard arrogance,But now, because he hath not visited in his anger, Neither doth he greatly regard arrogance;그러나 지금은 그분께서 진노로 벌하시지 않았고, 또한 교만함을 크게 개의치 않으셨다 하여,
16 therefore Job opens his mouth with empty talk, and he multiplies words without knowledge.”Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vanity; He multiplieth words without knowledge.욥이 입을 열어 헛된 말을 하며 지각없이 말만 많아진 것입니다.”
