1 Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered,Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said,그때에 데만 사람 엘리바스가 대답하여 말하였다.
2 “If someone ventures to talk with you, will you be grieved? But who can withhold himself from speaking?If one assay to commune with thee, wilt thou be grieved? But who can withhold himself from speaking?"누군가 감히 당신에게 말을 건넨다면 언짢으시겠습니까? 그러나 누가 말하지 않고 참을 수 있겠습니까?
3 Behold, you have instructed many, you have strengthened the weak hands.Behold, thou hast instructed many, And thou hast strengthened the weak hands.보십시오, 당신은 많은 사람을 가르쳤고, 힘없는 손을 굳세게 해 주었습니다.
4 Your words have supported him who was falling, you have made the feeble knees firm.Thy words have upholden him that was falling, And thou hast made firm the feeble knees.당신의 말은 넘어지는 사람을 붙들어 주었고, 휘청거리는 무릎을 든든하게 세워 주었습니다.
5 But now it has come to you, and you faint. It touches you, and you are troubled.But now it is come unto thee, and thou faintest; It toucheth thee, and thou art troubled.그런데 이제 그 일이 당신에게 닥치니 당신은 맥이 빠지고, 그것이 당신을 건드리니 당신은 어쩔 줄 몰라 합니다.
6 Isn’t your piety your confidence? Isn’t the integrity of your ways your hope?Is not thy fear of God thy confidence, And the integrity of thy ways thy hope?당신의 경건이 당신의 의지할 바가 아니겠습니까? 당신의 흠 없는 삶이 당신의 소망이 아니겠습니까?
7 “ Remember, now, who ever perished, being innocent? Or where were the upright cut off?Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished, being innocent? Or where were the upright cut off?생각해 보십시오, 죄 없는 사람이 망한 적이 언제 있었습니까? 정직한 사람이 끊어진 곳이 어디입니까?
8 According to what I have seen, those who plow iniquity and sow trouble, reap the same.According as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, And sow trouble, reap the same.내가 본 대로라면, 악을 갈아 일구고 재앙을 뿌리는 자들은 그대로 거두는 법입니다.
9 By the breath of God they perish. By the blast of his anger are they consumed.By the breath of God they perish, And by the blast of his anger are they consumed.그들은 하나님의 입김에 망하고, 그분이 진노하여 내뿜으시는 숨결에 사라지고 맙니다.
10 The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, the teeth of the young lions, are broken.The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, And the teeth of the young lions, are broken.사자가 울부짖고 사나운 사자가 으르렁대도, 젊은 사자들의 이빨은 부러집니다.
11 The old lion perishes for lack of prey. The cubs of the lioness are scattered abroad.The old lion perisheth for lack of prey, And the whelps of the lioness are scattered abroad.늙은 사자는 먹이가 없어 죽어 가고, 암사자의 새끼들은 뿔뿔이 흩어집니다.
12 “ Now a thing was secretly brought to me. My ear received a whisper of it.Now a thing was secretly brought to me, And mine ear received a whisper thereof.이제 어떤 말씀이 은밀히 내게 임하였고, 내 귀가 그 속삭임을 받았습니다.
13 In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on men,In thoughts from the visions of the night, When deep sleep falleth on men,사람들에게 깊은 잠이 쏟아질 때, 밤의 환상 가운데서 떠오른 생각 속에서,
14 fear came on me, and trembling, which made all my bones shake.Fear came upon me, and trembling, Which made all my bones to shake.두려움과 떨림이 내게 몰려와 내 모든 뼈를 떨게 하였습니다.
15 Then a spirit passed before my face. The hair of my flesh stood up.Then a spirit passed before my face; The hair of my flesh stood up.그때 한 영이 내 얼굴 앞을 지나가니, 내 몸의 털이 곤두섰습니다.
16 It stood still, but I couldn’t discern its appearance. A form was before my eyes. Silence, then I heard a voice, saying,It stood still, but I could not discern the appearance thereof; A form was before mine eyes: There was silence, and I heard a voice, saying,그것이 멈추어 섰으나 나는 그 모습을 분간할 수 없었고, 한 형체가 내 눈앞에 있었습니다. 고요한 가운데, 그때 나는 한 음성을 들었습니다.
17 ‘ Shall mortal man be more just than God? Shall a man be more pure than his Maker?Shall mortal man be more just than God? Shall a man be more pure than his Maker?'죽을 수밖에 없는 사람이 하나님보다 더 의롭겠느냐? 사람이 자기를 지으신 분보다 더 깨끗하겠느냐?
18 Behold, he puts no trust in his servants. He charges his angels with error.Behold, he putteth no trust in his servants; And his angels he chargeth with folly:보아라, 그분은 자기 종들도 신뢰하지 않으시고, 자기 천사들에게도 허물이 있다 하시는데,
19 How much more those who dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, who are crushed before the moth!How much more them that dwell in houses of clay, Whose foundation is in the dust, Who are crushed before the moth!하물며 흙집에 살며 그 기초가 티끌에 있고 좀 앞에서 으스러지는 자들이야 어떠하겠느냐?
20 Between morning and evening they are destroyed. They perish forever without any regarding it.Betwixt morning and evening they are destroyed: They perish for ever without any regarding it.그들은 아침과 저녁 사이에 부서지며, 아무도 돌아보지 않는 가운데 영원히 사라진다.
21 Isn’t their tent cord plucked up within them? They die, and that without wisdom.’Is not their tent-cord plucked up within them? They die, and that without wisdom.그들 속에 박힌 장막 줄이 뽑히는 것이 아니냐? 그들은 죽되, 지혜도 없이 죽는다.'"
