1 Then Job answered,Then Job answered and said,그때에 욥이 대답하여 말하였다.
2 “ Even today my complaint is rebellious. His hand is heavy in spite of my groaning.Even to-day is my complaint rebellious: My stroke is heavier than my groaning."오늘도 내 탄식은 여전히 반항하는 것 같습니다. 내가 신음하는데도 그분의 손은 무겁게 나를 짓누릅니다.
3 Oh that I knew where I might find him! That I might come even to his seat!Oh that I knew where I might find him! That I might come even to his seat!아, 그분을 어디서 찾을 수 있는지 내가 알기만 한다면! 그분의 보좌 앞에까지 나아갈 수 있다면!
4 I would set my cause in order before him, and fill my mouth with arguments.I would set my cause in order before him, And fill my mouth with arguments.나는 그분 앞에 내 사정을 조리 있게 펼쳐 놓고, 내 입에 변론할 말을 가득 채우겠습니다.
5 I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would tell me.I would know the words which he would answer me, And understand what he would say unto me.그분이 내게 대답하실 말씀을 알고, 그분이 내게 하실 말씀을 깨닫겠습니다.
6 Would he contend with me in the greatness of his power? No, but he would listen to me.Would he contend with me in the greatness of his power? Nay; but he would give heed unto me.그분이 큰 능력으로 나와 다투려 하시겠습니까? 아닙니다. 오히려 그분은 내 말에 귀 기울여 주실 것입니다.
7 There the upright might reason with him, so I should be delivered forever from my judge.There the upright might reason with him; So should I be delivered for ever from my judge.거기서는 정직한 사람이 그분과 변론할 수 있을 것이니, 그리하면 나는 나를 심판하시는 분에게서 영원히 벗어나게 될 것입니다.
8 “ If I go east, he is not there. If I go west, I can’t find him.Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; And backward, but I cannot perceive him;보십시오, 내가 동쪽으로 가도 그분은 거기 계시지 않고, 서쪽으로 가도 그분을 찾을 수 없습니다.
9 He works to the north, but I can’t see him. He turns south, but I can’t catch a glimpse of him.On the left hand, when he doth work, but I cannot behold him; He hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him.그분이 북쪽에서 일하셔도 나는 그분을 볼 수 없고, 남쪽으로 돌이키셔도 나는 그분을 언뜻이라도 볼 수 없습니다.
10 But he knows the way that I take. When he has tried me, I will come out like gold.But he knoweth the way that I take; When he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.그러나 그분은 내가 가는 길을 아십니다. 그분이 나를 단련하신 후에는 내가 정금처럼 나오게 될 것입니다.
11 My foot has held fast to his steps. I have kept his way, and not turned away.My foot hath held fast to his steps; His way have I kept, and turned not aside.내 발은 그분의 발자취를 굳게 따랐고, 나는 그분의 길을 지키며 곁길로 벗어나지 않았습니다.
12 I haven’t gone back from the commandment of his lips. I have treasured up the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.I have not gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have treasured up the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.나는 그분의 입술에서 나온 계명을 저버리지 않았고, 그분의 입에서 나온 말씀을 내게 필요한 양식보다 더 귀하게 간직하였습니다.
13 But he stands alone, and who can oppose him? What his soul desires, even that he does.But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? And what his soul desireth, even that he doeth.그러나 그분은 홀로 서 계시니, 누가 그분을 막을 수 있겠습니까? 그분의 마음이 원하시는 것을 그대로 행하십니다.
14 For he performs that which is appointed for me. Many such things are with him.For he performeth that which is appointed for me: And many such things are with him.그분은 나를 위해 정하신 일을 이루시며, 이런 일들이 그분께 많이 있습니다.
15 Therefore I am terrified at his presence. When I consider, I am afraid of him.Therefore am I terrified at his presence; When I consider, I am afraid of him.그러므로 나는 그분 앞에서 두려워 떨며, 생각할수록 그분이 두렵습니다.
16 For God has made my heart faint. The Almighty has terrified me.For God hath made my heart faint, And the Almighty hath terrified me;하나님께서 내 마음을 약하게 하셨고, 전능하신 분이 나를 두렵게 하셨습니다.
17 Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither did he cover the thick darkness from my face.Because I was not cut off before the darkness, Neither did he cover the thick darkness from my face.이는 내가 어둠 앞에서 끊어지지 않았고, 그분이 짙은 어둠을 내 얼굴에서 가려 주지도 않으셨기 때문입니다."
