1 “ Man, who is born of a woman, is of few days, and full of trouble.Man, that is born of a woman, Is of few days, and full of trouble."여자에게서 태어난 사람은 그 날이 짧고 괴로움으로 가득합니다.
2 He grows up like a flower, and is cut down. He also flees like a shadow, and doesn’t continue.He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: He fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.그는 꽃처럼 피어났다가 꺾이며, 그림자처럼 사라져 머물지 못합니다.
3 Do you open your eyes on such a one, and bring me into judgment with you?And dost thou open thine eyes upon such a one, And bringest me into judgment with thee?그런데도 주께서는 이런 자에게 눈을 두시고, 저를 주 앞으로 끌어내어 심판하십니까?
4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? Not one.Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.누가 더러운 것에서 깨끗한 것을 끌어낼 수 있겠습니까? 아무도 없습니다.
5 Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months is with you, and you have appointed his bounds that he can’t pass.Seeing his days are determined, The number of his months is with thee, And thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;그의 날이 정해져 있고, 그의 달 수가 주께 달려 있으며, 주께서 그가 넘지 못할 경계를 정해 두셨으니,
6 Look away from him, that he may rest, until he accomplishes, as a hireling, his day.Look away from him, that he may rest, Till he shall accomplish, as a hireling, his day.그에게서 눈을 돌리셔서 그가 쉬게 하시고, 품꾼이 하루 일을 마치듯 그가 자기 날을 마치게 하소서.
7 “ For there is hope for a tree if it is cut down, that it will sprout again, that the tender branch of it will not cease.For there is hope of a tree, If it be cut down, that it will sprout again, And that the tender branch thereof will not cease.나무에게는 그래도 희망이 있습니다. 잘려도 다시 움이 트고, 그 연한 가지가 끊이지 않습니다.
8 Though its root grows old in the earth, and its stock dies in the ground,Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, And the stock thereof die in the ground;그 뿌리가 땅속에서 늙고 그 그루터기가 흙에서 죽더라도,
9 yet through the scent of water it will bud, and sprout boughs like a plant.Yet through the scent of water it will bud, And put forth boughs like a plant.물기운만 닿으면 다시 싹을 내고, 어린 나무처럼 가지를 뻗습니다.
10 But man dies, and is laid low. Yes, man gives up the spirit, and where is he?But man dieth, and is laid low: Yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?그러나 사람은 죽으면 쓰러져 누우니, 사람이 숨을 거두면 그가 어디에 있습니까?
11 As the waters fail from the sea, and the river wastes and dries up,As the waters fail from the sea, And the river wasteth and drieth up;바닷물이 줄어들고 강물이 마르고 메말라 버리듯,
12 so man lies down and doesn’t rise. Until the heavens are no more, they will not awake, nor be roused out of their sleep.So man lieth down and riseth not: Till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, Nor be roused out of their sleep.사람도 누우면 다시 일어나지 못합니다. 하늘이 사라지기까지 그들은 깨어나지 못하고, 잠에서 깨어 일으켜지지 못합니다.
13 “ Oh that you would hide me in Sheol, that you would keep me secret until your wrath is past, that you would appoint me a set time and remember me!Oh that thou wouldest hide me in Sheol, That thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, That thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!오, 주께서 저를 스올에 숨겨 주시고, 주의 진노가 지나갈 때까지 저를 감추어 주셨으면! 저를 위해 정한 때를 두시고 저를 기억해 주셨으면!
14 If a man dies, will he live again? I would wait all the days of my warfare, until my release should come.If a man die, shall he live again? All the days of my warfare would I wait, Till my release should come.사람이 죽으면 다시 살 수 있겠습니까? 제가 풀려날 때가 올 때까지, 저는 제 싸움의 모든 날 동안 기다리겠습니다.
15 You would call, and I would answer you. You would have a desire for the work of your hands.Thou wouldest call, and I would answer thee: Thou wouldest have a desire to the work of thy hands.주께서 부르시면 제가 대답하겠고, 주께서는 손수 지으신 것을 그리워하실 것입니다.
16 But now you count my steps. Don’t you watch over my sin?But now thou numberest my steps: Dost thou not watch over my sin?그러나 지금은 주께서 제 걸음을 낱낱이 세시니, 주께서 제 죄를 지켜보고 계시지 않습니까?
17 My disobedience is sealed up in a bag. You fasten up my iniquity.My transgression is sealed up in a bag, And thou fastenest up mine iniquity.제 허물은 주머니 속에 봉인되어 있고, 주께서는 제 죄악을 단단히 싸매 두십니다.
18 “But the mountain falling comes to nothing. The rock is removed out of its place.But the mountain falling cometh to nought; And the rock is removed out of its place;그러나 무너지는 산이 끝내 사라지고, 바위가 그 자리에서 옮겨지며,
19 The waters wear the stones. The torrents of it wash away the dust of the earth. So you destroy the hope of man.The waters wear the stones; The overflowings thereof wash away the dust of the earth: So thou destroyest the hope of man.물이 돌을 닳게 하고, 그 넘치는 물줄기가 땅의 흙을 씻어 가듯이, 주께서는 사람의 희망을 그렇게 무너뜨리십니다.
20 You forever prevail against him, and he departs. You change his face, and send him away.Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth; Thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.주께서 그를 영원히 이기시니 그는 떠나가며, 주께서 그의 얼굴을 변하게 하셔서 그를 보내 버리십니다.
21 His sons come to honor, and he doesn’t know it. They are brought low, but he doesn’t perceive it of them.His sons come to honor, and he knoweth it not; And they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.그의 아들들이 존귀하게 되어도 그는 알지 못하고, 그들이 천하게 되어도 그는 그것을 깨닫지 못합니다.
22 But his flesh on him has pain, and his soul within him mourns.”But his flesh upon him hath pain, And his soul within him mourneth.다만 그의 몸에 붙은 살이 아파하고, 그의 속에 있는 영혼이 슬퍼할 뿐입니다."
