1 Yahweh spoke to Moses, “ Depart, go up from here, you and the people that you have brought up out of the land of Egypt, to the land of which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, ‘ I will give it to your offspring.’And Jehovah spake unto Moses, Depart, go up hence, thou and the people that thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt, unto the land of which I sware unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, Unto thy seed will I give it:여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "이곳을 떠나 올라가거라. 너와, 네가 이집트 땅에서 이끌고 나온 백성은 내가 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 '네 후손에게 주겠다' 하고 맹세한 그 땅으로 올라가거라.
2 I will send an angel before you; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite.and I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite:내가 한 천사를 네 앞서 보내어 가나안 사람과 아모리 사람과 헷 사람과 브리스 사람과 히위 사람과 여부스 사람을 쫓아내겠다.
3 Go to a land flowing with milk and honey; but I will not go up among you, for you are a stiff-necked people, lest I consume you on the way.”unto a land flowing with milk and honey: for I will not go up in the midst of thee, for thou art a stiffnecked people, lest I consume thee in the way.너희는 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅으로 들어갈 것이다. 그러나 나는 너희 가운데서 함께 올라가지 않겠다. 너희는 목이 곧은 백성이라, 내가 도중에 너희를 멸할까 염려되기 때문이다."
4 When the people heard this evil news, they mourned; and no one put on his jewelry.And when the people heard these evil tidings, they mourned: and no man did put on him his ornaments.백성이 이 무서운 말씀을 듣고 슬퍼하였으며, 아무도 자기 몸에 패물을 차지 않았다.
5 Yahweh had said to Moses, “ Tell the children of Israel, ‘ You are a stiff-necked people. If I were to go up among you for one moment, I would consume you. Therefore now take off your jewelry from you, that I may know what to do to you.’”And Jehovah said unto Moses, Say unto the children of Israel, Ye are a stiffnecked people; if I go up into the midst of thee for one moment, I shall consume thee: therefore now put off thy ornaments from thee, that I may know what to do unto thee.여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "이스라엘 자손에게 이렇게 전하여라. '너희는 목이 곧은 백성이다. 내가 한순간이라도 너희 가운데로 올라가면 너희를 멸하고 말 것이다. 그러므로 이제 너희 몸에서 패물을 떼어 내어라. 그러면 내가 너희를 어떻게 해야 할지 알겠다.'"
6 The children of Israel stripped themselves of their jewelry from Mount Horeb onward.And the children of Israel stripped themselves of their ornaments from mount Horeb onward.그래서 이스라엘 자손은 호렙 산을 떠난 뒤로 자기들의 패물을 떼어 버렸다.
7 Now Moses used to take the tent and pitch it outside the camp, far away from the camp, and he called it “ The Tent of Meeting.” Everyone who sought Yahweh went out to the Tent of Meeting, which was outside the camp.Now Moses used to take the tent and to pitch it without the camp, afar off from the camp; and he called it, The tent of meeting. And it came to pass, that every one that sought Jehovah went out unto the tent of meeting, which was without the camp.모세는 늘 장막을 가져다가 진영 밖, 진영에서 멀리 떨어진 곳에 치고는, 그것을 "회막"이라 불렀다. 여호와를 찾는 사람은 누구든지 진영 밖에 있는 회막으로 나아갔다.
8 When Moses went out to the Tent, all the people rose up, and stood, everyone at their tent door, and watched Moses, until he had gone into the Tent.And it came to pass, when Moses went out unto the Tent, that all the people rose up, and stood, every man at his tent door, and looked after Moses, until he was gone into the Tent.모세가 그 장막으로 나아갈 때면, 온 백성이 일어나 저마다 자기 장막 문 앞에 서서, 모세가 장막 안으로 들어가기까지 그를 바라보았다.
9 When Moses entered into the Tent, the pillar of cloud descended, stood at the door of the Tent, and Yahweh spoke with Moses.And it came to pass, when Moses entered into the Tent, the pillar of cloud descended, and stood at the door of the Tent: and Jehovah spake with Moses.모세가 장막 안으로 들어가면, 구름 기둥이 내려와 장막 문 앞에 서고, 여호와께서 모세와 말씀하셨다.
10 All the people saw the pillar of cloud stand at the door of the Tent, and all the people rose up and worshiped, everyone at their tent door.And all the people saw the pillar of cloud stand at the door of the Tent: and all the people rose up and worshipped, every man at his tent door.온 백성은 구름 기둥이 장막 문 앞에 서 있는 것을 보면, 모두 일어나 저마다 자기 장막 문 앞에서 경배하였다.
11 Yahweh spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. He turned again into the camp, but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, didn’t depart from the Tent.And Jehovah spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his minister Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the Tent.여호와께서는 사람이 자기 친구에게 말하듯이 모세와 얼굴을 마주하여 말씀하셨다. 모세가 다시 진영으로 돌아갈 때에도, 그의 종인 눈의 아들 젊은이 여호수아는 장막을 떠나지 않았다.
12 Moses said to Yahweh, “ Behold, you tell me, ‘ Bring up this people;’ and you haven’t let me know whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, ‘ I know you by name, and you have also found favor in my sight.’And Moses said unto Jehovah, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found favor in my sight.모세가 여호와께 아뢰었다. "보십시오, 주께서 저에게 '이 백성을 이끌고 올라가라'고 말씀하시면서도, 누구를 저와 함께 보내실지는 알려 주지 않으셨습니다. 그런데도 주께서는 '내가 너를 이름으로 안다. 또 너는 내 눈앞에서 은혜를 입었다'고 말씀하셨습니다.
13 Now therefore, if I have found favor in your sight, please show me your way, now, that I may know you, so that I may find favor in your sight; and consider that this nation is your people.”Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found favor in thy sight, show me now thy ways, that I may know thee, to the end that I may find favor in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.그러니 이제 제가 주의 눈앞에서 은혜를 입었거든, 부디 주의 길을 제게 보여 주십시오. 그리하여 제가 주를 알고, 주의 눈앞에서 은혜를 입게 하여 주십시오. 또 이 민족이 주의 백성임을 헤아려 주십시오."
14 He said, “ My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.여호와께서 말씀하셨다. "내가 친히 너와 함께 가겠다. 내가 너를 쉬게 하겠다."
15 Moses said to him, “If your presence doesn’t go with me, don’t carry us up from here.And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.모세가 다시 아뢰었다. "주께서 친히 저와 함께 가지 않으시려거든, 저희를 이곳에서 올려 보내지 마십시오.
16 For how would people know that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people? Isn’t it that you go with us, so that we are separated, I and your people, from all the people who are on the surface of the earth?”For wherein now shall it be known that I have found favor in thy sight, I and thy people? is it not in that thou goest with us, so that we are separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth?주께서 저희와 함께 가지 않으시면, 저와 주의 백성이 주의 눈앞에서 은혜를 입은 줄을 어떻게 알 수 있겠습니까? 주께서 저희와 함께 가심으로써, 저와 주의 백성이 땅 위의 모든 백성과 구별되는 것이 아니겠습니까?"
17 Yahweh said to Moses, “ I will do this thing also that you have spoken; for you have found favor in my sight, and I know you by name.”And Jehovah said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken; for thou hast found favor in my sight, and I know thee by name.여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "네가 말한 이 일도 내가 행하겠다. 너는 내 눈앞에서 은혜를 입었고, 나는 너를 이름으로 알기 때문이다."
18 Moses said, “ Please show me your glory.”And he said, Show me, I pray thee, thy glory.모세가 아뢰었다. "부디 주의 영광을 제게 보여 주십시오."
19 He said, “ I will make all my goodness pass before you, and will proclaim Yahweh’s name before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.”And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and will proclaim the name of Jehovah before thee; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.여호와께서 말씀하셨다. "내가 내 모든 선하심을 네 앞으로 지나가게 하고, 네 앞에서 여호와의 이름을 선포하겠다. 나는 은혜 베풀 자에게 은혜를 베풀고, 긍휼히 여길 자에게 긍휼을 베풀 것이다."
20 He said, “ You cannot see my face, for man may not see me and live.”And he said, Thou canst not see my face; for man shall not see me and live.또 말씀하셨다. "그러나 너는 내 얼굴을 보지 못한다. 나를 보고 살아남을 사람이 없기 때문이다."
21 Yahweh also said, “ Behold, there is a place by me, and you shall stand on the rock.And Jehovah said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon the rock:여호와께서 또 말씀하셨다. "보아라, 내 곁에 한 곳이 있으니, 너는 그 바위 위에 서 있어라.
22 It will happen, while my glory passes by, that I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and will cover you with my hand until I have passed by;and it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a cleft of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand until I have passed by:내 영광이 지나갈 때에, 내가 너를 바위 틈에 두고, 내가 다 지나가기까지 내 손으로 너를 덮겠다.
23 then I will take away my hand, and you will see my back; but my face shall not be seen.”and I will take away my hand, and thou shalt see my back; but my face shall not be seen.그런 뒤에 내가 손을 거두면, 너는 내 등을 보게 될 것이다. 그러나 내 얼굴은 보이지 않을 것이다."
