1 Afterward Moses and Aaron came, and said to Pharaoh, “ This is what Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, ‘ Let my people go, that they may hold a feast to me in the wilderness.’”And afterward Moses and Aaron came, and said unto Pharaoh, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness.그 후에 모세와 아론이 바로에게 나아가 말하였다. "이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다. '내 백성을 보내어 그들이 광야에서 나를 위하여 절기를 지키게 하라.'"
2 Pharaoh said, “ Who is Yahweh, that I should listen to his voice to let Israel go? I don’t know Yahweh, and moreover I will not let Israel go.”And Pharaoh said, Who is Jehovah, that I should hearken unto his voice to let Israel go? I know not Jehovah, and moreover I will not let Israel go.바로가 말하였다. "여호와가 누구이기에 내가 그 목소리를 듣고 이스라엘을 보내야 하느냐? 나는 여호와를 알지 못하고, 또한 이스라엘도 보내지 않겠다."
3 They said, “ The God of the Hebrews has met with us. Please let us go three days’ journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to Yahweh, our God, lest he fall on us with pestilence, or with the sword.”And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days’ journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice unto Jehovah our God, lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword.그들이 말하였다. "히브리 사람의 하나님께서 우리에게 나타나셨습니다. 부디 우리가 광야로 사흘 길을 가서 우리 하나님 여호와께 제사를 드리게 해 주십시오. 그렇지 않으면 그분께서 전염병이나 칼로 우리를 치실까 두렵습니다."
4 The king of Egypt said to them, “ Why do you, Moses and Aaron, take the people from their work? Get back to your burdens!”And the king of Egypt said unto them, Wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, loose the people from their works? get you unto your burdens.이집트 왕이 그들에게 말하였다. "모세와 아론아, 어찌하여 너희는 백성을 그들의 일에서 손 떼게 하느냐? 너희의 노역으로 돌아가라!"
5 Pharaoh said, “ Behold, the people of the land are now many, and you make them rest from their burdens.”And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land are now many, and ye make them rest from their burdens.바로가 또 말하였다. "보라, 이 땅의 백성이 이제 많아졌는데, 너희가 그들을 노역에서 쉬게 하려는구나."
6 The same day Pharaoh commanded the taskmasters of the people and their officers, saying,And the same day Pharaoh commanded the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying,바로가 그날로 백성의 감독관들과 그들의 작업반장들에게 명령하여 말하였다.
7 “ You shall no longer give the people straw to make brick, as before. Let them go and gather straw for themselves.Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves."너희는 더 이상 전처럼 백성에게 벽돌 만들 짚을 주지 말라. 그들이 직접 가서 자기들이 쓸 짚을 모으게 하라.
8 You shall require from them the number of the bricks which they made before. You shall not diminish anything of it, for they are idle. Therefore they cry, saying, ‘ Let’s go and sacrifice to our God.’And the number of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish aught thereof: for they are idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.그러나 그들이 전에 만들던 벽돌의 수량은 그대로 그들에게 요구하고, 거기서 조금도 줄이지 말라. 그들이 게으르기 때문에 '우리가 가서 우리 하나님께 제사를 드리게 해 달라'고 부르짖는 것이다.
9 Let heavier work be laid on the men, that they may labor in it. Don’t let them pay any attention to lying words.”Let heavier work be laid upon the men, that they may labor therein; and let them not regard lying words.그 사람들에게 더 무거운 일을 지워 거기에 매달리게 하고, 거짓된 말에는 귀를 기울이지 못하게 하라."
10 The taskmasters of the people went out with their officers, and they spoke to the people, saying, “ This is what Pharaoh says: ‘ I will not give you straw.And the taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spake to the people, saying, Thus saith Pharaoh, I will not give you straw.백성의 감독관들과 작업반장들이 나가서 백성에게 말하였다. "바로께서 이렇게 말씀하셨다. '내가 너희에게 짚을 주지 않겠다.
11 Go yourselves, get straw where you can find it, for nothing of your work shall be diminished.’”Go yourselves, get you straw where ye can find it: for nought of your work shall be diminished.너희가 직접 가서 짚을 찾을 수 있는 곳에서 구해 오라. 그러나 너희 일은 조금도 줄어들지 않을 것이다.'"
12 So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble for straw.So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble for straw.그래서 백성은 짚 대신 쓸 그루터기를 모으려고 이집트 온 땅에 흩어졌다.
13 The taskmasters were urgent saying, “ Fulfill your work quota daily, as when there was straw!”And the taskmasters were urgent saying, Fulfil your works, your daily tasks, as when there was straw.감독관들은 다그치며 말하였다. "짚이 있을 때처럼 너희가 맡은 일을 날마다 다 채우라!"
14 The officers of the children of Israel, whom Pharaoh’s taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and were asked, “ Why haven’t you fulfilled your quota both yesterday and today, in making brick as before?”And the officers of the children of Israel, whom Pharaoh’s taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and demanded, Wherefore have ye not fulfilled your task both yesterday and to-day, in making brick as heretofore?바로의 감독관들이 이스라엘 자손 위에 세운 작업반장들이 매를 맞으며 추궁당하였다. "어찌하여 너희는 어제도 오늘도 전처럼 벽돌 만드는 할당량을 채우지 못하였느냐?"
15 Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried to Pharaoh, saying, “ Why do you deal this way with your servants?Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried unto Pharaoh, saying, Wherefore dealest thou thus with thy servants?그러자 이스라엘 자손의 작업반장들이 바로에게 나아가 부르짖었다. "어찌하여 왕께서는 주의 종들에게 이렇게 하십니까?
16 No straw is given to your servants, and they tell us, ‘ Make brick!’ and behold, your servants are beaten; but the fault is in your own people.”There is no straw given unto thy servants, and they say to us, Make brick: and, behold, thy servants are beaten; but the fault is in thine own people.주의 종들에게는 짚을 주지 않으면서 우리에게 '벽돌을 만들라'고 합니다. 보십시오, 주의 종들이 매를 맞으니, 잘못은 왕의 백성에게 있습니다."
17 But Pharaoh said, “ You are idle! You are idle! Therefore you say, ‘ Let’s go and sacrifice to Yahweh.’But he said, Ye are idle, ye are idle: therefore ye say, Let us go and sacrifice to Jehovah.그러나 그가 말하였다. "너희는 게으르다, 게으르다! 그래서 '우리가 가서 여호와께 제사를 드리게 해 달라'고 하는 것이다.
18 Go therefore now, and work; for no straw shall be given to you; yet you shall deliver the same number of bricks!”Go therefore now, and work; for there shall no straw be given you, yet shall ye deliver the number of bricks.그러므로 이제 가서 일하라. 너희에게 짚은 주지 않겠으나, 너희는 벽돌을 같은 수량으로 바쳐야 한다!"
19 The officers of the children of Israel saw that they were in trouble when it was said, “ You shall not diminish anything from your daily quota of bricks!”And the officers of the children of Israel did see that they were in evil case, when it was said, Ye shall not diminish aught from your bricks, your daily tasks.이스라엘 자손의 작업반장들은 "날마다 만드는 벽돌의 할당량에서 조금도 줄이지 못한다"는 말을 듣고 자기들이 곤경에 빠진 것을 알았다.
20 They met Moses and Aaron, who stood along the way, as they came out from Pharaoh.And they met Moses and Aaron, who stood in the way, as they came forth from Pharaoh:그들이 바로에게서 나오다가 길에 서 있던 모세와 아론을 만나
21 They said to them, “ May Yahweh look at you and judge, because you have made us a stench to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to kill us!”and they said unto them, Jehovah look upon you, and judge: because ye have made our savor to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to slay us.그들에게 말하였다. "여호와께서 당신들을 살피시고 심판하시기를 바랍니다. 당신들이 우리를 바로의 눈과 그 신하들의 눈에 역겨운 냄새가 되게 하여, 그들의 손에 칼을 쥐어 우리를 죽이게 하였습니다."
22 Moses returned to Yahweh, and said, “ Lord, why have you brought trouble on this people? Why is it that you have sent me?And Moses returned unto Jehovah, and said, Lord, wherefore hast thou dealt ill with this people? why is it that thou hast sent me?모세가 여호와께 돌아가 말하였다. "주님, 어찌하여 이 백성에게 화를 가져오셨습니까? 어찌하여 저를 보내셨습니까?
23 For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble on this people. You have not rescued your people at all!”For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath dealt ill with this people; neither hast thou delivered thy people at all.제가 바로에게 가서 주의 이름으로 말한 뒤로, 그는 이 백성에게 화를 가져왔고, 주께서는 주의 백성을 조금도 건져 내지 않으셨습니다."
