1 In the third month after the children of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on that same day they came into the wilderness of Sinai.In the third month after the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai.이스라엘 자손이 이집트 땅에서 나온 지 세 번째 달, 바로 그날에 그들은 시내 광야에 이르렀다.
2 When they had departed from Rephidim, and had come to the wilderness of Sinai, they encamped in the wilderness; and there Israel encamped before the mountain.And when they were departed from Rephidim, and were come to the wilderness of Sinai, they encamped in the wilderness; and there Israel encamped before the mount.그들이 르비딤을 떠나 시내 광야에 이르러 그 광야에 진을 쳤다. 거기서 이스라엘은 산 앞에 진을 쳤다.
3 Moses went up to God, and Yahweh called to him out of the mountain, saying, “ This is what you shall tell the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:And Moses went up unto God, and Jehovah called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:모세가 하나님께로 올라가니, 여호와께서 산에서 그를 불러 말씀하셨다. "너는 야곱의 집에 이렇게 말하고, 이스라엘 자손에게 일러라.
4 ‘ You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings, and brought you to myself.Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles’ wings, and brought you unto myself.'너희는 내가 이집트 사람들에게 한 일을 보았고, 또 내가 너희를 독수리 날개로 업어 내게로 데려온 것을 보았다.
5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, then you shall be my own possession from among all peoples; for all the earth is mine;Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be mine own possession from among all peoples: for all the earth is mine:그러니 이제 너희가 정말로 내 목소리에 순종하고 내 언약을 지키면, 너희는 모든 민족 가운데서 내 소유가 될 것이다. 온 땅이 다 내 것이기 때문이다.
6 and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”and ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.너희는 내게 제사장 나라가 되고 거룩한 백성이 될 것이다.' 이것이 네가 이스라엘 자손에게 전할 말이다."
7 Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and set before them all these words which Yahweh commanded him.And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and set before them all these words which Jehovah commanded him.모세가 와서 백성의 장로들을 불러, 여호와께서 자기에게 명하신 이 모든 말씀을 그들 앞에 내놓았다.
8 All the people answered together, and said, “ All that Yahweh has spoken we will do.” Moses reported the words of the people to Yahweh.And all the people answered together, and said, All that Jehovah hath spoken we will do. And Moses reported the words of the people unto Jehovah.모든 백성이 함께 대답하여 말했다. "여호와께서 말씀하신 것을 우리가 다 행하겠습니다." 모세가 백성의 말을 여호와께 전했다.
9 Yahweh said to Moses, “ Behold, I come to you in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and may also believe you forever.” Moses told the words of the people to Yahweh.And Jehovah said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and may also believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto Jehovah.여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "보아라, 내가 짙은 구름 속에서 네게 가겠다. 이는 내가 너와 말할 때에 백성이 듣고, 또 너를 영원히 믿게 하려는 것이다." 모세가 백성의 말을 여호와께 전했다.
10 Yahweh said to Moses, “ Go to the people, and sanctify them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments,And Jehovah said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to-day and to-morrow, and let them wash their garments,여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "백성에게 가서 오늘과 내일 그들을 거룩하게 하고, 그들의 옷을 빨게 하여라.
11 and be ready for the third day; for on the third day Yahweh will come down in the sight of all the people on Mount Sinai.and be ready against the third day; for the third day Jehovah will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.그리고 셋째 날을 위해 준비하게 하여라. 셋째 날에 여호와가 모든 백성이 보는 앞에서 시내 산에 내려올 것이기 때문이다.
12 You shall set bounds to the people all around, saying, ‘ Be careful that you don’t go up onto the mountain, or touch its border. Whoever touches the mountain shall be surely put to death.And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death:너는 백성을 위해 사방으로 경계를 정하고 이렇게 말하여라. '조심하여 산에 올라가거나 그 경계를 만지지 말라. 산을 만지는 자는 반드시 죽임을 당할 것이다.
13 No hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned or shot through; whether it is animal or man, he shall not live.’ When the trumpet sounds long, they shall come up to the mountain.”no hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, he shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.손을 그에게 대지 말고, 돌로 치거나 화살로 쏘아 죽여라. 짐승이든 사람이든 살아남지 못할 것이다.' 나팔 소리가 길게 울리면 그들은 산으로 올라올 수 있다."
14 Moses went down from the mountain to the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.And Moses went down from the mount unto the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their garments.모세가 산에서 백성에게로 내려가 백성을 거룩하게 하니, 그들이 자기 옷을 빨았다.
15 He said to the people, “ Be ready by the third day. Don’t have sexual relations with a woman.”And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day: come not near a woman.모세가 백성에게 말했다. "셋째 날을 위해 준비하라. 여자를 가까이하지 말라."
16 On the third day, when it was morning, there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain, and the sound of an exceedingly loud trumpet; and all the people who were in the camp trembled.And it came to pass on the third day, when it was morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of a trumpet exceeding loud; and all the people that were in the camp trembled.셋째 날 아침이 되자, 천둥과 번개가 치고 산 위에 짙은 구름이 끼었으며 나팔 소리가 지극히 크게 울렸다. 진에 있던 모든 백성이 떨었다.
17 Moses led the people out of the camp to meet God; and they stood at the lower part of the mountain.And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.모세가 백성을 진에서 이끌어 내어 하나님을 맞게 하니, 그들이 산기슭에 섰다.
18 All of Mount Sinai smoked, because Yahweh descended on it in fire; and its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly.And mount Sinai, the whole of it, smoked, because Jehovah descended upon it in fire; and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.여호와께서 불 가운데 시내 산에 내려오셨으므로 온 산이 연기에 휩싸였다. 그 연기가 가마의 연기처럼 올라가고 온 산이 크게 진동했다.
19 When the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by a voice.And when the voice of the trumpet waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice.나팔 소리가 점점 더 커지자 모세가 말하니, 하나님께서 음성으로 그에게 대답하셨다.
20 Yahweh came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain. Yahweh called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.And Jehovah came down upon mount Sinai, to the top of the mount: and Jehovah called Moses to the top of the mount; and Moses went up.여호와께서 시내 산 곧 그 산꼭대기로 내려오셨다. 여호와께서 모세를 산꼭대기로 부르시니 모세가 올라갔다.
21 Yahweh said to Moses, “ Go down, warn the people, lest they break through to Yahweh to gaze, and many of them perish.And Jehovah said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto Jehovah to gaze, and many of them perish.여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "내려가서 백성에게 경고하여라. 그들이 여호와를 보려고 경계를 넘어 들어와 그 가운데 많은 사람이 죽지 않게 하여라.
22 Let the priests also, who come near to Yahweh, sanctify themselves, lest Yahweh break out on them.”And let the priests also, that come near to Jehovah, sanctify themselves, lest Jehovah break forth upon them.여호와께 가까이 나아오는 제사장들도 스스로 거룩하게 하여라. 여호와가 그들을 치지 않게 하여라."
23 Moses said to Yahweh, “ The people can’t come up to Mount Sinai, for you warned us, saying, ‘ Set bounds around the mountain, and sanctify it.’”And Moses said unto Jehovah, The people cannot come up to mount Sinai: for thou didst charge us, saying, Set bounds about the mount, and sanctify it.모세가 여호와께 아뢰었다. "백성이 시내 산에 올라올 수 없습니다. 주께서 우리에게 '산 둘레에 경계를 정하고 그 산을 거룩하게 하라'고 경고하셨기 때문입니다."
24 Yahweh said to him, “ Go down! You shall bring Aaron up with you, but don’t let the priests and the people break through to come up to Yahweh, lest he break out against them.”And Jehovah said unto him, Go, get thee down; and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto Jehovah, lest he break forth upon them.여호와께서 그에게 말씀하셨다. "내려가서 아론을 데리고 올라오너라. 다만 제사장들과 백성은 경계를 넘어 여호와께로 올라오지 못하게 하여라. 그렇지 않으면 그가 그들을 칠 것이다."
25 So Moses went down to the people, and told them.So Moses went down unto the people, and told them.그래서 모세가 백성에게로 내려가 그들에게 일러 주었다.
