Exodus 22장

1 “If a man steals an ox or a sheep, and kills it or sells it, he shall pay five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall pay five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.누구든지 소나 양을 훔쳐서 그것을 잡거나 팔면, 소 한 마리에는 소 다섯 마리로, 양 한 마리에는 양 네 마리로 갚아야 한다.

2 If the thief is found breaking in, and is struck so that he dies, there shall be no guilt of bloodshed for him.If the thief be found breaking in, and be smitten so that he dieth, there shall be no bloodguiltiness for him.도둑이 남의 집을 부수고 들어오다가 들켜서 맞아 죽으면, 그를 죽인 사람에게는 피를 흘린 죄가 없다.

3 If the sun has risen on him, he is guilty of bloodshed. He shall make restitution. If he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be bloodguiltiness for him; he shall make restitution: if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.그러나 해가 이미 떠오른 뒤라면 그를 죽인 사람에게 피를 흘린 죄가 있다. 도둑은 훔친 것을 반드시 갚아야 하며, 갚을 것이 없으면 자기가 훔친 값으로 종으로 팔려야 한다.

4 If the stolen property is found in his hand alive, whether it is ox, donkey, or sheep, he shall pay double.If the theft be found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep, he shall pay double.훔친 것이 소든 나귀든 양이든 그의 손에 산 채로 발견되면, 그는 두 배로 갚아야 한다.

5 “ If a man causes a field or vineyard to be eaten by letting his animal loose, and it grazes in another man’s field, he shall make restitution from the best of his own field, and from the best of his own vineyard.If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall let his beast loose, and it feed in another man’s field; of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard, shall he make restitution.누구든지 밭이나 포도원의 곡식을 뜯어 먹게 하거나 자기 짐승을 풀어 놓아 남의 밭에서 풀을 뜯게 하면, 자기 밭과 포도원에서 가장 좋은 것으로 갚아야 한다.

6 “ If fire breaks out, and catches in thorns so that the shocks of grain, or the standing grain, or the field are consumed; he who kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.If fire break out, and catch in thorns, so that the shocks of grain, or the standing grain, or the field are consumed; he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.불이 나서 가시덤불에 옮겨 붙어 쌓아 둔 곡식 단이나 베지 않은 곡식이나 밭을 태우면, 불을 낸 사람이 반드시 갚아야 한다.

7 “If a man delivers to his neighbor money or stuff to keep, and it is stolen out of the man’s house, if the thief is found, he shall pay double.If a man shall deliver unto his neighbor money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man’s house; if the thief be found, he shall pay double.누구든지 자기 이웃에게 돈이나 물건을 맡겨 보관하게 했는데 그것을 그 집에서 도둑맞았을 경우, 도둑이 잡히면 도둑이 두 배로 갚아야 한다.

8 If the thief isn’t found, then the master of the house shall come near to God, to find out whether or not he has put his hand on his neighbor’s goods.If the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall come near unto God, to see whether he have not put his hand unto his neighbor’s goods.도둑이 잡히지 않으면, 그 집 주인은 하나님 앞에 나아가 자기가 이웃의 물건에 손을 댔는지를 가려야 한다.

9 For every matter of trespass, whether it is for ox, for donkey, for sheep, for clothing, or for any kind of lost thing, about which one says, ‘ This is mine,’ the cause of both parties shall come before God. He whom God condemns shall pay double to his neighbor.For every matter of trespass, whether it be for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing, whereof one saith, This is it, the cause of both parties shall come before God; he whom God shall condemn shall pay double unto his neighbor.소든 나귀든 양이든 옷이든 그 어떤 잃어버린 물건이든, "이것은 내 것이다" 하고 다투는 모든 시비는 양쪽 모두가 하나님 앞에 나아가야 한다. 하나님께서 잘못이라고 정하시는 사람은 이웃에게 두 배로 갚아야 한다.

10 “ If a man delivers to his neighbor a donkey, an ox, a sheep, or any animal to keep, and it dies or is injured, or driven away, no man seeing it;If a man deliver unto his neighbor an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep; and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, no man seeing it:누구든지 나귀나 소나 양이나 그 밖의 어떤 짐승을 자기 이웃에게 맡겨 보관하게 했는데 그것이 죽거나 다치거나 끌려가도 본 사람이 없을 경우,

11 the oath of Yahweh shall be between them both, he has not put his hand on his neighbor’s goods; and its owner shall accept it, and he shall not make restitution.the oath of Jehovah shall be between them both, whether he hath not put his hand unto his neighbor’s goods; and the owner thereof shall accept it, and he shall not make restitution.두 사람 사이에 여호와의 이름으로 맹세하여 맡은 사람이 이웃의 물건에 손을 대지 않았음을 밝힌다. 그러면 그 주인은 이를 받아들이고, 맡은 사람은 갚지 않아도 된다.

12 But if it is stolen from him, the one who stole shall make restitution to its owner.But if it be stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto the owner thereof.그러나 그 짐승이 맡은 사람에게서 도둑맞았다면, 그는 주인에게 갚아야 한다.

13 If it is torn in pieces, let him bring it for evidence. He shall not make good that which was torn.If it be torn in pieces, let him bring it for witness: he shall not make good that which was torn.만일 그 짐승이 들짐승에게 찢겨 죽었다면 그 증거를 가져와야 하며, 그렇게 하면 찢긴 것에 대해서는 갚지 않아도 된다.

14 “ If a man borrows anything of his neighbor’s, and it is injured, or dies, its owner not being with it, he shall surely make restitution.And if a man borrow aught of his neighbor, and it be hurt, or die, the owner thereof not being with it, he shall surely make restitution.누구든지 이웃에게서 무엇을 빌렸다가 주인이 함께 있지 않은 사이에 그것이 다치거나 죽으면, 빌린 사람이 반드시 갚아야 한다.

15 If its owner is with it, he shall not make it good. If it is a leased thing, it came for its lease.If the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make it good: if it be a hired thing, it came for its hire.그러나 주인이 함께 있었다면 갚지 않아도 된다. 만일 그것이 삯을 주고 빌린 것이라면, 그 삯으로 그 손해를 메운 것이다.

16 “If a man entices a virgin who isn’t pledged to be married, and lies with her, he shall surely pay a dowry for her to be his wife.And if a man entice a virgin that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely pay a dowry for her to be his wife.누구든지 약혼하지 않은 처녀를 꾀어 그와 동침하면, 반드시 신붓값을 치르고 그 여자를 아내로 맞아야 한다.

17 If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.그러나 그 여자의 아버지가 딸을 그에게 주기를 한사코 거절하면, 그는 처녀의 신붓값에 해당하는 돈을 치러야 한다.

18 “ You shall not allow a sorceress to live.Thou shalt not suffer a sorceress to live.너는 무당을 살려 두지 말아라.

19 “Whoever has sex with an animal shall surely be put to death.Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death.짐승과 동침하는 자는 반드시 죽여야 한다.

20 “ He who sacrifices to any god, except to Yahweh only, shall be utterly destroyed.He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto Jehovah only, shall be utterly destroyed.여호와 한 분 외에 다른 신에게 제사를 드리는 자는 반드시 진멸해야 한다.

21 “ You shall not wrong an alien or oppress him, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt.And a sojourner shalt thou not wrong, neither shalt thou oppress him: for ye were sojourners in the land of Egypt.너는 나그네를 학대하거나 억압하지 말아라. 너희도 이집트 땅에서 나그네였기 때문이다.

22 “ You shall not take advantage of any widow or fatherless child.Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child.너는 어떤 과부나 고아도 괴롭히지 말아라.

23 If you take advantage of them at all, and they cry at all to me, I will surely hear their cry;If thou afflict them at all, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry;네가 그들을 조금이라도 괴롭혀서 그들이 내게 부르짖으면, 나는 반드시 그 부르짖음을 들을 것이다.

24 and my wrath will grow hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.and my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.그러면 내 진노가 불같이 타올라, 내가 칼로 너희를 죽일 것이다. 그러면 너희 아내들은 과부가 되고 너희 자녀들은 고아가 될 것이다.

25 “If you lend money to any of my people with you who is poor, you shall not be to him as a creditor. You shall not charge him interest.If thou lend money to any of my people with thee that is poor, thou shalt not be to him as a creditor; neither shall ye lay upon him interest.네가 내 백성 가운데 가난한 사람에게 돈을 빌려 주거든, 그에게 빚쟁이처럼 굴지 말고 이자를 받지도 말아라.

26 If you take your neighbor’s garment as collateral, you shall restore it to him before the sun goes down,If thou at all take thy neighbor’s garment to pledge, thou shalt restore it unto him before the sun goeth down:네가 이웃의 겉옷을 담보로 잡거든, 해가 지기 전에 그에게 돌려주어라.

27 for that is his only covering, it is his garment for his skin. What would he sleep in? It will happen, when he cries to me, that I will hear, for I am gracious.for that is his only covering, it is his garment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.그것은 그의 유일한 덮을 것이요, 그의 몸을 가릴 옷이기 때문이다. 그가 무엇을 덮고 자겠느냐? 그가 내게 부르짖으면 내가 들을 것이니, 나는 자비로운 자이기 때문이다.

28 “ You shall not blaspheme God, nor curse a ruler of your people.Thou shalt not revile God, nor curse a ruler of thy people.너는 하나님을 모독하지 말고, 네 백성의 지도자를 저주하지 말아라.

29 “ You shall not delay to offer from your harvest and from the outflow of your presses. “ You shall give the firstborn of your sons to me.Thou shalt not delay to offer of thy harvest, and of the outflow of thy presses. The first-born of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.너는 네 수확물과 네 포도즙 짜는 틀에서 나는 것을 바치기를 미루지 말아라. 네 아들들 가운데 맏아들을 내게 바쳐라.

30 You shall do likewise with your cattle and with your sheep. It shall be with its mother seven days, then on the eighth day you shall give it to me.Likewise shalt thou do with thine oxen, and with thy sheep: seven days it shall be with its dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it me.네 소와 양도 그와 같이 하여라. 이레 동안은 어미와 함께 두었다가 여드레째 되는 날에 내게 바쳐라.

31 “You shall be holy men to me, therefore you shall not eat any meat that is torn by animals in the field. You shall cast it to the dogs.And ye shall be holy men unto me: therefore ye shall not eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.너희는 내게 거룩한 사람이 되어야 한다. 그러므로 너희는 들에서 짐승에게 찢긴 고기를 먹지 말고 개에게 던져 주어라.
