1 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.
2 “ Avenge the children of Israel on the Midianites. Afterward you shall be gathered to your people.”Avenge the children of Israel of the Midianites: afterward shalt thou be gathered unto thy people."미디안 사람들에게 이스라엘 자손의 원수를 갚아라. 그 후에 너는 네 백성에게로 돌아가게 될 것이다."
3 Moses spoke to the people, saying, “ Arm men from among you for war, that they may go against Midian, to execute Yahweh’s vengeance on Midian.And Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm ye men from among you for the war, that they may go against Midian, to execute Jehovah’s vengeance on Midian.그래서 모세가 백성에게 말하였다. "너희 가운데서 남자들을 무장시켜 전쟁에 나가게 하라. 그들이 미디안을 치러 나가 미디안에게 여호와의 보복을 행하게 하라.
4 You shall send one thousand out of every tribe, throughout all the tribes of Israel, to the war.”Of every tribe a thousand, throughout all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send to the war.이스라엘 모든 지파에서 각 지파마다 천 명씩 전쟁에 보내라."
5 So there were delivered, out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand from every tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.So there were delivered, out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand of every tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.그리하여 이스라엘의 수많은 사람 가운데서 각 지파마다 천 명씩, 모두 일만 이천 명이 전쟁을 위해 무장하고 동원되었다.
6 Moses sent them, one thousand of every tribe, to the war with Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war, with the vessels of the sanctuary and the trumpets for the alarm in his hand.And Moses sent them, a thousand of every tribe, to the war, them and Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war, with the vessels of the sanctuary and the trumpets for the alarm in his hand.모세가 각 지파에서 천 명씩 전쟁에 보내었는데, 그들과 함께 제사장 엘르아살의 아들 비느하스도 보내었다. 비느하스는 성소의 기구들과 신호용 나팔을 손에 들고 전쟁에 나갔다.
7 They fought against Midian, as Yahweh commanded Moses. They killed every male.And they warred against Midian, as Jehovah commanded Moses; and they slew every male.그들은 여호와께서 모세에게 명령하신 대로 미디안과 싸워 남자들을 다 죽였다.
8 They killed the kings of Midian with the rest of their slain: Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian. They also killed Balaam the son of Beor with the sword.And they slew the kings of Midian with the rest of their slain: Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword.그들이 죽인 자들 가운데에는 미디안의 왕들도 있었으니, 곧 에위와 레겜과 술과 후르와 레바, 이렇게 미디안의 다섯 왕이었다. 또한 브올의 아들 발람도 칼로 죽였다.
9 The children of Israel took the women of Midian captive with their little ones; and all their livestock, all their flocks, and all their goods, they took as plunder.And the children of Israel took captive the women of Midian and their little ones; and all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods, they took for a prey.이스라엘 자손은 미디안의 여자들과 그 어린아이들을 사로잡고, 그들의 모든 가축과 모든 양 떼와 모든 재물을 전리품으로 빼앗았다.
10 All their cities in the places in which they lived, and all their encampments, they burned with fire.And all their cities in the places wherein they dwelt, and all their encampments, they burnt with fire.또 그들이 살던 모든 성읍과 모든 진영을 불로 태웠다.
11 They took all the captives, and all the plunder, both of man and of animal.And they took all the spoil, and all the prey, both of man and of beast.그들은 사람이든 짐승이든 모든 노략한 것과 모든 빼앗은 것을 다 가져왔다.
12 They brought the captives with the prey and the plunder, to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the congregation of the children of Israel, to the camp at the plains of Moab, which are by the Jordan at Jericho.And they brought the captives, and the prey, and the spoil, unto Moses, and unto Eleazar the priest, and unto the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the camp at the plains of Moab, which are by the Jordan at Jericho.그들은 사로잡은 사람들과 빼앗은 짐승과 노략한 물건을, 여리고 맞은편 요단 강 가에 있는 모압 평지의 진영에 머물던 모세와 제사장 엘르아살과 이스라엘 자손의 회중에게로 가져왔다.
13 Moses and Eleazar the priest, with all the princes of the congregation, went out to meet them outside of the camp.And Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and all the princes of the congregation, went forth to meet them without the camp.모세와 제사장 엘르아살과 회중의 모든 지도자가 진영 밖으로 나가 그들을 맞이하였다.
14 Moses was angry with the officers of the army, the captains of thousands and the captains of hundreds, who came from the service of the war.And Moses was wroth with the officers of the host, the captains of thousands and the captains of hundreds, who came from the service of the war.모세는 전쟁에서 돌아온 군대의 지휘관들, 곧 천부장들과 백부장들에게 진노하였다.
15 Moses said to them, “ Have you saved all the women alive?And Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive?모세가 그들에게 말하였다. "너희가 어찌하여 여자들을 다 살려 두었느냐?
16 Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against Yahweh in the matter of Peor, and so the plague was among the congregation of Yahweh.Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against Jehovah in the matter of Peor, and so the plague was among the congregation of Jehovah.보라, 바로 이 여자들이 발람의 꾀를 따라 브올의 일로 이스라엘 자손이 여호와께 범죄하게 하였고, 그로 인해 여호와의 회중 가운데 재앙이 임하였다.
17 Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man by lying with him.Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.그러므로 이제 어린아이들 가운데 남자아이는 다 죽이고, 남자와 동침하여 사내를 안 여자도 다 죽여라.
18 But all the girls, who have not known man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.But all the women-children, that have not known man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.그러나 남자와 동침한 적이 없는 여자아이들은 너희를 위하여 살려 두어라.
19 “ Encamp outside of the camp for seven days. Whoever has killed any person, and whoever has touched any slain, purify yourselves on the third day and on the seventh day, you and your captives.And encamp ye without the camp seven days: whosoever hath killed any person, and whosoever hath touched any slain, purify yourselves on the third day and on the seventh day, ye and your captives.너희는 진영 밖에서 이레 동안 머물러라. 사람을 죽인 자나 죽임당한 자를 만진 자는 누구든지, 너희와 너희가 사로잡은 자들이 셋째 날과 일곱째 날에 스스로를 정결하게 하라.
20 You shall purify every garment, and all that is made of skin, and all work of goats’ hair, and all things made of wood.”And as to every garment, and all that is made of skin, and all work of goats’ hair, and all things made of wood, ye shall purify yourselves.모든 옷과 가죽으로 만든 모든 것과 염소 털로 만든 모든 것과 나무로 만든 모든 것도 너희가 정결하게 하라."
21 Eleazar the priest said to the men of war who went to the battle, “ This is the statute of the law which Yahweh has commanded Moses.And Eleazar the priest said unto the men of war that went to the battle, This is the statute of the law which Jehovah hath commanded Moses:제사장 엘르아살이 전쟁에 나갔던 군인들에게 말하였다. "이것은 여호와께서 모세에게 명령하신 율법의 규례다.
22 However the gold, and the silver, the bronze, the iron, the tin, and the lead,howbeit the gold, and the silver, the brass, the iron, the tin, and the lead,금과 은과 놋과 철과 주석과 납,
23 everything that may withstand the fire, you shall make to go through the fire, and it shall be clean; nevertheless it shall be purified with the water for impurity. All that doesn’t withstand the fire you shall make to go through the water.everything that may abide the fire, ye shall make to go through the fire, and it shall be clean; nevertheless it shall be purified with the water for impurity: and all that abideth not the fire ye shall make to go through the water.곧 불을 견디는 모든 것은 불을 통과하게 하라. 그러면 그것이 깨끗해질 것이다. 그러나 그것도 정결하게 하는 물로 정결하게 해야 한다. 불을 견디지 못하는 모든 것은 물을 통과하게 하라.
24 You shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and you shall be clean. Afterward you shall come into the camp.”And ye shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and ye shall be clean; and afterward ye shall come into the camp.너희는 일곱째 날에 옷을 빨아야 깨끗해질 것이다. 그 후에야 진영으로 들어올 수 있다."
25 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.
26 “ Count the plunder that was taken, both of man and of animal, you, and Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the fathers’ households of the congregation;Take the sum of the prey that was taken, both of man and of beast, thou, and Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the fathers’ houses of the congregation;"너와 제사장 엘르아살과 회중의 각 조상 집안 우두머리들은, 사람이든 짐승이든 사로잡아 온 것의 총수를 세어라.
27 and divide the plunder into two parts: between the men skilled in war, who went out to battle, and all the congregation.and divide the prey into two parts: between the men skilled in war, that went out to battle, and all the congregation.그리고 그 노략한 것을 둘로 나누어, 전쟁에 나갔던 능숙한 군인들과 온 회중에게 나누어라.
28 Levy a tribute to Yahweh of the men of war who went out to battle: one soul of five hundred; of the persons, of the cattle, of the donkeys, and of the flocks.And levy a tribute unto Jehovah of the men of war that went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, both of the persons, and of the oxen, and of the asses, and of the flocks:전쟁에 나갔던 군인들에게서는, 사람과 소와 나귀와 양 떼 가운데서 오백 분의 일을 여호와께 바칠 세금으로 거두어라.
29 Take it from their half, and give it to Eleazar the priest, for Yahweh’s wave offering.take it of their half, and give it unto Eleazar the priest, for Jehovah’s heave-offering.그것을 그들의 몫의 절반에서 취하여, 여호와께 드리는 요제로 제사장 엘르아살에게 주어라.
30 Of the children of Israel’s half, you shall take one drawn out of every fifty, of the persons, of the cattle, of the donkeys, and of the flocks, of all the livestock, and give them to the Levites, who perform the duty of Yahweh’s tabernacle.”And of the children of Israel’s half, thou shalt take one drawn out of every fifty, of the persons, of the oxen, of the asses, and of the flocks, even of all the cattle, and give them unto the Levites, that keep the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah.그리고 이스라엘 자손의 몫의 절반에서는, 사람과 소와 나귀와 양 떼와 모든 가축 가운데서 오십 분의 일을 취하여, 여호와의 성막의 임무를 수행하는 레위 사람들에게 주어라."
31 Moses and Eleazar the priest did as Yahweh commanded Moses.And Moses and Eleazar the priest did as Jehovah commanded Moses.모세와 제사장 엘르아살은 여호와께서 모세에게 명령하신 대로 행하였다.
32 Now the plunder, over and above the booty which the men of war took, was six hundred seventy-five thousand sheep,Now the prey, over and above the booty which the men of war took, was six hundred thousand and seventy thousand and five thousand sheep,군인들이 노략한 것 외에 사로잡아 온 것은 양이 육십칠만 오천 마리요,
33 seventy-two thousand head of cattle,and threescore and twelve thousand oxen,소가 칠만 이천 마리요,
34 sixty-one thousand donkeys,and threescore and one thousand asses,나귀가 육만 천 마리요,
35 and thirty-two thousand persons in all, of the women who had not known man by lying with him.and thirty and two thousand persons in all, of the women that had not known man by lying with him.남자와 동침한 적이 없는 여자가 모두 삼만 이천 명이었다.
36 The half, which was the portion of those who went out to war, was in number three hundred thirty-seven thousand five hundred sheep;And the half, which was the portion of them that went out to war, was in number three hundred thousand and thirty thousand and seven thousand and five hundred sheep:전쟁에 나갔던 자들의 몫인 절반은 양이 삼십삼만 칠천 오백 마리였고,
37 and Yahweh’s tribute of the sheep was six hundred seventy-five.and Jehovah’s tribute of the sheep was six hundred and threescore and fifteen.그 가운데 여호와께 세금으로 바친 양은 육백칠십오 마리였다.
38 The cattle were thirty-six thousand, of which Yahweh’s tribute was seventy-two.And the oxen were thirty and six thousand; of which Jehovah’s tribute was threescore and twelve.소는 삼만 육천 마리였고, 그 가운데 여호와께 바친 세금은 칠십이 마리였다.
39 The donkeys were thirty thousand five hundred, of which Yahweh’s tribute was sixty-one.And the asses were thirty thousand and five hundred; of which Jehovah’s tribute was threescore and one.나귀는 삼만 오백 마리였고, 그 가운데 여호와께 바친 세금은 육십일 마리였다.
40 The persons were sixteen thousand, of whom Yahweh’s tribute was thirty-two persons.And the persons were sixteen thousand; of whom Jehovah’s tribute was thirty and two persons.사람은 만 육천 명이었고, 그 가운데 여호와께 바친 세금은 삼십이 명이었다.
41 Moses gave the tribute, which was Yahweh’s wave offering, to Eleazar the priest, as Yahweh commanded Moses.And Moses gave the tribute, which was Jehovah’s heave-offering, unto Eleazar the priest, as Jehovah commanded Moses.모세는 여호와의 요제로 바친 세금을, 여호와께서 모세에게 명령하신 대로 제사장 엘르아살에게 주었다.
42 Of the children of Israel’s half, which Moses divided off from the men who foughtAnd of the children of Israel’s half, which Moses divided off from the men that warred모세가 전쟁에 나갔던 군인들에게서 떼어 낸, 이스라엘 자손의 몫인 절반은—
43 ( now the congregation’s half was three hundred thirty-seven thousand five hundred sheep,( now the congregation’s half was three hundred thousand and thirty thousand, seven thousand and five hundred sheep,곧 회중의 몫인 절반은 양이 삼십삼만 칠천 오백 마리요,
44 thirty-six thousand head of cattle,and thirty and six thousand oxen,소가 삼만 육천 마리요,
45 thirty thousand five hundred donkeys,and thirty thousand and five hundred asses,나귀가 삼만 오백 마리요,
46 and sixteen thousand persons ),and sixteen thousand persons ),사람이 만 육천 명이었다—
47 even of the children of Israel’s half, Moses took one drawn out of every fifty, both of man and of animal, and gave them to the Levites, who performed the duty of Yahweh’s tabernacle, as Yahweh commanded Moses.even of the children of Israel’s half, Moses took one drawn out of every fifty, both of man and of beast, and gave them unto the Levites, that kept the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah; as Jehovah commanded Moses.그 이스라엘 자손의 몫인 절반에서, 모세는 사람이든 짐승이든 오십 분의 일을 취하여, 여호와의 성막의 임무를 수행하는 레위 사람들에게 주었으니, 여호와께서 모세에게 명령하신 그대로였다.
48 The officers who were over the thousands of the army, the captains of thousands, and the captains of hundreds, came near to Moses.And the officers that were over the thousands of the host, the captains of thousands, and the captains of hundreds, came near unto Moses;그 군대의 천부장들과 백부장들, 곧 지휘관들이 모세에게 가까이 나아와
49 They said to Moses, “ Your servants have taken the sum of the men of war who are under our command, and there lacks not one man of us.and they said unto Moses, Thy servants have taken the sum of the men of war that are under our charge, and there lacketh not one man of us.모세에게 말하였다. "당신의 종들이 우리가 거느린 군인들의 수를 세어 보았는데, 우리 가운데 한 사람도 빠진 자가 없습니다.
50 We have brought Yahweh’s offering, what every man found: gold ornaments, armlets, bracelets, signet rings, earrings, and necklaces, to make atonement for our souls before Yahweh.”And we have brought Jehovah’s oblation, what every man hath gotten, of jewels of gold, ankle-chains, and bracelets, signet-rings, ear-rings, and armlets, to make atonement for our souls before Jehovah.그래서 우리는 각 사람이 얻은 금 패물, 곧 팔찌와 손목 고리와 인장 반지와 귀고리와 목걸이를 여호와께 예물로 가져왔으니, 이는 여호와 앞에서 우리 영혼을 위해 속죄하려는 것입니다."
51 Moses and Eleazar the priest took their gold, even all worked jewels.And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of them, even all wrought jewels.모세와 제사장 엘르아살이 그들에게서 그 금, 곧 정교하게 만든 모든 패물을 받았다.
52 All the gold of the wave offering that they offered up to Yahweh, of the captains of thousands, and of the captains of hundreds, was sixteen thousand seven hundred fifty shekels.And all the gold of the heave-offering that they offered up to Jehovah, of the captains of thousands, and of the captains of hundreds, was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels.천부장들과 백부장들이 여호와께 드린 요제의 금은 모두 만 육천 칠백 오십 세겔이었다.
53 The men of war had taken booty, every man for himself.( For the men of war had taken booty, every man for himself.)(군인들은 각자 자기를 위하여 전리품을 차지하였다.)
54 Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the Tent of Meeting for a memorial for the children of Israel before Yahweh.And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the tent of meeting, for a memorial for the children of Israel before Jehovah.모세와 제사장 엘르아살은 천부장들과 백부장들에게서 받은 금을 회막으로 가져갔으니, 이는 여호와 앞에서 이스라엘 자손을 위한 기념물이 되게 하려는 것이었다.
