1 The children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came into the wilderness of Zin in the first month. The people stayed in Kadesh. Miriam died there, and was buried there.And the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came into the wilderness of Zin in the first month: and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, and was buried there.이스라엘 자손 곧 온 회중이 첫째 달에 신 광야에 이르렀고, 백성은 가데스에 머물렀다. 거기서 미리암이 죽어 그곳에 묻혔다.
2 There was no water for the congregation; and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.And there was no water for the congregation: and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.회중에게 마실 물이 없으므로, 그들이 모세와 아론을 향해 한데 모여 들고일어났다.
3 The people quarreled with Moses, and spoke, saying, “ We wish that we had died when our brothers died before Yahweh!And the people strove with Moses, and spake, saying, Would that we had died when our brethren died before Jehovah!백성이 모세와 다투며 말하였다. "우리 형제들이 여호와 앞에서 죽을 때에 우리도 함께 죽었더라면 좋았을 것을!
4 Why have you brought Yahweh’s assembly into this wilderness, that we should die there, we and our animals?And why have ye brought the assembly of Jehovah into this wilderness, that we should die there, we and our beasts?어찌하여 당신들은 여호와의 회중을 이 광야로 이끌어 와서, 우리와 우리 가축을 여기서 죽게 하려 합니까?
5 Why have you made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in to this evil place? It is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.”And wherefore have ye made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in unto this evil place? it is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.어찌하여 당신들은 우리를 이집트에서 올라오게 하여, 이 나쁜 곳으로 데려왔습니까? 이곳은 씨를 뿌릴 데도, 무화과나무도, 포도나무도, 석류나무도 없고, 마실 물조차 없습니다."
6 Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the door of the Tent of Meeting, and fell on their faces. Yahweh’s glory appeared to them.And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly unto the door of the tent of meeting, and fell upon their faces: and the glory of Jehovah appeared unto them.모세와 아론이 회중 앞을 떠나 만남의 장막 문으로 가서 얼굴을 땅에 대고 엎드리니, 여호와의 영광이 그들에게 나타났다.
7 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.
8 “ Take the rod, and assemble the congregation, you, and Aaron your brother, and speak to the rock before their eyes, that it pour out its water. You shall bring water to them out of the rock; so you shall give the congregation and their livestock drink.”Take the rod, and assemble the congregation, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes, that it give forth its water; and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock; so thou shalt give the congregation and their cattle drink."그 지팡이를 잡고, 너와 네 형 아론은 회중을 모으고, 그들의 눈앞에서 그 바위에게 명하여 물을 내라고 하여라. 그러면 네가 그들을 위해 바위에서 물을 내어, 회중과 그들의 가축에게 마시게 하리라."
9 Moses took the rod from before Yahweh, as he commanded him.And Moses took the rod from before Jehovah, as he commanded him.모세가 여호와께서 명하신 대로 여호와 앞에서 그 지팡이를 잡았다.
10 Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said to them, “ Hear now, you rebels! Shall we bring water out of this rock for you?”And Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; shall we bring you forth water out of this rock?모세와 아론이 회중을 바위 앞에 모으고, 모세가 그들에게 말하였다. "이제 들으라, 너희 반역하는 자들아. 우리가 너희를 위해 이 바위에서 물을 내랴?"
11 Moses lifted up his hand, and struck the rock with his rod twice, and water came out abundantly. The congregation and their livestock drank.And Moses lifted up his hand, and smote the rock with his rod twice: and water came forth abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their cattle.모세가 손을 들어 그 지팡이로 바위를 두 번 치니, 물이 풍성히 솟아나서 회중과 그들의 가축이 마셨다.
12 Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron, “ Because you didn’t believe in me, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.”And Jehovah said unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed not in me, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.여호와께서 모세와 아론에게 말씀하셨다. "너희가 나를 믿지 아니하여 이스라엘 자손의 눈앞에서 나를 거룩하게 하지 아니하였으므로, 너희는 이 회중을 내가 그들에게 준 땅으로 인도해 들이지 못하리라."
13 These are the waters of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with Yahweh, and he was sanctified in them.These are the waters of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with Jehovah, and he was sanctified in them.이것이 므리바의 물이니, 이는 이스라엘 자손이 여호와와 다투었고 여호와께서 그들 가운데서 거룩하게 되셨기 때문이다.
14 Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom, saying: “ Your brother Israel says: You know all the travail that has happened to us;And Moses sent messengers from Kadesh unto the king of Edom, Thus saith thy brother Israel, Thou knowest all the travail that hath befallen us:모세가 가데스에서 에돔 왕에게 사신들을 보내며 말하였다. "당신의 형제 이스라엘이 이렇게 말합니다. 당신은 우리에게 닥친 모든 고난을 아십니다.
15 how our fathers went down into Egypt, and we lived in Egypt a long time. The Egyptians mistreated us and our fathers.how our fathers went down into Egypt, and we dwelt in Egypt a long time; and the Egyptians dealt ill with us, and our fathers:우리 조상들이 이집트로 내려가 우리가 이집트에서 오래 살았는데, 이집트 사람들이 우리와 우리 조상들을 학대하였습니다.
16 When we cried to Yahweh, he heard our voice, sent an angel, and brought us out of Egypt. Behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the edge of your border.and when we cried unto Jehovah, he heard our voice, and sent an angel, and brought us forth out of Egypt: and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of thy border.우리가 여호와께 부르짖었더니, 그분이 우리 목소리를 들으시고 천사를 보내어 우리를 이집트에서 이끌어 내셨습니다. 그리고 보십시오, 이제 우리가 당신의 경계 끝에 있는 성읍 가데스에 있습니다.
17 “ Please let us pass through your land. We will not pass through field or through vineyard, neither will we drink from the water of the wells. We will go along the king’s highway. We will not turn away to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed your border.”Let us pass, I pray thee, through thy land: we will not pass through field or through vineyard, neither will we drink of the water of the wells; we will go along the king’s highway; we will not turn aside to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed thy border.청하건대 우리가 당신의 땅을 지나가게 해 주십시오. 우리는 밭이나 포도원을 지나지 않고, 우물물도 마시지 않으며, 큰길로만 가겠습니다. 당신의 경계를 지날 때까지 오른쪽으로도 왼쪽으로도 벗어나지 않겠습니다."
18 Edom said to him, “ You shall not pass through me, lest I come out with the sword against you.”And Edom said unto him, Thou shalt not pass through me, lest I come out with the sword against thee.에돔이 그에게 말하였다. "너는 나를 지나가지 못한다. 그렇지 않으면 내가 칼을 들고 너를 치러 나가리라."
19 The children of Israel said to him, “ We will go up by the highway; and if we drink your water, I and my livestock, then I will give its price. Only let me, without doing anything else, pass through on my feet.”And the children of Israel said unto him, We will go up by the highway; and if we drink of thy water, I and my cattle, then will I give the price thereof: let me only, without doing anything else, pass through on my feet.이스라엘 자손이 그에게 말하였다. "우리는 큰길로 올라가겠습니다. 만일 나와 내 가축이 당신의 물을 마시면 그 값을 치르겠습니다. 다른 일은 하지 않고, 다만 걸어서 지나가게만 해 주십시오."
20 He said, “ You shall not pass through.” Edom came out against him with many people, and with a strong hand.And he said, Thou shalt not pass through. And Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand.그가 말하였다. "너는 지나가지 못한다." 그리고 에돔이 많은 백성과 강한 손을 거느리고 그를 치러 나왔다.
21 Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border, so Israel turned away from him.Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border: wherefore Israel turned away from him.이렇게 에돔이 이스라엘에게 그 경계를 지나가도록 허락하기를 거절하니, 이스라엘이 그에게서 돌이켜 떠났다.
22 They traveled from Kadesh, and the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came to Mount Hor.And they journeyed from Kadesh: and the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came unto mount Hor.그들이 가데스에서 길을 떠나, 이스라엘 자손 곧 온 회중이 호르 산에 이르렀다.
23 Yahweh spoke to Moses and Aaron in Mount Hor, by the border of the land of Edom, saying,And Jehovah spake unto Moses and Aaron in mount Hor, by the border of the land of Edom, saying,여호와께서 에돔 땅 경계에 있는 호르 산에서 모세와 아론에게 말씀하셨다.
24 “Aaron shall be gathered to his people; for he shall not enter into the land which I have given to the children of Israel, because you rebelled against my word at the waters of Meribah.Aaron shall be gathered unto his people; for he shall not enter into the land which I have given unto the children of Israel, because ye rebelled against my word at the waters of Meribah."아론은 그 조상들에게로 돌아가리라. 너희가 므리바의 물에서 내 말을 거역하였으므로, 그는 내가 이스라엘 자손에게 준 땅에 들어가지 못하리라.
25 Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up to Mount Hor;Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up unto mount Hor;너는 아론과 그의 아들 엘르아살을 데리고 호르 산으로 올라가서,
26 and strip Aaron of his garments, and put them on Eleazar his son. Aaron shall be gathered, and shall die there.”and strip Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son: and Aaron shall be gathered unto his people, and shall die there.아론의 옷을 벗겨 그의 아들 엘르아살에게 입혀라. 아론은 거기서 그 조상들에게로 돌아가 죽으리라."
27 Moses did as Yahweh commanded. They went up onto Mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation.And Moses did as Jehovah commanded: and they went up into mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation.모세가 여호와께서 명하신 대로 행하여, 온 회중이 보는 앞에서 그들이 호르 산으로 올라갔다.
28 Moses stripped Aaron of his garments, and put them on Eleazar his son. Aaron died there on the top of the mountain, and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain.And Moses stripped Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son; and Aaron died there on the top of the mount: and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mount.모세가 아론의 옷을 벗겨 그의 아들 엘르아살에게 입히니, 아론이 거기 산꼭대기에서 죽었다. 그리고 모세와 엘르아살이 산에서 내려왔다.
29 When all the congregation saw that Aaron was dead, they wept for Aaron thirty days, even all the house of Israel.And when all the congregation saw that Aaron was dead, they wept for Aaron thirty days, even all the house of Israel.온 회중이 아론이 죽은 것을 보고, 이스라엘 온 집이 아론을 위하여 삼십 일 동안 슬피 울었다.
