1 When Balaam saw that it pleased Yahweh to bless Israel, he didn’t go, as at the other times, to use divination, but he set his face toward the wilderness.And when Balaam saw that it pleased Jehovah to bless Israel, he went not, as at the other times, to meet with enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.발람은 이스라엘을 축복하시는 것이 여호와를 기쁘게 하는 일임을 보고, 전처럼 점술을 행하러 가지 않고 광야 쪽으로 얼굴을 향했다.
2 Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel dwelling according to their tribes; and the Spirit of God came on him.And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel dwelling according to their tribes; and the Spirit of God came upon him.발람이 눈을 들어 보니 이스라엘이 그 지파대로 머물고 있었고, 하나님의 영이 그에게 임하셨다.
3 He took up his parable, and said, “ Balaam the son of Beor says, the man whose eyes are open says;And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor saith, And the man whose eye was closed saith;그가 자기 노래를 시작하며 말했다. "브올의 아들 발람이 말한다. 눈이 닫혔던 사람이 말한다.
4 he says, who hears the words of God, who sees the vision of the Almighty, falling down, and having his eyes open:He saith, who heareth the words of God, Who seeth the vision of the Almighty, Falling down, and having his eyes open:하나님의 말씀을 듣는 자, 전능자의 환상을 보는 자, 엎드려 있으나 눈이 열린 자가 말한다.
5 How goodly are your tents, Jacob, and your dwellings, Israel!How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, Thy tabernacles, O Israel!야곱아, 네 장막이 어찌 그리 아름다운가. 이스라엘아, 네 거처가 어찌 그리 아름다운가!
6 As valleys they are spread out, as gardens by the riverside, as aloes which Yahweh has planted, as cedar trees beside the waters.As valleys are they spread forth, As gardens by the river-side, As lign-aloes which Jehovah hath planted, As cedar-trees beside the waters.그것은 골짜기처럼 펼쳐져 있고, 강가의 동산 같으며, 여호와께서 심으신 침향나무 같고, 물가의 백향목 같구나.
7 Water shall flow from his buckets. His seed shall be in many waters. His king shall be higher than Agag. His kingdom shall be exalted.Water shall flow from his buckets, And his seed shall be in many waters, And his king shall be higher than Agag, And his kingdom shall be exalted.그의 물통에서 물이 흘러넘치고, 그의 씨는 많은 물가에 있으리라. 그의 왕은 아각보다 높아지고, 그의 나라는 높이 들리리라.
8 God brings him out of Egypt. He has as it were the strength of the wild ox. He shall consume the nations his adversaries, shall break their bones in pieces, and pierce them with his arrows.God bringeth him forth out of Egypt; He hath as it were the strength of the wild-ox: He shall eat up the nations his adversaries, And shall break their bones in pieces, And smite them through with his arrows.하나님이 그를 이집트에서 인도해 내셨으니, 그에게는 들소의 힘과 같은 것이 있어, 그를 대적하는 민족들을 삼키고, 그들의 뼈를 부수며, 화살로 꿰뚫으리라.
9 He couched, he lay down as a lion, as a lioness; who shall rouse him up? Everyone who blesses you is blessed. Everyone who curses you is cursed.”He couched, he lay down as a lion, And as a lioness; who shall rouse him up? Blessed be every one that blesseth thee, And cursed be every one that curseth thee.그가 사자처럼, 암사자처럼 몸을 웅크려 누웠으니, 누가 그를 일으키겠는가? 너를 축복하는 자는 복을 받고, 너를 저주하는 자는 저주를 받으리라."
10 Balak’s anger burned against Balaam, and he struck his hands together. Balak said to Balaam, “ I called you to curse my enemies, and, behold, you have altogether blessed them these three times.And Balak’s anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together; and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times.발락이 발람에게 진노하여 손뼉을 치며 발람에게 말했다. "내가 너를 불러 내 원수들을 저주하라 했거늘, 보라, 네가 이 세 번이나 그들을 온전히 축복하였구나.
11 Therefore, flee to your place, now! I thought to promote you to great honor; but, behold, Yahweh has kept you back from honor.”Therefore now flee thou to thy place: I thought to promote thee unto great honor; but, lo, Jehovah hath kept thee back from honor.그러니 이제 네 곳으로 도망쳐라! 내가 너를 크게 높여 영예롭게 하려 했으나, 보라, 여호와께서 너를 영예에서 막으셨다."
12 Balaam said to Balak, “Didn’t I also tell your messengers whom you sent to me, saying,And Balaam said unto Balak, Spake I not also to thy messengers that thou sentest unto me, saying,발람이 발락에게 말했다. "내가 당신이 내게 보낸 사신들에게도 이렇게 말하지 않았습니까?
13 ‘If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I can’t go beyond Yahweh’s word, to do either good or bad from my own mind. I will say what Yahweh says’?If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of Jehovah, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; what Jehovah speaketh, that will I speak?'발락이 자기 집을 가득 채운 은과 금을 내게 준다 해도, 나는 여호와의 말씀을 넘어서서 선이든 악이든 내 마음대로 행할 수 없습니다. 여호와께서 말씀하시는 것만 내가 말하겠습니다' 라고 말입니다.
14 Now, behold, I go to my people. Come, I will inform you what this people shall do to your people in the latter days.”And now, behold, I go unto my people: come, and I will advertise thee what this people shall do to thy people in the latter days.이제 보십시오, 나는 내 백성에게로 돌아갑니다. 오십시오, 이 백성이 훗날 당신의 백성에게 어떻게 할지 내가 알려 드리겠습니다."
15 He took up his parable, and said, “ Balaam the son of Beor says, the man whose eyes are open says;And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor saith, And the man whose eye was closed saith;그가 자기 노래를 시작하며 말했다. "브올의 아들 발람이 말한다. 눈이 닫혔던 사람이 말한다.
16 he says, who hears the words of God, knows the knowledge of the Most High, and who sees the vision of the Almighty, falling down, and having his eyes open:He saith, who heareth the words of God, And knoweth the knowledge of the Most High, Who seeth the vision of the Almighty, Falling down, and having his eyes open:하나님의 말씀을 듣는 자, 지극히 높으신 분의 지식을 아는 자, 전능자의 환상을 보는 자, 엎드려 있으나 눈이 열린 자가 말한다.
17 I see him, but not now. I see him, but not near. A star will come out of Jacob. A scepter will rise out of Israel, and shall strike through the corners of Moab, and crush all the sons of Sheth.I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not nigh: There shall come forth a star out of Jacob, And a sceptre shall rise out of Israel, And shall smite through the corners of Moab, And break down all the sons of tumult.내가 그를 보나 지금은 아니며, 내가 그를 보나 가까이 있지는 않다. 한 별이 야곱에게서 나오고, 한 규(王의 지팡이)가 이스라엘에게서 일어나, 모압의 양쪽 변경을 치고 셋의 모든 자손을 무너뜨리리라.
18 Edom shall be a possession. Seir, his enemy, also shall be a possession, while Israel does valiantly.And Edom shall be a possession, Seir also shall be a possession, who were his enemies; While Israel doeth valiantly.에돔은 소유가 되고, 그의 원수인 세일도 소유가 되며, 이스라엘은 용맹히 행하리라.
19 Out of Jacob shall one have dominion, and shall destroy the remnant from the city.”And out of Jacob shall one have dominion, And shall destroy the remnant from the city.야곱에게서 한 사람이 나와 다스리고, 그 성읍에서 남은 자를 멸하리라."
20 He looked at Amalek, and took up his parable, and said, “ Amalek was the first of the nations, but his latter end shall come to destruction.”And he looked on Amalek, and took up his parable, and said, Amalek was the first of the nations; But his latter end shall come to destruction.그가 아말렉을 바라보고 자기 노래를 시작하며 말했다. "아말렉은 민족들 가운데 으뜸이었으나, 그 마지막은 멸망에 이르리라."
21 He looked at the Kenite, and took up his parable, and said, “ Your dwelling place is strong. Your nest is set in the rock.And he looked on the Kenite, and took up his parable, and said, Strong is thy dwelling-place, And thy nest is set in the rock.그가 겐 사람을 바라보고 자기 노래를 시작하며 말했다. "네 거처는 견고하고, 네 보금자리는 바위 위에 자리 잡았구나.
22 Nevertheless Kain shall be wasted, until Asshur carries you away captive.”Nevertheless Kain shall be wasted, Until Asshur shall carry thee away captive.그러나 가인은 황폐하게 되리니, 앗수르가 너를 사로잡아 갈 때까지니라."
23 He took up his parable, and said, “Alas, who shall live when God does this?And he took up his parable, and said, Alas, who shall live when God doeth this?그가 자기 노래를 시작하며 말했다. "슬프다, 하나님이 이 일을 행하실 때에 누가 살아남겠는가?
24 But ships shall come from the coast of Kittim. They shall afflict Asshur, and shall afflict Eber. He also shall come to destruction.”But ships shall come from the coast of Kittim, And they shall afflict Asshur, and shall afflict Eber; And he also shall come to destruction.그러나 깃딤 해안에서 배들이 와서 앗수르를 괴롭히고 에벨을 괴롭히리라. 그러나 그도 또한 멸망에 이르리라."
25 Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place; and Balak also went his way.And Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place; and Balak also went his way.발람이 일어나 자기 곳으로 돌아갔고, 발락도 자기 길로 갔다.
