1 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.
2 “ Send men, that they may spy out the land of Canaan, which I give to the children of Israel. Of every tribe of their fathers, you shall send a man, every one a prince among them.”Send thou men, that they may spy out the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a prince among them."사람들을 보내어 내가 이스라엘 자손에게 주려는 가나안 땅을 정탐하게 하여라. 그들의 조상의 각 지파에서 한 사람씩, 그들 가운데 지도자인 사람을 보내어라."
3 Moses sent them from the wilderness of Paran according to the commandment of Yahweh. All of them were men who were heads of the children of Israel.And Moses sent them from the wilderness of Paran according to the commandment of Jehovah: all of them men who were heads of the children of Israel.모세가 여호와의 명령을 따라 그들을 바란 광야에서 보냈는데, 그들은 모두 이스라엘 자손의 우두머리인 사람들이었다.
4 These were their names: Of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur.And these were their names: Of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur.그들의 이름은 이러하다. 르우벤 지파에서는 삭굴의 아들 삼무아,

6 Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.유다 지파에서는 여분네의 아들 갈렙,
7 Of the tribe of Issachar, Igal the son of Joseph.Of the tribe of Issachar, Igal the son of Joseph.잇사갈 지파에서는 요셉의 아들 이갈,

10 Of the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel the son of Sodi.Of the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel the son of Sodi.스불론 지파에서는 소디의 아들 갓디엘,
11 Of the tribe of Joseph, of the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi the son of Susi.Of the tribe of Joseph, namely, of the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi the son of Susi.요셉 지파, 곧 므낫세 지파에서는 수시의 아들 갓디,
12 Of the tribe of Dan, Ammiel the son of Gemalli.Of the tribe of Dan, Ammiel the son of Gemalli.단 지파에서는 그말리의 아들 암미엘,

16 These are the names of the men who Moses sent to spy out the land. Moses called Hoshea the son of Nun Joshua.These are the names of the men that Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Hoshea the son of Nun Joshua.이들이 그 땅을 정탐하라고 모세가 보낸 사람들의 이름이다. 모세는 눈의 아들 호세아를 여호수아라고 불렀다.
17 Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said to them, “ Go up this way by the South, and go up into the hill country.And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way by the South, and go up into the hill-country:모세가 그들을 보내어 가나안 땅을 정탐하게 하면서 그들에게 말하였다. "이 길로 남쪽을 거쳐 올라가 산지로 올라가서,
18 See the land, what it is; and the people who dwell therein, whether they are strong or weak, whether they are few or many;and see the land, what it is; and the people that dwell therein, whether they are strong or weak, whether they are few or many;그 땅이 어떠한지, 거기에 사는 백성이 강한지 약한지, 적은지 많은지 살펴보아라.
19 and what the land is that they dwell in, whether it is good or bad; and what cities they are that they dwell in, whether in camps, or in strongholds;and what the land is that they dwell in, whether it is good or bad; and what cities they are that they dwell in, whether in camps, or in strongholds;그들이 사는 땅이 좋은지 나쁜지, 그들이 사는 성읍들이 어떠한지, 진영을 이루고 사는지 요새 안에 사는지,
20 and what the land is, whether it is fertile or poor, whether there is wood therein, or not. Be courageous, and bring some of the fruit of the land.” Now the time was the time of the first-ripe grapes.and what the land is, whether it is fat or lean, whether there is wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the first-ripe grapes.또 그 땅이 기름진지 메마른지, 그곳에 나무가 있는지 없는지 살펴보아라. 용기를 내어 그 땅의 열매를 가져오너라." 그때는 처음 익은 포도가 날 무렵이었다.
21 So they went up, and spied out the land from the wilderness of Zin to Rehob, to the entrance of Hamath.So they went up, and spied out the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, to the entrance of Hamath.그래서 그들이 올라가 신 광야에서부터 하맛 어귀에 있는 르홉까지 그 땅을 정탐하였다.
22 They went up by the South, and came to Hebron; and Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were there. ( Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)And they went up by the South, and came unto Hebron; and Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were there. ( Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)그들이 남쪽을 거쳐 올라가 헤브론에 이르렀는데, 그곳에는 아낙 자손인 아히만과 세새와 달매가 있었다. (헤브론은 이집트의 소안보다 칠 년 앞서 세워진 곳이다.)
23 They came to the valley of Eshcol, and cut down from there a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bore it on a staff between two. They also brought some of the pomegranates and figs.And they came unto the valley of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it upon a staff between two; they brought also of the pomegranates, and of the figs.그들은 에스골 골짜기에 이르러 거기서 포도 한 송이가 달린 가지를 꺾어, 막대기에 꿰어 두 사람이 메었다. 또 석류와 무화과도 따 왔다.
24 That place was called the valley of Eshcol, because of the cluster which the children of Israel cut down from there.That place was called the valley of Eshcol, because of the cluster which the children of Israel cut down from thence.이스라엘 자손이 거기서 꺾은 포도송이 때문에 그곳을 에스골 골짜기라고 불렀다.
25 They returned from spying out the land at the end of forty days.And they returned from spying out the land at the end of forty days.그들은 사십 일 만에 그 땅을 정탐하고 돌아왔다.
26 They went and came to Moses, to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, to the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word to them and to all the congregation. They showed them the fruit of the land.And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land.그들은 돌아와 바란 광야의 가데스에 있는 모세와 아론과 이스라엘 자손의 온 회중에게 이르러, 그들과 온 회중에게 보고하고 그 땅의 열매를 보여 주었다.
27 They told him, and said, “We came to the land where you sent us. Surely it flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us; and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.그들이 모세에게 말하였다. "우리가 당신이 보낸 그 땅에 갔는데, 정말 그곳은 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅이었습니다. 이것이 그 땅의 열매입니다.
28 However, the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. Moreover, we saw the children of Anak there.Howbeit the people that dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.그러나 그 땅에 사는 백성은 강하고, 성읍들은 요새처럼 견고하며 매우 큽니다. 게다가 우리는 거기서 아낙 자손도 보았습니다.
29 Amalek dwells in the land of the South. The Hittite, the Jebusite, and the Amorite dwell in the hill country. The Canaanite dwells by the sea, and along the side of the Jordan.”Amalek dwelleth in the land of the South: and the Hittite, and the Jebusite, and the Amorite, dwell in the hill-country; and the Canaanite dwelleth by the sea, and along by the side of the Jordan.아말렉 사람은 남쪽 땅에 살고, 헷 사람과 여부스 사람과 아모리 사람은 산지에 살며, 가나안 사람은 바닷가와 요단 강 가에 삽니다."
30 Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, “Let’s go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it!”And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.갈렙이 모세 앞에서 백성을 진정시키며 말하였다. "우리가 곧 올라가서 그 땅을 차지합시다. 우리는 충분히 그들을 이길 수 있습니다."
31 But the men who went up with him said, “ We aren’t able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.”But the men that went up with him said, We are not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.그러나 그와 함께 올라갔던 사람들은 말하였다. "우리는 그 백성을 치러 올라갈 수 없습니다. 그들이 우리보다 강합니다."
32 They brought up an evil report of the land which they had spied out to the children of Israel, saying, “ The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that eats up its inhabitants; and all the people who we saw in it are men of great stature.And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had spied out unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of great stature.그러고는 그들이 정탐한 땅에 대하여 이스라엘 자손에게 나쁜 소문을 퍼뜨리며 말하였다. "우리가 두루 다니며 정탐한 그 땅은 그 주민을 삼키는 땅이고, 우리가 거기서 본 백성은 모두 키가 큰 사람들이었다.
33 There we saw the Nephilim, the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim.
