1 Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of livestock. They saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead. Behold, the place was a place for livestock.Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of cattle: and when they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, that, behold, the place was a place for cattle;르우벤 자손과 갓 자손에게는 가축이 아주 많았습니다. 그들이 야셀 땅과 길르앗 땅을 보니, 그곳이 가축을 치기에 알맞은 땅이었습니다.
2 Then the children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spoke to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the princes of the congregation, saying,the children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spake unto Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and unto the princes of the congregation, saying,그래서 갓 자손과 르우벤 자손이 와서 모세와 엘르아살 제사장과 회중의 지도자들에게 말했습니다.
3 “ Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo, and Beon,Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Sebam, and Nebo, and Beon,"아다롯과 디본과 야셀과 니므라와 헤스본과 엘르알레와 스밤과 느보와 브온,
4 the land which Yahweh struck before the congregation of Israel, is a land for livestock; and your servants have livestock.”the land which Jehovah smote before the congregation of Israel, is a land for cattle; and thy servants have cattle.곧 여호와께서 이스라엘 회중 앞에서 치신 이 땅은 가축을 치기에 알맞은 땅입니다. 그런데 당신의 종들에게는 가축이 있습니다."
5 They said, “If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants for a possession. Don’t bring us over the Jordan.”And they said, If we have found favor in thy sight, let this land be given unto thy servants for a possession; bring us not over the Jordan.그들이 또 말했습니다. "우리가 당신께 은혜를 입었다면, 이 땅을 당신의 종들에게 소유로 주시고, 우리를 요단강 건너편으로 데려가지 마십시오."
6 Moses said to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, “ Shall your brothers go to war while you sit here?And Moses said unto the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, Shall your brethren go to the war, and shall ye sit here?모세가 갓 자손과 르우벤 자손에게 말했습니다. "너희 형제들은 싸우러 나가는데, 너희는 여기 앉아 있겠다는 것이냐?
7 Why do you discourage the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which Yahweh has given them?And wherefore discourage ye the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which Jehovah hath given them?어찌하여 너희가 이스라엘 자손의 마음을 꺾어, 여호와께서 그들에게 주신 땅으로 건너가지 못하게 하려느냐?
8 Your fathers did so when I sent them from Kadesh Barnea to see the land.Thus did your fathers, when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land.너희 조상들도 내가 그들을 가데스 바네아에서 보내어 그 땅을 살펴보게 했을 때에 그렇게 했다.
9 For when they went up to the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land which Yahweh had given them.For when they went up unto the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land which Jehovah had given them.그들이 에스골 골짜기로 올라가서 그 땅을 보고는, 이스라엘 자손의 마음을 꺾어, 여호와께서 그들에게 주신 땅으로 들어가지 못하게 했다.
10 Yahweh’s anger burned in that day, and he swore, saying,And Jehovah’s anger was kindled in that day, and he sware, saying,그날에 여호와의 진노가 타올라, 그분께서 맹세하며 말씀하셨다.
11 ‘ Surely none of the men who came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me,Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me:'이집트에서 올라온 사람들 가운데 스무 살 이상 된 자는, 그들이 나를 온전히 따르지 않았으므로, 내가 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 맹세한 그 땅을 결코 보지 못하리라.
12 except Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun, because they have followed Yahweh completely.’save Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun; because they have wholly followed Jehovah.다만 그나스 사람 여분네의 아들 갈렙과 눈의 아들 여호수아는 예외이니, 그들은 여호와를 온전히 따랐기 때문이다.'
13 Yahweh’s anger burned against Israel, and he made them wander back and forth in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation who had done evil in Yahweh’s sight was consumed.And Jehovah’s anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander to and fro in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of Jehovah, was consumed.여호와의 진노가 이스라엘을 향해 타올라, 여호와 보시기에 악을 행한 그 세대가 다 사라질 때까지, 그분께서 그들을 사십 년 동안 광야에서 이리저리 떠돌게 하셨다.
14 “ Behold, you have risen up in your fathers’ place, an increase of sinful men, to increase the fierce anger of Yahweh toward Israel.And, behold, ye are risen up in your fathers’ stead, an increase of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of Jehovah toward Israel.그런데 보라, 너희는 너희 조상의 자리를 이어받아 일어난 죄인의 무리로구나. 여호와의 맹렬한 진노를 이스라엘을 향해 더욱 돋우는구나.
15 For if you turn away from after him, he will yet again leave them in the wilderness; and you will destroy all these people.”For if ye turn away from after him, he will yet again leave them in the wilderness; and ye will destroy all this people.너희가 그분에게서 돌아서면, 그분께서 다시 이 백성을 광야에 버려두실 것이니, 그러면 너희가 이 온 백성을 멸망시키는 것이다."
16 They came near to him, and said, “ We will build sheepfolds here for our livestock, and cities for our little ones;And they came near unto him, and said, We will build sheepfolds here for our cattle, and cities for our little ones:그러자 그들이 모세에게 가까이 나아와 말했습니다. "우리가 여기에 우리 가축을 위해 양 우리를 짓고, 우리 어린아이들을 위해 성읍을 짓겠습니다.
17 but we ourselves will be ready armed to go before the children of Israel, until we have brought them to their place. Our little ones shall dwell in the fortified cities because of the inhabitants of the land.but we ourselves will be ready armed to go before the children of Israel, until we have brought them unto their place: and our little ones shall dwell in the fortified cities because of the inhabitants of the land.그러나 우리 자신은 무장을 갖추고 이스라엘 자손 앞에 서서 나아가, 그들을 그들의 자리로 데려가기까지 하겠습니다. 우리 어린아이들은 이 땅의 주민들 때문에 견고한 성읍에 머물게 하겠습니다.
18 We will not return to our houses until the children of Israel have all received their inheritance.We will not return unto our houses, until the children of Israel have inherited every man his inheritance.이스라엘 자손이 저마다 자기 기업을 차지하기까지, 우리는 우리 집으로 돌아가지 않겠습니다.
19 For we will not inherit with them on the other side of the Jordan and beyond, because our inheritance has come to us on this side of the Jordan eastward.”For we will not inherit with them on the other side of the Jordan, and forward; because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side of the Jordan eastward.우리는 요단강 건너편과 그 앞쪽에서 그들과 함께 기업을 받지 않겠습니다. 우리의 기업은 요단강 이편 동쪽에 우리에게 돌아왔기 때문입니다."
20 Moses said to them: “If you will do this thing, if you will arm yourselves to go before Yahweh to the war,And Moses said unto them, If ye will do this thing, if ye will arm yourselves to go before Jehovah to the war,모세가 그들에게 말했습니다. "너희가 이 일을 행한다면, 곧 너희가 여호와 앞에서 무장을 갖추고 싸우러 나아가,
21 and every one of your armed men will pass over the Jordan before Yahweh until he has driven out his enemies from before him,and every armed man of you will pass over the Jordan before Jehovah, until he hath driven out his enemies from before him,너희 가운데 무장한 사람마다 여호와 앞에서 요단강을 건너가, 그분께서 그분의 원수들을 그분 앞에서 쫓아내실 때까지 싸운다면,
22 and the land is subdued before Yahweh; then afterward you shall return, and be clear of obligation to Yahweh and to Israel. Then this land shall be your possession before Yahweh.and the land is subdued before Jehovah; then afterward ye shall return, and be guiltless towards Jehovah, and towards Israel; and this land shall be unto you for a possession before Jehovah.그리하여 그 땅이 여호와 앞에서 정복된다면, 그 후에 너희가 돌아오더라도 여호와와 이스라엘에 대하여 책임이 없을 것이며, 이 땅이 여호와 앞에서 너희의 소유가 될 것이다.
23 “ But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned against Yahweh; and be sure your sin will find you out.But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against Jehovah; and be sure your sin will find you out.그러나 너희가 그렇게 하지 않는다면, 보라, 너희가 여호와께 죄를 짓는 것이니, 너희의 죄가 반드시 너희를 찾아낼 줄 알아라.
24 Build cities for your little ones, and folds for your sheep; and do that which has proceeded out of your mouth.”Build you cities for your little ones, and folds for your sheep; and do that which hath proceeded out of your mouth.너희 어린아이들을 위해 성읍을 짓고, 너희 양 떼를 위해 우리를 지어라. 그리고 너희 입에서 나온 그대로 행하여라."
25 The children of Gad and the children of Reuben spoke to Moses, saying, “ Your servants will do as my lord commands.And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben spake unto Moses, saying, Thy servants will do as my lord commandeth.갓 자손과 르우벤 자손이 모세에게 말했습니다. "당신의 종들은 내 주께서 명하신 대로 하겠습니다.
26 Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our livestock shall be there in the cities of Gilead;Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our cattle, shall be there in the cities of Gilead;우리 어린아이들과 우리 아내들과 우리 양 떼와 우리의 모든 가축은 길르앗 성읍들에 머물게 하고,
27 but your servants will pass over, every man who is armed for war, before Yahweh to battle, as my lord says.”but thy servants will pass over, every man that is armed for war, before Jehovah to battle, as my lord saith.당신의 종들은, 곧 싸우려고 무장한 사람마다, 내 주께서 말씀하신 대로 여호와 앞에서 건너가 싸우겠습니다."
28 So Moses commanded concerning them to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the heads of the fathers’ households of the tribes of the children of Israel.So Moses gave charge concerning them to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the heads of the fathers’ houses of the tribes of the children of Israel.그래서 모세가 그들에 관하여 엘르아살 제사장과 눈의 아들 여호수아와 이스라엘 자손 지파들의 가문 우두머리들에게 명령했습니다.
29 Moses said to them, “ If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben will pass with you over the Jordan, every man who is armed to battle before Yahweh, and the land is subdued before you, then you shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession;And Moses said unto them, If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben will pass with you over the Jordan, every man that is armed to battle, before Jehovah, and the land shall be subdued before you; then ye shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession:모세가 그들에게 말했습니다. "갓 자손과 르우벤 자손이 너희와 함께 여호와 앞에서 무장하고 요단강을 건너가, 그 땅이 너희 앞에서 정복되면, 너희는 길르앗 땅을 그들에게 소유로 주어라.
30 but if they will not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan.”but if they will not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan.그러나 그들이 너희와 함께 무장하고 건너가지 않으면, 그들은 가나안 땅에서 너희 가운데 소유를 받을 것이다."
31 The children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying, “ As Yahweh has said to your servants, so will we do.And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying, As Jehovah hath said unto thy servants, so will we do.갓 자손과 르우벤 자손이 대답했습니다. "여호와께서 당신의 종들에게 말씀하신 대로 우리가 하겠습니다.
32 We will pass over armed before Yahweh into the land of Canaan, and the possession of our inheritance shall remain with us beyond the Jordan.”We will pass over armed before Jehovah into the land of Canaan, and the possession of our inheritance shall remain with us beyond the Jordan.우리가 여호와 앞에서 무장하고 가나안 땅으로 건너가겠습니다. 그러면 우리 기업의 소유는 요단강 이편에 우리에게 남을 것입니다."
33 Moses gave to them, even to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan; the land, according to its cities and borders, even the cities of the surrounding land.And Moses gave unto them, even to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, and unto the half-tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land, according to the cities thereof with their borders, even the cities of the land round about.그리하여 모세가 갓 자손과 르우벤 자손과 요셉의 아들 므낫세 반 지파에게, 아모리 사람의 왕 시혼의 나라와 바산 왕 옥의 나라, 곧 그 땅을 성읍들과 경계에 따라, 둘러 있는 땅의 성읍들과 함께 주었습니다.
34 The children of Gad built Dibon, Ataroth, Aroer,And the children of Gad built Dibon, and Ataroth, and Aroer,갓 자손은 디본과 아다롯과 아로엘을 세웠고,
35 Atroth-shophan, Jazer, Jogbehah,and Atroth-shophan, and Jazer, and Jogbehah,아다롯소반과 야셀과 욕브하와,
36 Beth Nimrah, and Beth Haran: fortified cities and folds for sheep.and Beth-nimrah, and Beth-haran: fortified cities, and folds for sheep.벧니므라와 벧하란, 곧 견고한 성읍들과 양 우리를 세웠습니다.
37 The children of Reuben built Heshbon, Elealeh, Kiriathaim,And the children of Reuben built Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Kiriathaim,르우벤 자손은 헤스본과 엘르알레와 기랴다임과,
38 Nebo, and Baal Meon, ( their names being changed ), and Sibmah. They gave other names to the cities which they built.and Nebo, and Baal-meon, ( their names being changed,) and Sibmah: and they gave other names unto the cities which they builded.느보와 바알므온(이 이름들은 바뀌었습니다)과 십마를 세웠고, 그들이 세운 성읍들에 다른 이름을 붙였습니다.
39 The children of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead, took it, and dispossessed the Amorites who were therein.And the children of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead, and took it, and dispossessed the Amorites that were therein.므낫세의 아들 마길의 자손이 길르앗으로 가서 그곳을 점령하고, 거기에 있던 아모리 사람들을 쫓아냈습니다.
40 Moses gave Gilead to Machir the son of Manasseh; and he lived therein.And Moses gave Gilead unto Machir the son of Manasseh; and he dwelt therein.그래서 모세가 길르앗을 므낫세의 아들 마길에게 주었고, 그가 거기에 살았습니다.
41 Jair the son of Manasseh went and took its villages, and called them Havvoth Jair.And Jair the son of Manasseh went and took the towns thereof, and called them Havvoth-jair.므낫세의 아들 야일이 가서 그곳의 마을들을 점령하고, 그것들을 하봇야일이라 불렀습니다.
42 Nobah went and took Kenath and its villages, and called it Nobah, after his own name.And Nobah went and took Kenath, and the villages thereof, and called it Nobah, after his own name.노바가 가서 그낫과 그 마을들을 점령하고, 자기 이름을 따라 그것을 노바라 불렀습니다.
