2 All the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron. The whole congregation said to them, “ We wish that we had died in the land of Egypt, or that we had died in this wilderness!And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would that we had died in this wilderness!이스라엘 모든 자손이 모세와 아론을 향해 원망하며, 온 회중이 그들에게 말했다. "차라리 우리가 이집트 땅에서 죽었더라면! 아니면 이 광야에서라도 죽었더라면!
3 Why does Yahweh bring us to this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will be captured or killed! Wouldn’t it be better for us to return into Egypt?”And wherefore doth Jehovah bring us unto this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will be a prey: were it not better for us to return into Egypt?어찌하여 여호와께서 우리를 이 땅으로 이끌어 칼에 쓰러지게 하시는가? 우리 아내와 어린아이들이 사로잡힐 것이다. 우리가 이집트로 돌아가는 것이 차라리 낫지 않겠는가?"
4 They said to one another, “ Let’s choose a leader, and let’s return into Egypt.”And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.그들은 서로 말했다. "우리가 한 지휘관을 세우고 이집트로 돌아가자."

6 Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were of those who spied out the land, tore their clothes.And Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were of them that spied out the land, rent their clothes:그 땅을 정탐한 사람들 가운데 눈의 아들 여호수아와 여분네의 아들 갈렙이 자기 옷을 찢고
7 They spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, “ The land, which we passed through to spy it out, is an exceedingly good land.and they spake unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to spy it out, is an exceeding good land.이스라엘 자손의 온 회중에게 말했다. "우리가 두루 다니며 정탐한 그 땅은 매우 좋은 땅입니다.
8 If Yahweh delights in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it to us: a land which flows with milk and honey.If Jehovah delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it unto us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.여호와께서 우리를 기뻐하시면, 우리를 그 땅으로 이끌어 들이시고 그것을 우리에게 주실 것입니다. 그곳은 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅입니다.
9 Only don’t rebel against Yahweh, neither fear the people of the land; for they are bread for us. Their defense is removed from over them, and Yahweh is with us. Don’t fear them.”Only rebel not against Jehovah, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is removed from over them, and Jehovah is with us: fear them not.다만 여호와를 거역하지 마십시오. 그리고 그 땅의 백성을 두려워하지 마십시오. 그들은 우리의 밥입니다. 그들을 지켜 주던 것이 그들에게서 떠났고, 여호와께서 우리와 함께 계십니다. 그들을 두려워하지 마십시오."
10 But all the congregation threatened to stone them with stones. Yahweh’s glory appeared in the Tent of Meeting to all the children of Israel.But all the congregation bade stone them with stones. And the glory of Jehovah appeared in the tent of meeting unto all the children of Israel.그러나 온 회중이 그들을 돌로 치려고 위협했다. 그때 여호와의 영광이 회막에서 이스라엘 모든 자손에게 나타났다.
11 Yahweh said to Moses, “ How long will this people despise me? How long will they not believe in me, for all the signs which I have worked among them?And Jehovah said unto Moses, How long will this people despise me? and how long will they not believe in me, for all the signs which I have wrought among them?여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "이 백성이 언제까지 나를 멸시하겠느냐? 내가 그들 가운데 행한 그 모든 표적을 보고도 언제까지 나를 믿지 않겠느냐?
12 I will strike them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of you a nation greater and mightier than they.”I will smite them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of thee a nation greater and mightier than they.내가 그들을 전염병으로 쳐서 그들에게서 기업을 빼앗고, 너로 그들보다 더 크고 강한 민족을 이루겠다."
13 Moses said to Yahweh, “ Then the Egyptians will hear it; for you brought up this people in your might from among them.And Moses said unto Jehovah, Then the Egyptians will hear it; for thou broughtest up this people in thy might from among them;모세가 여호와께 아뢰었다. "그리하시면 이집트 사람들이 그 소식을 들을 것입니다. 주께서 주의 능력으로 이 백성을 그들 가운데서 이끌어 내셨으니
14 They will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that you Yahweh are among this people; for you Yahweh are seen face to face, and your cloud stands over them, and you go before them, in a pillar of cloud by day, and in a pillar of fire by night.and they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that thou Jehovah art in the midst of this people; for thou Jehovah art seen face to face, and thy cloud standeth over them, and thou goest before them, in a pillar of cloud by day, and in a pillar of fire by night.그들이 이 땅 주민들에게 그것을 전할 것입니다. 그들은 여호와이신 주께서 이 백성 가운데 계신다는 것을, 또 여호와이신 주께서 얼굴과 얼굴을 마주하여 보이시고, 주의 구름이 그들 위에 머물며, 주께서 낮에는 구름 기둥으로, 밤에는 불기둥으로 그들 앞에서 가신다는 것을 들었습니다.
15 Now if you killed this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of you will speak, saying,Now if thou shalt kill this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of thee will speak, saying,이제 주께서 이 백성을 한 사람처럼 죽이시면, 주의 명성을 들은 민족들이 이렇게 말할 것입니다.
16 ‘ Because Yahweh was not able to bring this people into the land which he swore to them, therefore he has slain them in the wilderness.’Because Jehovah was not able to bring this people into the land which he sware unto them, therefore he hath slain them in the wilderness.'여호와께서 이 백성에게 맹세하신 그 땅으로 그들을 이끌어 들이실 수 없었기 때문에, 광야에서 그들을 죽이셨다.'
17 Now please let the power of the Lord be great, according as you have spoken, saying,And now, I pray thee, let the power of the Lord be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying,이제 바라옵건대, 주께서 말씀하신 대로 주의 능력을 크게 나타내소서.
18 ‘ Yahweh is slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, forgiving iniquity and disobedience; and he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and on the fourth generation.’Jehovah is slow to anger, and abundant in lovingkindness, forgiving iniquity and transgression; and that will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, upon the third and upon the fourth generation.'여호와는 노하기를 더디 하시고 인자가 풍성하시며, 죄악과 거역을 용서하시는 분이다. 그러나 결코 죄 있는 자를 무죄하다 하지 않으시고, 아버지의 죄악을 자손에게 갚으사 삼사 대까지 이르게 하신다.'
19 Please pardon the iniquity of this people according to the greatness of your loving kindness, and just as you have forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.”Pardon, I pray thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of thy lovingkindness, and according as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.바라옵건대, 주의 인자의 크심을 따라, 또 주께서 이집트에서부터 지금까지 이 백성을 용서해 오신 대로, 이 백성의 죄악을 사하여 주소서."
20 Yahweh said, “ I have pardoned according to your word;And Jehovah said, I have pardoned according to thy word:여호와께서 말씀하셨다. "내가 네 말대로 용서하였다.
21 but in very deed— as I live, and as all the earth shall be filled with Yahweh’s glory —but in very deed, as I live, and as all the earth shall be filled with the glory of Jehovah;그러나 참으로, 내가 살아 있고 온 땅에 여호와의 영광이 가득할 것이 분명한 것처럼,
22 because all those men who have seen my glory and my signs, which I worked in Egypt and in the wilderness, yet have tempted me these ten times, and have not listened to my voice;because all those men that have seen my glory, and my signs, which I wrought in Egypt and in the wilderness, yet have tempted me these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;내 영광과, 내가 이집트와 광야에서 행한 표적들을 보고도 이같이 열 번이나 나를 시험하고 내 목소리에 순종하지 않은 그 모든 사람은
23 surely they shall not see the land which I swore to their fathers, neither shall any of those who despised me see it.surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that despised me see it:결단코 내가 그들의 조상에게 맹세한 그 땅을 보지 못할 것이며, 나를 멸시한 자들 가운데 누구도 그것을 보지 못할 것이다.
24 But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and has followed me fully, him I will bring into the land into which he went. His offspring shall possess it.but my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.그러나 내 종 갈렙은 그에게 다른 영이 있어 나를 온전히 따랐으니, 그가 갔던 그 땅으로 내가 그를 이끌어 들이겠고, 그의 자손이 그것을 차지할 것이다.
25 Since the Amalekite and the Canaanite dwell in the valley, tomorrow turn and go into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea.”Now the Amalekite and the Canaanite dwell in the valley: to-morrow turn ye, and get you into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea.이제 아말렉 사람과 가나안 사람이 골짜기에 거주하니, 내일은 돌이켜 홍해 길을 따라 광야로 들어가라."
26 Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,And Jehovah spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,여호와께서 모세와 아론에게 말씀하셨다.
27 “ How long shall I bear with this evil congregation that complain against me? I have heard the complaints of the children of Israel, which they complain against me.How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, that murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me."내가 언제까지 나를 향해 원망하는 이 악한 회중을 참아야 하겠느냐? 이스라엘 자손이 나를 향해 원망하는 그 원망을 내가 들었다.
28 Tell them, ‘ As I live, says Yahweh, surely as you have spoken in my ears, so I will do to you.Say unto them, As I live, saith Jehovah, surely as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you:그들에게 전하여라. '여호와의 말이다. 내가 살아 있으니, 너희가 내 귀에 말한 그대로 내가 너희에게 행하겠다.
29 Your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness; and all who were counted of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, who have complained against me,your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, that have murmured against me,너희 시체가 이 광야에 쓰러질 것이다. 너희 가운데 계수된 모든 사람, 곧 스무 살 이상으로 나를 향해 원망한 너희 모든 수효대로
30 surely you shall not come into the land concerning which I swore that I would make you dwell therein, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.surely ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware that I would make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.내가 너희를 거기 거주하게 하겠다고 맹세한 그 땅에, 여분네의 아들 갈렙과 눈의 아들 여호수아 외에는 결단코 너희가 들어가지 못할 것이다.
31 But I will bring in your little ones that you said should be captured or killed, and they shall know the land which you have rejected.But your little ones, that ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have rejected.그러나 너희가 사로잡힐 것이라고 말한 너희의 어린아이들, 그들은 내가 이끌어 들이겠고, 그들은 너희가 거절한 그 땅을 알게 될 것이다.
32 But as for you, your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness.But as for you, your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness.그러나 너희로 말하면, 너희 시체는 이 광야에 쓰러질 것이다.
33 Your children shall be wanderers in the wilderness forty years, and shall bear your prostitution, until your dead bodies are consumed in the wilderness.And your children shall be wanderers in the wilderness forty years, and shall bear your whoredoms, until your dead bodies be consumed in the wilderness.너희 자녀들은 사십 년 동안 광야에서 떠돌며, 너희 시체가 광야에서 다 없어질 때까지 너희의 음행을 짊어질 것이다.
34 After the number of the days in which you spied out the land, even forty days, for every day a year, you will bear your iniquities, even forty years, and you will know my alienation.’After the number of the days in which ye spied out the land, even forty days, for every day a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my alienation.너희가 그 땅을 정탐한 날 수, 곧 사십 일대로 하루를 일 년으로 쳐서, 너희가 사십 년 동안 너희의 죄악을 짊어지고, 내가 너희를 멀리한다는 것을 알게 될 것이다.'
35 I, Yahweh, have spoken. I will surely do this to all this evil congregation who are gathered together against me. In this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.”I, Jehovah, have spoken, surely this will I do unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.나 여호와가 말하였다. 나를 대적하려고 함께 모인 이 모든 악한 회중에게 내가 반드시 이렇게 행하겠다. 그들은 이 광야에서 다 없어지고 거기서 죽을 것이다."
36 The men whom Moses sent to spy out the land, who returned and made all the congregation to murmur against him by bringing up an evil report against the land,And the men, whom Moses sent to spy out the land, who returned, and made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up an evil report against the land,모세가 그 땅을 정탐하라고 보낸 사람들, 곧 돌아와서 그 땅에 대하여 나쁜 소문을 퍼뜨려 온 회중이 그를 원망하게 한 사람들,
37 even those men who brought up an evil report of the land, died by the plague before Yahweh.even those men that did bring up an evil report of the land, died by the plague before Jehovah.곧 그 땅에 대하여 나쁜 소문을 퍼뜨린 그 사람들은 여호와 앞에서 재앙으로 죽었다.
38 But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh remained alive of those men who went to spy out the land.But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, remained alive of those men that went to spy out the land.그러나 그 땅을 정탐하러 갔던 사람들 가운데 눈의 아들 여호수아와 여분네의 아들 갈렙은 살아남았다.
39 Moses told these words to all the children of Israel, and the people mourned greatly.And Moses told these words unto all the children of Israel: and the people mourned greatly.모세가 이 말씀을 이스라엘 모든 자손에게 전하니, 백성이 크게 슬퍼했다.
40 They rose up early in the morning and went up to the top of the mountain, saying, “ Behold, we are here, and will go up to the place which Yahweh has promised; for we have sinned.”And they rose up early in the morning, and gat them up to the top of the mountain, saying, Lo, we are here, and will go up unto the place which Jehovah hath promised: for we have sinned.그들은 아침 일찍 일어나 산꼭대기로 올라가며 말했다. "보십시오, 우리가 여기 있으니, 여호와께서 약속하신 곳으로 올라가겠습니다. 우리가 죄를 지었습니다."
41 Moses said, “ Why now do you disobey the commandment of Yahweh, since it shall not prosper?And Moses said, Wherefore now do ye transgress the commandment of Jehovah, seeing it shall not prosper?모세가 말했다. "어찌하여 너희가 지금 여호와의 명령을 거역하느냐? 그것이 형통하지 못할 것이다.
42 Don’t go up, for Yahweh isn’t among you; that way you won’t be struck down before your enemies.Go not up, for Jehovah is not among you; that ye be not smitten down before your enemies.올라가지 말라. 여호와께서 너희 가운데 계시지 않으니, 너희가 원수들 앞에서 쳐 죽임을 당하지 않게 하라.
43 For there the Amalekite and the Canaanite are before you, and you will fall by the sword because you turned back from following Yahweh; therefore Yahweh will not be with you.”For there the Amalekite and the Canaanite are before you, and ye shall fall by the sword: because ye are turned back from following Jehovah, therefore Jehovah will not be with you.거기에는 아말렉 사람과 가나안 사람이 너희 앞에 있으니, 너희가 칼에 쓰러질 것이다. 너희가 여호와를 따르지 않고 돌아섰으므로, 여호와께서 너희와 함께하지 않으실 것이다."
44 But they presumed to go up to the top of the mountain. Nevertheless, the ark of Yahweh’s covenant and Moses didn’t depart out of the camp.But they presumed to go up to the top of the mountain: nevertheless the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, and Moses, departed not out of the camp.그러나 그들은 주제넘게 산꼭대기로 올라갔다. 그렇지만 여호와의 언약궤와 모세는 진영에서 떠나지 않았다.
45 Then the Amalekites came down, and the Canaanites who lived in that mountain, and struck them and beat them down even to Hormah.Then the Amalekite came down, and the Canaanite who dwelt in that mountain, and smote them and beat them down, even unto Hormah.그러자 그 산에 살던 아말렉 사람과 가나안 사람이 내려와 그들을 쳐서 호르마까지 쳐부수었다.
