1 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.
2 “Speak to the children of Israel, and take rods from them, one for each fathers’ house, of all their princes according to their fathers’ houses, twelve rods. Write each man’s name on his rod.Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of them rods, one for each fathers’ house, of all their princes according to their fathers’ houses, twelve rods: write thou every man’s name upon his rod."이스라엘 자손에게 일러서 그들에게서 지팡이를 받되, 조상의 가문마다 하나씩, 모든 지휘관에게서 그 조상의 가문에 따라 열두 지팡이를 받아라. 각 사람의 이름을 그의 지팡이에 적어라.
3 You shall write Aaron’s name on Levi’s rod. There shall be one rod for each head of their fathers’ houses.And thou shalt write Aaron’s name upon the rod of Levi; for there shall be one rod for each head of their fathers’ houses.레위의 지팡이에는 아론의 이름을 적어라. 그들의 조상의 가문 우두머리마다 하나의 지팡이가 있어야 하기 때문이다.
4 You shall lay them up in the Tent of Meeting before the covenant, where I meet with you.And thou shalt lay them up in the tent of meeting before the testimony, where I meet with you.너는 그 지팡이들을 회막 안 증거궤 앞, 곧 내가 너희와 만나는 곳에 두어라.
5 It shall happen that the rod of the man whom I shall choose shall bud. I will make the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against you, cease from me.”And it shall come to pass, that the rod of the man whom I shall choose shall bud: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against you.내가 택한 사람의 지팡이에서 싹이 날 것이다. 이렇게 하여 나는 이스라엘 자손이 너희를 향해 원망하는 그 원망을 내 앞에서 그치게 하겠다."
6 Moses spoke to the children of Israel; and all their princes gave him rods, for each prince one, according to their fathers’ houses, a total of twelve rods. Aaron’s rod was among their rods.And Moses spake unto the children of Israel; and all their princes gave him rods, for each prince one, according to their fathers’ houses, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron was among their rods.모세가 이스라엘 자손에게 말하니, 그들의 모든 지휘관이 조상의 가문에 따라 지휘관마다 하나씩 모세에게 지팡이를 주어, 모두 열두 지팡이가 되었고, 아론의 지팡이도 그 지팡이들 가운데 있었다.
7 Moses laid up the rods before Yahweh in the Tent of the Testimony.And Moses laid up the rods before Jehovah in the tent of the testimony.모세가 그 지팡이들을 증거의 장막 안 여호와 앞에 두었다.
8 On the next day, Moses went into the Tent of the Testimony; and behold, Aaron’s rod for the house of Levi had sprouted, budded, produced blossoms, and bore ripe almonds.And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses went into the tent of the testimony; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and put forth buds, and produced blossoms, and bare ripe almonds.이튿날 모세가 증거의 장막에 들어가 보니, 보라, 레위 가문을 위한 아론의 지팡이에 싹이 나서 움이 돋고 꽃이 피어 익은 살구 열매를 맺었다.
9 Moses brought out all the rods from before Yahweh to all the children of Israel. They looked, and each man took his rod.And Moses brought out all the rods from before Jehovah unto all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod.모세가 그 모든 지팡이를 여호와 앞에서 가지고 나와 온 이스라엘 자손에게 보이니, 그들이 보고 각 사람이 자기 지팡이를 가져갔다.
10 Yahweh said to Moses, “ Put back the rod of Aaron before the covenant, to be kept for a token against the children of rebellion; that you may make an end of their complaining against me, that they not die.”And Jehovah said unto Moses, Put back the rod of Aaron before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the children of rebellion; that thou mayest make an end of their murmurings against me, that they die not.여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "아론의 지팡이를 증거궤 앞으로 다시 가져다 두어, 반역하는 자들에게 경고하는 표징으로 보관하여라. 이렇게 하여 그들이 나를 향해 원망하는 것을 그치게 하여, 그들이 죽지 않게 하여라."
11 Moses did so. As Yahweh commanded him, so he did.Thus did Moses: as Jehovah commanded him, so did he.모세가 그대로 행하였다. 여호와께서 그에게 명하신 대로 그가 행하였다.
12 The children of Israel spoke to Moses, saying, “ Behold, we perish! We are undone! We are all undone!And the children of Israel spake unto Moses, saying, Behold, we perish, we are undone, we are all undone.이스라엘 자손이 모세에게 말하였다. "보소서, 우리는 죽습니다! 우리는 망합니다! 우리가 모두 망합니다!
13 Everyone who keeps approaching Yahweh’s tabernacle, dies! Will we all perish?”Every one that cometh near, that cometh near unto the tabernacle of Jehovah, dieth: shall we perish all of us?누구든지 여호와의 성막에 가까이 가는 자, 가까이 다가가는 자는 죽습니다! 우리가 다 죽어야 합니까?"
