1 The people were complaining in the ears of Yahweh. When Yahweh heard it, his anger burned; and Yahweh’s fire burned among them, and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp.And the people were as murmurers, speaking evil in the ears of Jehovah: and when Jehovah heard it, his anger was kindled; and the fire of Jehovah burnt among them, and devoured in the uttermost part of the camp.백성이 여호와께서 들으시는 가운데 불평하였다. 여호와께서 이를 들으시고 진노하셨다. 그리하여 여호와의 불이 그들 가운데 타올라 진영 외곽의 일부를 살라 버렸다.
2 The people cried to Moses; and Moses prayed to Yahweh, and the fire abated.And the people cried unto Moses; and Moses prayed unto Jehovah, and the fire abated.백성이 모세에게 부르짖으니, 모세가 여호와께 기도하였고, 그 불이 사그라들었다.
3 The name of that place was called Taberah, because Yahweh’s fire burned among them.And the name of that place was called Taberah, because the fire of Jehovah burnt among them.여호와의 불이 그들 가운데 타올랐기 때문에 그곳의 이름을 다베라라고 불렀다.
4 The mixed multitude that was among them lusted exceedingly; and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, “ Who will give us meat to eat?And the mixed multitude that was among them lusted exceedingly: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?그들 가운데 섞여 있던 무리가 욕심을 크게 부렸다. 이스라엘 자손도 다시 울며 말하였다. "누가 우리에게 고기를 먹게 해 줄까?
5 We remember the fish, which we ate in Egypt for nothing; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic;We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt for nought; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic:우리가 이집트에서 값없이 먹던 생선이 생각난다. 오이와 참외와 부추와 파와 마늘도 그립다.
6 but now we have lost our appetite. There is nothing at all except this manna to look at.”but now our soul is dried away; there is nothing at all save this manna to look upon.그러나 이제는 입맛을 다 잃었다. 이 만나 말고는 바라볼 것이 아무것도 없구나."
7 The manna was like coriander seed, and it looked like bdellium.And the manna was like coriander seed, and the appearance thereof as the appearance of bdellium.만나는 고수 씨앗 같았고, 그 모양은 베델리엄(향수지) 같았다.
8 The people went around, gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in mortars, and boiled it in pots, and made cakes of it. Its taste was like the taste of fresh oil.The people went about, and gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in mortars, and boiled it in pots, and made cakes of it: and the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil.백성은 돌아다니며 그것을 거두어, 맷돌에 갈거나 절구에 빻아 솥에 끓여 과자를 만들었다. 그 맛은 기름과자 같았다.
9 When the dew fell on the camp in the night, the manna fell on it.And when the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell upon it.밤에 진영에 이슬이 내릴 때 만나도 그 위에 함께 내렸다.
10 Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, every man at the door of his tent; and Yahweh’s anger burned greatly; and Moses was displeased.And Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, every man at the door of his tent: and the anger of Jehovah was kindled greatly; and Moses was displeased.모세가 들으니 백성이 각자 자기 장막 문에서 가족별로 울고 있었다. 여호와께서 크게 진노하셨고, 모세도 마음이 언짢았다.
11 Moses said to Yahweh, “ Why have you treated your servant so badly? Why haven’t I found favor in your sight, that you lay the burden of all this people on me?And Moses said unto Jehovah, Wherefore hast thou dealt ill with thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favor in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me?모세가 여호와께 말씀드렸다. "어찌하여 주의 종을 이렇게 괴롭게 하십니까? 어찌하여 제가 주께 은혜를 입지 못하여, 이 모든 백성의 짐을 제게 지우십니까?
12 Have I conceived all this people? Have I brought them out, that you should tell me, ‘ Carry them in your bosom, as a nurse carries a nursing infant, to the land which you swore to their fathers’?Have I conceived all this people? have I brought them forth, that thou shouldest say unto me, Carry them in thy bosom, as a nursing-father carrieth the sucking child, unto the land which thou swarest unto their fathers?제가 이 모든 백성을 잉태하기라도 했습니까? 제가 그들을 낳기라도 했습니까? 어찌하여 제게 '유모가 젖먹이를 품에 안듯 이들을 품에 안고, 주께서 그들의 조상에게 맹세하신 땅으로 데려가라'고 말씀하십니까?
13 Where could I get meat to give all these people? For they weep before me, saying, ‘ Give us meat, that we may eat.’Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.이 모든 백성에게 줄 고기를 제가 어디서 얻겠습니까? 그들이 제게 울며 '우리에게 고기를 주어 먹게 하라'고 합니다.
14 I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.저 혼자서는 이 모든 백성을 감당할 수 없습니다. 제게는 너무 무겁습니다.
15 If you treat me this way, please kill me right now, if I have found favor in your sight; and don’t let me see my wretchedness.”And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favor in thy sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.주께서 저를 이렇게 대하시려거든, 차라리 지금 저를 죽여 주십시오. 제가 주께 은혜를 입었다면, 제 비참함을 보지 않게 해 주십시오."
16 Yahweh said to Moses, “Gather to me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people and officers over them; and bring them to the Tent of Meeting, that they may stand there with you.And Jehovah said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tent of meeting, that they may stand there with thee.여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "이스라엘 장로 가운데 네가 백성의 장로이며 관리인 줄 아는 사람 일흔 명을 내게로 모아라. 그들을 회막으로 데려와 너와 함께 거기 서게 하여라.
17 I will come down and talk with you there. I will take of the Spirit which is on you, and will put it on them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you don’t bear it yourself alone.And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the Spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.내가 내려가 거기서 너와 말하겠다. 네게 임한 영의 일부를 취하여 그들에게 두겠다. 그러면 그들이 백성의 짐을 너와 함께 질 것이니, 너 혼자 지지 않게 될 것이다.
18 “Say to the people, ‘ Sanctify yourselves in preparation for tomorrow, and you will eat meat; for you have wept in the ears of Yahweh, saying, “ Who will give us meat to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt.” Therefore Yahweh will give you meat, and you will eat.And say thou unto the people, Sanctify yourselves against to-morrow, and ye shall eat flesh; for ye have wept in the ears of Jehovah, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt: therefore Jehovah will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.백성에게는 이렇게 말하여라. '내일을 위하여 너희 자신을 거룩하게 하여라. 그러면 너희가 고기를 먹을 것이다. 너희가 여호와께서 들으시는 가운데 울며 "누가 우리에게 고기를 먹게 해 줄까? 이집트에서는 우리가 잘 지냈다"고 하였으므로, 여호와께서 너희에게 고기를 주실 것이니 너희가 먹을 것이다.
19 You will not eat just one day, or two days, or five days, or ten days, or twenty days,Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days,너희가 하루나 이틀이나 닷새나 열흘이나 스무날만 먹는 것이 아니라,
20 but a whole month, until it comes out at your nostrils, and it is loathsome to you; because you have rejected Yahweh who is among you, and have wept before him, saying, “ Why did we come out of Egypt?”’”but a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome unto you; because that ye have rejected Jehovah who is among you, and have wept before him, saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?한 달 내내, 고기가 너희 콧구멍에서 나와 너희가 메스꺼워할 때까지 먹을 것이다. 이는 너희가 너희 가운데 계신 여호와를 저버리고, 그분 앞에서 울며 "우리가 어찌하여 이집트에서 나왔던가" 하였기 때문이다.'"
21 Moses said, “ The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand men on foot; and you have said, ‘ I will give them meat, that they may eat a whole month.’And Moses said, The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and thou hast said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.모세가 말씀드렸다. "제가 함께 있는 백성은 보병만 육십만 명입니다. 그런데 주께서 '내가 그들에게 고기를 주어 한 달 내내 먹게 하겠다'고 하십니다.
22 Shall flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, to be sufficient for them? Shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to be sufficient for them?”Shall flocks and herds be slain for them, to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them?그들을 만족시키려고 양 떼와 소 떼를 잡겠습니까? 그들을 만족시키려고 바다의 모든 물고기를 모으겠습니까?"
23 Yahweh said to Moses, “ Has Yahweh’s hand grown short? Now you will see whether my word will happen to you or not.”And Jehovah said unto Moses, Is Jehovah’s hand waxed short? now shalt thou see whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not.여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "여호와의 손이 짧아지기라도 했느냐? 이제 너는 내 말이 네게 이루어지는지 아닌지 보게 될 것이다."
24 Moses went out, and told the people Yahweh’s words; and he gathered seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them around the Tent.And Moses went out, and told the people the words of Jehovah: and he gathered seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them round about the Tent.모세가 나가서 백성에게 여호와의 말씀을 전하고, 백성의 장로 일흔 명을 모아 장막 둘레에 세웠다.
25 Yahweh came down in the cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was on him, and put it on the seventy elders. When the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but they did so no more.And Jehovah came down in the cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the Spirit that was upon him, and put it upon the seventy elders: and it came to pass, that, when the Spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, but they did so no more.여호와께서 구름 가운데 내려오셔서 모세와 말씀하시고, 그에게 임한 영의 일부를 취하여 일흔 장로에게 두셨다. 그 영이 그들 위에 머무르자 그들이 예언하였으나, 다시는 그렇게 하지 않았다.
26 But two men remained in the camp. The name of one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad; and the Spirit rested on them. They were of those who were written, but had not gone out to the Tent; and they prophesied in the camp.But there remained two men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the Spirit rested upon them; and they were of them that were written, but had not gone out unto the Tent; and they prophesied in the camp.그런데 두 사람이 진영에 남아 있었다. 한 사람은 엘닷이요 다른 사람은 메닷이었다. 그 영이 그들에게도 머물렀다. 그들은 명단에 기록된 사람들이었으나 장막으로 나가지 않았는데, 진영 안에서 예언하였다.
27 A young man ran, and told Moses, and said, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp!”And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp.한 젊은이가 달려와 모세에게 알렸다. "엘닷과 메닷이 진영 안에서 예언하고 있습니다!"
28 Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his chosen men, answered, “ My lord Moses, forbid them!”And Joshua the son of Nun, the minister of Moses, one of his chosen men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them.모세의 종이자 그의 택한 사람 가운데 하나인 눈의 아들 여호수아가 대답하였다. "내 주 모세여, 그들을 막으십시오!"
29 Moses said to him, “ Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all Yahweh’s people were prophets, that Yahweh would put his Spirit on them!”And Moses said unto him, Art thou jealous for my sake? would that all Jehovah’s people were prophets, that Jehovah would put his Spirit upon them!모세가 그에게 말하였다. "네가 나를 위하여 질투하느냐? 여호와의 모든 백성이 다 선지자가 되어, 여호와께서 그들에게 그분의 영을 두시기를 나는 바란다!"
30 Moses went into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.And Moses gat him into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.그러고 나서 모세는 이스라엘 장로들과 함께 진영으로 들어갔다.
31 A wind from Yahweh went out and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, about a day’s journey on this side, and a day’s journey on the other side, around the camp, and about two cubits above the surface of the earth.And there went forth a wind from Jehovah, and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, about a day’s journey on this side, and a day’s journey on the other side, round about the camp, and about two cubits above the face of the earth.여호와께서 보내신 바람이 바다에서 메추라기를 몰아와, 진영 둘레로 이쪽 하룻길과 저쪽 하룻길 되는 범위에, 땅 위로 약 두 규빗 높이까지 떨어지게 하였다.
32 The people rose up all that day, and all of that night, and all the next day, and gathered the quails. He who gathered least gathered ten homers; and they spread them all out for themselves around the camp.And the people rose up all that day, and all the night, and all the next day, and gathered the quails: he that gathered least gathered ten homers: and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp.백성이 그날 온종일과 밤새도록, 그리고 이튿날 온종일 일어나 메추라기를 거두었다. 가장 적게 거둔 사람도 열 호멜을 거두었고, 그들은 진영 둘레에 그것들을 널어 두었다.
33 While the meat was still between their teeth, before it was chewed, Yahweh’s anger burned against the people, and Yahweh struck the people with a very great plague.While the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the anger of Jehovah was kindled against the people, and Jehovah smote the people with a very great plague.고기가 아직 그들의 이 사이에 있어 채 씹지도 못하였는데, 여호와께서 백성에게 진노하셔서 백성을 아주 큰 재앙으로 치셨다.
34 The name of that place was called Kibroth Hattaavah, because there they buried the people who lusted.And the name of that place was called Kibroth-hattaavah, because there they buried the people that lusted.그곳에서 욕심부린 백성을 묻었으므로, 그곳의 이름을 기브롯 핫다아와라고 불렀다.
35 From Kibroth Hattaavah the people traveled to Hazeroth; and they stayed at Hazeroth.From Kibroth-hattaavah the people journeyed unto Hazeroth; and they abode at Hazeroth.백성은 기브롯 핫다아와를 떠나 하세롯으로 가서 거기 머물렀다.
