1 Amaziah was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. 5 Moreover Amaziah gathered Judah together and ordered them according to their fathers’ houses, under captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, even all Judah and Benjamin. 7 A man of God came to him, saying, “ O king, don’t let the army of Israel go with you, for Yahweh is not with Israel, with all the children of Ephraim.But there came a man of God to him, saying, O king, let not the army of Israel go with thee; for Jehovah is not with Israel, to wit, with all the children of Ephraim.그때 한 하나님의 사람이 그에게 와서 말했습니다. "왕이여, 이스라엘 군대를 왕과 함께 가게 하지 마십시오. 여호와께서는 이스라엘, 곧 에브라임의 모든 자손과 함께 계시지 않습니다.
8 But if you will go, take action, and be strong for the battle. God will overthrow you before the enemy; for God has power to help, and to overthrow.”But if thou wilt go, do valiantly, be strong for the battle: God will cast thee down before the enemy; for God hath power to help, and to cast down.만일 왕이 가서 담대히 행하며 전쟁에 힘쓰더라도, 하나님께서 왕을 원수 앞에서 엎드러지게 하실 것입니다. 하나님께는 돕는 능력도 있고 엎드러뜨리는 능력도 있습니다."
9 Amaziah said to the man of God, “ But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel?” The man of God answered, “ Yahweh is able to give you much more than this.”And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, Jehovah is able to give thee much more than this.아마샤가 하나님의 사람에게 말했습니다. "그렇다면 내가 이스라엘 군대에게 준 백 달란트는 어찌해야 하오?" 하나님의 사람이 대답했습니다. "여호와께서는 이보다 훨씬 더 많이 왕에게 주실 수 있습니다."
10 Then Amaziah separated them, the army that had come to him out of Ephraim, to go home again. 11 Amaziah took courage, and led his people out and went to the Valley of Salt, and struck ten thousand of the children of Seir.And Amaziah took courage, and led forth his people, and went to the Valley of Salt, and smote of the children of Seir ten thousand.아마샤는 용기를 내어 자기 백성을 이끌고 나가 소금 골짜기에 이르러 세일 자손 만 명을 쳤습니다.
12 The children of Judah carried away ten thousand alive, and brought them to the top of the rock, and threw them down from the top of the rock, so that they all were broken in pieces.And other ten thousand did the children of Judah carry away alive, and brought them unto the top of the rock, and cast them down from the top of the rock, so that they were all broken in pieces.유다 자손은 또 만 명을 사로잡아 바위 꼭대기로 끌고 가서 바위 꼭대기에서 떨어뜨렸으니, 그들 모두가 산산조각이 났습니다.

15 Therefore Yahweh’s anger burned against Amaziah, and he sent to him a prophet who said to him, “ Why have you sought after the gods of the people, which have not delivered their own people out of your hand?”Wherefore the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent unto him a prophet, who said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which have not delivered their own people out of thy hand?그러므로 여호와의 분노가 아마샤를 향해 타올랐고, 여호와께서 그에게 한 선지자를 보내어 말씀하셨습니다. "어찌하여 그 백성의 신들을 찾았느냐? 그 신들은 자기 백성도 네 손에서 건지지 못했느니라."
16 As he talked with him, the king said to him, “ Have we made you one of the king’s counselors? Stop! Why should you be struck down?” Then the prophet stopped, and said, “ I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.”And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the king said unto him, Have we made thee of the king’s counsel? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel.선지자가 그에게 말하고 있을 때, 왕이 그에게 말했습니다. 17 Then Amaziah king of Judah consulted his advisers, and sent to Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, “ Come! Let’s look one another in the face.”Then Amaziah king of Judah took advice, and sent to Joash, the son of Jehoahaz the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.그 후 유다 왕 아마샤는 자기 고문들과 의논하고, 예후의 손자요 여호아하스의 아들인 이스라엘 왕 요아스에게 사람을 보내어 말했습니다. 19 You say to yourself that you have struck Edom; and your heart lifts you up to boast. Now stay at home. Why should you meddle with trouble, that you should fall, even you and Judah with you?’”Thou sayest, Lo, thou hast smitten Edom; and thy heart lifteth thee up to boast: abide now at home; why shouldest thou meddle to thy hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?너는 속으로 '내가 에돔을 쳤다' 하며 네 마음이 교만하여 자랑하는구나. 이제 집에나 머물러라. 어찌하여 화를 자초하여, 너와 유다가 함께 망하려 하느냐?"

22 Judah was defeated by Israel; so every man fled to his tent.And Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to his tent.유다가 이스라엘 앞에서 패하여 각 사람이 자기 장막으로 도망쳤습니다.

25 Amaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, lived for fifteen years after the death of Joash, son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel.And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.유다 왕 요아스의 아들 아마샤는 이스라엘 왕 여호아하스의 아들 요아스가 죽은 후에도 열다섯 해를 더 살았습니다.

27 Now from the time that Amaziah turned away from following Yahweh, they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem.
