1 The inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah his youngest son king in his place, because the band of men who came with the Arabians to the camp had slain all the oldest. So Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah reigned.And the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah his youngest son king in his stead; for the band of men that came with the Arabians to the camp had slain all the eldest. So Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah reigned.예루살렘 주민들은 여호람의 막내아들 아하시야를 그의 뒤를 이어 왕으로 세웠다. 아라비아 사람들과 함께 진영으로 쳐들어온 무리가 형들을 모두 죽였기 때문이다. 그래서 유다 왕 여호람의 아들 아하시야가 왕이 되었다.
2 Ahaziah was forty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri.Forty and two years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri.아하시야는 왕이 될 때 마흔두 살이었고, 예루살렘에서 한 해 동안 다스렸다. 그의 어머니의 이름은 아달랴였는데, 그녀는 오므리의 손녀였다.
3 He also walked in the ways of Ahab’s house, because his mother was his counselor in acting wickedly.He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab; for his mother was his counsellor to do wickedly.그도 아합 집안의 길을 따라 걸었다. 그의 어머니가 그를 부추겨 악을 행하게 하는 모사 노릇을 했기 때문이다.
4 He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, as did Ahab’s house, for they were his counselors after the death of his father, to his destruction.And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, as did the house of Ahab; for they were his counsellors after the death of his father, to his destruction.그는 아합 집안처럼 여호와께서 보시기에 악한 일을 행했다. 그의 아버지가 죽은 뒤로 아합 집안 사람들이 그의 모사가 되어 그를 멸망으로 이끌었기 때문이다.
5 He also followed their counsel, and went with Jehoram the son of Ahab king of Israel to war against Hazael king of Syria at Ramoth Gilead; and the Syrians wounded Joram.He walked also after their counsel, and went with Jehoram the son of Ahab king of Israel to war against Hazael king of Syria at Ramoth-gilead: and the Syrians wounded Joram.그는 또 그들의 조언을 따라, 이스라엘 왕 아합의 아들 여호람과 함께 라못 길르앗으로 가서 시리아 왕 하사엘과 싸웠다. 그때 시리아 사람들이 요람에게 상처를 입혔다.
6 He returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which they had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. Azariah the son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to see Jehoram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.And he returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which they had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. And Azariah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Jehoram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.요람은 라마에서 시리아 왕 하사엘과 싸우다가 입은 상처를 치료하려고 이스르엘로 돌아갔다. 유다 왕 여호람의 아들 아사랴는 아합의 아들 여호람이 병들어 있었으므로 그를 보러 이스르엘로 내려갔다.
7 Now the destruction of Ahaziah was of God, in that he went to Joram; for when he had come, he went out with Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, whom Yahweh had anointed to cut off Ahab’s house.Now the destruction of Ahaziah was of God, in that he went unto Joram: for when he was come, he went out with Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, whom Jehovah had anointed to cut off the house of Ahab.아하시야가 요람에게 간 일에서 그의 멸망이 하나님께로부터 비롯되었다. 아하시야가 도착했을 때, 그는 여호람과 함께 님시의 아들 예후를 치러 나갔는데, 예후는 아합 집안을 끊어 버리도록 여호와께서 기름 부어 세우신 사람이었기 때문이다.
8 When Jehu was executing judgment on Ahab’s house, he found the princes of Judah and the sons of the brothers of Ahaziah serving Ahaziah, and killed them.And it came to pass, when Jehu was executing judgment upon the house of Ahab, that he found the princes of Judah, and the sons of the brethren of Ahaziah, ministering to Ahaziah, and slew them.예후가 아합 집안에 심판을 집행할 때, 그는 아하시야를 섬기던 유다의 지도자들과 아하시야의 형제들의 아들들을 찾아내어 죽였다.
9 He sought Ahaziah, and they caught him ( now he was hiding in Samaria ), and they brought him to Jehu and killed him; and they buried him, for they said, “ He is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought Yahweh with all his heart.” The house of Ahaziah had no power to hold the kingdom.And he sought Ahaziah, and they caught him ( now he was hiding in Samaria ), and they brought him to Jehu, and slew him; and they buried him, for they said, He is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought Jehovah with all his heart. And the house of Ahaziah had no power to hold the kingdom.그는 아하시야를 찾았는데, 사람들이 그를 붙잡았다. 그때 아하시야는 사마리아에 숨어 있었다. 그들은 그를 예후에게 데려와 죽였다. 그러고는 그를 장사 지내며 말하기를 "이 사람은 온 마음으로 여호와를 찾던 여호사밧의 손자다" 했다. 이렇게 아하시야의 집안에는 그 나라를 붙잡을 힘이 없었다.
10 Now when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the royal offspring of the house of Judah.Now when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal of the house of Judah.아하시야의 어머니 아달랴는 자기 아들이 죽은 것을 보고 일어나 유다 집안의 왕족 자손을 모조리 죽였다.
11 But Jehoshabeath, the king’s daughter, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stealthily rescued him from among the king’s sons who were slain, and put him and his nurse in the bedroom. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of King Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada the priest ( for she was the sister of Ahaziah), hid him from Athaliah, so that she didn’t kill him.But Jehoshabeath, the daughter of the king, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him away from among the king’s sons that were slain, and put him and his nurse in the bedchamber. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of king Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada the priest ( for she was the sister of Ahaziah), hid him from Athaliah, so that she slew him not.그러나 왕의 딸 여호사브앗이 아하시야의 아들 요아스를 데려다가, 죽임당하는 왕자들 가운데서 그를 몰래 빼내어 그와 그의 유모를 침실에 숨겼다. 이렇게 여호람 왕의 딸이며 제사장 여호야다의 아내인 여호사브앗은 — 그녀는 아하시야의 누이였다 — 아달랴가 요아스를 죽이지 못하도록 그를 숨겼다.
12 He was with them hidden in God’s house six years while Athaliah reigned over the land.And he was with them hid in the house of God six years: and Athaliah reigned over the land.요아스는 그들과 함께 하나님의 성전에 여섯 해 동안 숨어 지냈고, 그동안 아달랴가 그 땅을 다스렸다.
