1 In the thirty-sixth year of Asa’s reign, Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not allow anyone to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.In the six and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa, Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not suffer any one to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.아사가 다스린 지 삼십육 년에 이스라엘 왕 바아사가 유다를 치러 올라와서 라마를 건축하여, 유다 왕 아사에게 아무도 드나들지 못하게 하려 하였다.
2 Then Asa brought out silver and gold out of the treasures of Yahweh’s house and of the king’s house, and sent to Ben Hadad king of Syria, who lived at Damascus, saying,Then Asa brought out silver and gold out of the treasures of the house of Jehovah and of the king’s house, and sent to Ben-hadad king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,그러자 아사가 여호와의 성전 곳간과 왕궁 곳간에서 은과 금을 꺼내어, 다마스쿠스에 살던 시리아 왕 벤하닷에게 보내며 이렇게 말하였다.
3 “ Let there be a treaty between me and you, as there was between my father and your father. Behold, I have sent you silver and gold. Go, break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.”There is a league between me and thee, as there was between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent thee silver and gold; go, break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me."내 아버지와 당신의 아버지 사이에 그러했던 것처럼, 나와 당신 사이에 조약을 맺읍시다. 보십시오, 내가 당신에게 은과 금을 보냅니다. 가서 이스라엘 왕 바아사와 맺은 조약을 깨뜨려, 그가 나에게서 물러가게 하십시오."
4 Ben Hadad listened to King Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel; and they struck Ijon, Dan, Abel Maim, and all the storage cities of Naphtali.And Ben-hadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel; and they smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-maim, and all the store-cities of Naphtali.벤하닷이 아사 왕의 말을 듣고, 자기 군대 지휘관들을 이스라엘 성읍들로 보내어, 이욘과 단과 아벨마임과 납달리의 모든 창고 성읍들을 쳤다.
5 When Baasha heard of it, he stopped building Ramah, and let his work cease.And it came to pass, when Baasha heard thereof, that he left off building Ramah, and let his work cease.바아사가 이 소식을 듣고는 라마 건축을 그치고 그 일을 멈추었다.
6 Then Asa the king took all Judah, and they carried away the stones and timber of Ramah, with which Baasha had built; and he built Geba and Mizpah with them.Then Asa the king took all Judah; and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha had builded; and he built therewith Geba and Mizpah.그러자 아사 왕이 온 유다 사람을 동원하여, 바아사가 라마를 건축하던 돌과 목재를 실어다가, 그것으로 게바와 미스바를 건축하였다.
7 At that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said to him, “ Because you have relied on the king of Syria, and have not relied on Yahweh your God, therefore the army of the king of Syria has escaped out of your hand.And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and hast not relied on Jehovah thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thy hand.그때에 선견자 하나니가 유다 왕 아사에게 와서 말하였다. "왕께서 여호와 당신의 하나님을 의지하지 않고 시리아 왕을 의지하셨으므로, 시리아 왕의 군대가 왕의 손에서 벗어나고 말았습니다.
8 Weren’t the Ethiopians and the Lubim a huge army, with chariots and exceedingly many horsemen? Yet, because you relied on Yahweh, he delivered them into your hand.Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubim a huge host, with chariots and horsemen exceeding many? yet, because thou didst rely on Jehovah, he delivered them into thy hand.에티오피아 사람들과 룹 사람들이 병거와 마병이 심히 많은 큰 군대가 아니었습니까? 그런데도 왕께서 여호와를 의지하셨을 때에, 그분께서 그들을 왕의 손에 넘겨주셨습니다.
9 For Yahweh’s eyes run back and forth throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. You have done foolishly in this; for from now on you will have wars.”For the eyes of Jehovah run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly; for from henceforth thou shalt have wars.여호와의 눈은 온 땅을 두루 살피시어, 그분을 향하여 마음이 온전한 사람들을 위해 능력을 베푸십니다. 이번에 왕께서 어리석게 행하셨으니, 이제부터 왕에게는 전쟁이 있을 것입니다."
10 Then Asa was angry with the seer, and put him in the prison; for he was in a rage with him because of this thing. Asa oppressed some of the people at the same time.Then Asa was wroth with the seer, and put him in the prison-house; for he was in a rage with him because of this thing. And Asa oppressed some of the people at the same time.그러자 아사가 그 선견자에게 노하여 그를 옥에 가두었으니, 이 일로 그에게 크게 화를 냈기 때문이다. 아사는 그때에 백성 가운데 몇 사람도 학대하였다.
11 Behold, the acts of Asa, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.And, behold, the acts of Asa, first and last, lo, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.보라, 아사의 행적은 처음부터 끝까지 유다와 이스라엘 열왕기에 기록되어 있다.
12 In the thirty-ninth year of his reign, Asa was diseased in his feet. His disease was exceedingly great; yet in his disease he didn’t seek Yahweh, but just the physicians.And in the thirty and ninth year of his reign Asa was diseased in his feet; his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to Jehovah, but to the physicians.아사가 다스린 지 삼십구 년에 그의 발에 병이 들었는데, 그 병이 심히 위중하였다. 그러나 그는 병중에도 여호와를 찾지 않고 의원들에게만 의지하였다.
13 Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the forty-first year of his reign.And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the one and fortieth year of his reign.아사가 그의 조상들과 함께 잠들어, 다스린 지 사십일 년에 죽었다.
14 They buried him in his own tomb, which he had dug out for himself in David’s city, and laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet odors and various kinds of spices prepared by the perfumers’ art; and they made a very great fire for him.And they buried him in his own sepulchres, which he had hewn out for himself in the city of David, and laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet odors and divers kinds of spices prepared by the perfumers’ art: and they made a very great burning for him.사람들이 그가 다윗 성에 자기를 위하여 파 둔 자기 무덤에 그를 장사하였다. 그들은 향 재료와 향 만드는 기술로 조제한 여러 가지 향품을 가득 채운 침상에 그를 누이고, 그를 위하여 심히 크게 분향하였다.
