1 When Rehoboam had come to Jerusalem, he assembled the house of Judah and Benjamin, one hundred eighty thousand chosen men who were warriors, to fight against Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam.And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled the house of Judah and Benjamin, a hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, that were warriors, to fight against Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam.르호보암이 예루살렘에 이르자, 유다와 베냐민 가문에서 정예 군사 십팔만 명을 불러 모았습니다. 그들은 다 싸울 줄 아는 용사들이었으며, 이스라엘과 싸워 나라를 다시 르호보암에게 돌리려는 것이었습니다.
2 But Yahweh’s word came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,But the word of Jehovah came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,그러나 여호와의 말씀이 하나님의 사람 스마야에게 임하여 이르셨습니다.
3 “Speak to Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,Speak unto Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,"솔로몬의 아들 유다 왕 르호보암과, 유다와 베냐민에 있는 모든 이스라엘 사람에게 이렇게 전하여라.
4 ‘ Yahweh says, “ You shall not go up, nor fight against your brothers! Every man return to his house; for this thing is of me.”’” So they listened to Yahweh’s words, and returned from going against Jeroboam.Thus saith Jehovah, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren: return every man to his house; for this thing is of me. So they hearkened unto the words of Jehovah, and returned from going against Jeroboam.'여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 너희는 올라가지도 말고 너희 형제들과 싸우지도 말아라. 저마다 자기 집으로 돌아가거라. 이 일은 내게서 난 것이다.'" 그러자 그들은 여호와의 말씀을 듣고, 여로보암을 치러 가려던 것을 그만두고 돌아갔습니다.
5 Rehoboam lived in Jerusalem, and built cities for defense in Judah.And Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem, and built cities for defence in Judah.르호보암은 예루살렘에 살면서, 유다 안에 방비를 위한 성읍들을 세웠습니다.
6 He built Bethlehem, Etam, Tekoa,He built Beth-lehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,그는 베들레헴과 에담과 드고아를 세웠고,
7 Beth Zur, Soco, Adullam,And Beth-zur, and Soco, and Adullam,벧술과 소고와 아둘람을,
8 Gath, Mareshah, Ziph,and Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,가드와 마레사와 십을,
9 Adoraim, Lachish, Azekah,and Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,아도라임과 라기스와 아세가를,
10 Zorah, Aijalon, and Hebron, which are fortified cities in Judah and in Benjamin.and Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, which are in Judah and in Benjamin, fortified cities.소라와 아얄론과 헤브론을 세웠으니, 이것들은 유다와 베냐민에 있는 견고한 성읍들이었습니다.
11 He fortified the strongholds and put captains in them with stores of food, oil and wine.And he fortified the strongholds, and put captains in them, and stores of victuals, and oil and wine.그는 그 요새들을 튼튼히 하고, 그 안에 지휘관들을 두며, 양식과 기름과 포도주를 비축해 두었습니다.
12 He put shields and spears in every city, and made them exceedingly strong. Judah and Benjamin belonged to him.And in every city he put shields and spears, and made them exceeding strong. And Judah and Benjamin belonged to him.그는 성읍마다 방패와 창을 두어 그것들을 매우 견고하게 하였습니다. 이렇게 유다와 베냐민이 그에게 속하였습니다.
13 The priests and the Levites who were in all Israel stood with him out of all their territory.And the priests and the Levites that were in all Israel resorted to him out of all their border.온 이스라엘에 있던 제사장들과 레위 사람들이 자기들의 모든 지역에서 그에게로 모여들었습니다.
14 For the Levites left their pasture lands and their possessions, and came to Judah and Jerusalem; for Jeroboam and his sons cast them off, that they should not execute the priest’s office to Yahweh.For the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons cast them off, that they should not execute the priest’s office unto Jehovah;이는 레위 사람들이 자기들의 목초지와 소유지를 버리고 유다와 예루살렘으로 왔기 때문인데, 여로보암과 그의 아들들이 그들을 내쫓아 여호와께 제사장의 직무를 행하지 못하게 하였던 것입니다.
15 He himself appointed priests for the high places, for the male goat and calf idols which he had made.and he appointed him priests for the high places, and for the he-goats, and for the calves which he had made.여로보암은 산당과 숫염소 우상과 자기가 만든 송아지 우상을 위하여 따로 제사장들을 세웠습니다.
16 After them, out of all the tribes of Israel, those who set their hearts to seek Yahweh, the God of Israel, came to Jerusalem to sacrifice to Yahweh, the God of their fathers.And after them, out of all the tribes of Israel, such as set their hearts to seek Jehovah, the God of Israel, came to Jerusalem to sacrifice unto Jehovah, the God of their fathers.그들을 뒤이어, 이스라엘 모든 지파 가운데서 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와를 찾기로 마음을 정한 사람들이, 자기 조상의 하나님 여호와께 제사를 드리려고 예루살렘으로 왔습니다.
17 So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah and made Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong for three years, for they walked three years in the way of David and Solomon.So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and made Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong, three years; for they walked three years in the way of David and Solomon.이렇게 그들은 유다 나라를 강하게 하고 솔로몬의 아들 르호보암을 삼 년 동안 든든하게 하였으니, 그들이 삼 년 동안 다윗과 솔로몬의 길로 행하였기 때문입니다.
18 Rehoboam took a wife for himself, Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David and of Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse.And Rehoboam took him a wife, Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David, and of Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse;르호보암은 다윗의 아들 여리못의 딸 마할랏을 아내로 맞이하였는데, 마할랏은 이새의 아들 엘리압의 딸 아비하일의 소생이었습니다.
19 She bore him sons: Jeush, Shemariah, and Zaham.and she bare him sons: Jeush, and Shemariah, and Zaham.그 여인은 그에게 아들들을 낳았으니, 여우스와 스마랴와 사함입니다.
20 After her, he took Maacah the granddaughter of Absalom; and she bore him Abijah, Attai, Ziza, and Shelomith.And after her he took Maacah the daughter of Absalom; and she bare him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.그 후에 그는 압살롬의 딸 마아가를 아내로 맞이하였고, 그 여인은 그에게 아비야와 앗대와 시사와 슬로밋을 낳았습니다.
21 Rehoboam loved Maacah the granddaughter of Absalom above all his wives and his concubines; for he took eighteen wives and sixty concubines, and became the father of twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.And Rehoboam loved Maacah the daughter of Absalom above all his wives and his concubines ( for he took eighteen wives, and threescore concubines, and begat twenty and eight sons and threescore daughters ).르호보암은 모든 아내와 첩들 가운데서 압살롬의 딸 마아가를 가장 사랑하였습니다. 그는 아내 열여덟과 첩 예순을 두었고, 아들 스물여덟과 딸 예순을 낳았습니다.
22 Rehoboam appointed Abijah the son of Maacah to be chief, the prince among his brothers, for he intended to make him king.And Rehoboam appointed Abijah the son of Maacah to be chief, even the prince among his brethren; for he was minded to make him king.르호보암은 마아가의 아들 아비야를 그의 형제들 가운데 우두머리이자 으뜸가는 자로 세웠으니, 그를 왕으로 삼으려 하였기 때문입니다.
23 He dealt wisely, and dispersed some of his sons throughout all the lands of Judah and Benjamin, to every fortified city. He gave them food in abundance; and he sought many wives for them.And he dealt wisely, and dispersed of all his sons throughout all the lands of Judah and Benjamin, unto every fortified city: and he gave them victuals in abundance. And he sought for them many wives.그는 지혜롭게 처신하여, 자기 아들들을 유다와 베냐민의 온 땅에 흩어 모든 견고한 성읍에 두고, 그들에게 양식을 풍족히 주었으며, 그들을 위하여 많은 아내를 구해 주었습니다.
