1 Hear, Israel! You are to pass over the Jordan today, to go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourself, cities great and fortified up to the sky,Hear, O Israel: thou art to pass over the Jordan this day, to go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fortified up to heaven,이스라엘아, 들으라. 너는 오늘 요단강을 건너가서, 너보다 더 크고 강한 민족들을 쫓아내고 그 땅을 차지하려 한다. 그 성읍들은 크고, 성벽이 하늘까지 닿을 만큼 견고하다.
2 a people great and tall, the sons of the Anakim, whom you know, and of whom you have heard say, “ Who can stand before the sons of Anak?”a people great and tall, the sons of the Anakim, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard say, Who can stand before the sons of Anak?그들은 키가 크고 강대한 백성, 곧 아낙 사람의 자손이니, 너도 그들을 알고 있고 "누가 아낙 자손 앞에 설 수 있겠는가?" 하는 말도 들었다.
3 Know therefore today that Yahweh your God is he who goes over before you as a devouring fire. He will destroy them and he will bring them down before you. So you shall drive them out and make them perish quickly, as Yahweh has spoken to you.Know therefore this day, that Jehovah thy God is he who goeth over before thee as a devouring fire; he will destroy them, and he will bring them down before thee: so shalt thou drive them out, and make them to perish quickly, as Jehovah hath spoken unto thee.그러므로 오늘 분명히 알아 두어라. 네 하나님 여호와께서 친히 맹렬한 불처럼 네 앞서 건너가시며, 그들을 멸하시고 네 앞에서 꺾으실 것이다. 그리하여 너는 그들을 쫓아내고, 여호와께서 네게 말씀하신 대로 그들을 속히 멸하게 될 것이다.
4 Don’t say in your heart, after Yahweh your God has thrust them out from before you, “ For my righteousness Yahweh has brought me in to possess this land;” because Yahweh drives them out before you because of the wickedness of these nations.Speak not thou in thy heart, after that Jehovah thy God hath thrust them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness Jehovah hath brought me in to possess this land; whereas for the wickedness of these nations Jehovah doth drive them out from before thee.네 하나님 여호와께서 그들을 네 앞에서 쫓아내신 후에, 너는 마음속으로 "여호와께서 나의 의로움 때문에 나를 이끌어 이 땅을 차지하게 하셨다" 하고 말하지 말아라. 사실은 이 민족들의 악함 때문에 여호와께서 그들을 네 앞에서 쫓아내시는 것이다.
5 Not for your righteousness or for the uprightness of your heart do you go in to possess their land; but for the wickedness of these nations Yahweh your God does drive them out from before you, and that he may establish the word which Yahweh swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thy heart, dost thou go in to possess their land; but for the wickedness of these nations Jehovah thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may establish the word which Jehovah sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.네가 그들의 땅을 차지하러 들어가는 것은 네 의로움이나 네 마음의 정직함 때문이 아니다. 오히려 이 민족들의 악함 때문에 네 하나님 여호와께서 그들을 네 앞에서 쫓아내시는 것이며, 또한 여호와께서 네 조상 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 맹세하신 말씀을 이루려 하심이다.
6 Know therefore that Yahweh your God doesn’t give you this good land to possess for your righteousness, for you are a stiff-necked people.Know therefore, that Jehovah thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people.그러므로 분명히 알아 두어라. 네 하나님 여호와께서 이 좋은 땅을 네게 차지하라고 주시는 것은 네 의로움 때문이 아니다. 너는 목이 곧은 백성이기 때문이다.
7 Remember, and don’t forget, how you provoked Yahweh your God to wrath in the wilderness. From the day that you left the land of Egypt until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against Yahweh.Remember, forget thou not, how thou provokedst Jehovah thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou wentest forth out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against Jehovah.기억하고 잊지 말아라. 네가 광야에서 네 하나님 여호와를 어떻게 진노하시게 했는지를. 네가 이집트 땅에서 나온 날부터 이곳에 이르기까지, 너는 여호와를 거역해 왔다.
8 Also in Horeb you provoked Yahweh to wrath, and Yahweh was angry with you to destroy you.Also in Horeb ye provoked Jehovah to wrath, and Jehovah was angry with you to destroy you.호렙에서도 너는 여호와를 진노하시게 했고, 여호와께서는 너희에게 노하셔서 너희를 멸하려 하셨다.
9 When I had gone up onto the mountain to receive the stone tablets, even the tablets of the covenant which Yahweh made with you, then I stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights. I neither ate bread nor drank water.When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which Jehovah made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights; I did neither eat bread nor drink water.내가 돌판들, 곧 여호와께서 너희와 맺으신 언약의 돌판들을 받으러 산에 올라갔을 때, 나는 사십 일 사십 밤을 그 산에 머물면서 떡도 먹지 않고 물도 마시지 않았다.
10 Yahweh delivered to me the two stone tablets written with God’s finger. On them were all the words which Yahweh spoke with you on the mountain out of the middle of the fire in the day of the assembly.And Jehovah delivered unto me the two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them was written according to all the words, which Jehovah spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.여호와께서 하나님의 손가락으로 친히 쓰신 두 돌판을 내게 주셨으니, 그 위에는 총회의 날에 여호와께서 산 위 불길 가운데서 너희에게 하신 모든 말씀이 적혀 있었다.
11 It came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights that Yahweh gave me the two stone tablets, even the tablets of the covenant.And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that Jehovah gave me the two tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant.사십 일 사십 밤이 끝났을 때, 여호와께서 두 돌판, 곧 언약의 돌판을 내게 주셨다.
12 Yahweh said to me, “ Arise, get down quickly from here; for your people whom you have brought out of Egypt have corrupted themselves. They have quickly turned away from the way which I commanded them. They have made a molten image for themselves!”And Jehovah said unto me, Arise, get thee down quickly from hence; for thy people that thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they are quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image.그때 여호와께서 내게 말씀하셨다. "일어나, 여기서 속히 내려가거라. 네가 이집트에서 인도해 낸 네 백성이 스스로를 더럽혔다. 그들이 내가 명령한 길에서 속히 떠나 자기들을 위해 부어 만든 우상을 만들었다."
13 Furthermore Yahweh spoke to me, saying, “ I have seen these people, and behold, they are a stiff-necked people.Furthermore Jehovah spake unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:또 여호와께서 내게 말씀하셨다. "내가 이 백성을 보았는데, 보아라, 이들은 목이 곧은 백성이다.
14 Leave me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under the sky; and I will make of you a nation mightier and greater than they.”let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven; and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.나를 막지 말아라. 내가 그들을 멸하고 하늘 아래에서 그 이름을 지워 버리겠다. 그리고 너로 그들보다 강하고 큰 민족이 되게 하겠다."
15 So I turned and came down from the mountain, and the mountain was burning with fire. The two tablets of the covenant were in my two hands.So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount was burning with fire: and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.그래서 나는 돌이켜 산에서 내려왔는데, 그 산은 불로 타오르고 있었고, 언약의 두 돌판은 내 두 손에 있었다.
16 I looked, and behold, you had sinned against Yahweh your God. You had made yourselves a molded calf. You had quickly turned away from the way which Yahweh had commanded you.And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against Jehovah your God; ye had made you a molten calf: ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which Jehovah had commanded you.내가 보니, 보아라, 너희가 너희 하나님 여호와께 죄를 지어 너희를 위해 부어 만든 송아지를 만들었고, 여호와께서 너희에게 명령하신 길에서 속히 떠나 있었다.
17 I took hold of the two tablets, and threw them out of my two hands, and broke them before your eyes.And I took hold of the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and brake them before your eyes.그래서 나는 두 돌판을 잡아 내 두 손에서 던져 너희가 보는 앞에서 깨뜨렸다.
18 I fell down before Yahweh, as at the first, forty days and forty nights. I neither ate bread nor drank water, because of all your sin which you sinned, in doing that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, to provoke him to anger.And I fell down before Jehovah, as at the first, forty days and forty nights; I did neither eat bread nor drink water; because of all your sin which ye sinned, in doing that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, to provoke him to anger.그리고 나는 처음처럼 여호와 앞에 엎드려 사십 일 사십 밤을 떡도 먹지 않고 물도 마시지 않았다. 이는 너희가 여호와께서 보시기에 악한 일을 행하여 그분을 진노하시게 한, 너희가 지은 모든 죄 때문이었다.
19 For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure with which Yahweh was angry against you to destroy you. But Yahweh listened to me that time also.For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, wherewith Jehovah was wroth against you to destroy you. But Jehovah hearkened unto me that time also.여호와께서 너희에게 노하셔서 너희를 멸하려 하실 만큼 그 진노와 맹렬한 분노가 두려웠기 때문이다. 그러나 여호와께서는 그때에도 내 말을 들어주셨다.
20 Yahweh was angry enough with Aaron to destroy him. I prayed for Aaron also at the same time.And Jehovah was very angry with Aaron to destroy him: and I prayed for Aaron also at the same time.여호와께서 아론에게도 심히 노하셔서 그를 멸하려 하셨으므로, 나는 그때에 아론을 위해서도 기도했다.
21 I took your sin, the calf which you had made, and burned it with fire, and crushed it, grinding it very small, until it was as fine as dust. I threw its dust into the brook that descended out of the mountain.And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, grinding it very small, until it was as fine as dust: and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount.나는 너희의 죄, 곧 너희가 만든 송아지를 가져다가 불로 태우고, 그것을 부수어 티끌처럼 곱게 갈아, 그 가루를 산에서 흘러내리는 시내에 던졌다.
22 At Taberah, at Massah, and at Kibroth Hattaavah you provoked Yahweh to wrath.And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibroth-hattaavah, ye provoked Jehovah to wrath.또 다베라와 맛사와 기브롯 핫다아와에서도 너희는 여호와를 진노하시게 했다.
23 When Yahweh sent you from Kadesh Barnea, saying, “ Go up and possess the land which I have given you,” you rebelled against the commandment of Yahweh your God, and you didn’t believe him or listen to his voice.And when Jehovah sent you from Kadesh-barnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you; then ye rebelled against the commandment of Jehovah your God, and ye believed him not, nor hearkened to his voice.여호와께서 가데스 바네아에서 너희를 보내시며 "올라가서 내가 너희에게 준 땅을 차지하라" 하셨을 때, 너희는 네 하나님 여호와의 명령을 거역하고 그분을 믿지 않았으며 그분의 음성에 순종하지도 않았다.
24 You have been rebellious against Yahweh from the day that I knew you.Ye have been rebellious against Jehovah from the day that I knew you.내가 너희를 알던 그 날부터 너희는 여호와를 거역해 왔다.
25 So I fell down before Yahweh the forty days and forty nights that I fell down, because Yahweh had said he would destroy you.So I fell down before Jehovah the forty days and forty nights that I fell down, because Jehovah had said he would destroy you.그래서 나는 여호와 앞에 엎드려 사십 일 사십 밤을 그대로 엎드려 있었으니, 이는 여호와께서 너희를 멸하겠다고 말씀하셨기 때문이다.
26 I prayed to Yahweh, and said, “ Lord Yahweh, don’t destroy your people and your inheritance that you have redeemed through your greatness, that you have brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.And I prayed unto Jehovah, and said, O Lord Jehovah, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, that thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, that thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.나는 여호와께 기도하며 이렇게 아뢰었다. "주 여호와여, 주의 위대하심으로 구속하시고 강한 손으로 이집트에서 이끌어 내신 주의 백성, 주의 기업을 멸하지 마소서.
27 Remember your servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Don’t look at the stubbornness of this people, nor at their wickedness, nor at their sin,Remember thy servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not unto the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin,주의 종 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱을 기억하시고, 이 백성의 완고함과 그 악함과 그 죄를 보지 마소서.
28 lest the land you brought us out from say, ‘ Because Yahweh was not able to bring them into the land which he promised to them, and because he hated them, he has brought them out to kill them in the wilderness.’lest the land whence thou broughtest us out say, Because Jehovah was not able to bring them into the land which he promised unto them, and because he hated them, he hath brought them out to slay them in the wilderness.주께서 우리를 이끌어 내신 그 땅이 '여호와께서 그들에게 약속하신 땅으로 그들을 인도하실 수 없었고, 또 그들을 미워하셨으므로 광야에서 죽이려고 이끌어 내셨다' 하고 말하지 않게 하소서.
29 Yet they are your people and your inheritance, which you brought out by your great power and by your outstretched arm.”Yet they are thy people and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest out by thy great power and by thine outstretched arm.그래도 그들은 주께서 큰 능력과 펴신 팔로 이끌어 내신 주의 백성이요 주의 기업이니이다."
