1 Now, Israel, listen to the statutes and to the ordinances which I teach you, to do them, that you may live and go in and possess the land which Yahweh, the God of your fathers, gives you.And now, O Israel, hearken unto the statutes and unto the ordinances, which I teach you, to do them; that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which Jehovah, the God of your fathers, giveth you.이제 이스라엘아, 내가 너희에게 가르쳐 지키게 하는 규례와 법도를 들으라. 그리하면 너희가 살고, 여호와 곧 너희 조상의 하나님께서 너희에게 주시는 땅에 들어가 그것을 차지하게 될 것이다.
2 You shall not add to the word which I command you, neither shall you take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of Yahweh your God which I command you.Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish from it, that ye may keep the commandments of Jehovah your God which I command you.내가 너희에게 명령하는 말씀에 너희는 더하지도 말고 거기서 빼지도 말라. 그리하여 내가 너희에게 명령하는 너희 하나님 여호와의 계명을 지키라.
3 Your eyes have seen what Yahweh did because of Baal Peor; for Yahweh your God has destroyed all the men who followed Baal Peor from among you.Your eyes have seen what Jehovah did because of Baal-peor; for all the men that followed Baal-peor, Jehovah thy God hath destroyed them from the midst of thee.여호와께서 바알브올 일로 행하신 일을 너희 눈으로 보았다. 바알브올을 따른 모든 사람을 너희 하나님 여호와께서 너희 가운데서 멸하셨다.
4 But you who were faithful to Yahweh your God are all alive today.But ye that did cleave unto Jehovah your God are alive every one of you this day.그러나 너희 하나님 여호와께 신실하게 붙어 있던 너희는 오늘까지 모두 살아 있다.
5 Behold, I have taught you statutes and ordinances, even as Yahweh my God commanded me, that you should do so in the middle of the land where you go in to possess it.Behold, I have taught you statutes and ordinances, even as Jehovah my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the midst of the land whither ye go in to possess it.보라, 내가 너희가 들어가 차지할 땅 한가운데서 행하도록, 나의 하나님 여호와께서 내게 명령하신 그대로 규례와 법도를 너희에게 가르쳤다.
6 Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who shall hear all these statutes and say, “ Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.”Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples, that shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.그러니 너희는 그것을 지켜 행하라. 이것이 여러 민족이 보기에 너희의 지혜요 너희의 명철이다. 그들이 이 모든 규례를 듣고 말하기를 "참으로 이 큰 민족은 지혜롭고 명철한 백성이로다" 할 것이다.
7 For what great nation is there that has a god so near to them as Yahweh our God is whenever we call on him?For what great nation is there, that hath a god so nigh unto them, as Jehovah our God is whensoever we call upon him?우리가 우리 하나님 여호와께 부르짖을 때마다 그분이 우리에게 가까이 계심같이, 신을 가까이 둔 큰 민족이 어디 있느냐?
8 What great nation is there that has statutes and ordinances so righteous as all this law which I set before you today?And what great nation is there, that hath statutes and ordinances so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?또 오늘 내가 너희 앞에 베푸는 이 모든 율법처럼 의로운 규례와 법도를 가진 큰 민족이 어디 있느냐?
9 Only be careful, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things which your eyes saw, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life; but make them known to your children and your children’s children —Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes saw, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life; but make them known unto thy children and thy children’s children;오직 너 자신을 삼가고 네 영혼을 부지런히 지켜, 네 눈으로 본 일들을 잊지 않도록 하며, 그것들이 네 평생에 네 마음에서 떠나지 않게 하라. 도리어 그것들을 네 자녀와 네 자손에게 알게 하라.
10 the day that you stood before Yahweh your God in Horeb, when Yahweh said to me, “ Assemble the people to me, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children.”the day that thou stoodest before Jehovah thy God in Horeb, when Jehovah said unto me, Assemble me the people, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.네가 호렙에서 너희 하나님 여호와 앞에 섰던 그 날, 여호와께서 내게 말씀하시기를 "내게 백성을 모으라. 내가 그들에게 내 말을 듣게 하리니, 그들이 땅에서 사는 모든 날 동안 나를 경외하기를 배우고, 또 그것을 그들의 자녀에게 가르치게 하리라" 하셨다.
11 You came near and stood under the mountain. The mountain burned with fire to the heart of the sky, with darkness, cloud, and thick darkness.And ye came near and stood under the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire unto the heart of heaven, with darkness, cloud, and thick darkness.너희가 가까이 나아와 산 아래에 섰는데, 그 산은 하늘 한가운데까지 불로 타올랐고 어둠과 구름과 짙은 흑암이 있었다.
12 Yahweh spoke to you out of the middle of the fire: you heard the voice of words, but you saw no form; you only heard a voice.And Jehovah spake unto you out of the midst of the fire: ye heard the voice of words, but ye saw no form; only ye heard a voice.여호와께서 불 한가운데서 너희에게 말씀하셨는데, 너희는 말씀의 음성은 들었으나 아무 형상도 보지 못하였고 다만 음성만 들었다.
13 He declared to you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even the ten commandments. He wrote them on two stone tablets.And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even the ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone.그분이 너희에게 지키라고 명령하신 그의 언약, 곧 십계명을 너희에게 선포하시고, 그것을 두 돌판에 기록하셨다.
14 Yahweh commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and ordinances, that you might do them in the land where you go over to possess it.And Jehovah commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and ordinances, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go over to possess it.또 여호와께서 그때 내게 명령하시기를, 너희가 건너가 차지할 땅에서 행하도록 규례와 법도를 너희에게 가르치라 하셨다.
15 Be very careful, for you saw no kind of form on the day that Yahweh spoke to you in Horeb out of the middle of the fire,Take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves; for ye saw no manner of form on the day that Jehovah spake unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire;그러므로 너희는 너희 자신을 매우 삼가라. 여호와께서 호렙에서 불 한가운데서 너희에게 말씀하시던 날 너희가 아무 형상도 보지 못하였기 때문이다.
16 lest you corrupt yourselves, and make yourself a carved image in the form of any figure, the likeness of male or female,lest ye corrupt yourselves, and make you a graven image in the form of any figure, the likeness of male or female,그러니 너희가 스스로 부패하여, 어떤 형상의 우상, 곧 남자나 여자의 모양을 새겨 만들지 말라.
17 the likeness of any animal that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged bird that flies in the sky,the likeness of any beast that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged bird that flieth in the heavens,땅 위의 어떤 짐승의 모양이나, 하늘을 나는 어떤 날개 달린 새의 모양이나,
18 the likeness of anything that creeps on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the water under the earth;the likeness of anything that creepeth on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the water under the earth;땅에 기는 어떤 것의 모양이나, 땅 아래 물속에 있는 어떤 물고기의 모양도 만들지 말라.
19 and lest you lift up your eyes to the sky, and when you see the sun and the moon and the stars, even all the army of the sky, you are drawn away and worship them, and serve them, which Yahweh your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole sky.and lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun and the moon and the stars, even all the host of heaven, thou be drawn away and worship them, and serve them, which Jehovah thy God hath allotted unto all the peoples under the whole heaven.또 네가 눈을 들어 하늘을 우러러 해와 달과 별들, 곧 하늘의 모든 무리를 볼 때에, 끌려가 그것들에게 절하고 섬기지 않도록 하라. 그것들은 너희 하나님 여호와께서 온 하늘 아래 모든 민족에게 나누어 주신 것이다.
20 But Yahweh has taken you, and brought you out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be to him a people of inheritance, as it is today.But Jehovah hath taken you, and brought you forth out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be unto him a people of inheritance, as at this day.그러나 여호와께서는 너희를 데려다가 쇠 풀무 곧 이집트에서 인도해 내사, 오늘과 같이 자기의 기업의 백성으로 삼으셨다.
21 Furthermore Yahweh was angry with me for your sakes, and swore that I should not go over the Jordan, and that I should not go in to that good land which Yahweh your God gives you for an inheritance;Furthermore Jehovah was angry with me for your sakes, and sware that I should not go over the Jordan, and that I should not go in unto that good land, which Jehovah thy God giveth thee for an inheritance:그뿐 아니라 여호와께서 너희로 인하여 내게 진노하시고, 내가 요단을 건너지 못하고 너희 하나님 여호와께서 너희에게 기업으로 주시는 그 좋은 땅에 들어가지 못하리라고 맹세하셨다.
22 but I must die in this land. I must not go over the Jordan, but you shall go over and possess that good land.but I must die in this land, I must not go over the Jordan; but ye shall go over, and possess that good land.나는 이 땅에서 죽고 요단을 건너지 못하나, 너희는 건너가 그 좋은 땅을 차지할 것이다.
23 Be careful, lest you forget the covenant of Yahweh your God, which he made with you, and make yourselves a carved image in the form of anything which Yahweh your God has forbidden you.Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of Jehovah your God, which he made with you, and make you a graven image in the form of anything which Jehovah thy God hath forbidden thee.너희는 너희 자신을 삼가, 너희 하나님 여호와께서 너희와 맺으신 언약을 잊지 말고, 너희 하나님 여호와께서 금하신 어떤 것의 형상으로도 새긴 우상을 만들지 말라.
24 For Yahweh your God is a devouring fire, a jealous God.For Jehovah thy God is a devouring fire, a jealous God.너희 하나님 여호와는 소멸하는 불이시요 질투하시는 하나님이시기 때문이다.
25 When you father children and children’s children, and you have been long in the land, and then corrupt yourselves, and make a carved image in the form of anything, and do that which is evil in Yahweh your God’s sight to provoke him to anger,When thou shalt beget children, and children’s children, and ye shall have been long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image in the form of anything, and shall do that which is evil in the sight of Jehovah thy God, to provoke him to anger;네가 자녀와 손자를 낳고 그 땅에서 오래 산 뒤에, 스스로 부패하여 어떤 것의 형상으로 새긴 우상을 만들고, 너희 하나님 여호와 보시기에 악을 행하여 그분의 진노를 일으키면,
26 I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that you will soon utterly perish from off the land which you go over the Jordan to possess it. You will not prolong your days on it, but will utterly be destroyed.I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over the Jordan to possess it; ye shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed.내가 오늘 하늘과 땅을 불러 너희에게 증거를 삼노니, 너희가 요단을 건너가 차지할 그 땅에서 너희가 속히 완전히 멸망할 것이다. 너희가 그 땅에서 날이 길지 못하고 완전히 멸절될 것이다.
27 Yahweh will scatter you among the peoples, and you will be left few in number among the nations where Yahweh will lead you away.And Jehovah will scatter you among the peoples, and ye shall be left few in number among the nations, whither Jehovah shall lead you away.여호와께서 너희를 여러 민족 가운데로 흩으실 것이며, 여호와께서 너희를 끌어가시는 그 나라들 가운데서 너희는 소수만 남게 될 것이다.
28 There you will serve gods, the work of men’s hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men’s hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.거기서 너희는 사람의 손으로 만든 신들, 곧 보지도 듣지도 먹지도 냄새 맡지도 못하는 나무와 돌을 섬기게 될 것이다.
29 But from there you shall seek Yahweh your God, and you will find him when you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul.But from thence ye shall seek Jehovah thy God, and thou shalt find him, when thou searchest after him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.그러나 너희가 거기서 너희 하나님 여호와를 찾되 마음을 다하고 뜻을 다하여 찾으면 만나게 될 것이다.
30 When you are in oppression, and all these things have come on you, in the latter days you shall return to Yahweh your God and listen to his voice.When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, in the latter days thou shalt return to Jehovah thy God, and hearken unto his voice:네가 환난 가운데 있고 이 모든 일이 네게 임할 때에, 마지막 날에 네가 너희 하나님 여호와께로 돌아와 그분의 음성을 들으리니,
31 For Yahweh your God is a merciful God. He will not fail you nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which he swore to them.for Jehovah thy God is a merciful God; he will not fail thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.너희 하나님 여호와는 긍휼하신 하나님이시므로 너를 버리지 않으시고 멸하지 않으시며, 너희 조상에게 맹세하신 언약도 잊지 않으실 것이다.
32 For ask now of the days that are past, which were before you, since the day that God created man on the earth, and from the one end of the sky to the other, whether there has been anything as great as this thing is, or has been heard like it?For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and from the one end of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been any such thing as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it?네가 있기 전 지나간 날들, 곧 하나님께서 사람을 땅에 창조하신 날부터 하늘 이 끝에서 저 끝까지 물어보라. 이같이 큰일이 있었느냐, 또 이같은 일을 들은 적이 있느냐?
33 Did a people ever hear the voice of God speaking out of the middle of the fire, as you have heard, and live?Did ever a people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and live?너처럼 어떤 백성이 불 한가운데서 말씀하시는 하나님의 음성을 듣고도 살아남은 적이 있느냐?
34 Or has God tried to go and take a nation for himself from among another nation, by trials, by signs, by wonders, by war, by a mighty hand, by an outstretched arm, and by great terrors, according to all that Yahweh your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?Or hath God assayed to go and take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by trials, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by an outstretched arm, and by great terrors, according to all that Jehovah your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?또 어떤 신이 시험과 표적과 기사와 전쟁과 강한 손과 펴신 팔과 큰 두려움으로, 곧 너희 하나님 여호와께서 이집트에서 너희 눈앞에 너희를 위하여 행하신 모든 일을 따라, 한 민족 가운데서 다른 민족을 데려내려고 한 적이 있느냐?
35 It was shown to you so that you might know that Yahweh is God. There is no one else besides him.Unto thee it was showed, that thou mightest know that Jehovah he is God; there is none else besides him.이것을 네게 보이신 것은, 여호와께서 하나님이시며 그분 외에는 다른 신이 없음을 네가 알게 하려 하심이다.
36 Out of heaven he made you to hear his voice, that he might instruct you. On earth he made you to see his great fire; and you heard his words out of the middle of the fire.Out of heaven he made thee to hear his voice, that he might instruct thee: and upon earth he made thee to see his great fire; and thou heardest his words out of the midst of the fire.여호와께서 너를 가르치시려고 하늘에서 그분의 음성을 듣게 하시고, 땅에서는 그분의 큰 불을 보게 하셨으며, 너는 불 한가운데서 그분의 말씀을 들었다.
37 Because he loved your fathers, therefore he chose their offspring after them, and brought you out with his presence, with his great power, out of Egypt;And because he loved thy fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought thee out with his presence, with his great power, out of Egypt;여호와께서 너희 조상을 사랑하셨으므로 그 후손을 택하시고, 친히 임재하사 큰 권능으로 너를 이집트에서 인도해 내셨다.
38 to drive out nations from before you greater and mightier than you, to bring you in, to give you their land for an inheritance, as it is today.to drive out nations from before thee greater and mightier than thou, to bring thee in, to give thee their land for an inheritance, as at this day.또 너보다 크고 강한 민족들을 네 앞에서 쫓아내시고, 너를 인도해 들이사 그들의 땅을 오늘과 같이 네게 기업으로 주려 하심이다.
39 Know therefore today, and take it to heart, that Yahweh himself is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath. There is no one else.Know therefore this day, and lay it to thy heart, that Jehovah he is God in heaven above and upon the earth beneath; there is none else.그러므로 오늘 너는 여호와께서 위로 하늘에서나 아래로 땅에서나 하나님이시요 다른 신이 없음을 알고 마음에 새기라.
40 You shall keep his statutes and his commandments which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which Yahweh your God gives you for all time.And thou shalt keep his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days in the land, which Jehovah thy God giveth thee, for ever.또 너는 오늘 내가 네게 명령하는 그분의 규례와 계명을 지키라. 그리하면 너와 네 후손이 잘되고, 너희 하나님 여호와께서 영원히 네게 주시는 그 땅에서 네 날이 길리라.
41 Then Moses set apart three cities beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise,Then Moses set apart three cities beyond the Jordan toward the sunrising;그때에 모세가 요단 건너편 해 뜨는 쪽으로 세 성읍을 구별하였다.
42 that the man slayer might flee there, who kills his neighbor unintentionally and didn’t hate him in time past, and that fleeing to one of these cities he might live:that the manslayer might flee thither, that slayeth his neighbor unawares, and hated him not in time past; and that fleeing unto one of these cities he might live:그것은 본래 미워하지 않던 이웃을 부지중에 죽인 사람이 그곳으로 피하여, 이 성읍들 가운데 하나로 도망하여 살게 하려는 것이었다.
43 Bezer in the wilderness, in the plain country, for the Reubenites; and Ramoth in Gilead for the Gadites; and Golan in Bashan for the Manassites.namely, Bezer in the wilderness, in the plain country, for the Reubenites; and Ramoth in Gilead, for the Gadites; and Golan in Bashan, for the Manassites.곧 르우벤 지파를 위하여 평지 광야에 있는 베셀, 갓 지파를 위하여 길르앗의 라못, 므낫세 지파를 위하여 바산의 골란이었다.
44 This is the law which Moses set before the children of Israel.And this is the law which Moses set before the children of Israel:이것은 모세가 이스라엘 자손 앞에 베푼 율법이다.
45 These are the testimonies, and the statutes, and the ordinances which Moses spoke to the children of Israel when they came out of Egypt,these are the testimonies, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which Moses spake unto the children of Israel, when they came forth out of Egypt,이것은 이스라엘 자손이 이집트에서 나온 뒤에 모세가 그들에게 전한 증거의 말씀과 규례와 법도이니,
46 beyond the Jordan, in the valley opposite Beth Peor, in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon, whom Moses and the children of Israel struck when they came out of Egypt.beyond the Jordan, in the valley over against Beth-peor, in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon, whom Moses and the children of Israel smote, when they came forth out of Egypt.요단 건너편 벧브올 맞은편 골짜기, 곧 헤스본에 살던 아모리 사람의 왕 시혼의 땅에서였다. 모세와 이스라엘 자손은 이집트에서 나온 뒤에 그를 쳐서,
47 They took possession of his land and the land of Og king of Bashan, the two kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise;And they took his land in possession, and the land of Og king of Bashan, the two kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Jordan toward the sunrising;그의 땅과 바산 왕 옥의 땅, 곧 요단 건너편 해 뜨는 쪽에 있던 아모리 사람의 두 왕의 땅을 차지하였다.
48 from Aroer, which is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon, even to Mount Siyon ( also called Hermon ),from Aroer, which is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon, even unto mount Sion ( the same is Hermon ),그 땅은 아르논 골짜기 가에 있는 아로엘에서 시온 산 곧 헤르몬에 이르고,
49 and all the Arabah beyond the Jordan eastward, even to the sea of the Arabah, under the slopes of Pisgah.and all the Arabah beyond the Jordan eastward, even unto the sea of the Arabah, under the slopes of Pisgah.또 요단 건너편 동쪽 온 아라바, 곧 비스가 비탈 아래에 있는 아라바 바다까지였다.
