1 When Yahweh your God brings you into the land where you go to possess it, and casts out many nations before you — the Hittite, the Girgashite, the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite — seven nations greater and mightier than you;When Jehovah thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and shall cast out many nations before thee, the Hittite, and the Girgashite, and the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;당신의 하나님 여호와께서 당신을 들어가 차지하려는 그 땅으로 인도하시고, 당신 앞에서 여러 민족, 곧 헷 사람과 기르가스 사람과 아모리 사람과 가나안 사람과 브리스 사람과 히위 사람과 여부스 사람, 곧 당신보다 크고 강한 일곱 민족을 쫓아내실 때에,
2 and when Yahweh your God delivers them up before you, and you strike them, then you shall utterly destroy them. You shall make no covenant with them, nor show mercy to them.and when Jehovah thy God shall deliver them up before thee, and thou shalt smite them; then thou shalt utterly destroy them: thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor show mercy unto them;당신의 하나님 여호와께서 그들을 당신에게 넘겨주셔서 당신이 그들을 치게 하실 것이니, 그때에 당신은 그들을 완전히 진멸하여야 합니다. 그들과 언약을 맺지 말고 그들에게 긍휼을 베풀지 마십시오.
3 You shall not make marriages with them. You shall not give your daughter to his son, nor shall you take his daughter for your son.neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.그들과 혼인 관계를 맺지 마십시오. 당신의 딸을 그들의 아들에게 주지 말고, 그들의 딸을 당신의 아들에게 데려오지 마십시오.
4 For that would turn away your sons from following me, that they may serve other gods. So Yahweh’s anger would be kindled against you, and he would destroy you quickly.For he will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of Jehovah be kindled against you, and he will destroy thee quickly.그들이 당신의 아들을 꾀어 나를 따르지 않게 하고 다른 신들을 섬기게 할 것이니, 그러면 여호와의 진노가 당신들에게 불붙어 당신을 속히 멸하실 것입니다.
5 But you shall deal with them like this: you shall break down their altars, dash their pillars in pieces, cut down their Asherah poles, and burn their engraved images with fire.But thus shall ye deal with them: ye shall break down their altars, and dash in pieces their pillars, and hew down their Asherim, and burn their graven images with fire.오히려 당신은 그들에게 이렇게 행하십시오. 그들의 제단을 헐고, 그들의 우상 기둥을 부수며, 그들의 아세라 목상을 찍고, 그들의 새긴 우상들을 불사르십시오.
6 For you are a holy people to Yahweh your God. Yahweh your God has chosen you to be a people for his own possession, above all peoples who are on the face of the earth.For thou art a holy people unto Jehovah thy God: Jehovah thy God hath chosen thee to be a people for his own possession, above all peoples that are upon the face of the earth.당신은 당신의 하나님 여호와께 거룩한 백성이기 때문입니다. 당신의 하나님 여호와께서 땅 위의 모든 민족 가운데서 당신을 친히 소유하실 백성으로 택하셨습니다.
7 Yahweh didn’t set his love on you nor choose you, because you were more in number than any people; for you were the fewest of all peoples;Jehovah did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all peoples:여호와께서 당신들에게 사랑을 두시고 택하신 것은 당신들이 어느 민족보다 수가 많았기 때문이 아닙니다. 사실 당신들은 모든 민족 가운데서 가장 적은 무리였습니다.
8 but because Yahweh loves you, and because he desires to keep the oath which he swore to your fathers, Yahweh has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.but because Jehovah loveth you, and because he would keep the oath which he sware unto your fathers, hath Jehovah brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.그러나 여호와께서 당신들을 사랑하시고, 또 당신들의 조상에게 맹세하신 그 언약을 지키려 하셨기 때문에, 여호와께서 강한 손으로 당신들을 이끌어 내시고 종살이하던 집에서, 곧 이집트 왕 바로의 손에서 당신들을 속량하셨습니다.
9 Know therefore that Yahweh your God himself is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and loving kindness to a thousand generations with those who love him and keep his commandments,Know therefore that Jehovah thy God, he is God, the faithful God, who keepeth covenant and lovingkindness with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations,그러므로 당신은 알아야 합니다. 당신의 하나님 여호와, 그분은 하나님이시며 신실하신 하나님이십니다. 그분은 자기를 사랑하고 그 계명을 지키는 자들에게 천 대까지 언약과 인자하심을 지키시는 분입니다.
10 and repays those who hate him to their face, to destroy them. He will not be slack to him who hates him. He will repay him to his face.and repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.그러나 자기를 미워하는 자들에게는 그 얼굴에 직접 갚아 멸하시니, 자기를 미워하는 자에게 더디 하지 않으시고 그 얼굴에 직접 갚으실 것입니다.
11 You shall therefore keep the commandments, the statutes, and the ordinances which I command you today, to do them.Thou shalt therefore keep the commandment, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which I command thee this day, to do them.그러므로 당신은 내가 오늘 당신에게 명하는 그 계명과 규례와 법도를 지켜 행하여야 합니다.
12 It shall happen, because you listen to these ordinances and keep and do them, that Yahweh your God will keep with you the covenant and the loving kindness which he swore to your fathers.And it shall come to pass, because ye hearken to these ordinances, and keep and do them, that Jehovah thy God will keep with thee the covenant and the lovingkindness which he sware unto thy fathers:당신이 이 법도들을 듣고 지켜 행하면, 당신의 하나님 여호와께서 당신의 조상에게 맹세하신 그 언약과 인자하심을 당신에게 지켜 주실 것입니다.
13 He will love you, bless you, and multiply you. He will also bless the fruit of your body and the fruit of your ground, your grain and your new wine and your oil, the increase of your livestock and the young of your flock, in the land which he swore to your fathers to give you.and he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee; he will also bless the fruit of thy body and the fruit of thy ground, thy grain and thy new wine and thine oil, the increase of thy cattle and the young of thy flock, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.그분은 당신을 사랑하시고 복 주시며 번성하게 하실 것입니다. 또한 그분은 당신의 조상에게 주리라 맹세하신 그 땅에서 당신의 몸의 소생과 토지의 소산, 곧 당신의 곡식과 새 포도주와 기름과 소의 새끼와 양 떼의 새끼에게도 복을 주실 것입니다.
14 You will be blessed above all peoples. There won’t be male or female barren among you, or among your livestock.Thou shalt be blessed above all peoples: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.당신은 모든 민족보다 더 복을 받을 것이며, 당신들 가운데나 당신들의 가축 가운데 임신하지 못하는 수컷이나 암컷이 없을 것입니다.
15 Yahweh will take away from you all sickness; and he will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which you know, on you, but will lay them on all those who hate you.And Jehovah will take away from thee all sickness; and none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, will he put upon thee, but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.여호와께서 당신에게서 모든 질병을 거두어 가실 것이며, 당신이 아는 이집트의 그 악한 질병들을 당신에게 두지 않으시고, 당신을 미워하는 모든 자에게 내리실 것입니다.
16 You shall consume all the peoples whom Yahweh your God shall deliver to you. Your eye shall not pity them. You shall not serve their gods; for that would be a snare to you.And thou shalt consume all the peoples that Jehovah thy God shall deliver unto thee; thine eye shall not pity them: neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto thee.당신은 당신의 하나님 여호와께서 당신에게 넘겨주실 모든 민족을 진멸하여야 하며, 당신의 눈이 그들을 불쌍히 여기지 마십시오. 또한 그들의 신들을 섬기지 마십시오. 그것이 당신에게 올무가 될 것입니다.
17 If you shall say in your heart, “These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them?”If thou shalt say in thy heart, These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them?당신이 마음속으로 "이 민족들이 나보다 많으니 내가 어떻게 그들을 쫓아낼 수 있겠는가?" 하고 말할지라도,
18 you shall not be afraid of them. You shall remember well what Yahweh your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt:thou shalt not be afraid of them: thou shalt well remember what Jehovah thy God did unto Pharaoh, and unto all Egypt;당신은 그들을 두려워하지 마십시오. 당신의 하나님 여호와께서 바로와 온 이집트에 행하신 일을 똑똑히 기억하십시오.
19 the great trials which your eyes saw, the signs, the wonders, the mighty hand, and the outstretched arm, by which Yahweh your God brought you out. So shall Yahweh your God do to all the peoples of whom you are afraid.the great trials which thine eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the outstretched arm, whereby Jehovah thy God brought thee out: so shall Jehovah thy God do unto all the peoples of whom thou art afraid.당신의 눈으로 본 큰 시험들과 표적과 기사와 강한 손과 펴신 팔을 기억하십시오. 당신의 하나님 여호와께서 그것으로 당신을 이끌어 내셨으니, 당신이 두려워하는 모든 민족에게도 당신의 하나님 여호와께서 그와 같이 행하실 것입니다.
20 Moreover Yahweh your God will send the hornet among them, until those who are left, and hide themselves, perish from before you.Moreover Jehovah thy God will send the hornet among them, until they that are left, and hide themselves, perish from before thee.또한 당신의 하나님 여호와께서 그들 가운데 왕벌을 보내셔서, 남아서 숨은 자들까지 당신 앞에서 멸망하게 하실 것입니다.
21 You shall not be scared of them; for Yahweh your God is among you, a great and awesome God.Thou shalt not be affrighted at them; for Jehovah thy God is in the midst of thee, a great God and a terrible.당신은 그들을 무서워하지 마십시오. 당신의 하나님 여호와, 곧 크고 두려우신 하나님께서 당신 가운데 계시기 때문입니다.
22 Yahweh your God will cast out those nations before you little by little. You may not consume them at once, lest the animals of the field increase on you.And Jehovah thy God will cast out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.당신의 하나님 여호와께서 그 민족들을 당신 앞에서 조금씩 쫓아내실 것이니, 당신이 그들을 단번에 진멸하지 못할 것입니다. 그것은 들짐승이 당신에게 너무 많아질까 함입니다.
23 But Yahweh your God will deliver them up before you, and will confuse them with a great confusion, until they are destroyed.But Jehovah thy God will deliver them up before thee, and will discomfit them with a great discomfiture, until they be destroyed.그러나 당신의 하나님 여호와께서 그들을 당신에게 넘겨주시고, 그들이 멸망할 때까지 큰 혼란으로 그들을 어지럽게 하실 것입니다.
24 He will deliver their kings into your hand, and you shall make their name perish from under the sky. No one will be able to stand before you until you have destroyed them.And he will deliver their kings into thy hand, and thou shalt make their name to perish from under heaven: there shall no man be able to stand before thee, until thou have destroyed them.그분은 그들의 왕들을 당신의 손에 넘겨주실 것이니, 당신은 그들의 이름을 하늘 아래에서 사라지게 할 것입니다. 당신이 그들을 멸할 때까지 아무도 당신 앞에 설 수 없을 것입니다.
25 You shall burn the engraved images of their gods with fire. You shall not covet the silver or the gold that is on them, nor take it for yourself, lest you be snared in it; for it is an abomination to Yahweh your God.The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not covet the silver or the gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein; for it is an abomination to Jehovah thy God.당신은 그들의 신들을 새긴 우상들을 불사르십시오. 그 위에 입힌 은이나 금을 탐내지 말고 그것을 당신을 위해 취하지 마십시오. 그것이 당신에게 올무가 될까 함이니, 그것은 당신의 하나님 여호와께 가증한 것입니다.
26 You shall not bring an abomination into your house and become a devoted thing like it. You shall utterly detest it. You shall utterly abhor it; for it is a devoted thing.And thou shalt not bring an abomination into thy house, and become a devoted thing like unto it: thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a devoted thing.당신은 가증한 것을 당신의 집에 들이지 말고, 그것처럼 진멸될 것이 되지 마십시오. 당신은 그것을 철저히 꺼리고 철저히 혐오하십시오. 그것은 진멸되어야 할 것이기 때문입니다.
