2 Yahweh spoke to me, saying,And Jehovah spake unto me, saying,여호와께서 내게 말씀하셨습니다.
3 “ You have encircled this mountain long enough. Turn northward.Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward."너희가 이 산을 빙 돌아 다닌 지 이미 오래되었으니, 이제 북쪽으로 방향을 돌려라.
4 Command the people, saying, ‘ You are to pass through the border of your brothers, the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir; and they will be afraid of you. Therefore be careful.And command thou the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the border of your brethren the children of Esau, that dwell in Seir; and they will be afraid of you. Take ye good heed unto yourselves therefore;백성에게 이렇게 명령하여라. '너희는 세일에 사는 너희 형제 에서 자손의 영토를 지나가게 될 것이다. 그들이 너희를 두려워할 것이니, 너희는 스스로 매우 조심하여라.
5 Don’t contend with them; for I will not give you any of their land, no, not so much as for the sole of the foot to tread on, because I have given Mount Seir to Esau for a possession.contend not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as for the sole of the foot to tread on; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau for a possession.그들과 다투지 마라. 내가 그들의 땅을 너희에게 한 치도, 발바닥으로 디딜 만큼도 주지 않을 것이다. 이는 내가 세일 산을 에서에게 소유로 주었기 때문이다.
6 You shall purchase food from them for money, that you may eat. You shall also buy water from them for money, that you may drink.’”Ye shall purchase food of them for money, that ye may eat; and ye shall also buy water of them for money, that ye may drink.너희는 그들에게서 돈을 주고 먹을 양식을 사서 먹고, 또 돈을 주고 마실 물을 사서 마셔라.'"
7 For Yahweh your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He has known your walking through this great wilderness. These forty years, Yahweh your God has been with you. You have lacked nothing.For Jehovah thy God hath blessed thee in all the work of thy hand; he hath known thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years Jehovah thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.너희 하나님 여호와께서 너희가 하는 모든 일에 복을 주셨고, 이 광대한 광야를 지나는 너희의 길을 다 알고 계셨습니다. 이 사십 년 동안 너희 하나님 여호와께서 너희와 함께하셨으므로, 너희에게 부족함이 없었습니다.
8 So we passed by from our brothers, the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir, from the way of the Arabah from Elath and from Ezion Geber. We turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.So we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, that dwell in Seir, from the way of the Arabah from Elath and from Ezion-geber. And we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.그래서 우리는 세일에 사는 우리 형제 에서 자손에게서 떠나, 엘랏과 에시온게벨에서 이어지는 아라바 길을 지나갔습니다. 우리는 방향을 돌려 모압 광야 길로 나아갔습니다.
9 Yahweh said to me, “Don’t bother Moab, neither contend with them in battle; for I will not give you any of his land for a possession, because I have given Ar to the children of Lot for a possession.”And Jehovah said unto me, Vex not Moab, neither contend with them in battle; for I will not give thee of his land for a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession.여호와께서 내게 말씀하셨습니다. "모압을 괴롭히지 말고, 그들과 싸우려고 다투지도 마라. 내가 그 땅을 너희에게 소유로 주지 않을 것이다. 이는 내가 아르를 롯 자손에게 소유로 주었기 때문이다."
10 ( The Emim lived there before, a great and numerous people, and tall as the Anakim.( The Emim dwelt therein aforetime, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakim:(전에는 에밈 사람들이 그곳에 살았는데, 그들은 아낙 사람들처럼 크고 많고 키가 큰 백성이었습니다.
11 These also are considered to be Rephaim, as the Anakim; but the Moabites call them Emim.these also are accounted Rephaim, as the Anakim; but the Moabites call them Emim.그들도 아낙 사람들처럼 르바임으로 여겨졌으나, 모압 사람들은 그들을 에밈이라 불렀습니다.
12 The Horites also lived in Seir in the past, but the children of Esau succeeded them. They destroyed them from before them, and lived in their place, as Israel did to the land of his possession, which Yahweh gave to them.)The Horites also dwelt in Seir aforetime, but the children of Esau succeeded them; and they destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel did unto the land of his possession, which Jehovah gave unto them ).또 전에는 호리 사람들이 세일에 살았으나, 에서 자손이 그들을 뒤이어 차지하였습니다. 이스라엘이 여호와께서 주신 자기 소유의 땅에 한 것처럼, 에서 자손도 호리 사람들을 자기들 앞에서 멸하고 그 자리에 살게 되었습니다.)
13 “ Now rise up and cross over the brook Zered.” We went over the brook Zered.Now rise up, and get you over the brook Zered. And we went over the brook Zered."이제 일어나 세렛 시내를 건너라." 그래서 우리는 세렛 시내를 건넜습니다.
14 The days in which we came from Kadesh Barnea until we had come over the brook Zered were thirty-eight years, until all the generation of the men of war were consumed from the middle of the camp, as Yahweh swore to them.And the days in which we came from Kadesh-barnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, were thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were consumed from the midst of the camp, as Jehovah sware unto them.우리가 가데스 바네아를 떠난 때부터 세렛 시내를 건널 때까지 삼십팔 년이 걸렸으며, 그동안 그 세대의 모든 군사가 여호와께서 그들에게 맹세하신 대로 진영 가운데서 다 사라졌습니다.
15 Moreover Yahweh’s hand was against them, to destroy them from the middle of the camp, until they were consumed.Moreover the hand of Jehovah was against them, to destroy them from the midst of the camp, until they were consumed.참으로 여호와의 손이 그들을 치셔서, 진영 가운데서 그들을 멸하시기까지 그렇게 하셨습니다.
16 So, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,이렇게 모든 군사가 백성 가운데서 죽어 사라졌을 때,
17 Yahweh spoke to me, saying,that Jehovah spake unto me, saying,여호와께서 내게 말씀하셨습니다.
18 “ You are to pass over Ar, the border of Moab, today.Thou art this day to pass over Ar, the border of Moab:"너는 오늘 모압의 영토인 아르를 지나갈 것이다.
19 When you come near the border of the children of Ammon, don’t bother them, nor contend with them; for I will not give you any of the land of the children of Ammon for a possession, because I have given it to the children of Lot for a possession.”and when thou comest nigh over against the children of Ammon, vex them not, nor contend with them; for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon for a possession; because I have given it unto the children of Lot for a possession.네가 암몬 자손에게 가까이 이르거든, 그들을 괴롭히지 말고 그들과 다투지도 마라. 내가 암몬 자손의 땅을 너희에게 소유로 주지 않을 것이다. 이는 내가 그것을 롯 자손에게 소유로 주었기 때문이다."
20 ( That also is considered a land of Rephaim. Rephaim lived there in the past, but the Ammonites call them Zamzummim,( That also is accounted a land of Rephaim: Rephaim dwelt therein aforetime; but the Ammonites call them Zamzummim,(그곳도 르바임의 땅으로 여겨졌습니다. 전에는 르바임이 그곳에 살았는데, 암몬 사람들은 그들을 삼숨밈이라 불렀습니다.
21 a great people, many, and tall, as the Anakim; but Yahweh destroyed them from before Israel, and they succeeded them, and lived in their place,a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakim; but Jehovah destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead;그들은 아낙 사람들처럼 크고 많고 키가 큰 백성이었으나, 여호와께서 암몬 사람들 앞에서 그들을 멸하셨고, 암몬 사람들이 그들을 뒤이어 그 자리에 살게 되었습니다.
22 as he did for the children of Esau who dwell in Seir, when he destroyed the Horites from before them; and they succeeded them, and lived in their place even to this day.as he did for the children of Esau, that dwell in Seir, when he destroyed the Horites from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this day.이는 여호와께서 세일에 사는 에서 자손을 위하여 그들 앞에서 호리 사람들을 멸하셔서, 에서 자손이 그들을 뒤이어 오늘날까지 그 자리에 살게 하신 것과 같습니다.
23 Then the Avvim, who lived in villages as far as Gaza: the Caphtorim, who came out of Caphtor, destroyed them and lived in their place.)And the Avvim, that dwelt in villages as far as Gaza, the Caphtorim, that came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)또 가사까지 여러 마을에 살던 아위 사람들은, 갑돌에서 나온 갑돌 사람들이 그들을 멸하고 그 자리에 살게 되었습니다.)
24 “ Rise up, take your journey, and pass over the valley of the Arnon. Behold, I have given into your hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land; begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the valley of the Arnon: behold, I have given into thy hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land; begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle."일어나 길을 떠나 아르논 골짜기를 건너라. 보아라, 내가 헤스본 왕 아모리 사람 시혼과 그의 땅을 네 손에 넘겨주었으니, 그 땅을 차지하기 시작하고 그와 싸워 다투어라.
25 Today I will begin to put the dread of you and the fear of you on the peoples who are under the whole sky, who shall hear the report of you, and shall tremble and be in anguish because of you.”This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the peoples that are under the whole heaven, who shall hear the report of thee, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.오늘부터 내가 온 하늘 아래 있는 민족들에게 너에 대한 두려움과 무서움을 두기 시작할 것이다. 그들이 너의 소문을 듣고 떨며, 너 때문에 괴로워할 것이다."
26 I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth to Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,그래서 나는 그데못 광야에서 헤스본 왕 시혼에게 화평의 말로 사신을 보내어 말하였습니다.
27 “ Let me pass through your land. I will go along by the highway. I will turn neither to the right hand nor to the left.Let me pass through thy land: I will go along by the highway, I will turn neither unto the right hand nor to the left."당신의 땅을 지나가게 해 주십시오. 나는 큰길로만 갈 것이며, 오른쪽으로도 왼쪽으로도 치우치지 않겠습니다.
28 You shall sell me food for money, that I may eat; and give me water for money, that I may drink. Just let me pass through on my feet,Thou shalt sell me food for money, that I may eat; and give me water for money, that I may drink: only let me pass through on my feet;당신은 내게 돈을 받고 먹을 양식을 팔고, 돈을 받고 마실 물을 주십시오. 다만 내가 걸어서 지나가게만 해 주십시오.
29 as the children of Esau who dwell in Seir, and the Moabites who dwell in Ar, did to me, until I pass over the Jordan into the land which Yahweh our God gives us.”as the children of Esau that dwell in Seir, and the Moabites that dwell in Ar, did unto me; until I shall pass over the Jordan into the land which Jehovah our God giveth us.세일에 사는 에서 자손과 아르에 사는 모압 사람들이 내게 해 준 것처럼 해 주십시오. 그리하여 내가 요단을 건너 우리 하나님 여호와께서 우리에게 주시는 땅으로 들어가게 해 주십시오."
30 But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him, for Yahweh your God hardened his spirit and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into your hand, as it is today.But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him; for Jehovah thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as at this day.그러나 헤스본 왕 시혼은 우리가 자기 땅을 지나가는 것을 허락하지 않았습니다. 이는 너희 하나님 여호와께서 그를 너희 손에 넘겨주시려고, 오늘날과 같이 그의 영을 완강하게 하시고 그의 마음을 굳어지게 하셨기 때문입니다.
31 Yahweh said to me, “ Behold, I have begun to deliver up Sihon and his land before you. Begin to possess, that you may inherit his land.”And Jehovah said unto me, Behold, I have begun to deliver up Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest inherit his land.여호와께서 내게 말씀하셨습니다. "보아라, 내가 시혼과 그의 땅을 네 앞에 넘겨주기 시작하였으니, 너는 그 땅을 차지하기 시작하여 그의 땅을 유업으로 받아라."
32 Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Jahaz.Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, unto battle at Jahaz.그러자 시혼이 자기 모든 백성을 거느리고 나와 야하스에서 우리와 싸우려고 맞섰습니다.
33 Yahweh our God delivered him up before us; and we struck him, his sons, and all his people.And Jehovah our God delivered him up before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.우리 하나님 여호와께서 그를 우리 앞에 넘겨주셨으므로, 우리는 그와 그의 아들들과 그의 모든 백성을 쳤습니다.
34 We took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed every inhabited city, with the women and the little ones. 35 Only the livestock we took for plunder for ourselves, with the plunder of the cities which we had taken.only the cattle we took for a prey unto ourselves, with the spoil of the cities which we had taken.다만 가축과 우리가 빼앗은 성읍들의 전리품만은 우리가 노략하였습니다.
36 From Aroer, which is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon, and the city that is in the valley, even to Gilead, there was not a city too high for us. Yahweh our God delivered up all before us.From Aroer, which is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon, and from the city that is in the valley, even unto Gilead, there was not a city too high for us; Jehovah our God delivered up all before us:아르논 골짜기 가장자리에 있는 아로엘과 골짜기 가운데 있는 성읍에서부터 길르앗에 이르기까지, 우리가 차지하지 못할 만큼 높은 성읍은 하나도 없었습니다. 우리 하나님 여호와께서 그 모든 것을 우리 앞에 넘겨주셨습니다.
37 Only to the land of the children of Ammon you didn’t come near: all the banks of the river Jabbok, and the cities of the hill country, and wherever Yahweh our God forbade us.only to the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not near; all the side of the river Jabbok, and the cities of the hill-country, and wheresoever Jehovah our God forbade us.다만 너희는 암몬 자손의 땅, 곧 얍복 강의 온 가장자리와 산지의 성읍들과 우리 하나님 여호와께서 금하신 모든 곳에는 가까이 가지 않았습니다.
