2 during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John, the son of Zacharias, in the wilderness.in the high-priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.안나스와 가야바가 대제사장으로 있을 때에, 하나님의 말씀이 광야에서 사가랴의 아들 요한에게 임했습니다.
3 He came into all the region around the Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for remission of sins.And he came into all the region round about the Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance unto remission of sins;요한은 요단 강 주변 온 지역으로 다니며 죄 사함을 위한 회개의 세례를 전파했습니다.
4 As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, “ The voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘ Make ready the way of the Lord. Make his paths straight.as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make ye ready the way of the Lord, Make his paths straight.이것은 선지자 이사야의 말씀이 기록된 책에 쓰인 대로입니다. "광야에서 외치는 이의 소리가 있어 이르되, '주의 길을 예비하라. 그의 길을 곧게 하라.
5 Every valley will be filled. Every mountain and hill will be brought low. The crooked will become straight, and the rough ways smooth.Every valley shall be filled, And every mountain and hill shall be brought low; And the crooked shall become straight, And the rough ways smooth;모든 골짜기는 메워지고, 모든 산과 언덕은 낮아질 것이며, 굽은 것은 곧아지고, 험한 길은 평탄해질 것이다.
6 All flesh will see God’s salvation.’”And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.모든 사람이 하나님의 구원을 보게 될 것이다.'"
7 He said therefore to the multitudes who went out to be baptized by him, “ You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?He said therefore to the multitudes that went out to be baptized of him, Ye offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?그래서 요한은 세례를 받으러 나아오는 무리에게 말했습니다. "독사의 자식들아, 누가 너희에게 다가올 진노를 피하라고 일러 주더냐?
8 Therefore produce fruits worthy of repentance, and don’ t begin to say among yourselves, ‘ We have Abraham for our father;’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones!Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.그러므로 회개에 합당한 열매를 맺으라. 그리고 속으로 '우리에게는 아브라함이 우리 조상이다'라고 말하기 시작하지 말라. 내가 너희에게 이르노니, 하나님은 이 돌들로도 아브라함의 자손을 일으키실 수 있다!
9 Even now the ax also lies at the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that doesn’ t produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.”And even now the axe also lieth at the root of the trees: every tree therefore that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.이제 도끼가 이미 나무뿌리에 놓여 있다. 그러므로 좋은 열매를 맺지 못하는 나무마다 찍혀서 불에 던져질 것이다."
10 The multitudes asked him, “ What then must we do?”And the multitudes asked him, saying, What then must we do?무리가 요한에게 물었습니다. "그러면 우리가 무엇을 해야 합니까?"
11 He answered them, “ He who has two coats, let him give to him who has none. He who has food, let him do likewise.”And he answered and said unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath food, let him do likewise.그가 그들에게 대답했습니다. "옷 두 벌 가진 사람은 없는 사람에게 나누어 주라. 먹을 것을 가진 사람도 그와 같이 하라."
12 Tax collectors also came to be baptized, and they said to him, “ Teacher, what must we do?”And there came also publicans to be baptized, and they said unto him, Teacher, what must we do?세금 걷는 사람들도 세례를 받으러 와서 그에게 말했습니다. "선생님, 우리는 무엇을 해야 합니까?"
13 He said to them, “ Collect no more than that which is appointed to you.”And he said unto them, Extort no more than that which is appointed you.그가 그들에게 말했습니다. "너희에게 정해진 것보다 더 거두지 말라."
14 Soldiers also asked him, saying, “ What about us? What must we do?” He said to them, “Extort from no one by violence, neither accuse anyone wrongfully. Be content with your wages.”And soldiers also asked him, saying, And we, what must we do? And he said unto them, Extort from no man by violence, neither accuse any one wrongfully; and be content with your wages.군인들도 그에게 물었습니다. "그러면 우리는 무엇을 해야 합니까?" 그가 그들에게 말했습니다. "아무에게도 폭력으로 빼앗지 말고, 거짓으로 고발하지 말며, 너희 받는 급료로 만족하라."
15 As the people were in expectation, and all men reasoned in their hearts concerning John, whether perhaps he was the Christ,And as the people were in expectation, and all men reasoned in their hearts concerning John, whether haply he were the Christ;백성이 기대에 차 있었고, 모든 사람이 요한이 혹시 그리스도가 아닌가 하여 마음속으로 생각하고 있었습니다.
16 John answered them all, “ I indeed baptize you with water, but he comes who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to loosen. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and fire.John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but there cometh he that is mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit and in fire:요한이 그들 모두에게 대답했습니다. "나는 너희에게 물로 세례를 주지만, 나보다 더 능력 있으신 분이 오신다. 나는 그분의 신발 끈을 풀 자격도 없다. 그분은 너희에게 성령과 불로 세례를 주실 것이다.
17 His winnowing fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor, and will gather the wheat into his barn; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”whose fan is in his hand, thoroughly to cleanse his threshing-floor, and to gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire.그분의 손에는 키가 들려 있어, 자기 타작마당을 깨끗이 정리하셔서 알곡은 곳간에 모아들이시고, 쭉정이는 꺼지지 않는 불에 태우실 것이다."
18 Then with many other exhortations he preached good news to the people,With many other exhortations therefore preached he good tidings unto the people;이렇게 요한은 다른 많은 권면으로 백성에게 복음을 전했습니다.
19 but Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias, his brother’s wife, and for all the evil things which Herod had done,but Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother’s wife, and for all the evil things which Herod had done,그러나 분봉왕 헤롯은 자기 동생의 아내 헤로디아의 일과 자기가 저지른 모든 악한 일로 인해 요한에게 책망을 받자,
20 added this also to them all, that he shut up John in prison.added this also to them all, that he shut up John in prison.거기에 이 일까지 더하여 요한을 옥에 가두었습니다.
21 Now when all the people were baptized, Jesus also had been baptized and was praying. The sky was opened,Now it came to pass, when all the people were baptized, that, Jesus also having been baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,모든 백성이 세례를 받을 때에, 예수님도 세례를 받으시고 기도하고 계셨는데, 하늘이 열렸습니다.
22 and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form like a dove on him; and a voice came out of the sky, saying “ You are my beloved Son. In you I am well pleased.”and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form, as a dove, upon him, and a voice came out of heaven, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.그리고 성령이 비둘기 같은 형체로 그분 위에 내려왔으며, 하늘에서 소리가 들려 이르기를 "너는 내 사랑하는 아들이다. 내가 너를 기뻐한다" 하셨습니다.
23 Jesus himself, when he began to teach, was about thirty years old, being the son ( as was supposed ) of Joseph, the son of Heli,And Jesus himself, when he began to teach, was about thirty years of age, being the son ( as was supposed ) of Joseph, the son of Heli,예수님께서 가르치기 시작하셨을 때에 나이가 약 서른 살쯤 되셨는데, 사람들이 알기로는 요셉의 아들이셨습니다. 요셉은 헬리의 아들이요,
24 the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, the son of Melchi, the son of Jannai, the son of Joseph,the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, the son of Melchi, the son of Jannai, the son of Joseph,헬리는 맛닷의 아들이요, 맛닷은 레위의 아들이요, 레위는 멜기의 아들이요, 멜기는 얀나의 아들이요, 얀나는 요셉의 아들이요,
25 the son of Mattathias, the son of Amos, the son of Nahum, the son of Esli, the son of Naggai,the son of Mattathias, the son of Amos, the son of Nahum, the son of Esli, the son of Naggai,요셉은 맛다디아의 아들이요, 맛다디아는 아모스의 아들이요, 아모스는 나훔의 아들이요, 나훔은 에슬리의 아들이요, 에슬리는 낙개의 아들이요,
