1 Since many have undertaken to set in order a narrative concerning those matters which have been fulfilled among us,Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to draw up a narrative concerning those matters which have been fulfilled among us,많은 사람이 우리 가운데서 이루어진 그 일들에 관하여 이야기를 차례대로 엮어 내려고 시도하였습니다.
2 even as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and servants of the word delivered them to us,even as they delivered them unto us, who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word,그것은 처음부터 직접 눈으로 보고 말씀을 섬긴 사람들이 우리에게 전해 준 그대로입니다.
3 it seemed good to me also, having traced the course of all things accurately from the first, to write to you in order, most excellent Theophilus;it seemed good to me also, having traced the course of all things accurately from the first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus;그래서 저도 모든 일을 처음부터 자세히 살펴본 후에, 존귀하신 데오빌로 님께 차례대로 써 드리는 것이 좋겠다고 생각하였습니다.
4 that you might know the certainty concerning the things in which you were instructed.that thou mightest know the certainty concerning the things wherein thou wast instructed.이는 당신이 배운 그 일들이 확실하다는 것을 알게 하려는 것입니다.
5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the priestly division of Abijah. He had a wife of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.There was in the days of Herod, king of Judæa, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abijah: and he had a wife of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.유대 왕 헤롯 시대에, 아비야 반열에 속한 사가랴라는 제사장이 있었습니다. 그의 아내는 아론의 자손이었고, 이름은 엘리사벳이었습니다.
6 They were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord.And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.두 사람은 모두 하나님 앞에 의로운 사람이었고, 주의 모든 계명과 규례를 흠 없이 지키며 살았습니다.

11 An angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the altar of incense.And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.그때 주의 천사가 분향단 오른쪽에 서서 그에게 나타났습니다.
12 Zacharias was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him.And Zacharias was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him.사가랴는 천사를 보고 당황하였고, 두려움에 사로잡혔습니다.
13 But the angel said to him, “Don’ t be afraid, Zacharias, because your request has been heard. Your wife, Elizabeth, will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: because thy supplication is heard, and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.그러나 천사가 그에게 말하였습니다. "사가랴야, 두려워하지 마라. 네 간구가 들렸다. 네 아내 엘리사벳이 너에게 아들을 낳아 줄 것이니, 그 이름을 요한이라 하여라.
14 You will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth.And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.너는 기뻐하고 즐거워할 것이며, 많은 사람도 그의 출생을 기뻐할 것이다.
15 For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and he will drink no wine nor strong drink. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’ s womb.For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and he shall drink no wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’ s womb.그가 주님 보시기에 위대한 사람이 될 것이기 때문이다. 그는 포도주나 독한 술을 마시지 않을 것이며, 어머니의 태에서부터 성령으로 충만할 것이다.
16 He will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God.And many of the children of Israel shall he turn unto the Lord their God.그는 이스라엘 자손 가운데 많은 사람을 그들의 하나님이신 주께로 돌이킬 것이다.
17 He will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘ to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to prepare a people prepared for the Lord.”And he shall go before his face in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to walk in the wisdom of the just; to make ready for the Lord a people prepared for him.그는 엘리야의 영과 능력으로 주님보다 앞서 나아가, '아버지들의 마음을 자녀들에게로 돌이키고' 거역하는 사람들을 의인의 지혜로 돌이켜, 주님을 위하여 준비된 백성을 마련할 것이다."
18 Zacharias said to the angel, “ How can I be sure of this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years.”And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.사가랴가 천사에게 말하였습니다. "내가 무엇으로 이 일을 확신할 수 있겠습니까? 나는 늙은 사람이고, 내 아내도 나이가 많습니다."
19 The angel answered him, “ I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God. I was sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news.And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and I was sent to speak unto thee, and to bring thee these good tidings.천사가 그에게 대답하였습니다. "나는 하나님 앞에 서 있는 가브리엘이다. 너에게 말하고 이 기쁜 소식을 전하라고 보냄을 받았다.
20 Behold, you will be silent and not able to speak until the day that these things will happen, because you didn’ t believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their proper time.”And behold, thou shalt be silent and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall come to pass, because thou believedst not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.보아라, 이 일이 이루어지는 날까지 너는 말을 못하는 벙어리가 될 것이다. 네가 내 말을 믿지 않았기 때문이다. 내 말은 정해진 때에 반드시 이루어질 것이다."
21 The people were waiting for Zacharias, and they marveled that he delayed in the temple.And the people were waiting for Zacharias, and they marvelled while he tarried in the temple.백성은 사가랴를 기다리고 있었는데, 그가 성전 안에서 오래 지체하는 것을 이상하게 여겼습니다.
22 When he came out, he could not speak to them. They perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple. He continued making signs to them, and remained mute.And when he came out, he could not speak unto them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: and he continued making signs unto them, and remained dumb.그가 밖으로 나왔을 때 그들에게 말을 할 수가 없었습니다. 사람들은 그가 성전 안에서 환상을 본 줄 알았습니다. 그는 계속 손짓으로 사람들에게 표시할 뿐, 말을 하지 못하였습니다.
23 When the days of his service were fulfilled, he departed to his house.And it came to pass, when the days of his ministration were fulfilled, he departed unto his house.그의 직무 기간이 끝나자, 그는 자기 집으로 돌아갔습니다.
24 After these days Elizabeth his wife conceived, and she hid herself five months, saying,And after these days Elisabeth his wife conceived; and she hid herself five months, saying,그 후 그의 아내 엘리사벳이 임신하였습니다. 그녀는 다섯 달 동안 숨어 지내며 말하였습니다.

26 Now in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth,Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,여섯째 달에 천사 가브리엘이 하나님께로부터 갈릴리의 나사렛이라는 마을로 보냄을 받았습니다.
27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man whose name was Joseph, of David’s house. The virgin’s name was Mary.to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.그는 다윗의 집안에 속한 요셉이라는 사람과 약혼한 처녀에게 갔는데, 그 처녀의 이름은 마리아였습니다.
28 Having come in, the angel said to her, “ Rejoice, you highly favored one! The Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women!”And he came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favored, the Lord is with thee.천사가 들어가 그녀에게 말하였습니다. "기뻐하여라, 은혜를 입은 자여! 주께서 너와 함께 계신다. 너는 여자들 가운데서 복을 받은 사람이다!"
29 But when she saw him, she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered what kind of salutation this might be.But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this might be.그러나 마리아는 천사를 보고 그 말에 몹시 당황하여, 이것이 무슨 인사인가 하고 곰곰이 생각하였습니다.
30 The angel said to her, “Don’ t be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God.천사가 그녀에게 말하였습니다. "마리아야, 두려워하지 마라. 너는 하나님께 은혜를 입었다.
31 Behold, you will conceive in your womb and give birth to a son, and shall name him ‘ Jesus.’And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.보아라, 네가 임신하여 아들을 낳을 것이니, 그 이름을 예수라고 하여라.
32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David,He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:그는 위대한 사람이 될 것이며, 지극히 높으신 분의 아들이라 불릴 것이다. 주 하나님께서 그에게 그의 조상 다윗의 왕좌를 주실 것이며,
33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever. There will be no end to his Kingdom.”and he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.그는 야곱의 집을 영원히 다스릴 것이다. 그의 나라는 끝이 없을 것이다."
34 Mary said to the angel, “ How can this be, seeing I am a virgin?”And Mary said unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?마리아가 천사에게 말하였습니다. "나는 남자를 알지 못하는데, 어떻게 이런 일이 있을 수 있습니까?"
35 The angel answered her, “ The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore also the holy one who is born from you will be called the Son of God.And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee: wherefore also the holy thing which is begotten shall be called the Son of God.천사가 그녀에게 대답하였습니다. "성령께서 네게 임하시고, 지극히 높으신 분의 능력이 너를 덮으실 것이다. 그러므로 태어날 거룩한 분은 하나님의 아들이라 불릴 것이다.
36 Behold, Elizabeth your relative also has conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren.And behold, Elisabeth thy kinswoman, she also hath conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her that was called barren.보아라, 네 친척 엘리사벳도 늙은 나이에 아들을 임신하였다. 임신하지 못한다고 하던 그녀가 지금 여섯 달이 되었다.
37 For nothing spoken by God is impossible.”For no word from God shall be void of power.하나님께서 하신 말씀은 무엇이든 능치 못한 것이 없기 때문이다."
38 Mary said, “ Behold, the servant of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her.And Mary said, Behold, the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.마리아가 말하였습니다. "보십시오, 나는 주의 여종입니다. 당신의 말씀대로 내게 이루어지기를 바랍니다." 그러자 천사가 그녀에게서 떠나갔습니다.
39 Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Judah,And Mary arose in these days and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Judah;그 무렵 마리아가 일어나 서둘러 산골 마을, 유대의 한 동네로 갔습니다.
40 and entered into the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth.and entered into the house of Zacharias and saluted Elisabeth.그녀는 사가랴의 집에 들어가 엘리사벳에게 인사하였습니다.
41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.And it came to pass, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit;엘리사벳이 마리아의 인사를 들었을 때, 그녀의 태 속에서 아기가 뛰놀았고, 엘리사벳은 성령으로 충만하게 되었습니다.
42 She called out with a loud voice and said, “ Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!and she lifted up her voice with a loud cry, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.그녀가 큰 소리로 외치며 말하였습니다. "너는 여자들 가운데서 복을 받은 사람이며, 네 태의 열매도 복을 받았다!
43 Why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come unto me?내 주님의 어머니가 내게 오시다니, 어찌 내게 이런 일이 있단 말인가?
44 For behold, when the voice of your greeting came into my ears, the baby leaped in my womb for joy!For behold, when the voice of thy salutation came into mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.보아라, 네 인사 소리가 내 귀에 들렸을 때, 내 태 속의 아기가 기뻐서 뛰놀았다!
45 Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of the things which have been spoken to her from the Lord!”And blessed is she that believed; for there shall be a fulfilment of the things which have been spoken to her from the Lord.믿은 그 여인은 복이 있다. 주께서 그녀에게 하신 말씀이 이루어질 것이기 때문이다!"
46 Mary said, “ My soul magnifies the Lord.And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,마리아가 말하였습니다. "내 영혼이 주님을 찬양하며,
47 My spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior,And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.내 영이 내 구주이신 하나님 안에서 기뻐합니다.
48 for he has looked at the humble state of his servant. For behold, from now on, all generations will call me blessed.For he hath looked upon the low estate of his handmaid: For behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.주께서 그분의 여종의 비천한 처지를 돌아보셨기 때문입니다. 보십시오, 이제부터는 모든 세대가 나를 복되다 할 것입니다.
49 For he who is mighty has done great things for me. Holy is his name.For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; And holy is his name.능하신 분께서 나를 위해 큰 일을 하셨기 때문입니다. 그분의 이름은 거룩합니다.
50 His mercy is for generations and generations on those who fear him.And his mercy is unto generations and generations On them that fear him.그분을 경외하는 사람들에게는 그분의 긍휼이 대대로 미칩니다.
51 He has shown strength with his arm. He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.He hath showed strength with his arm; He hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their heart.그분은 그 팔로 능력을 보이셨고, 마음에 교만한 생각을 품은 자들을 흩으셨습니다.
52 He has put down princes from their thrones, and has exalted the lowly.He hath put down princes from their thrones, And hath exalted them of low degree.권세 있는 자들을 그 자리에서 끌어내리시고, 비천한 자들을 높이셨습니다.
53 He has filled the hungry with good things. He has sent the rich away empty.The hungry he hath filled with good things; And the rich he hath sent empty away.굶주린 자들을 좋은 것으로 채우시고, 부유한 자들을 빈손으로 돌려보내셨습니다.
54 He has given help to Israel, his servant, that he might remember mercy,He hath given help to Israel his servant, That he might remember mercy그분의 종 이스라엘을 도우시어, 긍휼을 기억하셨습니다.
55 as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and his offspring forever.”( As he spake unto our fathers ) Toward Abraham and his seed for ever.우리 조상에게, 곧 아브라함과 그 후손에게 영원히 말씀하신 그대로입니다."
56 Mary stayed with her about three months, and then returned to her house.And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned unto her house.마리아는 엘리사벳과 함께 석 달쯤 머물다가 자기 집으로 돌아갔습니다.
57 Now the time that Elizabeth should give birth was fulfilled, and she gave birth to a son.Now Elisabeth’s time was fulfilled that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.엘리사벳이 해산할 때가 차서 아들을 낳았습니다.
58 Her neighbors and her relatives heard that the Lord had magnified his mercy toward her, and they rejoiced with her.And her neighbors and her kinsfolk heard that the Lord had magnified his mercy towards her; and they rejoiced with her.이웃들과 친척들은 주께서 그녀에게 큰 긍휼을 베푸셨다는 것을 듣고, 그녀와 함께 기뻐하였습니다.
59 On the eighth day, they came to circumcise the child; and they would have called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.And it came to pass on the eighth day, that they came to circumcise the child; and they would have called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.여드레째 되는 날, 사람들이 아기에게 할례를 행하러 와서, 아버지의 이름을 따라 그를 사가랴라 부르려 하였습니다.
60 His mother answered, “ Not so; but he will be called John.”And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.그러나 그의 어머니가 대답하였습니다. "아닙니다. 그의 이름은 요한이라 할 것입니다."
61 They said to her, “ There is no one among your relatives who is called by this name.”And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.사람들이 그녀에게 말하였습니다. "당신의 친척 가운데 그런 이름을 가진 사람이 없습니다."
62 They made signs to his father, what he would have him called.And they made signs to his father, what he would have him called.그래서 그들이 아버지에게 손짓으로, 아기를 무엇이라 부르고 싶은지 물었습니다.
63 He asked for a writing tablet, and wrote, “ His name is John.” They all marveled.And he asked for a writing tablet, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all.사가랴는 서판을 달라고 하여 "그의 이름은 요한이다."라고 썼습니다. 그러자 모두가 놀랐습니다.
64 His mouth was opened immediately and his tongue freed, and he spoke, blessing God.And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake, blessing God.즉시 그의 입이 열리고 혀가 풀려, 그가 말을 하며 하나님을 찬양하였습니다.
65 Fear came on all who lived around them, and all these sayings were talked about throughout all the hill country of Judea.And fear came on all that dwelt round about them: and all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill country of Judæa.그 주위에 사는 모든 사람에게 두려움이 임하였고, 이 모든 일이 유대의 온 산골 지방에 두루 이야기되었습니다.
66 All who heard them laid them up in their heart, saying, “ What then will this child be?” The hand of the Lord was with him.And all that heard them laid them up in their heart, saying, What then shall this child be? For the hand of the Lord was with him.이 일을 들은 사람들은 모두 마음에 새기며 말하였습니다. "이 아이가 장차 어떤 사람이 될까?" 주님의 손이 그와 함께하셨기 때문입니다.
67 His father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying,And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying,그의 아버지 사가랴는 성령으로 충만하여 예언하며 말하였습니다.
68 “ Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people;Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel; For he hath visited and wrought redemption for his people,"이스라엘의 하나님이신 주님을 찬송합니다. 그분이 그 백성을 찾아오시어 구속을 이루셨기 때문입니다.
69 and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant DavidAnd hath raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of his servant David그분은 우리를 위하여 그분의 종 다윗의 집에 구원의 뿔을 일으키셨습니다.
70 ( as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets who have been from of old),( As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets that have been from of old),(이는 그분이 옛적부터 거룩한 선지자들의 입을 통하여 말씀하신 그대로입니다.)
71 salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us;Salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;곧 우리 원수들에게서, 우리를 미워하는 모든 사람의 손에서 건지시는 구원입니다.
72 to show mercy toward our fathers, to remember his holy covenant,To show mercy towards our fathers, And to remember his holy covenant;우리 조상에게 긍휼을 베푸시고, 그분의 거룩한 언약을 기억하시려는 것입니다.
73 the oath which he swore to Abraham our father,The oath which he sware unto Abraham our father,곧 우리 조상 아브라함에게 하신 맹세입니다.
74 to grant to us that we, being delivered out of the hand of our enemies, should serve him without fear,To grant unto us that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies Should serve him without fear,우리가 원수들의 손에서 건짐을 받아, 두려움 없이 그분을 섬기게 하시려는 것입니다.
75 in holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our life.In holiness and righteousness before him all our days.우리가 사는 모든 날 동안 그분 앞에서 거룩함과 의로움으로 섬기게 하시려는 것입니다.
76 And you, child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways,Yea and thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Most High: For thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to make ready his ways;그리고 아이야, 너는 지극히 높으신 분의 선지자라 불릴 것이다. 너는 주님보다 앞서 나아가 그분의 길을 예비하고,
77 to give knowledge of salvation to his people by the remission of their sins,To give knowledge of salvation unto his people In the remission of their sins,죄 사함을 통하여 그분의 백성에게 구원의 지식을 알려 줄 것이기 때문이다.
78 because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the dawn from on high will visit us,Because of the tender mercy of our God, Whereby the dayspring from on high shall visit us,이는 우리 하나님의 깊은 긍휼 때문이니, 그 긍휼로 인하여 높은 곳에서 동트는 새벽빛이 우리를 찾아오시어,
79 to shine on those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death; to guide our feet into the way of peace.”To shine upon them that sit in darkness and the shadow of death; To guide our feet into the way of peace.어둠과 죽음의 그늘에 앉아 있는 사람들을 비추시고, 우리의 발을 평화의 길로 인도하실 것입니다."
80 The child was growing and becoming strong in spirit, and was in the desert until the day of his public appearance to Israel.And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his showing unto Israel.그 아이는 자라며 영적으로 강건해졌고, 이스라엘 앞에 공적으로 나타나는 날까지 광야에 있었습니다.
